I read here about diatomaceous earth and have started looking where to buy it and use it as recommended here. I thought that it'll be available on a hardware store that sells gardening tools, etc. No luck.

Then I went on to look for a new dog shampoo and there I saw this bottle of powder. It says Fenobucarb, Doggie's Choice Pet House Cleaner, Anti-Parasitic. I went home, put it on the window sills, on the floor, on the ground outside my house but not on my dog. I sprayed some water on it and let it stayed for overnight. On the next day, the ticks are dead, like they dried out. So I went ahead and cleaned up the house, removed all the powder, and then had my dog washed with shampoo.

The next day, there are still some ticks but it is manageable.

I found out that fenobucarb is used mainly as a pesticide so I guess, it is better to use it sparingly.

Diatomaceous earth is sold at Home Depot...at least at the one I gp to. The worker there took me right to it in the pesticide area.

Tractor Supply carries it, also you can order it online. Just make sure it is 'Food Grade'. This is completely safe for all your family, pets, and livestock. It is a great all around pest control and kills: Ants, spiders, fleas, ticks and anything with an exoskeleton. It dehydrates them instantly.

I spread it all over my carpet and let it sit. I still have fleas. I even put it on my cats. ugh I got it on amazon. Do not get the one at home depot, its not food grade so will harm you and animals. look at amazon - usda approved one. I use it for me too. Apparently its good in a lot of ways.

You can buy the food grade diatom dust at pet stores too....that's where I bought mine. You will need to spend at least a month cleaning and vacuuming everything thoroughly and using the diatom dust to completely remove the offending insects. The first application will kill the adults, but you have to keep the routine so the eggs and any newly hatched ones are killed too. If you want instant results, get a chemical treatment or prescription med. If you wish to use natural remedies, learn some patience as natural methods take time to be really effective.

Walmart.com sells it for like 10.00 a bag, but it has to be ordered through there they don't keep it in the store much, I have not looked in the swimming supplies, but I did gardening and had no luck. Really need to order some myself but my money seems to keep getting tighter.

Use only food grade diatomaceous earth. Don't use pool DE. Try earthworkshealth.com.
