I have found that the best way to keep fleas and ticks OFF your dogs all together is to put garlic in their food when you feed them. You can used minced or garlic powder in wet food or garlic juice on dry food. It only takes a little. Don't worry about the smell being on your dogs. You can't smell it but those blood thirsty creatures can and they stay away from them. This also works for intestinal worms. It makes the dogs intestines a nonfavorable environment and the eggs die off and pass in their stool, they never even get a chance to mature into adults. If your dog already has worms it works the same way. It makes it unfavorable, they die and pass in their stool. I've had vets tell me this is the best way to go because the creatures are starting to become immune to the chemicals and they don't work as well. I swear by this method and all three of my dogs have stayed flea, tick and worm free.

I had a small dog that I gave garlic to on a regular basis. It didn't harm him at all. His breath smelled horrible but he had absolutely no fleas or ticks.

Garlic is not toxic to dogs or cats in small amounts...I know a lot of people who have been feeding garlic to their dogs and cats, big and small, for years and have never had a problem. I don't recommend feeding garlic every day though, every 2-3 days should be enough.

HI all, my poor old dog is testament that DO NOT use Garlic in their foods... I did this religiously for years, then one day I came home & he was nearly gone. Diagnosis, he had very little count of red blood cells!! so with loads of trips to the Vet & many pills later, he is ok, though he is now Blind & Deaf! Please dont use garlic, I know that we get to our wits end on being good owners for our pets, but what is the cost in the long run?

Funny its toxic unless its bought in some overprocessed chemical ridden dog food/treats? Really, I gotta trust Mother Nature on this one, really vet tech, how many garlic overdoses have you seen personally? Or are you simply repeating what you've been told?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont feed your animals garlic. Its toxic to them and even small amounts over time can cause organ failure that you might not know about until it's too late. The best thing todo is put a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in your dogs food or water everyday. Not only can fleas not stand the acidity that will be in your dogs skin but apple cider vinegar improves digestion and creates a healthy coat and skin.
