While recovering from a cold I woke up one morning with killer ear pains. I tried aromatherapy, a hot bath, and a few of my go-to teas. Nothing worked until a friend told me that when they were younger they would hold a hot glass over their ear to pull out the pressure. I set a pan on the stove and added a small handfull of slices of fresh garlic, onion and seasalt. Stir in 2 tablespoons of water, and 2 drops of red thyme essential oil. Don't let it boil or the water will evaporate to quickly, just simmer for 5-10 minutes. Fold a hand towel in half and pour the hot mixture onto the towel but be careful not to let the towel get to soaked and keep back a bit of the water. Fold the towel of few more times to wrap up the mixture and keep in from burning you skin (because it will be hot). Just place it on your ear (not in your ear) until it cools and warm it back up in the microwave (for about 10 seconds)when it does, do this for at least 30 minutes. This will not cure an infection but helps with the pain (or at least it did for me). Good luck, and remember that you somtimes need to give in and go to the doctor if it's bad enough.
