I just put 4-5 drops of rubbing alcohol in each of my ears (tilting my head) so it will run & stay in 30-45 seconds, then repeat if needed. The rubbing alcohol evaporates water. Legal:see a dr- this is just what workds for me.

Thank you so much. I couldn't remember whether you used rubbing alcohol or peroxide.

DIDN'T HELP AT ALL

If it caused immense pain, you probably already had an infection started. I used this technique and it worked, though did cause a minor burning sensation in my ear- that much should be expected.

Actually I understood swimmer's ear to be pain caused by water in the ear and pure rubbing alcohol will work for this. The pain I experience is in the outer ear, any touch on my outer ear would cause extreme, excruciating pain.

Thanks! Worked within a minute on my 4 year old.

How soon after should I repeat. The rubbing alcohol worked somewhat, but I'm not sure how long I should wait until the next use. Thank You guys for the home remedy! Never would have thought of rubbing alcohol.
