If your Dog has symptoms of mange or other skin condition use: 1% Hydrogen Peroxide mixed in water then add Borax laundry soap. Wash your dog with this every week for 2 months or until skin is clear. ALSO: DON'T WASH THIS OFF OF THE DOG, LET IT STAY ON!

My basset will be 2 tomorrow and he has been diagnosted with demodectic mange since he was 10 months old. I will try this borax method tomorrow because we have went through 7 mitaban treatments at the vet. after the 1st one he got real sick so they had to put in an I V catherter and use anti toxic drugs while using the mitaban at half strength. they had him on antibiotics and steriods while treating his demodex. and even after all that he still developed signs of toxicity especially to the mitaban treatments.after the mitaban treatments he would be sluggish for days. and after his 1st mitaban treatment he would vomit or his stool would get really milkshake like soft.finally after 5 treatments he finally recieved 2 negative skin scrapes and the vet said to do to more treatments which I did to insure it was gone. A N Y W A Y I did a total of 7 dips and meds for the cost of hundreds of dollars just to now have the mange return. Now the vet said we have to start over with the treatments . I just cant put the little guy through that again and although I have insurance they wont cover his treatments or any other treatments because it was a preexsisting condition .so needless to say I dont have another 6 hundred dollars to throw at this problem. I cant watch him suffer with those mitaban dips again and the other so called less toxic alternatives are also expensive. I came across this article after doing a search from my cell on the train to work this morning needless to say before I went home I stopped by the store and got the supplies. I will take the day off tomorrow so I can try this borax method, because it will be the first warm day where I live after a long stint of rain. So I am praying to God this borax method works because the little guy needs some relief and my vet sems to just see dollar signs when I walk in (I have three dogs) So I will keep everyone posted of how our treatments go with the borax I am hopeful. Thanks for the advice.

Hello! I have a white boxer named Cane who has hereditary mange. I dipped him in the borax and peroxide treatment and after just one, I see improvement. I also made a paste with borax and peroxide and rubbed it all over his body and let it dry. After that I rubbed petrolium jelly all over him to smother the mange mites. It is very messy so keep the dog outside if you do this. He is already looking so much better!

I have a 10 week old shepherd that was diagnosed with hereditary mange. After the vet treated her with a dip and antibiotics and another oral pesticide she seemed to get worse! Those vet treatments do NOTHING for the dogs itchy skin and didn't seem to help very much. They can't be very good for her either as the dip they used gave me red spots and itch every time I touched her. I tried the lemon bath (I heard this works better as an ongoing treatment after mange is almost gone though). I will try the borax peroxide bath and let you all know how it works, I can't stand another dip from the vet as I think the poison caused more problems. Also after researching many places it is said vitamins will help their immune system and repeats of mange. Can anyone suggest a good vitamin for puppies?

Many discarded dogs find their way to our farm. We bathe, worm and watch their behavior to be sure they get along well with other dogs, cats, and humans then we try to place them in good homes. The last 6 (beagles and mixed breeds)came in starving and with mange, ticks, etc. I found your site online and tried the hydro./borax dip on all of them -- 3 mo. to 17 yrs old - 5 lbs. to 60 lbs. Every one has shown great improvement! And they all responded so gratefully to hands-on attention. Now, to find loving homes....

Tried on my shepherd mix puppy once every 5 days for the last 3 weeks. She showed a very large improvement after the first 'wash'. She is still showing improvement but mange is not completely gone yet.

My 4 year old black lab has been struggling with mange for a little over a year. We were doing the ivomec oral treatment every day and it is $39.10 a bottle every 2 weeks for 4 months and a shot of cortisone at the beginning of every treatment. He is so badly suffering and can't kick this mange. We have an appointment to put him to sleep tomorrow morning, which I really don't feel good about. I came across this in a last minute effort. I really hope this works. My only question is: do I have to do anything in my home, like to carpet or floors? Does this bug live or lay eggs off the dog? Our dog sleeps in my son's room on carpet and I was concerned he may recontract it from the carpet? Please help me out! I want to keep my dog, he is such a good boy and this is not his fault, but we cannot afford all this vet $. We will try this and hopefully it works, he itches and self mutilates non stop. Please someone respond to the house cleaning procedures!

I used this last night on my boston terrier/chi mix and i cant believe how quickly you can see the difference. She isnt scratching she is livelier then ever and the spots aren't oozing anymore. I used 3 gallons of water a half bottle of peroxide and about 1/3 of a box of borax. she slept better last night then she has since I got her. I took her to the vet and got a dip for her with shampoo and jock itch cream... (why they would give me the cream is beyond me.) But after her borax bath and a little cream on the spots she is happy and playing again yay!!!! Thank you so much. I am so great full that this helped I figured I had nothing to loose to try it and very glad I did. I am going to do her again tomorrow. I will update all on her progress... I have a happy percy pup woot!!

I have been battling with my dogs skin for 18 months now, I have tried everything from the anti yeast kit at, Neem capsules and oil, magnesium and all sorts. 3 months ago we took him to a homeopathic vet (more money) and since then he has been on 4 courses of homeopathic tablets but none have made a difference. We have spent a small fortune! I found this site on Saturday morning and I'm sooooo glad I did! Saturday afternoon we washed the dog, then thoroughly rinsed him in the recommended solution, it is now Wednesday and we have caught him scratching about 3 times (where as before it was constant) and his skin is looking a lot calmer. I can't wait till next Saturday to give him another bath!
I will keep you updated on his progress.
Does anyone know if you have to wait 7 days or can it be done say 5 days later?
