If your Dog has symptoms of mange or other skin condition use: 1% Hydrogen Peroxide mixed in water then add Borax laundry soap. Wash your dog with this every week for 2 months or until skin is clear. ALSO: DON'T WASH THIS OFF OF THE DOG, LET IT STAY ON!

You can find everything you need at walmart. I used this mix on my pit puppy, it helped but did not clear it all the way. I found a great vet that told me to try Promeris. Promeris is a once monthly flea and tick med. She told me to put it on him, wait two weeks, and do it again. Then go to the once monthly application. I could not believe how fast this stuff worked, It was only a few days after I put it on him the first time that the smell was gone, and his hair started growing back. It has now been a little over two weeks now and he is looking great, almost all the spots are fully clear and the worst one is clearing up fast. I just hope this info can help someone because it sure helped me! I think the promeris cost about $19.00 dollars per application, but to me and my puppy it was money well spent.

For those of you worried about Borax.. its main ingredient is aboric acid. Yes that is also a remedy to rid insects from home. Ants and spiders & I have even cochroaches... but what I want to mention that as a home remedy, my mother mixed this with water when I was a child for an eyewash for pinkeye /conjunctivitis. It never blinded me, nor was it painful, like many of the RX drops she was given.. it was infact, soothing... It also worked well with our farm cats with eye troubles as well. Its been used as a detergent & numerous other uses for over 200 years. You can buy aboric acid over the counter at any walgreens, rite aid or other pharmacy. Its actually a very smart treatment... and I am trying it for my cat, who we have been battling notoedric mange with for over 2 years. Nothing has seemed to work and I cannot afford anymore vet visits.
By the way, for the cat lovers out there... apple cider vinegar is excellent for cats to help with frequent urinary tract infections...
I read someone sprays their pet with a diluted solution of it, but I never tried it because I worried it might feel like lemon juice in a cut. Would love to hear feed back about that and home many people have used the borax/peroxide mix on cats and what the outcomes were. lunarldy@bestweb.net

I'm so glad I found this site! I have a boxer that has been battling demo mange for several YEARS. He went through the chemical baths that left his skin red and raw..the last time we were at the vet he was give a Horse De-wormer that potentially could have killed him. It did work for a bit, but the mange came right back. Our poor dog is the happiest, friendliest dog you could ever meet, and even though he smells to high heaven and has scaley patches all over his back and his hair constantly falls out, he gets lots of love from our family of 5. But after spending over $1,000 on vet bills, we're basically at the end of our rope. I'm going to the store tomorrow to stock up on supplies for this bath, and I will absolutely let you know the results. (and if it works, I'm gonna be kicking myself in the a** for not finding it sooner..lol)

I have a 8 month old Boxer Jack, diagnosed with mange a few months back, afer various vet vists and treatments (ivermectin, prednasone and a high dose of antihistamine) various food trials and anti-itch shampoos. Not to mention a boat load of money. Certian things world work short term. over time the mange got worse. We decided to try this borax home reamdy... mixed 5gal warm water, bout half of 76oz. box of borax, one 16oz. bottle of hydrogen peroxide. put jack in the tub and rubed it all over his body. I did not rinsed him, just patted dry. This is day one, so far so good. If nothing else he's really clean. Hope this works.... I'll keep u updated...

Update on Jack the 8 month Boxer, It's Been about a week since we have started the borax wash on Jack. The first day after we started he was great, only itching and floping his ears a few times. As the days went on, his itching seemed to be getting worse especially at night. We gave him his second wash today. We will keep doing this weekly for a while. Maybe a few spot treatments in between. I sure hope this works!
