To get rid of fleas and ticks on outdoor dogs just dust them with Sevin dust that you use on your lawn and gardens. It is great and it will not harm the dog or your yard!

This advice should not be given or taken as a general remedy. Consider your pet's health. One may be able to deal with Sevin Dust with no problem, another may get a nasty skin irritation. Also consider that one treatment only kills the live fleas on your pet at any given time. Repeated application becomes necessary and may become too much for any pet. I have 6 adult dogs, and all are affected and infested by fleas differently, as well as having various degrees of tolerance for chemicals. Before doing anything, educate yourself about fleas and their life cycle!

heellloo!!! its a poison and it says on the package that it is poisonous if ingested. . . what if your dog goes to knaw at a flea bite that was already there?? they have then just ingested the product. There is a reason why products like that have warning labels.

About using SEVIN dust on your out side pets. I don't think that is a very good idea, not less you want to get rid of the pet too! I did that back in the 70's to my cat, and my cat died!

Sevin Dust works! If you can stand it - put it in a shaker container and shake it out on the floor leave it there. It do not bother my family or my dog.

I have used seven (7) dust to prevent fleas on my dogs before and I use it today. But there are things you should be aware of. Seven (7) dust comes in strengths, you should never use anything higher than a 5\\\\% dust. Anything higher will kill the animal. It is ok to use the higher dust for your yard 'if' your dogs are not to be in contact with the dust.Never powder your dog more than once a week and lightly dust then. It is ok to put the dust on there bed as most fleas will reside there. You can also use this in your home, but don't leave it more than a day or two then vacume. There is always a chance that your dog is allergic to fleas,if this is the case then ONE flea will cause the dog to go crazy and pull its hair out. My mom had one like this and had to be taken to a vet for a shot for the dog was allergic to flea bites.

to the person that said it killed her cat in the 70's HELLO is 2007 now im sure they have changed it

Yes it may be 2007 but the warnings printed on the packaging should be followed.
Last Fall I was visiting a friend. His Grandson came into the house crying and scratching. Then his breathing became effected. As his Mother rushed him to the ER. The Grandfather and I took a walk up the street to the neighbors yard where the kids were playing.
The neighbor had use this to treat some areas of his yard. One of the neighbors kids had the same reaction and was taken to the ER. Also one of the grandkids 10 wk old puppies died.
Why do these chemicals effect one person and not another? I do not know. But when a warning is given on a package, I follow it.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FLEAS IN MY HOUSE AND MY SON AND DAUGHTER AND I ARE VERY ALLERGIC TO THE FLEAS. EVERYONE THAT I KNEW HAD TOLD US TO USE SEVEN DUST, WELL THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO AND AFTER APPLICATIONS WE STILL HAVE FLEAS AND NOT TO MENTION THE MESS YOU HAVE TO CLEAN UP. SO IT IS NOT EVEN WORTH IT TO PUT IT DOWN TO KILL THE FLEAS IF ANY ONE KNOWS A BETTER WAY PLEASE COMMENT A BETTER WAY. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
