Not true. I can hike 12+ miles in the mountains, or bike 25 miles on hills, and my RLS still wakes me up at night. What I have found that helps is a lot of stretching before I go to bed, and using a heating pad on the part of my legs that bother me the most. This helps, but it doesn't get rid of it completely. Like most on this site, I would do almost anything for 6 consecutive hours of sleep without drugs.

I walked for 2 hours today...my RLS is acting up tonight...next remedy please!
Walking for 20 mins a day doesn't take mine away, just yours.

I walk every single day and it has no effect on my RLS.

I have had RLS for 30 years. I am also a runner and do between 25 and 60 miles a week. Exercise does make RLS worse, especially if you run in the evening. I use Mirapex, but don't like the side effects; I have nausea and ADD. I find this forum very interesting and will be trying some of the 'cures' listed here.

I have a very busy active job, on my feet all day, constantly walking, and up and down stairs, I exercise regularly as well. I suffer RLS day and night, whenever I try to sit still or relax.
I'm glad it works for you.
But unfortunally it doen't work for me

I''m hugely into waking, walked 100km once for charity and still had RLS at the end of it. RLS is not exercise related

I walk daily but it does not help at all. =(
