When you have mucus/phlegm in the throat due to post nasal drip, get some Silver Biotics (it is the only colloidal silver that really works for me) and make a nasal pray with this solution.

Don't add anything, just spray your nose 3 times daily, 2 spray in each nostril. It will fix the post nasal drip and allow the mucus to get out your nose.

THEN move on to the mucus and phlegm in the throat, here is an INSTANT remedy that will work 100%, all the time and it took me a minute to find this one.

1 - Get some Apple Cider Vinegar and mix it with 1/3 Apple Cider Vinegar, 2/3 cold water

2 - Do a gargle then bend over and stay in this position for as long as you can (minimum 3 minutes). Try to bend over and hold your feet.

3 - While bending, press your tongue against the roof of your mouth every 2 to 3 seconds.

What will happen is that:

a) The mucus/phlegm will attached itself to the mixture as Apple Cider Vinegar acts like a sponge.

b) The gravity will let the mucus/phlegm in your throat to fall in your mouth.

You will feel it falling inside your mouth and when you do, please do not stop because there are usually a lot more coming up.

So continue and each treatment should be at least 3 good gargles. You can do that as often as you like until the mucus/phlegm is completely removed. You can end your session by sucking on honey or drops to soothe your throat.

And VOILA!

I was hopeful. Bought apple cider vinegar, changed the mix with each gargle. Tried techniques described 5x. Sadly, no mucus/phlemn came up. Did swallow some vinegar. Felt small burning sensation on gumline, but went away after rinsing and brushing teeth. Thanks for the recommendation, sad I didn't have the same success.

Um what did I do wrong? As soon as I touched my tongue to the back of my throat with the vinegar in my mouth bent over it rushed into my head and I felt like I was drowning. Hurt so much and I coulnt' breath for a few seconds after spitting the stuff all over my kitchen. I do admit a tiny bit of mucous came out with it but now I have a searing headache. Like severe.Thoughts?

Okay, well, first of all the dosage is quite vague. It appears to be 1/3 cup ACV and 2/3 cup water, so that is what I did. Obviously, no one can hold a full cup of liquid in their mouths upside down or even right side up for three minutes. I think they meant that 1/3 of your concoction should be ACV and the other 2/3 water. I think the most logical one-gargle treatment would be 1 tablespoon ACV and 2 tablespoons water, and do that 3 times at one sitting (or standing).

It does work, even though I lost the first mouthful because my nose was running so badly (or good-ly in this case) that I was trying to keep it from landing on the floor, but in my quest, I ended up with the running of my nose in a kleenex and the gargle mixture on the floor. Haha.

So the second time I giggled a little while upside down and lost a couple of drops. As funny as this treatment is, DO NOT LAUGH as you will not be able to hold it all in.

Almost phlegm-phfree in California.

This worked for me too! I've been full of mucus, coughing and hacking for almost 2 weeks. I was so tired and annoyed I got up at 6:15am and got online looking for holistic cures for chest congestion and found this site and remedy because it had the most reviews. I did leave a bit of the ACV mixture in my mouth. I couldn't do 3 minutes b/cuz my mouth filled up so fast I had to spit it out. I did the silver coll. as well. I admit I feel so much better; I immediately stopped the constant coughing and my nose is clear. I still have some congestion, but not like it was! I will definitely do this again throughout the day..Very grateful for this posting! Hotep!

I tried it, this is how it went:

- Gargled for a few seconds, then bent over a bit holding the solution inside the mouth.

- I didn't have problems breathing or even swallowing a couple of times. But I couldn't bend too much (only to around my knees) and I couldn't remain in that position for more than a minute on average.

- I wasn't particularly congested but my chest hurt so that's why I tried it. The result was I didn't expectorate much, but what did come out was so disgusting I almost threw up a couple of times.

- Teeth do hurt with the vinegar, but it's temporary, you just have to brush afterwards.

- By no means do this after eating.

- I got better results with a mix of water and salt, about 1-2 teaspoons of sea salt, half a teaspoon of baking soda, all in a cup of water, also added some lime. I gargled trying to press my tongue to the back of my throat, it takes a bit of practice but lots and lots of phlegm came out, it was clear unlike the one of the vinegar solution (with yellow stuff) but it felt 'better' in general.

I would recommend the regular salt+baking soda-lemon gargles more.

Forgot to add to the previous one: Do the salt-baking soda-lime gargles with warm-slightly hot water. Cold water doesn't do the trick.
