If your toenail gets really thick and yellow, it is a form of fungus.
Take a nail file and run it over the surface of the toenail. Rub it both horizontally and laterally to make uneven grooves in the top of the nail.
Then rub Vick's Vapor Rub into the top of the toenail. The grooves will help keep the Vick's on the toenail. Do this for several days/nights in a row as often as you can.
The Eucalyptus in the Vick's will kill the fungus on the nail faster than any store-bought anti-fungal available !

I have had a fungus on my big toe for about a year now. At first it was pussing a little and I used peroxicide on it and it went away. But then it came back in December with the pussing. Once again I used peroxicide. Well about a week ago I stubbed my toe very very hard against something and it lifted it completely off the nail bed, like down to the cuticle. I soaked it in salt water and peroxcided the crap out of it. I recently went swimming and the chlorine cleaned out the inside so I could actually see how far down the nail is lifted off. Do you think using this Vicks treatment will help cure my problem? Also, if I use the bleach/water solution...how much bleach to how much water do I use?

I was diagnosed with toe nail fungus by my doctor. He prescribed medicine to take. However a year passed and it did not get better. Then I decided to try the vicks. I used it day and night and low and behold the fungus is gone within two weeks! I highly recommend this.

I have been trying vick's and my toenail turned black is this normal? Did anyone else have their toenail turn black?

My toenail fungus caused black spots on my toenail. My doctor prescribed Lamisil. Has anyone tried the Vicks method on their toes like this? I was told that the type of fungus I have could only be cured by taking the Lamisil (I did this and I still have the fungus)
Thanks!

After many years of ignoring my toenail fungus, I stumbled upon this website and decided to try a few of the remedies. I soaked my toes in a bleach/water mix(about 10 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 10 minutes. I also applied Vicks in the morning and at night. After two days the results are amazing! The white spots have completely gone away and there is only one big toe left with yellow on it. I plan to continue this treatment until the yellow is gone. So far I am VERY impressed! Thanks!

I have tried the Vicks Vapor rub method, applying 2x daily for about 3 months. NOTHING. I am sure that the rememdy works on some, but did nothing for me.

I used Vick's Vaporub for toenail fungus and it works! Make sure you completely cover the affected toenail with Vick's and administer twice a day. It took about 5 months but it did the trick. I think it's funny that the Vick's website does not condone this treatment. At best, it works (as in my case); and at worst, if it doesn't work, it's a harmless, inexpensive remedy.

My husband was hurt in an auto accident.
He's had a lot of serious problems with his neck and shoulder. We tried all kinds of hot and smelly rubs. The thing that has helped him the most has been Vapor rub. I put it on at night before he goes to bed, and he has a restful night's sleep.

We use a LOT of it! I just wish it wasn't so expensive! :(
