i am a diagnosed diabetic and there are complications with boils in some cases. (Staphylococcus aureus) ask your dr if you might have irregular blood sugar

Brandon,

The pus in boils and pimples is contagious. If you squeeze them or they drain in any way, you have to make sure to clean anything that came in contact with them or you will cause them to spread...on yourself AND on other people. Try cleaning all the areas with Betadine scrub or Neutrogena body wash or (as someone else on this site suggested), a tea tree soap at least twice daily for at least 2 weeks. If that doesn't work, you'll need a big round of antibiotics to clear your body of your current outbreak. Make sure you take all of the antibiotics exactly as the doctor says. While waiting for it to clear up, don't wear anything more than once and without washing in warm to hot water. Wash your bedding. Clean any surfaces throughout the home that came into contact with one of the boils immediately.

After that, use preventive measures to keep them from returning. If you did get another, treat immediately with warm compresses, warm baths with epsom salts and a little bit of rubbing alcohol, peroxide, the soaps/scrubs I mentioned before.

Hey Brandon,

I know what you're going through--I've had a condition like yours since I was born. It's called Hidradenitis suppurativa and is one of the meanest things on the planet.

I hate to say it, but there's not a whole hell of a lot you can do about it--the CDC doesn't put much effort into researching it (I think because mainly African-Americans and Native Americans get it, but that's another story), and most doctors don't know anything about it. DON'T EVER let a doctor tell you to wash more, or say you're dirty, and don't ever think that, because this has nothing to do with cleanliness--basically, your immune system thinks your hairs are not part of you, and tries to push them out by getting inflamed and infected.

There's an antibiotic called minocycline that might help you. It didn't work for more than three years for me, because my case is really bad (I'm 34). But you sound like you haven't had it that long, so it should work a lot better for you.

And don't let anyone tell you that other people can catch it from you. That's B.S., plain and simple. I let this crap get me down for years, and then one day I just stopped worrying--it ain't gonna go away, so I might as well live my life. Since then, I haven't had any problem taking my clothes off around a woman, and they're often impressed and think I'm some kind of superman for being able to take the pain! I can also laugh at all the jackasses who think they're having a bad day--they're not trying to sit on a boil the size of an egg!

I've also found drinking AT LEAST a gallon of water a day (buy a gallon of water and just keep refilling the bottle) and staying away from beef, bread, and sugar helps a lot, plus I lost a lost of weight. This thing won't kill you, unless you let it. If you fight it, you'll only get stronger.

Best of luck to you.

One more thing Brandon--DON'T use betadine. That's really bad advice--it will actually eat away the skin over time, and leave you with even worse scarring, and possibly more infection. It's basically like pouring acid into a wound and thinking it will help.

And before the poster who recommends that gets her panties in a bunch--A DOCTOR TOLD ME TO DO IT, AND MY SCARS ARE WORSE THAN THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. It also caused a secondary infection that took months to go away. But at least I won the malpractice lawsuit!

I have tried the Pride stuff, but I'm having no luck. I have a boil looking thing right next to my eye.It doesn't hurt, but very worried it might get into my eye.I can't seem to get it to a head. I don't know what to do, I hope it's not cancer. I hope someone can help.
