I am female, age 60, and have had a little problem with stress incontinence - 'leaking' when exerting, sneezing, etc. Thru eliminating dairy for other reasons, I slowly became aware that certain dairy components -- often 'hidden' in unlabelled foods -- were the culprit. READ LABELS and eliminate anything containing: 'milk solids,' 'modified milk ingredients,' and 'whey.' I do mean ELIMINATE - not a single bite. Very important: Only buy baked goods that are labelled. Virtually all unlabelled bakery goods must contain one of these as they bring on the problem.
Even if you don't believe me - try it for a week. Whenever the problem reoccurs, think back: what did I eat in the last 12-24 hours. Even a bite is enough.
Another note: this is not easy. Processed foods of all kinds - even sliced ham!! - almost always contain these ingredients. BUT IT WORKS. For more than 10 years, I've been leak-free -- except when I cheat -- it's true, sometimes there is something too good to pass up. LOL

I am not sure dairy is really a culprit. I once heard of a person who had arthritis and one week ate lots of oranges. so he thought- oranges cured my arthritis but in reality he was in remission for a short time and had nothing to do with oranges- and he told thousands of people on his blog to eat oranges. no one had the same effect. just a coincidence

I have celiacs and for a month I ate no dairy or no starches when I first found out but my incontinence remained. whey never effected me since i had none. incontinence is mainly from having a child. my daughter is 18 and i only just got incontinence 6 years ago. they urologist said it is still because my bladder is weak. not from some diet

I have had OAB problems for quite awile. I Have tried cutting downon caffiene, and I think it has helped. However, I am also in danger of low bone density and have therefore been increasing the amt. of dairy in my diet. If dairy makes incontinece worse, how am I supposed to get enough calcium for my bones?

You don't need milk to get calcium. You can get calcium from other soures. Milk was never meant to be part of our diet. Breast milk for babies and a cow's milk for calf etc…not for human consumption…marketing boards and advertising make you think otherwise!!!
