For fleas in your carpet: Sprinkle table salt on the carpet and leave a few days. Vacuum up. This will kill the fleas in the carpet and will thus lead to flea-free pets.

I tried the salt trick. It worked for a couple of days (kinda). I do not know if it was the salt of the complete thorough vaccuming of the entire house before hand, but it did keep the fleas down somewhat for a few days. However, after a week, they are back with a passion.

I do not know about the table salt, but I have heard that the all purpose cleaner 'Borax' will kill fleas. You just shake the powder all over the carpet and use a broom to make sure it gets deep down into the carpet and leave for a few days, then vaccum up.

Supposedly it dries the naturel oils of the flea therefore dehydrating it to death, and also does the same to the eggs. I am going to try this out, and I will post again to let you know if it has worked for me.

I just moved into a house that had fleas. I have a dog but he is not alowed inside the house. I am working on getting rid of the fleas inside now.
I tried using some foggers, but I still saw a few fleas after that.

I tried the salt remedy and left it on my carpet for at least a week, it did not kill the fleas.

If you live in a humid environment, salt will make the carpets damp. A light sprinkling of Diatomaceous Earth Powder works for us. Don't vacuum for a couple of days. Fleas dehydrate w/in 2 days. But cat may not like it. Use very sparingly. Not as dangeroud as Boric Acid.

i dont live in a damp environment so thought it would be ok to leave the salt down over night but it left carpets, floorboards etc damp and sticky and a nightmare to clean up... i think a couple of hours top would be best. Also, what ever treatment you use, you are never going to find every single flea or egg, one will always slip through, and the rate they breed, you will have a houseful again 2 weeks later, so you need to be repeating any treatment every week or so for a few weeks. disheartening i know.

we used salt and arm and hammer for the fleas sprinkle it on the floors an carpet vacuum it up then do it again in a few days and then again for at least 2 weeks that is the flea life cycle and after that we were flea free.
we still use the arm and hammer now just to freshen the rugs from odors anyway ...
worked gr8 !
we also gave the dog a shampoo with lavender mint shampoo and then rinse with a weak rinse of rosemary and water 1 teaspoon of rosemary in a pint of warm water..leave on and dry the dog...
