If you're burnt as bad as I am to start seeking the internet for remedies you know you've already heard of before... save yourself some trouble next time and invest a few bucks in a bottle of water babies 55 proof sun block and you won't get burned! I went to Destin, FL one year and I rubbed myself down about 30 minutes before going out, and then reapplied a 2nd time before stepping out into the sun. This is key in preventing a burn, you have to let the lotion absorb into your skin before exposure if you want it to work. I stayed in the sun ALL DAY, over 8 hours. Of course with a few reapplications and some spray sun block as well. But I didn't get so much as a little pink! The next day before we left the beach I decided I wanted at least a little sun and went out, for only half an hour in mid-day summer sun, with no sun protection at all and got burnt, and more than just a little bit! Just to show how bad it would and could have been the day before!

Good for you!!!! But that does not help anyone who already has sun burn. They are already wishing they applied sunscreen, now they want to know how to soothe it. You are not very soothing.

i agree with the person in all CAPS. yes this shouldnt have been on this page but it could help for future references. while reading the comments before, i do believe they were rude and VERY uncalled for. i'm 14 and have heard words like that before, but some teens would take these rude comments and copy them. it's not teaching the next generation anything but how to be a very uncaring and hurtful person. sorry about the person who posted this tip for these very foolish and rude comments posted. :/

I agree that the original poster should have placed their post in 'how to prevent sunburn'. I am not surprised that they received some nasty responses. I myself don't like to wear sunscreen, I hate lotion too - it all just feels like slime on my skin. I normally avoid exposure. I never go to the beach, but I do garden, and I try to follow the shade or take a lot of breaks in shade to give my skin a rest. Yesterday I was wearing a tank top and the area normally covered by a short sleeve got it on one shoulder only. I just got too absorbed in what I was working on.. it happens. I've got a cold damp towel on my shoulder now and it feels lovely. Should have done this last night, but it seemed less worse yesterday (I guess it 'ripened' overnight).
