I have RLS too and had it for 20+ years. I was a runner and about 20-21 years ago I stopped running due to bad knees. I gained weight. I began having leg problems that later I found out was RLS. 5 years ago I had open heart surgery and lost 34 pounds, my RLS disappeared. By last year I had gained about 12 pounds back and my RLS returned. Subsequently I lost about 15 pounds and my RLS disappeared again. So, the people talking about back pressure or pressures may have hit the cusp of the problem. When I was heavy I had problems, when I lost the weight I also lost the RLS symptoms.

Im very skinny and have had it for awhile so wht am I suppost to do to make it stop?

I moderate several online groups for RLS and other sleep disorders. The weight thing may be helping some problems, but I have to say that many, many people with RLS are not fighting a weight problem. I have members I have known for over a decade, from 16 different countries; membership numbering about 4,000 people if you add up all the groups. What I am trying to say is that I have lost 70 lbs over the last 3 yrs, and my RLS just got worse and worse. I think a better question is 'What is causing the weight gain?' many people with RLS have been looked at in sleep studies, and one thing that most of them have in common is 'excitablity of the spinal fluid' while asleep. I have had RLS since I was 14 and after I broke my back it started. So, I have always connected RLS up with my spine. There was a big study on this a few yrs ago. My advice is to educate yourselves as much as you can, go to reputable web site, and NOT a site that offers you a cure for a price! They are ALL frauds. I head up the RLS Task Force also, and we investigate every claim for a cure in the internet. Anyone who wants your money is not legitimate. If I personally found a 'cure' I would shout it from the rooftops; I would not charge people for information! This is a good web site for people to share info, and remember what works for one person may not help the next one. So, always get your facts straight.
