14 Comments for the Ear Infections and Aches Home Remedy

Ear aches are sometimes water trapped in the eustachian tube. I have found that using a blow dryer about 12 inches away from the head and on medium heat will calm the crying child.

The hair dryer worked great as a home remedy for an ear infection. My son is 4 years old. He wanted to use it himself after I did it. he said, 'It works real good.'

It worked good for my boy too! Now he is askin to open a beauty salon when he gets older! Wants to work with Miss Tyra Banks he says.

I tried it but the paon was only gone for a short time and then it came back up again. Im going to try the garlic oil and see what happens. I hate getting ear aches at 24.

Helped for the short term, but that may be good enough until you find another remedy

I'm 50 years old and have had ear pain for about a week... I tried this remedy and have total relief! Thank you for posting the remedy.

I read on another site that doing this allows water molecules that sometimes get trapped behind the ear to dry out. It was a comfortable solution as well.

My mother recommend this. I tried it on my daughter (5yo) who gets ear aches when she gets water in her ear. I found that it does help prevent her ear aches but does not help much if she already has an ear infection. Great preventitive action!!

Had an ear infection for what seems like forever but been really agonising pain for the last 12 hours or so, was so desperate for a method but this one really does not work for me, if anything it has made it worse! :( Just want my ear to stop hurting!!!!

I tried this on New Years right before I went out. I was in so much pain I thought I was going to have to cancel my plans. It really works though! You can actually hear the water evaporating in your ear.

The hairdryer is a big tool in soothing a collicky baby. The white noise helps to set them toward sleep.

I tried this remedy since I had trouble sleeping and it helped to take away most of the major pain but I don't know how long to hold the hair dryer next to my ear (held it for like 5 minutes....) and I still feel a dull throbbing pain (though not half as bad as before). Might try the lemon juice now since I have limited resources.
