expecting mom

Whether or not they're permanent, my best remedy would be to prevent stretch marks before they're a problem. I suggest using a lotion high in vitamin E. I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant, and don't have one single stretch mark.

I didn't get them until the week before I had my son, and then they were worse after I had them.

I heard about Vit E and olive oil and cocoa butter and started slathering them on at 2 months pregnant. I must have had the smoothest belly. But at 4 months when the belly started growing; so did the stretch marks. I think it's hereditary. If you don't have them, you won't, but if you are prone to them, nothing will stop them.

My first stretchmarks began to appear around 6 and a half months and now, my daughter is one year old and I am a roadmap. I used cocoa butter and am now wondering if the reason many widely available products don't work (besides possibly our genetics) could be because they are so processed and the number one ingredient is often water or other inactive or cheap or synthetic ingredients. I am going to try pure unrefined shea butter to see if that helps minimize the destruction. I have found some available from a company called nasaab who also sells whole food supplements which I already have confidence in. I also visited a website called beauty more than skin deep(or something like that)where a woman has created a simple home remedy for stretch marks and cellulite. She gives some details and testimonial pics but the bitch wants to charge our poor desperate souls for her secret. Anyway, maybe it's worth a try.

That is not a remedy, just wishful thinking.

woo everyone sounds kinda catty here! She has a point vitamin E is suppose to help but a lot of it is hereditary, so look at your mom first.

Doctors will tell you that heredity has MUCH more to do with it. I lotioned everyday with palmers stretch mark cream. I didnt have a single mark until three weeks before I had the baby. They were everywhere, except my belly. Then, when she was out, my stretched belly shriveled up like raisin! You really cant prevent them, but if you do get them stay out of the sun, or cover them and the scars will fade over the next year.

I ALSO NEVER HAD STRETCH MARKS TILL THE LAST MONTH OR SO OF MY PREGNANCY, I AM NOW OVERDUE AND HAVE LOADS ON MY STOMACH AND MY BUTT. AS FAR AS LOOK AT YOUR MOTHER TO SEE IF SHE HAS OR NOT, WELL SHE REALLY DOESN'T SO THATS A CROCK AS WELL. IT DEPENDS ON YOUR BODY AND SKIN AND HOW MUCH YOU WIEGHT YOU GAIN (I WAS 90 POUNDS TO START, NOW I AM 140 AND I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE BABY YET) I THINK I HAVE ALSO TRIED EVERYTHING TO NOT GET STRETCH MARKS AND I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS DOING WELL TILL LIKE I SAID ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WHOEVER KNOWS IF THERE IS REALLY A WAY TO PREVENT THEM BUT WHO CARES, THERE IS NOTHING OU CAN DO ONCE YOU HAVE THEM AND MY HUSBAND SAYS I AM STILL SEXY SO SCREW ANYONE ELSE WHO DOESN'T THINK SO. I DO ADMIT THOUGH THAT I HAVE USED PRUE VITAMIN E GEL AND COCOA BUTTER SINCE DAY 1 OF FINDING OUT WHICH WAS 3 WEEKS INTO IT. I ALSO DRINK LOADS AND LOADS OF WATER AND I MEAN GALLONS SO IF THAT DOESN'T WORK REALLY WHAT WILL, MAYBE NOT GAINING 50 POUNDS...LOL

I also didn't get stretchmarks until my last month. My last two weeks in fact. I kept my skin covered in pure cocoa butter and oatmeal lotion (which my sister suggested). Nothing kept me from getting stretchmarks. I know it wasn't anything I did or didn't do, I was going to get them no matter what.

i didnt get streach marks until the last 2 weeks of my pregnacy and now they are everywhere on my thighs tummy and sides...in 2 weeks so just wait

angie p

I didn't get a single one until like 7 months of my pregnancy,..and I feelt like a greesed pig, with all the lotions I tried, they still popped up.
I feel like a walking road map, all i need are the hwy numbers and interstate signs..lol! good luck too all the pregnant women out there, maybe a few of you will be lucky enough not to get them, but for the others out there, it happens, it sucks, but it happens.
