For poison oak or poison ivy use plain table salt. Just wet the infected area and rub it with table salt for fast relief and to stop the spread. Use again if itching doesn't stop after the first application. Usually stops it cold and also stops the spread. I have been using it for over 40 years with much success... It was told me by my Grandmother who had used it for many years.

Worked like a charm. I sent salt packets with my daughter to school since we are not allowed to sent any medicine with her. She was so happy to use the salt and not itch.

Found this site by performing a search on Yahoo for 'poison oak home remedy'.

Tried salt. The worst spot I had immediately stopped itching and the redness disappeared. I have a couple of spots that are currently itching a little, but I'll try a second application.

I had poison ivy from head to toe and i tried everything to get rid of the itching. I resorted to this website and saw this idea and thought what the hell, you have nothing to lose. In less than 24 hours the bumps are gone and the itching stopped immediately after i applied the salt. It was amazing!!!!!! Thanks for the hot tip.
