Oh my geeze!!! Ok, so I have been sick for 2 weeks now, just thought I had a cold until I went to the doc and he said I had a little pnemonia, well up until then I had no ear pain or stopped up issues, he looked in my ear with that stupid light thing and BAM the next day... ear infection!! And I do not tolerate them very well at all. The last 2 I had put me in the hospital because the infection got so bad and the pain was worse than any I have even felt!! So this time when it came on I wanted to find some way to relieve it before it got to that point... So I came upon this site and I have to say THANKS to whomever posted about putting a wet washcloth in a mug and microwaving it (I used hot water to wet the cloth and put a little in the mug and microwaved for 30 sec, and after the heat was gone I repeated the process before letting it drain), then hold it to your ear and let the steam in the ear, then after a few minutes I took away the cup and let my ear drain... HOLY COW!! It feels soooo much better. I read lots of other things that sound like good ideas, but I do not put things in my ear, I just cant do it, the thought of having to relive that pain from the monster ear infections gets me and I will not take that chance, I know there are many who can relate or just do like to put things in their body like that, so here is one that works!!! Good luck to all!!

Do you put the wash cloth over your ear or what?

i just try this and it doesn't work for me..
it sort of stop the pain but my ear is still feels like it has pressure in it..
as much as i want my ear to pop from blowing my nose, still it wouldn't pop.
i did the same procedure as said..
wet a towel, put it in a mug, microwave for 30 seconds and hold it up to your ear...
i did it twice, still no progress!!

I might not be doing it right but I cant get it to open, other then letting the steam in youre ear, do you have to do anything else for the ear to drain?

Les

I've been doing this for a few hours now becasue I can feel it loosening up inside my ear & some of it has been draining out. But it still pressures up again. It's not draining it all out. But is working somewhat, so I've just been keeping at it.

You r a genius!!! I've been having the worst pain I have a middle ear infection and I've tried everything and this truly works. I thought it was bogus at first bt I will anything to relieve this pain and it was hot at first so I had to keep cup at angle then directly to ear. OMFG. THIS REALLI WORKS!!!

Trying this for my 6yo daughter now, god I hope it works - the poor thing is in agony. Ear drops didn't help in the slightest, infact only caused her more irritation. Fingers crossed.

Update. Wow, she's stopped crying for the first time since she woke up. She says her ear feels alot better. Placebo or not, whatever gives her some relief is good in my books! I would definitely recommend giving this a go, if the pains stays away for her I'd call this a miracle remedy, otherwise its the best temporary pain reliever we've tried thus far!! Thanks a bunch!!
