My 14 month old son had diarreha for more than a week, his poor bum was so sore, we tried everything. I didn't use wipes, I would rinse him bum off with warm water in the tub, then pour room temperature green tea over his bottom and little boy parts, tried soaking him with 'Domeboro' (a soak used for poison ivy/oak etc) and every diaper rash cream under the sun, but nothing seemed to help. Finally I tried giving him a bath with Aveeno oatmeal bath and baking soda then after his bum was dry I put a thin layer of hydrocortisone, a layer of desitin, and a thick layer of bag balm on top. By his next diaper change his bottom looked so much better!

CONCERNED MOTHER

MY SON'S BOTTOM IS SORE FROM ALMOST 2 WEEKS OF LOOSE STOOLS. NOTHING IS MAKING HIS SKIN BETTER. EVERYTHING HURTS, i HAVE TO FIGHT HIM TO TAKE A BATH, AS THAT HURTS, TOO. HAVE HEARD TO LET HIM RUN AROUND WITHOUT DIAPERS BUT WE HAVE DISGUSTING NEIGHBORS WHO COMPLAINED ONE TIME HE TOOK OFF HIS PAMPERS AND PUT ON SWIMMING TRUNKS (i WASN'T AWARE THAT ANYBODY WAS SITTING WATCHING HIM--WHICH IS FRIGHTENING ITSELF, COULD WE HAVE A CHILD MOLESTER NEARBY? CAN WE USE NEOSPORIN TO HELP HEAL THE BROKEN OPEN SKIN? ALSO, HE HAD SOME BLOOD IN HIS STOOL, IS THERE SERIOUS REASON FOR BLOODY STOOLS?

Absolutely serious if your little guy has blood in his stools. I recommend that you get him into a pediatrician ASAP, that could be very serious.
Even if it has stopped by now, I would still get him in and try to get a stool sample to take in with you.
