Poison Ivy Home Remedy Comments

1 Comment for the Poison Ivy Home Remedy

I am extremely allergic to poison ivy. Usually have to take dose packs (cortisone) for severe cases. Got a relatively mild case on my arm recently, from brushing my dogs. Hot-hot-hot water helps the itching. Listerine seems to really keep the oozing and weeping to a minimum, and also helps the itching. Apply as often as needed.

benadryl works just fine.
it's made to deal with alergic reactions.
a lot of good doctors will give one injection and send you home. the welts clear up in a few hours.
other good docs will simply tell you to go home and take the otc pills.
i do the pills. one pill every time i'm exposed and i never break out. if i wait for the welts to appear it usually takes two doses and a good couple hours

no toxic chemical bath required
