8 Home Remedies for Fingernails

Ben Silver

I had a nasty bruise surrounding the cuticle on my finger - and it was very painful. I tried wrapping my finger in raw bacon slices - (after reading this advice on this web site).
It worked like a charm! All of the puss oozed out - and the swelling and discoloration of my finger improved considerably - and most importantly - the pain in my finger went away! Thanks for the advice.

Pour a generous amount of Olive Oil into the plan of your hand (2 tbls) then add 1 tbls of Epson salts. Rub hands together, massage cuticles & backs of hands for 5-10 mins. Oil softens the hands & the Epson salts works on rough skin, exfoliates & promotes healing of cracked, clapped skin & tender skin around nails. Works on feet too!

I also use a clove of garlic occasionally. However, I used to have really soft fragile nails and I discovered that if I use a little bit of olive oil after I do the dishes, clean, etc, it really strengthens the nails. I just keep a little container of olive oil in my kitchen with a cotton ball in it. After getting my hands wet, I rub the cotton ball on my nails and knuckles (because they tend to get really dry as well) and rub it all in while i rest for a bit.
