I have been reading on this site for my acid reflux for a while, and I haven't had the chance to try many cures on here, but I have heard lots of good stuff about apple cider vinegar. I haven't tried it yet, but what I have tried is the peanut butter cure. Just eat a small spoonful of smooth peanut butter- works for a bit, but now it's back to burning. Also, don't over-do it on the peanut butter, too much is hard to swallow. I will keep trying cures, but I need something that will provide instant and long-lasting relief...I have a naturally sensitive stomach, and I have begun to rely on Tums to heal me, but the relief is temporary....please post comments on this that will help, and try the peanut butter!

The best home remedy for heartburn is just plain iceberg lettuce. Wash and follow up about 4 leaves and lunch away. I guarantee you ,that your heartburn will cease within the next 10-20 minutes. Works every time. Always have a nice salad when you have spices foods, salad'll be good to go.

I get acid reflux so severe that it well wake me up out of a dead sleep- it's some of the worst pain I've ever felt (and I've had two natural child births!). I read many of the suggested remedies here and gave the apple cider vinegar a try; it helped a little, but not enough for me to risk lying down. So I tried the spoonfuls of smooth peanut butter. I was skeptical, but to my surprise it really helped!!! After 2 spoonfuls I felt like I could lay down again, and with a 3rd spoonful had even more relief!! I don't know if it was the combo, but I'd say try the peanut butter before the vinegar, since it tastes better, then if need take a few Swiss of apple cider vinegar too.

I had awful acid reflux & gastritis every day for 6 months. Anyone who's experienced it will tell you it has a direct impact on your life. The doctor gave me Nexium, and carafate, nothing worked. After hours of research I found out they're actually doing more damage. They prevent your own natural acid which you need. I decided to look online and everyone said to try apple cider vinegar. I couldn't believe it, I had minor relief in minutes, and within 2 days my symptoms were almost gone. It's been 7 days and my symptoms are gone. I also take 2 probiotics a day. I don't drink it down. I just mix the 2 oz to about 8 oz of water and just sip it a little at a time. If I think I may be having a flare up, you know the clearing of the throat, and dry cough until you throat's raw. I just take a quip sip and POOF! it's gone. I was actually able to eat mexican food today, and not one problem.. I promise you it works, just try it. If you use RAW organic it's better for you. If not, then any regular apple cider vinegar will do. I promise it works, just give it a try. What do you have to lose.

Nothing worse then acid reflux and no more 'pills' but guess what? As terrible as it was; 2oz of apple cider vinegar and 2 oz of ice tea (couldn't do the water) it was horrible, followed by a tablespoon of peanut butter and ALL BETTER. Amazing.

I have had several bouts of acid reflux and the only thing that worked until now was AcipHex prescription but it cost $166. Then I read several of these entries, and decided to combine a few and see what happens. I had a pretty nasty bout, so I took a spoonful of peanut butter and a couple ounces of apple cider and it worked beautifully. Lastly, I sleep on the right-hand side or on my back and it seems to have cured it.

I suffered with acid reflux for a long time until I realized that good old Jif creamy smooth peanut butter was the best treatment for me. If I felt like it was going to bother me, I would take a spoon full or two before I went to bed. If I did not take it before laying down and started having a problem I'd get up and take two spoons full and be fine for the rest of the nite. I hope this helps some of you as it did me.

I've tried MANY home remedies... Apple Cider Vinegar, Baking Soda mixed with water, mustard, and a ton of others. Nothing ever seemed to work. I'm in the process of changing my diet, but I still get bouts of reflux.

A few weeks ago I had a pretty nasty bout. Lasted for several hours. Finally, no reason why, I took a couple large swallows of Almond Milk. Pain went away nearly instantaneously. Then, a week later I had another bout. This time I immediately went to the Almond Milk. Again... worked fast and was a Godsend!

I don't know if this was a fluke, or I just found what works for me. However, thought I'd share.
