I wish I had found this sire a couple of months ago.
I had a bad case of acid reflux and didnot know what it was. My mouth was burning and I would get pains in my Chest like I was going to die.
I googled what I could and for my mouth burning refered my to my dentist. He gave me a gel to calm down the irritation, that worked.
But my stomack was still in pain.
A beautiful doctor at cvs pharmacy told me what it was.
Went to my doctor to get my heart tested, thank God that was ok.
So I knew for sure that was acid reflux.
From all that I read in this site, here is what is helping me:
I take a pickle at night with a it of the juice.
I take l-glutamine powder mix with water.
I mix backing soda and lime juice in a glass of water for after meals.
Almonds , apples, bananas , help,
I used to feel something was stuck in my throat, now that is going away slowly,
Thank you all for saving me from such discomfort.

Alkaline Water

This should be obvious - drink water that has an alkaline pH. Now most 'tap' water is neutral when it comes out of the tap due to pH buffers like calcium. However, it's naturally alkaline - as its high pH is artifically created with these buffers.

I've discovered something most people with acid reflux haven't even heard about, and that's water ionizer machines. Basically, my wife's girlfriend tried to sell me a Kangen but I simply found the same water ionizing technology at a cheaper price.

So instead of taking TUMS or rich calcium based syrups to curb my reflux, I just drink a glass of alkaline water and it works even better. The one we purchased hooks up to the tap, purifies the water first, then 'ionizes' it, making it alkaline which you simply drink. The burning from the acid reflux goes away immediately. Easy remedy.

The one we got was called the Aqua Ionizer Deluxe. Good luck!

I had severe acid reflux gerd in my throat fr a year day and night it never went I went down to 6 stones coz I couldn't eat
I stopped all acid tablets and went fr a hot oil indian full body massage followed by steam
This helped relax my muscles in my body and therefore my throat
I have also stopped drinking animal based milk and drink almond milk with added vitamins
Dairy produces more mucus in stomach which brings about reflux

My lower throat and upper chest are on fire. I ate some tums and it didn't help. Of course it seems like this is always the night before a big day, right? Anyway, I jumped on here and found several repeated remedies. I drank some pickle juice and ate a pickle, I ate a spoon full of peanut butter and I cant believe it but I feel relief! Thanks for all the recommendations.

While I do not have my own remedy to post, I have to say I am so happy I found this sight again! I have GERD and a few months back the reflux woke me out of my sleep, it was so bad. I tried the honey and in 15 minutes the burning in my throat was gone! Last night it woke me again, after drinking some water I went back to bed sitting up. That was 3 am. I tried laying down and it came back! Now at 7 am, throat burning I remembered this sight. I tried the pickle juice this time(no honey left) and almost IMMEDIATELY the burning subsided abot 80% ! What a relief! I am going back to gastro ASAP, apparently my prescription is no longer working very well. Thanks for all these great alternatives to try!

I have the acid reflex so bad at night and I get a cold pop cycle and a gaviscon tablet . I bite the pop cycle and swallow it without chewing it up and it feels so good going down. That helps me some.

I'm glad I found this site. After taking antibiotics which messed up my stomach, I have been experiencing acid reflux for a few weeks. What really helps me is chewing ginger gum. You can find it at the drugstore and it usually helps the reflux go away instantly. I've started taking a digestive enzyme with probiotics before every meal and it helps tremendously. I also found apples to work. I was also surprised to find that lying down on my left side helps a lot and lying on my right side makes it worse. Keeping upright, taking a walk or even just walking around the house after a meal helps me as well.

I have tried OTC's and spent so much money on them with little to no relief. Besides the GERD and Acid Reflux, I have some heart issues also(thankfully mild so far), but then I have the COPD (Emphysema)and stomach ulcers. I'm on oxygen-3 liters 19 hours a day. When I get those burp-type-throat-ickiness things, I sometimes get SOB with it and chest pains. I've been to ER or ED so many times thinking I was having a heart attack (which gets my anxiety going) and find out instead that it's my fibromyalgia (which can imitate a heart attack sometimes) Personally, I'm done with all the expensive stuff and I've done two things that have helped. I added a tsp. of honey to a T of peanut butter, mixed and swallowed. I can tell you only this; it works wonderfully for me. I don't know why it works, but it does. I'm a mess physically, 69 years old, quit smoking 8 months ago, trying to eat milder stuff and healthier. I walk a lot and that too seems to help the...well everything. I'm also overweight and I've been told this will probably stop altogether when I get back down. I hope this helps someone.
