Hi everyone... I'm really worrying about my poor bum. Years ago I had an abcess drained. The doctor warned me it would be my Achilles heal. Last year, shortly after delivering my son, I developed another. Luckily I found this site and discovered the magic coconut turmeric baking soda tea tree mixture. It drained and healed before it got out of hand. Now 10months later it came back. Only this time I didn't treat it in time and I went to a doctor to get it lanced. His care instructions were not very good though...my first doctor had instructed me to do daily sitz bath...this guy told me to do nothing. Not to clean wash soak...nothing. Why did I listen to him? I have never ever trusted doctors. Why did I follow his terrible advice... It's been about 2months since getting it lanced and the problem is persisting... I was treating it for a while with the mix...then a homeopath suggested I just use breast milk and turmeric.. Now I've been doing the paste again for a couple days and today the wound opened. There are two small holes. I did 2back to back sits bath with so much salt and it's draining. After soaking I applied tea tree to a gauze and covered it... But now what? I'm going to soak it again and this time maybe put oregano oil as suggested... I'm afraid to continue with the cream because I don't want it to get inside the holes and cause more infection. I'm so afraid I will get a fistula...which I'm still not exactly sure what that is... But the wound is not on my anus, it's on the cheek itself. Are fistula only on the anus? Anyone have advice or updates on their cases?
Toothpaste! (Skip to bottom for application) I woke 3-4 days ago with an abscess. I did not panic as I had one two years ago. That one was painful, but went away after a couple of days on its own. I never seeked help or did anything whatsoever (lucky).
This one was different... the first day I foolishly applied Purel... lol. It made it worse if anything as day two the abscess was massive, nothing like the previous one I'd had. I searched and searched for a cure but they all involved exotic oils and were too complicated for this 23 year old male. I came across the toothpaste method and my life was changed for the better.
I would usually apply hot water via a cloth and clean the area. Dry it, and then apply the toothpaste. The burn is nothing but soothing in comparison to the pain of the abscess. After one full day of applying it 3-4 times I awoke to a much smaller abscess, maybe two thirds of what it was. By the end if the day it was about a third of what it was. The following day it was quite small. Today, three days after application of toothpaste, my pain is gone and the abscess is miniscule. Should be gone in a day :)
So, do not panic. Apply toothpaste. Keep the area clean. Make sure area is dry (what I've read). What I didn't do but should have is applied baby powder as I irritated the surrounding skin with constant application.
Hey everyone, posting to give an update on my situation. So after several weeks of waiting around to be seen by a specialist, I finally got called in on April 28th. The specialist took a look at the swelling around my anus and felt around inside using a glove and some gel. Afterwards he informed me that my particular swelling wasn't that big; he told me that I should not consider surgery because the risk of incontinence, infection, and recurrence outweighs my current state. I was taken by surprise because I was sure I was going to need surgery--the first doctor that I went to had told me it was a matter of surgery. This new doctor told me that fistulas heal on their own in about 30\\% of patients within 6 months. Therefore, he told me that I should give my body the benefit of the doubt in healing itself before I decide to go for surgery. So now I am very confused, and worried, because I have read that you should not leave fistulas untreated for risk of complications. I am waiting to be referred to another specialist so that I can get a second opinion. I wish I could put this behind me already, my heart goes out to anyone battling this infection.
I should note that I am still using Oregano Oil and that has helped with the swelling and pain. I just ordered some silicea cell salts because I have heard great testimonies on their impact against boils, pimples, and abscesses. The pills should get here on May 5th; I will document my success with the pills.
I had a small abscess for a week or so and I used the turmeric powder/coconut oil/tea tree oil/baking powder remedy and it worked. It took about a week. I used small gauze and placed it over the abscess with a bit of toilet paper for added protection.
I did this every morning, and every evening when I went to bed. I didn't notice any change for a couple of days then I noticed it getting a bit smaller. I stopped using the remedy for a day and I noticed it getting bigger again so I continued for about three more days until it was about 1/2 the original size. I stopped using the home remedy at that point and it's continued to get smaller.
Be forwarned! This remedy is very messy and can permanently discolor your sheets, underware and wash cloths. It gets all over your fingers and stains them to the point where you have to wash your hands very thoroughly for about 2 minutes to get the yellow stain off your fingers. It also smells horrible. I've hated tee tree oil smell for years when I my dad used it on his head. YUCK!
Hey everyone, just posting to give an update on my situation. I am still waiting on my surgery, and it looks like it's going to be sometime this week. I am basically just waiting for the call. So anyways, in the meantime I have continued using Oregano Oil and guess what?? The abscess, boil, hemorrhoid, or whatever it was is now virtually gone! Today, it has been 2 weeks since I first noticed the swelling around my anus. After the first week of using oregano oil, the swelling and pain went down a bit. After two weeks of using oregano oil I can finally sit and walk without much discomfort. I can definitely testify that Oregano Oil has worked for me, but it has took patience. Again, I have been applying the oil directly to the swelling 2-3 times a day, it was a week before I noticed significant change and two weeks before it's almost gone.
To be honest, if I hadn't already gone to the clinic to get it diagnosed as a Fistula, I would have ignored it and believed I cured myself with the Oregano Oil. Unfortunately, they told me I developed a fistula so now I am just praying that it is not a complex fistula.
If you're looking to try the Oregano Oil, the one I am using says "wild mediterranean Oregano Oil" and it is 70 \\% carvacrol. You want to get oil that has at least 70 \\% carvacrol, carvacrol is what has all the anti bacterial properties. I wish everybody going through this luck and I hope this was able to help somebody out.
Hello to everyone reading this, I am posting to give an update on my situation. So previously I had emphasized that I was going to try the Turmeric+coconut oil+tea tree oil. I didn't end up trying that paste, Instead I stuck with the Oregano Oil by itself. My anal swelling began on a Tuesday, and by Monday of the following week the swelling had gone down significantly. I attribute my success treating it to the Oregano Oil because that is the only thing I used; I applied Oregano Oil with a swab 2-3 times a day for 6 days straight. On Monday, I went to the clinic to get it checked out and I had noticed that it didn't look that bad anymore. When the doctor came in to have a look at it she told me that it looked like it was already draining, then she said that it looked like more of a hemorrhoid than an abscess.
So after that, the doctor told me that she had to perform an anoctopy (this procedure involves them shoving something up your anus to inspect the inside, and yes it was very uncomfortable). Little did I know my problem was more serious than just an abscess or a hemorrhoid. The doctor informed me that it looked like I had a fistula, a tunnel that develops with puss that keeps feeding the swelling. This was terrible news as she informed me that fistulas require surgical operation in order to clean out the infection. She put me on antibiotics which I have been on for the past 2 days and I am now waiting to be sent to a specialist who will operate on me.
So as I write this I am waiting to have surgery, and as you can imagine I am terrified. Not only is this my first time experiencing something of this nature, but it will be my first surgery ever. I'll be going to the hospital where I will have studies done on me and we are going to take it from there. I am devastated about this all, but at this point I am hoping it is not anything worse.
I realize that there are not a whole lot of detailed experiences about the actual surgery itself, so god willing everything goes good, I will come back and post my experience with the surgery. It is very frightening to think about recurrences of fistulas after surgery so I am praying it is a one and done procedure.
My advice to anyone reading this is this: Go to the doctor, get your swelling looked at by a professional because home remedies are only going to treat the infection from the outside. Granted, some home remedies do a good job at treating the infection from the outside but they don't kill the root of the problem. Just go to the doctor to prevent it from becoming a more serious infection. The swelling around my anus has gone down tremendously with the Oregano Oil but at the same time these past few nights I have been waking up in cold sweats and shivers meaning the infection is still in there.
It has been a terrible experience battling this thing thus far, and its extremely embarrassing so I feel for anybody going through this. Communicate with your loved ones so you don't deal with this alone and I wish everybody success in overcoming this.
Hello everyone; just recently i noticed some swelling near my anus and originally I dismissed it as a small pimple. However, the next day when I inspected the area I noticed it was swollen red and painful to the touch. I immediately freaked out not knowing what it was, the worst thoughts surfaced to my head and I began researching the symptoms. The symptoms that I read about pointed to it being an anal abscess :( I began treating it with some oregano oil that I have in my house; oregano oil is said to be anti bacterial, anti viral and anti inflammatory due to the substances it has (carvacrol and thymol). I applied it that night and went to bed, keep in mind that this burned for a good 10 minutes. The next morning I noticed that the swelling had gone down and the pain had subsided, but the swelling remained. It is now day five and I have been doing 2-3 applications of Oregano oil as well as taking it sublingually. In addition I am drinking a lot of water, drinking 3 fruit and vegetable smoothies a day and taking vitamins along with garlic pills. I feel that the Oregano Oil helps to an extent but it is not getting rid of the problem.
I came across this website and read some encouraging testimonials about home remedies. Everyone on here is saying that Turmeric, tea tree oil and coconut oil mixed into a paste works to get rid of the abscess. I truly wish that the testimonials on here are honest because victims like myself put our faith on this information. I dread the idea of having surgery in such a delicate area especially considering that 50\\% of the time the abscess returns :/.
Please, anyone who's tried this remedy, does it hurt when the abscess bursts? and what do i do once it bursts? I appreciate your feedback. I am going to try this remedy and pray to god it works. I will come back to post my experience.
I applied this turmeric and baking soda remedy and it worked for me, except that it has been 4 days now and the pus is still continuously being drained and leaks out everytime. Is this the same for anyone else?
I'm 37 weeks pregnant into the third trimester and have dealt with 4 abscesses in the same spot for a month and a half!
They are going to be the death of me if it happens again!
1st time I went to the ER and got antibiotics and did sitsz bath. Upon reading this article about turmeric I tried the paste. Yes I thought it worked for it. I learned it did not and that's why it kept coming back because it wasn't properly healed.
Yesterday was my 4th boil and I was in excruciating pain. So much that my hubby had forced me to go to the ER and this time I knew I was going to get cut open which was my biggest fear because they can't do much for a pregnant lady and pain. At this time the boils head was greenish and had everyone scared for me and the baby.
Sure enough once I got there they had freezed me, opened me up, cleaned and sterilized, and froze a second time for the way home! It was just as much pain as the abscess itself or worse! But it was totally worth it. Instant relief after the procedure, when the freezing wore off I could feel it but I was no longer in pain. I can sit, stand and lay down like normal again! So for the amount of pain of getting it cut open was worth it.. I now feel bad for the DR and nurse because I was screaming so bad. The dr said because I had put this turmeric stuff on it plus tea tree oil, coconut oil and baking soda is the sole reason why it kept coming back and getting worse. It created a barrier so it would pop and just irritated the skin around it. She also told me to never let it get that bad but it was only over the course of 3 days? It looked like the size of a dime on the outside but apparently it was the size of a golf ball on the inside. She also pulled out a blood clot which would have not been good if I didn't get the procedure done. I highly suggest to go see a DR ASAP if you're reading this and are in so much pain you'll do anything to have it stop.
I tried applying the paste of turmeric powder, baking soda and coconut oil on top of the abscess . But I don't know why it didn't work for me... anyone suggest me please
