58 Home Remedies for Anal Skin Tags

I noticed that I was developing a bump of some kind right by my anus a couple of weeks ago. It grew to a little less than a quarter inch in size. It was very soft and loose, just like a skin tag I had a couple of years ago on my buttocks. I tied a piece of dental floss around it, but unlike my previous experience, it did not turn color and fall off after 6 days. I finally snipped it off with a pair of sterilized toenail clippers. Just felt a little pinch and that was it. The floss was still tied to the base of it. The was no blood initially; I just checked the cotton pad and it did bleed out a little tiny bit. But what a relief to finally have it off of me.

Alright guys, i'm so happy to have found this page. I have had a anal skin tag for about a year and half now. I felt so embarrassed and didn't know how to get rid of it. So I googled it and found this page and read that I was not the only one with this horrific thing. I see that a lot of you have been using the floss or thread method. I was such a wimp and didn't want to do it, but I thought to myself, do I want to suffer for 5 days/1 week or have this thing for the rest of my life? I finally built up the courage to do it. (Don't worry, for those of you who are scared because I was too!)
So I bought peroxide, dental floss, and some numbing cream. Last night, I took a shower, got a cotton ball and soaked it in peroxide and cleaned the tag and the floss. After an hour of trying to tie all of it (it was the size of like a M&M) I finally got it. I pulled until it stung a little. Cleaned it again with peroxide and fell asleep on my stomach, so I can avoid it sliding off or becoming irrated. I woke up and it stung a little,(like a strong pinch) so far it doesn't feel excruciating like some have experienced. It did however, swell up to like a bean size, but I'm not too worried. I'm determined to get rid of this crap. Hopefully it stays tolerable. I will for sure keep you guys updated to let you know how it's going , for those who are wanting to try it! Day 1

OK everyone! I have been on this page MANY times, secretly in the middle of the night exploring all your home remedies for the embarrassing anal skin tag. Let me give you some background into mine. So basically I have no idea how mine ever came about, I assume it could be that in my early teens I took quite a few laxatives to help with weight loss and perhaps all the crapping and wiping- and eventual constipation, lead to the ugly devil appearing, i'm older now I have learnt my lesson, and am now VERY conscious about my appropriate fibre intake.

However, none of this pertains to how I rid myself of this nasty curse upon my rear. I tried the tying off method so many times you'd actually laugh, and think why wouldn't you give up if just DOES NOT WORK, one time my tying experiment ended with my skin tag swelling up and becoming purple- what I thought was a good indication it was finally working- but alas I was wrong, it developed a blister and popped (grossssss) and I ended up going to an endoscopy day surgery clinic and forked out $250 dollars to have it removed under sedation (at the time I was so excited, why I hadn't I just done this to begin with!!!!! I was in zero pain and someone else was removing it for me!) but....the little bugger was not completely removed, what remained from what was once the size of a large pea, was now something that was maybe the size of a lentil. Still very evident, but so damn small I could not do the tying method any longer- although I still tried, it always ended up with it turning purple, me being extremely excited thinking the sucker was dying, only to wake up the next day with the thread having fallen off and me ending up with a sore tooshie.

I went back to the doc, but he refused to remove what was left, stating, it will just come back after pregnancy and I should just wait till then to do anything about it. No one is going to impregnate me with this hideous scumbag desecrating my once perfect derier!!!!

So I finally took things into my own hands and got down to serious business. And now I'm hear to tell you what to do.

You're gonna need gauze, lots of gauze, betadine and neosporin, disinfectant (alcohol)- and brand new nail clippers (depending on how big your skin tag is, you want ones that'll cover the whole tag, make sure they're new! Take some panadol beforehand and if you have emla cream (numbing cream) put that on the tag 20-30 mins before you begin (it won't stop the pain but it might numb it a bit)

This hurts wayyyyy less than tying off method and I wish I had done it long before, it makes you a bit queezy because there ends up being a lot of blood, plus you cut away your actual skin, but mind over matter, kill the little sob!!!

So first off i showered and cleaned the area with soap, I put some emla cream over the tag and covered it with cling wrap for half an hour max. I then swiped some rubbing alcohol over the tag to clean off the cream and doused the tag in betadine. I got my brand new clippers and soaked them in the alcohol. The next bit was really scary but go slow and you'll be right.

Grab the tag with the clippers, squeeze the clippers only a tiny bit until you feel pain or discomfort, then hold your grip and stop squeezing any more, wait until the pain eventually disapears, this will happen within 30 seconds to a minute, once the pain has numbed, squeeze a bit more till you feel pain again, then hold your grip and stop squeezing and wait for the pain to disapear. Continue doing the 'squeeze and hold' until the clippers' blades are touching, then squeeze hard and clip the sucker right off. There will be blood and you might not get a clean clip, you might have to got back and clip a bit more- but the pain feels more like discomfort than pain and NOTHING compared to the tying off method. Once the tag is clipped put some gauze over the wound immediately to help the blood clot. Wait a minute or two, then remove the gauze and try and clean up any smeared blood with the alcohol, apply betadine or neosporin on the wound and apply clean gauze.

Check the area every couple of hours and don't shower again until 24 hours later so that the area clots. Change gauze regularly and when necessary. After 24 hours feel free to soak the area in Salt water to help it heal faster and avoid infection. This part of the body heals very quickly and you'll find it looking close to normal within a week.

When taking a dump, use wet wipes instead of toilet paper and then clean the area, with salt water if possible, or just wish luke warm water, reapply neosporin after each toilet trip, and new gauze. (If you don't have access to neosporin use betadine)

Alright kids!!! I hope that helps, it's helped me, after at least a four year battle I am officially tag free and I swear to you, if It ever appears again I will be doing this every time. Good luck!! And be safe!

I read somewhere else that instead of the 'string' method, you can try twisting the skin tag and just use medical tape to keep it twisted and also keep blood out of the tag itself. I think I am gonna give this one a try but wanted to see if anyone has tried it before?

It just seems the string method has more downsides since you can cut yourself and also it's harder to tie it all the way to the bottom, but twisting it probably can get a good hold of the very base of it.

I will get some medical tape, antiseptic and pain number and give this a try.

I've have two skin tags left from hemorrhoids surrounding my anal area. Two years in and many doctors visits where they all tell me the same thing, it's a cosmetic problem. Finally decided to use tagband removal kit. First off tying it correctly on the skin tag yourself if extremely difficult! I can't seem to get the base of it so I'm cutting off in sections. I hope this works just as well. The top half is now dead and I was able to clip it off. So I reattached a new band and I think I got most of it this time. First round was painless and a piece of cake. Second round on the other hand has me in excruciating pain! I am on heavy pain meds and they don't seem to help much. This is only day one of it. Hoping the pain gets better by day 2 because idk how long I can stand this pain. It makes my legs numb with pain and even makes my vagina hurt a little (TMI I know). But any suggestions for pain?

Someone please help me. I have 2 skin tags right at the hole of my anus. One is about the size of a pea and the other half that. they are tender and painful when i poo or touch them too much. I have tried everything to get rid of them. went to the doctor, she said they were too small to do anything and no doctor would touch them. I tried freezing them with a at home wart freezer, i tried ACV, it just burnt, i cant tie them with floss because the base of them is too large and i cant wrap it around. i looked at professional removal but it costs way more than i could afford. i would just cut them off but i am afraid of too much bleeding?
the doctor said they are a result of hemorrhoids and i have none now but just skin tags. my poo is kinda hard but its small, if that makes sense. i have also tried everything to make it soft, magnesium helps a bit but i never have very soft poo.

I did this a few years ago....I tied off the hemmhroid/anal tag with dental floss, threat and tiny rubber bands and it was a disaster....I couldn't sit because the tag would became SO SWOLLEN, HUGE, super painful, and bloody that I just had to untie it....it was the worst pain I've ever felt...a few years later I couldn't take the tag anymore because it was soooooo embarrassing and I found a colorectal doctor. I told him how it itched and would swell and was a problem in regards to hygiene set up an appointment and got the thing removed a few days ago! I'm 3 days post op and let me tell you that surgery was nothing compared to tying it off. the surgery was 80% pain free and I would do it again in a heart beat.....if anyone wants to know anything about the surgery just ask! the most painful part was the numbing shot and that wasn't so bad because I took Tylenol about 45 minutes to an hour before the surgery. He cauterize do it off....If going to the doctor is what's embarrassing to you just remember he looks at at least 20-30 different buttholes a day lol

I have a large skin tag around my anus the size of a large jelly bean. After reading all comments on this site 12 hours ago i decided to have a go at getting rid of it. I have it about 15 years and is really embarassing. Okay i got dental floss and with great difaculty i got it tied up. Didn't feel much so a few hours later i got 2 small bands for doing braids in hair and got them around it. Now i could feel a good tightness but nothing painfull but i knew it was working. Just had a quick look and already it has started to go black. Will keep you all posted as to how long it will take to fully go.

I have 2 anul skin tags as a result of collapsed hemorrhoids. One is about the size of peanut (fairly large) and the other is tiny and they are both pink. I've been using Provent Skin Tag Remover religiously for 10 days now, I know these things take time, but it says it should eventually start flaking and then dry up and fall off. There has been absolutely no indication of anything, both of the tags looks exactly as they did before I started. So, I saw the post about using fingernail polish like the way you use it to suffocate a tick. There were many follow up questions, but I haven't seen anyone else respond to if they've tried it or not, so I just put my first application on today and I will update in 2 weeks or if there are any results sooner. I am using Sally Hansen Complete Salon manicure Ultra-Wear clear coat that can be found at any drug store, but basically, all clear top-coats are composed of the same ingredients. I will apply twice daily. Wish me luck :)

I've had an anal tag for several years and finally found a way to get rid of it without dealing with doctors. I bought an electronic cauterzing tool on Amazon along with some numbing cream. It was awkward and took some time but it is gone and no bad pain, just a bit of discomfort.
