If your really stupid like me and I stress this is very stupid and very dangerous take two darts large needles or anything sharp and pointy sterilise in boiling salt water cool one down hold your cheek open with one using a shaving mirror find the soft point with the hot dart place it in the abscess but don't stab it or pierce it now pull side ways until it gets a slight tear keep your cheek held open watch as blood then puss then blood come running out now clean rinse with antiseptic mouth was and keep dabbing with kitchen roll until no more blood or puss is prevalent. I say again I AM AN IDIOT THIS IS DANGEROUS but it worked a treat

I had a filling fall out of a tooth that eventually became abscessed. There was a small blister on my gums and I had no idea what it was because it was not painful. The blister was tender but no serious pain. Eventually, the blister popped (or went down) with no effort of my own. The tooth would feel loose from time to time but nothing serious.

Months later, my wisdom tooth (behind the abscessed tooth) chipped and the pain was UNBEARABLE. I seriously considered cutting half of my face off. The throbbing pain went on until I finally decided to use Sensodyne toothpaste, smearing a pea-sized amount on my tooth every 30 minutes. As the pain subsided, I began to feel the pressure from another abscess from the same tooth as before. I already made a dental appointment however I was given antibiotics and told I needed to make an appt with an oral surgeon for a double extraction. The pain from the abscess AND the toothache was bound to be the end of me. I began to flash through all my life's accomplishments and bid farewells to my family as I awaited my impending death...that is until I managed to locate one of my husband's vicodin pills from a recent car accident....which made me feel like a newly hatched chickling on a warm spring day...aka AWESOME!

I was taking the 'cillin' and started to break out in hives...while vacationing in Vegas (yay me!). I was almost done with my pills so I just finished the final dose anyways....only for the pain to return. I began to have even MORE swelling and tenderness in a larger area on the roof of my mouth. It was so bad that I had no texture on the right side of the roof of my mouth...it was just smooth and painful!

When I arrived to my extraction appointment, the doctor injected me through the roof of my mouth....and I believe I may have seen the souls of my ancient ancestors guiding me to 'the light'. Worse. Pain. Ever. As soon as he injected the needle, I felt a bunch of wetness on my tongue, a gross taste AND a horrible smell. This HAD to be pus from the 'new' abscess that had formed AFTER I was done with my antibiotics just a couple days earlier. I will never do antibiotics again (I prefer garlic....rubbed directly on the gums).

Long story short, it took about 2 minutes to extract my chipped wisdom tooth AND the erupted molar in front of it. I'm glad to report that I'm still alive....and now I know why animals and cavemen died of toothaches.

I use a product called oraljel, an over the counter dental pain relief, it's just like getting a needle from the dentist, it last for a few hours then you have to repeat rubbing it on your gums,,,,,,

Wow, where do I start. Well I am 20 years old and have been dealing with an abscesses tooth for about two years now. I originally went in for a root canal and as part of the step one process they drill the hole into your tooth and cap it until next visit. well, before the next visit, the filling had come out and my tooth cracked from being so decayed.. I experienced SEVERE pain, and I mean I have been though a lot of pain, extreme stomach pains, kidney stones, etc. But of all, this tooth pain was by FAR the wost EVER!!! my dentist did such a shitty job on my tooth I never went back to him and I take complete responsibility on never getting my tooth fixed the proper way. Also being I as well had bad insurance and so fourth. So on that part, my fault. Anyway I experienced up late night, chills, naseau, fever, swollen mouth. it was horrible.. eventually the pain went away and I havnt expiernced ANY pay from that tooth in over a year. Well a few days ago I went to work with excrutiating pain coming from my tooth. It wasn't even THAT bad until I got home, went to bed thinking it would go away, and woke up in the middle of the night hystericle.. The pain was truly unbareable. I constipated on going to the ER but decided to take some Pain Reliever and go from there. It definitely helped the pain fom a 10 to maybe a 5-6. Anyway, my gum right now if blown up and I can see the pus inside it, which is what right now is REALLY hurting. I literally tried everything. vanilla extract, salt water with warm warm mixed and swished inside my mouth. toothpaste on it, and even mouth wash. I literally had no answers and stated taking any medicine I possible could to reduce the pain (advil, ibuprofien) I am so desperate for help, One thing that has worked for me in the past hour is the tea bag. I used hot water in a cup and let the tea bag dissolve and colled out and put in my gum. I don't know if it just high hopes, but I definitely am not in as much pain. I really want the pus to pop overnight as I go to bed soon. I am going to a walk in clinic tomorrow for a true antibiotic and some answers until I can get an apt with a dentist.

Honestly, tooth pain is the absolute WORST and anyone who is reading this and has the same issue, I feel your pain truly. And we are some strong people to go through this. I appreciate everyone's input on this horrible condition and I hope you all get some relief!

I had an abscessed tooth a month ago and the pain was killing me. I immediately started doing all kinds of natural things to ease the pain. I used clove oil, which helped ease the pain. I took garlic tablets, colloidal minerals, vegetable based calcium, 50% Bee Propolis, Swanson vitamin C with rose hips, Dr. Schultz's Superfood in grape juice, diatomaceous earth mixed in with the Superfood, and swished in my mouth a tablespoon of water with an 1/8 tsp of comfrey root for 20 minutes then rinsed my mouth out thoroughly after swishing. At night I brushed my teeth with coconut oil. The pain was slowly going away so I put a paste of diatomaceous earth mixed with pure coconut oil and placed some on my sore gums and around the hurting teeth. I added some Superfood powder once in my mouth to help the taste. I slept with the paste in my mouth. By morning, the pain was gone although I could still feel it a little. I actually slept a little better too. That morning, I repeated everthing except the bee propolis and the paste at night. Things slowly improved so I wasn't sure what worked best until I had a relapse today, a month later. That is when I came across this board.
To make a long story short, the thing that has worked WONDERS is the paste! Once I put this paste back on my gums and left it for an hour or so, the pain starting going away. I know my diet plays a part as well. Stay away from starches and sugars until you are TOTALLY cured! I used this paste for three nights in a row and thought I was all better until this relapse. I will continue it this time. I am finally able to think a little better as I type. The best thing to do is to work on prevention before you get out of your head with pain! Hopefully, lesson learned.

Ok so i feel it is my duty to share the remedy that worked for me. i have an abcessed tooth in the very back top right of my mouth. it is soooooo painful. i have been trying to get this under wraps for days. i cannot afford a dentist rn and needed something to dull the throbbing pain.

i tried everything just short of my own urine (which is apparently an instant remedy)
i tried turmeric, garlic, vanilla extract, vanilla bean, salt, tea and on and on..
FINALLY. I rinsed with peroxide, used a BRAND NEW Insulin syringe and poked the head of the abcess.. i rinsed again woth peroxide and kind of let it sit over the puncture.

after that i opened up an advil iquigel and applied it directy to the affected area! Voila!! I may finally be able to sleep... its currently 4:05am

i hope anyone out there with toothpain finds the remedy they are looking for.

About three weeks ago, I experienced an abscess in my left gum. My cheek expanded, fever got pretty extent, chills. Took numerous showers. Ice pack for swelling, Garlic Oil Gels, then mixed Apple Cider Vinegar, some salt and warm water into a 3/4 of a cup...SWISHED....ice pack on face, woke up with abscess draining, yuckiest taste too. The other day, went to eat, tooth broke after falling on the ice, while chewing something(can't remember yet what it was.lol...Went to dentist today, they numbed me up..dentist squeezed my cheek some, injected three novacaines in. They came back to me about 10 minutes later, tried to extract tooth 4 times, then told me; you will need to go to an oral surgeon..you have an infected abscessed tooth, but I am putting you on 150 mg of clindamycin, and you will take it every 8 hours, until complete. Referral taken with xray film to oral surgeon. They are having me take the antibiotics and return for surgery Friday March 14, 2014 0930 am...this should do the trick, but will update when more is done then.

Natural working pain relief

the other day i woke up with such a bad pain, i went to an emergency dentist appointment (Im from UK, free dental almost) Well i was given an anti-biotic (penicillin) but no pain relief, the pain was terrible.
every night i would almost be in tears with pain,
i tried some remedies like, fresh garlic on the tooth, warm salty water, mouth wash and a tea bag on the tooth, none worked for me as a pain relief or a solution, because the abscess was inside a temp filling i had recieved a few moths ago,.

the only thing I did was to stop pain was 1. Lay on the part of my face that hurt most (no idea why but it completely stopped any pain when i laid on it)

2. have an ice pack against your face, i constantly had an ice pack against my face as it helped, for a few days, then my tooth got sensitive so i stopped for a day then it was fine,.

3. having warm baths, i loved having baths even more, every time i went in it stopped the pain, until i got out...

4. occupy your mind, i hadd to write out a latter (by hand) to my friend in prison, the whole time i was writing the letter, the pain wasnt there, it was great!

i would not recommend using anything on this website for a long term solution, you need to get to the dentist to get an anti-biotic, its necessary! they take about 48 hours to work and when they have started to work, god damn you will feel a lot better, i did! I am now just waiting to make an appointment to have the tooth taken out, feeling scared, untill i remember the pain it caused me!

even if you cant afford the dentist, surely you can save? Im sure an abscess cant live forever, use some of these pain relief to help you get through the time until you have the money, If your reading this right now, remember, i felt your pain, i really do, feels like the worst pain imaginable? Hope you have it sorted out very soon, good luck!

Clove oil!

To whomever mentioned cloves, thank you!

I had a list of things gathered from here that I was going to try (gargling warm salt water, though I had tried this earlier and it didn't help, the rubbing alcohol, ground cloves, and the garlic).

Well, as I was getting ready to try these, I remembered I had clove oil that I usually use for incense, but that is also 100% pure and natural. So before gathering the other items, I dabbed a few drops on a finger, and applied it to the gums around my the teeth in question. OMG, almost instant relief!

The left side of my head was cracking open in pain. I didn't expect it to actually help with that too, but it did!

I can't see the abscess, but know it's there, possibly beneath a tooth. I also had/have a sharp pain in my neck, on the same side of the head, and learned that it's most likely because my lymph node there has been draining the infection, and because of it, the infection has spread to my throat now too.

Okay, now that the pain is 95% gone, it's time to talk about treatment. The clove oil won't take the infection away, obviously. Tea bags were mentioned several times for drawing it out, but mine is hidden, so that won't help me.

I'd like to mention what I plan trying. The doc would give antibiotics, right? But synthetic antibiotics can be harmful to one's immune system, and I can't afford a doc anyways. So I plan on using natural antibiotics which, unlike their synthetic counterpart, won't attack your body. The 3 sources I've decided on using: honey, chamomile tea, and fresh, raw onions. I'll be drinking the tea with honey at least twice a day for a week. I'll also be taking at least an additional tablespoon of the honey via a spoon. The onions, I'll finely chop, and have at least one serving a day.

Thanks again for the clove tip!
