| Submitted at 2010-04-05 22:48:56 from 67.234.44.230 | Bacon works! I had an infection in my big toe, on the side, between my skin and nail. I'm not sure how it happened. I was about to go to the drs., but read the bacon suggestion. I wrapped 1 slice of bacon around my toe and put my foot ina plastic bag, without securing the top. My infection is now gone. Try it, it worked, and my infected toe was sore and looked rather bad.

| Submitted by Andi at 2008-06-22 12:10:12 from 76.27.7.153 | Twice in the last year I've gotten really bad infections - one on my hand from a dog bite and another on my ankle from a cut that got infected. The one on my ankle was so bad I couldn't walk and my whole leg was swollen. Here is the method i used both times and saw amazing results right away: Take a ziploc bag. Cut a hole in the bag large enough to fit around the area of the infection. Using a strong tape such as duct tape or medical tape, attach the bag to the infected area so the hole you cut fits over the area - leaving the ziploc area at the top unzipped and accessible. Make sure the bag is taped directly to the skin surrounding the hole or else this will get very messy. Once the bag is secure, place the following inside the ziploc bag: a couple slices of bread, a few tablespoons of ground flax seed and enough whole milk to fully soak the bread. Make sure the bag is sealed up tight - with any excess air removed. Knead the mixture around with your fingers. Use more of the tape to make sure the bag is securely fastened to the area. Leave the bag on over night. in the morning remove it and clean the area. Both times i used this method just in the first night a large portion of the infection had been sucked out. If there is still remaining infection you can repeat this method. Sometimes it can take a few days for all of it to drain. *Note: this only works if there is a cut or puncture for the infection to drain. If there isn't one you can make one with a sanitized needle

| Submitted by Biff Baxter at 2008-05-06 03:09:50 from 66.167.182.229 | I recently (5-2008) had incisive and laser surgeries to remove some scars on my arm. Of course, one of the incisions became infected (as they did in 6-2006). The whole area was red, inflamed and painful. I first applied a mixture of Smile's Prid Salve and alum. Then I layed a tea bag on it (all I had was a Celestial Seasoning Green Tea w/ honey and lemon) and wrapped it up in Saran Wrap. The next day the swelling was significantly reduced and the pain was almost gone. One day after that (after regularly wipping with the tea bag) the whole infection was gone. (Thanks for the suggestion T>G!).

Naturally, a nasty infection followed, complete with red streak reaching to my ankle. A neighbor wrapped my foot with a strip of raw bacon, across the wound, and within hours, the streak was gone. With normal care (clean and dry) the wound healed quickly with no problems.

| Submitted at 2006-04-25 08:20:13 from 68.110.90.101 | This isn't going to work for all infections... Just the real basic kind. So, if you had a cut and when it starts to heal it gets infected the way I fix this, it happens to my toe alot because I'm always hurting my feet without knowing it until it gets infected. You take a safetypin/tack/sewingneedle and clean it in hot water and rubbing alchohol then just stab it so as to make an exit for the puss and squeez until you've squeezed all the puss out. For bigger cuts I assume you might need more than one hole, but I've never had a verry big infected area so just one has always worked for me... After you get the puss out use hydrogen peroxide on it and let it do its bubbly thing whipe it off and repeat untill there aren't anymore bubbles or at least verry little bubbles left. The for good measure clean it with alchohol, put some type of anti-bacteriol cream on it and bandage it...

If the area turns beet red and or black, seek medical help, but also buy a lb of bacon- wrap the area with many strips (make sure you cover the entire area) overnight and by the next morning upon awakening, you will see most if not all of the infection gone and regular skin color. The bacon will be 'cooked' from the infection (dont eat) If you have some persistent redness do it again the following night. I was bitten, to this day i cant identify by what, but the sting was excrutiating. Went to the hospital as leg was turning black. Dr. said if your leg is redder tomorrow call 911. He gave me antibiotics. 5 days later, the red spot was larger and the dr. said there was a possibility they may have to take drastic measures.
A friend saved my life by bringing me the bacon. All the doctors were amazed!
