My mom used to make this when I was younger and no it taste not so great, it works!
4 cups water
4 to 6 mint tea bags
1 whole lemon
3 cloves of garlic (small cloves)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Honey to taste

Boil water, add some mint tea bags (make it just like you would make tea).Remove pan from the burner and allow the tea bags to steep. When the tea is done steeping add lemon, garlic, cayenne and honey. Return to heat and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Checking it periodically and stirring. After 10 minutes remove from heat and pour in a mug.

I know it won't taste all that great but it seemed to clear up my sinus' and help with my cough.

Before you go to bed, take a cracker and put a teaspoon of prepared horseradish (the hotter the better)on it. If the heat from the horseradish gets to you, wash with a glass of milk.

Regarding the postings suggesting use of a neti-pot, or 'snuffing' water up your nostrils:
Do not use iodized table salt. Sea salt, or other, without iodine is recommended.

PLEASE use distilled or boiled water if you're going to rinse or spray your nose!! I sincerely hope some people on here are forgetting to clarify this and not just using regular tap water! Google for the danger of using tap water for neti pots etc. A lady died by not properly using her neti pot and using tap water because she introduced a bacteria to her brain when rinsing her nose. No joke! USE DISTILLED WATER!

I have this product and its a knock-off brand of a product called Neti-Pot. whether its the real thing or not, it'll work.
All you do is put a packet of the salt mixture into the pot&lukewarm water . tilt your head to the side, slightly back, put the pot spout directly onto your nose. Hold it there and let the mixture pour into your nose and you'll feel it flowing all through your face, and then exit through your other nostril. Blow that nostril, then repeat with the other nostril until it pours out the nostril you just cleared. After all this, your face will feel so much clearer , all your sinus congestion will be gone.

I have chronic sinus infections. Ever since I can remember my mom has mix honey and lemon juice (either fresh or store bought will work) and heated it in the microwave. I always just slurp it slowly with a spoon out of a mug. It doesn't get rid of a cough, but if you are having problems getting mucus out, it usually does wonders of breaking it up. The taste is kind of odd at first, but this is something that I will always use to break up mucus.
