I have found that two herbs help with heavy flow. These herbs are usually natural health food markets. You can use them as a tincture or tea. Lady's Mantle and Shepherd's Purse.
I have had heavy cycles since high school and I am now 45 years old. I had been trying to scrap up money to buy generic lysteda that my doctor prescribed for me because there were issues with my Medicaid not wanting to pay for it. The total cost was around $125.00 cash so I spent most of the day looking for coupons that would make it cheaper. I was determined to get the pills but when all was said and done I would only be able to get 6 pills at around $13.00 on Monday because the pharmacy had to order some and by then my cycle would have slowed down on it's own. This was day 1 of my cycle and i had already had an accident and messed up my clothes. Well, desperation set in and I found out through googling home remedies that lemon juice and pineapple juice would reduce my blood flow so I gave it a try. It was day 2 of my cycle and I was bleeding very heavy so that night before i went to bed I mixed 1/4 cup of the pineapple and 1/4 cup of lemon juice and i drank it and went to bed. I drank it again 4 hours later and again 4 hours later and to my surprise, it began to work. This is the 3rd day and I alredy feel like its trying to end. I am confident that I can do this every month without having to take Lysteda or tranexammic acid for long periods of time which I'm sure has side effects. I'm not sure how long to tell you to stay on the juice but I am gonna continue to drink it until the bleeding stops and in the months to come, i hope to get it down to a science. Good luck ladies. Hope you have the same success I did because it wore me out for years. God bless you all.
I got heavy menstrual for over 2 months. I went to ER because it bled excessively. They found out I had UTI and fibroid, and they gave me antibiotic to treat my UTI only, and tell me to get referral to GYN doctor.I still had bleeding a lots. I went online and found Fenugreek and Coriander are helpful. I got 1 table spool of each of them, boil with water, I cooked them in 1/2 an hour with medium low heat, then I drank that , repeat again, this time I got the liquid plus the seeds put in the blender( I have Vitamix) mixed as smoothy, I add 1 tsp of Turmeric+ 1tsp of Cinnamon+ 1/2 tsp of Ginger. Only in one day the symptom decrease almost gone. Meanwhile I have to stop drinking juice (provide vitamin C in my diet)otherwise it was still bleeding.
I need to take this remedy in order to stop bleeding while waiting for seeing GYN doctor in 2 weeks. Hope this help for whoever got same situation like mine
Taken from a medical article, as quoted below.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen sodium (Anaprox, Aleve), or ketoprofen (Orudis), often help. Take NSAIDs daily starting one to two days before your period, and continue regularly through your heaviest days. Use the lowest dose that gives you results. The NSAIDs have definitely been shown to decrease menstrual blood loss because of their ability to interrupt excess prostaglandin F2-alpha.
I've tried it because I'm due for an ultrasound soon, but have been bleeding excessively for over 2 months so far and still going. I take nurofen and during the hours of its efficiency (6 to 8 hours), I have next to no bleeding. It does come back once the drug's potency is gone though. It's not a cure for the actual problem, just something to help you on the days you need to be up and about :)
I was on birth control called depo it has messed my cycle all up. I didnt have a period for 3 years and I quit taking the depo shot now I bleed strong with lots of blood clots and heavy bleeding so heavy I go threw 3 boxes of super plus 36 count tampons together with maxi pads. I went to the emergancy room they did an ultra sound found everything was fine but also they took urine sample and blood tests. When you bleed this way your one of a few things anemic or you just have hormonal issues to fix this they put you on birth control to regulate your period as we all know birth control has many side effects stay away from depo it does not help it makes u gain weight and lose hair aside from other stuff. I chose to be on the pill take it the same time everyday you wont see results for a few weeks. But taking Ibuprofen and elevating you legs help. Also take iorn pills this will also help stop bleeding even if your not anemic iorn pills really do the trick.
Mix 100% pineapple juice and lemon juice and drink this mixuture until your period stops. You will notice a decrease in heavy bleeding immediately. Continue this remedy until it stops, It worked for me and I have anemia so I had to stop the blood loss. Also it made my period more manageable by drinking this mix. Hope this helps you as well as it did me,
Iron supplements work wonders. I take NatureMade 65mg iron pills when I'm on my period.
I have a condition known as the Von Willebrand factor in which your blood doesn't clot normally because the blood cells are too small and abnormally shaped. Because of this, I have had very heavy, very painful periods since I got mine two months after I turned 12, I'm now 32. I struggled all throughout school following my mothers old tricks of the trade, wearing a tampon and pad together just to make it till lunch without ruining my clothes and over dosing on pain reliever to survive. My period has always been a major event in the course of my month, something I need to plan for and plan around.
Anyway, I had my daughter tested for the same blood condition and unfortunately she has it also, but she's only 6 so we have a few years yet before she gets introduced to Mother Nature's bitchy sister. I was talking to her pediatrician and she suggested I watch my diet better, not so much as far as calories or fat or things like that. She suggested I eat less processed food. Simple as that, eat more organic meats instead of assembly line packaged, mega chain store brand hamburger and chicken. All of the food they feed the cows and chickens are pumped full of hormones and additives. Factor all those extra genetically altered hormones with our over abundance of PMS hormones and you're over loaded, your body has a hard time processing it all and you're the one that suffers.
I cut out chain store, packaged meat, started buying organic, butcher cut meat and noticed a change instantly!!! Before I would sleep for 2 days leading up to my period and then struggle to stay awake during the first 2 of my period. After changing the source of my protein supply, my periods are much lighter and more regular and I have plenty of energy. I get mine every 28-30 days instead of 35-37 like before when I consumed processed meat.
I have struggled my entire menstrual life with horrible periods and this made a difference the very first month and still does. What goes in, must come out, so do yourself a favor, make this one simple little change and I promise, you'll notice a major difference. And remember spending a couple extra cents on better meat is still cheaper than buying new pants after every cycle cause your 'Aunt Flo had an accident.'
One thing which worked well for me is boiling neem leaf and drinking it. It stops irregular bleeding as well as excessive bleeding P.S Don't go taking any herbal supplements if you're going to do this. You can also visit discover neem to see the different uses. It worked just perfectly for me ;) Good luck.
I was taking MSM pills for about two months and I started seeing that my period was later and later, so that's just a heads up, to lighten it tho, I started taking cayenne pepper pills. They really helped turn a heavy period into a light manageable thing. I'm now ready for it each month instead of dreading the day I'll get it.
