I tried every cure, from over the counter creams to apple cider vinegar to sea salt to tea tree oil. I had 70 to 100 spots of ring worm on my chest, stomach Back, and legs I had ring worm before and got rid of it easily, not this time. Then I found a cure that has worked, 100 percent Neem oil, I did some research and found they have used it in India for many many years for many skin ailments. The oil comes from tree leaves, I only found 100 percent pure Neem oil in the USA marketed as a flea and tick repellent for dogs and a fungus and insecticide for plants I wasn't able to find the flea and tick repellent one locally but did find the one marketed as a plant insecticide at a local garden center it said on the label 100 percent pure Neem oil but because it was being sold as insecticide it had all the warnings on label do not get on skin and so on, I had already researched Neem oil on line and found only one major study that had been done. They fed Neem leaf to rats in large quantities and it had an effect causing sterility in rats which reversed itself after they stopped eating it, it also said that it has some aspirin like qualities and should not be given to children with a fever, You can do your own research. I have been smearing the Neem oil on once a day now for 3 days and the ringworm is almost completely gone (all 70 to 100 of them) I also found a
Neem leaves dietary supplement in capsule for at my local vitamin store and have also been taking that for 3 days. You can google Neem oil and do your own research like I did, all I can tell you is this is the only thing that worked for me, and my case was severe.

after weeks of using otc creams and lotions and sprays i started search for alternative treatments. i read about the nail polish technique. being a male i was not about to go out and purchase nail polish even if it was clear. I had new-skin liquid bandage at home and used this over the otc cream, it cleared the ringworm within 2 days.

I went on vacation with my husband to Mexico and picked up a nice case of tropical ringworm (drug resistant mutated version) and tried everything under the doctors gave me without any success. I finally did some research on homeopathic websites and tried Tea Tree Oil - and it worked! I had ringworm from head to toe and after applying TEA TREE OIL for a week - it vanished! I highly recommend it and you can get it at your local Whole Foods. Good Luck!

I caught a nasty case of ringworm on a trip to Cancun. I tried OTC antifungal meds for 2 weeks and at first they really helped cool the burning and itching, but on the 13th day it came back with a vengeance. So hit google and did some serious research and what I found that has cured me in 5 days is this: (1 - Absorbine Jr. and (2 - Pure tea Tree Oil. Now the location of my ringworm made curing it a challenge. It was on the upper part of my anus on the skin between the scrotum and the hole of the anus. I know it sounds both funny and horrifying at the same time, and believe me it was. I've never felt such a burning sensation before and wiping was agony. So after reading several sites my therapy was Absorbine Jr. morning and night and tea tree oil at noon. I would also use baby powder after to keep the area as dry as possible. The results were amazing. Within 24 hours the symptoms were almost completely gone. I kept using it for an additional 6 days just to make sure it was eradicated. I did not want it coming back. I will tell you that using Absorbine Jr. and tee tree oil on this area of the body isn't the most comfortable thing even without ringworm, but the reward was well worth it. If you have it anywhere else on your body I don't imagine it would be as bid a deal. I would highly recommend Spring Valley Pharmaceutical Grade Tea Tree Oil 2 fl oz from Wal-Mart for $8. It's powerful stuff. Either one of these may have cured it on its own, but I wanted to give it both barrels because I was so miserable. Good luck and I hope it helps.

My son had ringworm on his thigh. he had used prescription and otc antifungals, but the ringworm never cleared up. I gave him a tube of prepared Wasabi paste (Japanese horseradish)and told him to rub it on the spots in the morning and before going to bed. It totally cleared the ringworm. Two years later he got ringworm on his waist. The Wasabi cleared it totally again.

My nurse practitioner told me that most all of these remedies work with enough time. People try one thing for a week, and when that doesn't work, they try something else for another week. On their third or fourth remedy, something finally works, and then they think this one thing is the answer. But, really, everything was working all along; it just takes 2-4 weeks to get rid of most types of 'ringworm' fungi. She recommended to scrub twice a day with Selsun Blue medicated shampoo; dry with a blow dryer; bandage loosely or not at all; continue for total 4 wks even if the lesion disappears; launder clothes and linens daily or as often as you can. The idea is to remove new spores before they can root and let already rooted spores live out their lives. Bottom line: avoid any temptation to damage the skin, be patient and persistent with care, be fastidious about cleanliness, and let nature take its course.

Use GENTIAN VIOLET to get rid of ringworm. I grew up on a farm and we used it to rid our animals of ringworm. It is hard to find and is often an ingredient in antifungal applications with other names, so read labels. It is gentle enough to use on children. If you can't find it in a health food store, look for a feed store that carries supplies for cattle. Gentian violet it liquid and it stains the skin purple so you need to be careful because once it is on the skin it has to fade as the skin exfoliates off.

I read all of these and didn't see the one that worked for my husband. It's the brown stain from a green walnut hull. Of course it's not available year round, but when you have access to it, it works great and is very simple. You simply apply the stain and then do nothing else. By the time the stain wears off, (you can't wash it off), the ringworm will be gone. Hope this helps some.

Cut a lime and dip the inside part in salt and scrub the infected area (tingles a little) after that rince the infected area with water and apply Blue Cream can be purchased at your local drug store. Ive had ringworm twice and this helped. you can also use hydrocortisone cream. the key thing you want to do is to dry that pesky worm away.

About 2yrs ago I had reunited with an old friend who had informed me his head had been itching horribly and wanted his head shaved into a manageable mohawk. This revealed a field of ringworm that had been hidden by his long hair. Now, I have dealt with ringworm plenty of times with myself and others and know the hassle of blowing money on 'maybe' creams...I took my knowledge of ringworm+burnout=bye bye wormys and put my friends pain tolerance to the test. Now I wouldn't suggest this method for children @ all because like I said there is a level of pain. I doused cotton balls with nail polish remover and gently went over the areas of his newly shaved head. Within 2~3 days and only 2 treatments (it was only repeated to make sure it took but I wouldn't say it was necessary) it was completely gone and there practically no itch! Later at an unrelated doctor appointment we shared our experiment with him and he just looked at us painfully and replied 'that'll do it!'

I had noticed a spot on my thigh one day, and never having Ringworm before, i didn't think too much of it. The next 2 days or so,i started to notice spots on my lower abdomen. Honestly, at first, i thought it was skin irritation from crappy detergent, but as it started to multiply and i was covered from everywhere except my face and feet, i knew it was something else. I went to the Doc, found out it was ringworm, was prescribed medicine, and waited. Weeks went by and nothing happened, so i did some research myself...Take and wash your body thoroughly, rub a q-tip dipped in vinegar on the spots, and then cover w/ toothpaste. Sounds Gross and weird, but works like a charm.
Good luck!

I work at a daycare and I found out when I got ringworm from a student that the best cure was to wash the area daily with Sulfer Soap.
Cleared it up quickly and I still wash with this soap to prevent getting it again.
Don't let children play in dirt. Especialy dirt that has been soaked in standing rain water. Wash children's hands and bath them after they play outside.

I've had a scalp ringworm for about ten years or longer now, it's left a bald spot on my scalp.I went to a home remedy site and saw 1 part apple cider vinegar 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 10 parts water, mix and wash your hair with this every night.Be sure to rinse, then apply tea tree and lavendar oils. This is the only thing that has given proven results for me, I've tried external and intermal medications. My hair is coming back also. I wanted mine gone so bad, I used 50/50 cut acv and water and slept with it on the spot over night...this burns like heck, but that's how I know it's workin.

Very simple - Very effective! Make a paste out of salt (I used kosher non-iodized) and cider vinegar. Apply the paste thickly and cover with plastic and hold inplace for 5-10 mins. Do this once or twice a day. You will see results in 1 day - but keep doing it til ringworm resolves - maybe 1-2 wks. I had a small rash under my arm which lingered for weeks even after trying OTC antifungals, until I tried the salt/vinegar remedy.

I had been battling a bad case of ring work for the last 3 months or so. I had around 40 or so spots on my body. I tried everything from crushed garlic, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, oreganoil, lamisil, lotromel, and prescription drugs. Nothing worked. Then i started taking neem capsuls twice a day and put neem salve on once or twice a day. Also, I would exfoliate my body with alba organic body scrub then imediately after i used antifungal body wash and let it sit for 5 to 10 min before rinsing. Within a week half the spots were gone and the other half were almost gone. Before it was getting better i ordered dermisil and have been taking one pill a day. That has speeded up my recovery as well. Its been a couple weeks and i only have a couple spots left and continue to do this remedy. This was the only thing that worked for me. Hope it helps!

I found a few spots of ringworm on my leg and one on my hand. I used 100% Tea Tree Oil from Walmart (recommended from this site). It cleared my ringworm in 3 days. I did keep using it for another week to be safe. No further signs of ringworm. I washed my clothing with detergent and added lysol because I couldn't find and antifungal detergent. I got the ringworm from some foster kittens. Please Do Not try Tea Trea Oil on cats. I checked with the animal ER to see if I could use it on them. The oil is toxic to cats (despite what I found on line). Great for humans, though. My treatment was simple, quick, cheap and effective. Good luck.

I was desperately searching for a cure.
I tried almost everything.
1. clotrimazole.
2. tolnaftate cream and spray.
3. Apple cider Vinegar.
4. Witch Hazel.
5. Rubbing Alcohol.
6. Bleech.
7. Hydrogen Peroxide.
8. Tooth paste.
9. Salicylic acid.
10. Vicks.
11. Mouth wash.
12. Hand-sanitizer(alcohol)
13. Anti-bacterial liquid soap.
14. Icy hot
I tried all the above mentioned items, plus a combination of some of them together as a foot soaking agent.
The moment when i completely lost it, came when I saw a second ringworm right next to the original one. ARRRRRR
I poured a little less then half a cup of bleech, half cup of rubbing alcohol, half a cup of witch hazel, half cup of ACV, and then as soon as i poured half a cup of hydrogen peroxide I heard a whooshing sound and saw bubbles and some somke :-) grin, I thought to myself this would kill the fungus once for all. I then poured cold water, just enough so that I could soak my foot fully into the small plastic bucket.
I then rubbed the two ringworms with my fingers under the solution, and kept my foot under water for atleast 10 minutes. The skin peeled off from the ringworms, and the itching stopped. I went to class, and then after few hours, Itching came back.
I came home, and I was furious, at the drug agencies and the FDA for creating creams that only stop the growth of the ringworm instead of killing it. (thats how you make money).
I then took a small night lamp in my room, with .10 WATT bulb, and turned it on. Once the bulb got hot, I started cooking :-) It hurt really bad when I started to roll the bulb on the ringworms, but the feeling of killing that nasty bugger overcame my own pain. I really burned the suckers good, the skin turned red, and the bulb was covered in some sort of mildue. Ringworms started flaking, and I kept going, until I knew that the ringworms were dead and were now burning in hell. The itching had stopped.
It has been 3 or more hours since this experiment, and the itching had not returned.
The skin ofcourse was red due to minor skin burns, and may even leave a mark, but I will accept it open heartedly because it is just on my foot, and it will be just another battle scar to my body collection.
Arrrrrrggghhh 142nd Pirates for life.
(Do not tell me that it cannot be killed; if it is living, then I will find a way)

This works!!!! I am a jiu-jitsu fighter and ringworm is common... We dont even worry about it..why? Garlic.
Items. Minced Garlic. Big Bandaids. Apple Cidar Vinegar
1- Take warm shower and gently clean area. I also like to gently shave around the area.
2- Dry area. Can use Blow Dryer as to not rub area.
3- Put minced galic on Bandaid. Put it on thick so you cant see the pad. Put on infected area. Completely cover area.
4- I like to wrap it in an Ace bandage. Leave on for 4-6 hours... ( IT Will Burn !!!!) suck it up.
Warning if on face neck or sensitive area be careful and do less time.
5- repeat 3 days.. it should be dry and crusty. Looks red but not swollen.
6- After 3rd day it will be DEAD!!! Now use Apple Cider Vinegar for the next 2 weeks... 2xs per day or more..
This should do it... Again this is an Aggresive fix.. It will burn as it is dying...
I say KILL it off you Fast...

a year ago i had a ringworm on the inside of my left forearm. My dad said trust the doctor. I used anti-fungal ointment and everything and it took forever to go away, and it itched all night whenever i would try to sleep. One day i scratched it then put baby powder on it. It was just a lucky guess because the next day the ringworm was gone! Then a few weeks later i tried it again and it worked. Im not even kiddin it really works but it sounds crazy. Just scratch it put a thin layer of ointment Then over in baby powder. Mine went away in just 2-3 days. I got rid of 6 of them just like that. I highly reccommend this remedy

RING WORM IS NOT A WORM! It is a fungus that grows outward, making a round ridge as it spreads. Better know what you have before treating it, it may not be ringworm. One thing that kills it fast is high strength Hydrogen Peroxide 30 - 35%. Normal drug store is only 3%. Danger! 30% H202 will burn skin. I suggest using a Q-tip and test a very tiny spot to see how much damage and pain is associated first. CAUTION!!!!!!!!! Caustic!

the best thing for ringworm is simple. (trust me i live on a ranch and im a livestock vet) go to your feed, tack and supply store and ask for CAP 50. mix with water as indicated on the bottle and it will be gone in 2 days. if you have livestock, spray the animals enclosure and this will help keep ringworm away.

my 8 yr old recently returned from a holiday with 4 ringworms. My immediate action was to purchase anti fungal creams from the pharmacy, however 3 creams and a week later not only did they become more aggressive but another appeared. I new that sulphur destroyed fungas so i dipped a match head in the anti fungal cream and 'coloured' the ringworms pink (the pink being derived from the match head mixed with the cream). I gave them time to dry out then covered them with band aids and the next morning the ring worms were 90% gone...i repeated this idea 3 times in a 24 hour period and they were completely gone. As advised by the pharmacist ive continued to apply the antifungal cream to the area for 2 weeks to insure the infection completely heels. Now i understand this may sound unusual and i advise anybody to seek professional advice but should that fail this is an option :))

You guys were great help! I noticed a quarter-sized ring on the left side of my chin on Wednesday last week. By Friday it dawned on me that it was ringworm and I was mortified. I went into full attack mode and now its Tuesday and Its almost gone. Here's what I used with what results.
1. Clotrimazole & Betamethasone: a supposed stronger ringworm cream you can have prescribed to you. (I say 'supposed' because I've had ringworm on my leg before and this didn't seem to heal it any faster..) But I slathered it on constantly throughout the day.
2. Tea Tree Oil: OMG. This stuff is AWESOME. swabbed it on, it heats the skin a little but not enough to really burn your skin.
3. Nail Polish: Okay... this was great as a seal on my face when I was sleeping... but I think a liquid bandage would be a lot less irritating on the skin, while still suffocating the ringworm. It definitely works, but my skin was really irritated the mornings after. And nailpolish remover STINGS!!
Hope this helps! You guys are great!

This takes time (about a week for a two inch sized ringworm). I used foot scrub, iodine, and anti-fungal cream. Everynight after showering make a iodine scrub by mixing the iodine and foot scrub in your hands. rub it on the area and rinse then dry with a paper towel immedeatly! afterwards apply the anti-fungal cream . I did this and my huge ugly ring-monster went away in about a week. I continued to do this after it was gone just to be on the safe side.

A slice of garlic.
I realized I had ringworm on Friday and my mom gave me some Tetracyline to put on it. I must admit it works but I'm impatient and to me it works very slow and imagine having to go to school with ringworm (Ew) so I came to this forum and saw that someone said tape garlic to the affected area for 10-12 hours and let me tell you..I've had it on my right forearm from around 7pm and it is now 9:16pm and IT IS ALMOST GONE PEOPLE! I'm serious!
Just tape a slice of garlic to the affected area and it will be gone before you know it! This is one method I trust for sure!

I have had a persistent ringworm on both legs for 6 months, one of which had grown to the size of my palm. I tried the chemist prescribed chloramitrozole but it only fixed the tiny new sores, it made the existing ones worse.
I also tried tea tree oil, which stabilized them from getting bigger but did not improve them.
The solution - apple cider vinegar and salt - I have been using this combination applied directly to the sores with a cotton ball around 3 or 4 times a day. After 3 days the sores are significantly healed and the itching has totally stopped. I have found that scrubbing a little with the salt on the sores helps remove the skin build up and lets the vinegar get in to do its work. It will sting a bit the first few times, but it no longer hurts me. I am going to keep going after it appears to have healed for a week or two because I know it can sometimes reappear if you dont finish it off fully.

I don't know if what I am now having now is ring worm. I had this before. It is a worm like something that zigzag under the skin. I visited my GP and I was giving all kind of anti-fungal cream that really made things worse. The itch is really bad. The area does not hurt but whatever is under there kept moving and leaving a zigzag trail and it itch terribly. At first I thought it was an insect bite, because that is what it felt like. It got so bad that I suggested to my doctor that the area needs to be opened so to scrape what ever was bothering me out.Tthen my mum sow it and recommended cola nut as the cure. She sent for cola nut broke part of it and chew it and then spate it to the area affected. I suddenly felt a cool calm and within five minute the itching has stop. This procedure was repeat 3 times is the day. 3 days after I started seeing sign of cure. I was so relieved. Three years has gone by and I have this same thing appearing on the skin again. This time round the cola nut seem to only sooth it but not curing it. The doctors don't seems to have any remedies either, so I called on my mum for advice. She recommended normal fluoride based toot paste. I apply it and immediately started feeling some relieve. 24 hours is gone and I am still itching only to soothe it with the toothpaste. So I decided to combine the tooth paste and the cola nut together and slap it on the affected area religiously and it seems to be working. I will let you know how it does in a few days time. But what a combination. I also want to know if anyone knows about cola nut. I know it is used widely in West Africa. it is usually chewed, and it is said to keep the stomach free of worms as well energising the body.

I picked up ringworm from my cat, and she got over it but I did not. I used creams and oral medicine for 4 months, but the spot began to grow into a few spots. Fortunately, I went on vacation to a beach, and spent 5 days there. Rinsing in the salty sea water, packing on smooth muddy beach sand, and laying it out in the sun cleared it up immediately. 5 days of nature did what 4 months of medicine could not.

This is going to sound CRAZY but trust me it works. If you get a ringworm take a plain sheet of notebook paper, crinkle it up into a loose ball and place it on a glass plate. Light the paper on fire and let it burn until you see the oil on the plate. Immediately apply the oil to the ringworm and it will be gone overnight. I grew up in the country and always got them and it was a no fail system. Thanks.:)

I got ringwqorms about 4 weeks ago. I looked up this site and found all this info so I tried everything. Lol. Literally I've spent about 80 bucks on stuff. So ill start at the begining. When I realized I had one they had spead from my breast (on and under and on my stomach. Being overweight is a huge disadvantyage btw. So I automatically start with antifungal cream which after one day didn't do anytrhing and I'm very impatint so the next day I go buy tea tree oil. This works if u can stan the smell. Being that I was veryt ancious to get rid of these things I applied tto every few hours. Needless to say my husbend said I smelled like roach poison so I got iodine. Which cleared up my infestation in two daysd. Now this was a very minor case and didn't itch, burn,or bother me. With all my excitement I stoped applying iodine and moved on. I was ringworm free. Or so I thought. Ringworms are a fungi and trherefore thrive in hot moist areas so complaments of louisiana heat and my sweating and not applying anything to the one affected areas I,within two days, was reinfested with the mothe load of ringworms in the same areas but more and they spread to my back, but, and neck. So that's when I bought every tratment lknow to man. My itching and burning was horriffic and almost untolarable. So once again I had no patience. I used antifungal soap by fungi cure twice to three times a day,I also soaked in epson salt once a day and bleach water once a day(a cup of bleach to a reg bath), lotramin, lamisil, and tanactin cream, sprays, and powders. The name of the game is to stay as dry as possible. I did all this for a vigoris week in which I still applied iodine and tto in between med applications. I'm still applying cream and powders to the areas but all is well and this time they won't be back!

I read all of the post on here. I have ringworm on my hand and it flared up and stated to spread. I at first put bleach on it for about 2 hours and then i read a post on here about neem tree oil and leaf. I looked it up and seen all the remedies that it can cure. So i found it at a vitamin store and bought the neem leaf pills and the oil. With in 3 days it is almost gone. For only 25 dollars it was well worth it. The oil smells a little but it is acually the the neem leaf that cures the ringwom the oil just helps the skin. To top it all off the neem tree has a thousand and 1 uses. Its a win win herb. Thanks to the people that posted on the neem tree.

I have recently had this horrible ringworm on my cheek (eek!) a few times, which we all know is terrible. The first time I did the nail polish thing and it actually worked really well. This time I tried and it didn't.
Here is what I did and saw results overnight.
1- Keep it clean! So important.
2- I got apple cidar vinegar and dipped a cottonball in. Took some tape and taped it to my cheek for 30 minutes. It burns like heck but you will see it start to turn white. Take it as long as you can. Let it dry for a bit.
3- Put pure tea tree oil on a q-tip and apply it to the top. This almost soothes it.
Do this a few times a day. At night I still put the nail polish on so it would be covered through the night.
Good luck. Hope this helps some.

I've had ringworm of the scalp for so long, I actually got used to it, because I didn't know it was ringworm since it didn't make any bald patches the way it typically does when it's on the scalp. I've literally had it since I was in high school, and I'm 43 yrs. old now, so by the time I finally shaved my head so I could see the skin, it was a very advanced case. Because of the hair, when it's on your head, if it doesn't make the hair fall out, it doesn't form the typical ring shape, so it's not recognizeable as ringworm except that it does form a round or oval-shaped rashy patch. Mine was a deep, purplish-red color, and it itched like crazy if I didn't shampoo my hair every single day. I learned from WebMD.com that it was ringworm, and one of the home remedies they recommend is Selsun Blue shampoo or Head and Shoulders Intensive Care, since these have the ingredient 'selenium sulfide' in them. Selenium sulfide seems to work really well, as this silver-dollar-sized patch on the back of my scalp has now faded from a deep red to a light pink color after only a few weeks, and that's just from washing with it every day. For less extreme cases of ringworm, what I'd suggest is using Selsun Blue shampoo like a lotion. Shake it up good, and rub it on straight from the bottle, without water, and just let it sit for a half hour and then wash it off. I had a small outbreak in the middle of my chest, and I cleared it up this way in only a couple of days. Since ringworm is a fungus, Selsun Blue should also work on jock itch and athlete's foot, as well as vaginal yeast infections, probably. Selenium sulfide is the magical ingredient; totally painless, gentle and highly effective.

All these remedies seem to be a lot of work, being lazy and cheap I find using regular “burn your mouth” Colgate tooth past. Growing up wrestling you learned to get rid of the stuff quick or no wrestling. There are a few theories in the family from scratching it with a Knife and then applying the tooth past to the area “personally not recommended “to just applying it to the area, the tooth past dries so not to get all over the place and usually cures it in a day or two.

Be sure what you have is actually ringworm. I had one small/mediumish blotch that kind of hung out for two weeks, then boom it spread all over my upper chest and shoulders and abdomen and even started down my thighs. Looked just light ringworm but the remedies here didn't help and I got worried so went to dermatologist and she said it was a Herald Rash. The first blotch 'heralds' the appearance of the rest of the blotches. It does actually go away on its own after two or three weeks. But gosh it was horrible! I could have saved myself the $400 visit (no insurance) but the relief I guess was worth it to know it wasn't something serious.

Vapour Rub (for coughs and colds) slathered on the affected patches twice a day kills ringworm fast. It also treats athlete's foot and nail fungus.
Listerine dabbed on twice a day will also cure a case of ringworm which hasn't got a grip.

Keep your skin clean and dry and wash your sheets and nightclothes every day until the infection clears up. Use Tea Tree oil. Apply a light coat to affected areas three to four times a day, and continue to apply it for two weeks after the infection disappears to make sure that it is gone.

Purchase from Walmart, 100% tea tree oil (5% cineole, 35% Terpinen-4ol) and Nu Skin liquid bandage to cover it, (it is easier to remove than nail polish and won't cause an allergic reaction). Do this 2-3 times a day. You will see results in days the ringworm should be dried up. Continue to use for 2-3 weeks even after infection clears up. If you are still itchy use Blue Star ointment, which can also be purchased at Walmart.

my youngest daughter and husband got ringworm and after trying a couple different remedies I resorted to Grapefruit Seed Extract - applied it to their spots in the morning covered them with a bandaid - by noon the spots had 'bubbled' I let them air dry and the spots are 100% gone
you can get Grapefruit Seed Extract from a health food store (I happened to have some on hand as it's a good treatment for Thrush also) it doesn't cost all that much - I used the liquid form applied it directly from the bottle using a Q-Tip

I chronically had bouts of ringworm during childhood. Our remedy (Japanese grandmother's) was to place a small piece of copper in a baby food jar and cover it with white vinegar. In several days, the vinegar turns green. Use a q-tip to apply all around the ring. It burns slightly. Then it dries up the ring into a scab, usually by the next day and it's over. Apply as often as possible. Keep solution for the next time. As far as the copper goes, you can use small plumbing parts, or my favorite, pennies dated before 1958 (wheat backs) just a few pennies will do it, making this cheap AND effective! If the vinegar evaporates between bouts, just add some more and stir. The green stuff will stain clothes. Eventually the copper is degraded and you'll have to add more. The greener it is, the stronger, and the faster it works!

I am in Argentina and recently developed ringworm on my calf. Currently being in the middle of the pampas on a farm, I do not have access to antifungal creams and such medicines. I did tons of research and began a strict regimen of a scrub of sea salt and vinegar mixed into a paste. Apply until dry. This has reduced the spots. I keep it covered when not applying treatment to prevent spreading. In addition, I went through the horse medical kit and found a treatment called trushbuster which while not intended for humans (due to it potency), has worked amazingly. It contains alcohol, iodine, formalin (not the best for human use), and gentian violet. The spots are clearing up even faster and it has only been 3 day. I figured any medicine meant to kill bacterial and fungal infections in a horses foot can for sure kill ringworm.

Tanning Salon. I had ringworm for six weeks, severly on my tricpes, and it spread to my biceps, forearms, back and forehead. I tried everything, doctor and home remedy, and nothing got rid of it. I went to a tanning salon before a vacation, and the first 10 min session got rid of the smaller sores almost instantly. The second 10 min session turned the 7 and 5 inch lesions on my triceps into dry patches overnight.

I had two areas infected with ringworm recently, and being moderately vain in character, I needed to clear them up lickety-split.
I had perused several home-remedy pages, and tried using the saltpack/saltwater method, with no success. I had caught my ringworm early, though, and tried still.
I found an effective cure, and it sorted it out within days, but it is somewhat climate dependant. I went to the beach in 90 degree weather, and let the sun pound on the infected area for a good couple hours. When I got back home, I simply out-of-the-blue decided to try using essential oil of Rosemary on the ringworm. I used a high-grade essential oil, put plenty on a cotton wad, and applied it to the affected area (about the size of a quarter) and left it on all day, repeating this at night. There was a miniscule burning sensation, but not unbearable in the least.
By the second day, it had dried up and dried off (the outer ring), and I repeated the application for several days afterward, also getting sun when possible. It has worked like a charm.
Good luck, folks!

Yes folks, I've tried New Skin liquid bandage and it really does help. First, clean it with h2o2...put lamisil or the like on...let it dry for 5 mins...apply New Skin on THE ENTIRE SURFACE ...make sure to come out of the ring just a bit...and please please please apply it from outside in...that is apply to the clean area outside the ring then work your way in...reapply 2 to 3 times..the thicker the better...do not peel it off until about a week or so...I have a ring worm the size of a quarter on my right cheek. First,I was skeptical however,I thought, what have I got to lose. You must not peel it off. Must leave it on for a week or so though. Without oxygen it can't multiply. Try this method out first and if it doesn't work then go to a dermatologist. WORD OF CAUTION : not all dermatologist know what the heck they are talking about. He diagnose my condition as 'skin irritation' . He did a culture on it and said that he doesn't think it's a ring worm. And told me to come back in a week for a follow up. He prescribed 1 bottle of soap and 1 tube of cortizone cream. I purchased it from his office. Walk to my car , sat down, think it over, flip at the mirror, looked at my face and I decided that I was going to go seek a second opinion. I went back inside to get a refund on the two items that I purchased ( i had it in my hand for 5 mins). It was unopen the seal was still on. He said he couldn't take it back due to HIPPA and that it was an 'office policy'. HIPPA has to do with patient privacy and if it was an office policy , it was not written anywhere on the receipt nor it was publicly display. I got cheated.

I promised I would do this if this site helped and it did. I was desperate because I had ringworm on my inner thigh that soon encroached on to my testicles, so I used a few methods from this site. Try and see what works for you, but this is what worked for me.
1) Shower (if in a less aggressive area forearm for instantce maybe you just wash your arm offin the tub or sink.
2) ACV(apple cider vinegar) - apply with cotton ball and rub in a circular motion until it bleeds. Do this for the first 1-3 days
3) Absortine Jr - apply with cotton ball (don't rub just dab and hold until the pain sensation is totally gone or until you reach your threshold)
4) Tea Tree Oil - apply with q-tip (don't rub just dab the area until you see the shine/wet look)
5) Gold Bond Triple Action Relief(extra strength) - apply after air or blow dry
Tips
-Shower or wash area if possible before every treatment.(if I couldn't shower I would use a baby wipe with a dash of ACV on it)
-Repeat all steps for first 1-3 days when your ready to discontinue ACV dose do so, but continue all other steps.
Other Key Points
-You will feel discomfort
-This won't be fun
-The sooner you attack the easier it will be to kill this fungal rash
-Your skin will be discolored (dark/grey/black)
-Your skin will peel
-When healed be sure to moisturize the skin because if not it will be itchy.
-KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN & be honest with the people you live with to be careful you don't want to pass this on.
I hope this helps someone else.
Peace, Love, & Knowledge,
-aker

For Tinea with blistering and inflammation
For tinea with blisters that spreads. First treat inflammation with ibuprophen, then use a drawing salve on blisters to help dry them. Rinse with cold water and soap and dry thouroughly. Then follow up with anti-fungals. I have finally been seeing results with thus method. My suspicion is that the fungus can hide beneath blistering and use inflammation to continue to spread despite topical treatment. That is why I suggest treating inflammation, drawing blisters with a salve, and then treating with anti-fungal. I hope this helps every single person struggling with persisting tinea. Let me know if this worked or helped you. : )

I've been washing the area with Teraseptic (an antibacterial cleanser that doesn't sting), and applying a thin layer of Tinactin (an over-the-counter antifungal cream, medicinal ingredient is 1% tolnaftate) and then covering with Nexcare foam bandages. I've been doing this twice a day - when I wake up, and before I go to bed.
It has only been three days, but so far so good. It is starting to clear up.

My wife suggested I try fresh garlic cloves, cut the clove into two pieces and apply the garlic directly to the ringworm. Additionally I took a garlic suppliment. There are a couple ways to kill ringworm, either sufficate it by nail polish etc, (suffication can take several weeks) or poison the ringworm...This is what Garlic does, less than a day, the ringworm was gone, for good.

THIS REALLY WORKS!!! I went to Mexico for my honeymoon and contracted ringworm. This was no regular case of ringworm either - it was tropical ringworm that was resistant to most treatments because of over-prescription of medicines in Mexico. It started as a little spot on my back and spread all over my entire body in a matter of weeks. I tried everything... OTC medicines, anti-fungal prescriptions from the doc, other alternative remedies (nail polish, bleach - yes I was desperate) and nothing worked. So I finally was told by a friend to try TEA TREE OIL and I rubbed each spot as many times a day as I could and it worked like a miracle! In a matter of days it stopped spreading and started to go away. I now use the stuff on any weird skin issues that I or my family has.. Trust me - try Tea Tree Oil - the stuff is potent and kills fungus.

Use Nizoral Shampoo and Mederma. I found this on another forum and I swore if it worked I would try to share it in as many places as possible. I had three ringworm scars, one on my shoulder and two on my tummy (all a half dollar size or bigger). After I used my prescription cream (I didn't try the bleach)for two months, my doc told me it will take up to a year for the scars to go away. I wanted to cry. But in less than two weeks the scars are gone/light shade. This is how I did it: At night put Nizoral Shampoo on the spots and go to sleep (let it dry), in the morning take a shower and scrub the area using an exfoloating glove/rag ( I did it hard). Pat dry and use the cream the doc gave you for the rest of the day. Repeat this process for seven days. On the seventh night instead of the Nizoral shampoo use Mederma ( both are available over the counter) in the morning take a shower and you will see the dead skin and scar wash down the drain. Just to be sure dry off and rub the rest of it using a towel. Please note at times it might burn or be irratated an you might question yourself, but I promise you will see it dry up and look 100 times better. The following week I kept using the cream from the doc during the day and Mederma at night. Just make sure your fungus is healed before doing this. Good luck! And please share with others!

Okay, i have read a lot of entries and you may all be right, but most of the remedies reqire a lot of work, and considerig i am only 16, i was ashamed of what i had and i hadn't told my parents or anyone. So i obviously looked online, researched and tried to find remedies, and what i found was an EASY quick, simple remedy with something I could find in my house. And i know a lot of people dont think this will work because it doesnt require much work, but thats the beauty of it.
So, what i used, is CLEAR NAIL POLISH!!! LOL I would apply the nail polish in the morning once i got out of the shower, and i would then put on tape, one that would stick to the skin and stay on! So i covered the area in the polish, put the tape over it, and do it every morning after my shower. It was easy, quick, didnt need to set aside much time in my day and it is REALLLLY WORKING!! It has only been a week and it is pretty much ALL gone.
And i know everyone is like A WEEK!? and everyone elses remedies are quicker i am sure,BUT dont go mixing chemicals and burning yourself and DONT let them control your life.
TIP: YOU DONT WANT TO SCRATCH, otherwise, you will scratch the blisters, re-open them and leave yourself suseptable to more and more ringworms. So LAYER THE TAPE to the point where if you scratch it, you will get some relief, but you are NOT scratching and reopening the blisters!
Works everyone! And i CANT wait untill it is FULLLLLLY gone, right now, all i have is a slight discolouration! yayayay!!

DIFFICULT RINGWORM?
I had ringworm for what seemed like forever. At first I didn't know what it was and my doctor gave me an ointment that did nothing. Went back a week later, got a stronger ointment and some sort of pill. The ringworm started fading and the medication ended.. but it came back almost double. I started applying apple cider vinegar three times a day only to have super dry skin and continuously spreading ringworm. Called the doc, he sent me a longer prescription for anti-fungal pills, and then I continued to apply apple cider vinegar, and the n put over the counter fungal cream on top, to stop the dryness. So far, so disappearing! GOOD LUCK!

I have one ringworm on my right cheek,it was very close to my right eye and nose. I went to the dermatologist and he did a culture test by using a q-tip then wiped the entire area with a q tip then dip it in a testing solution, he look at it for one split seconds then turn around and said that it wasn't a ring worm and just ' a skin irritation'. He perscribe one lotion and one cleanser for me to use and said that it was going to look really bad before it gets better and order me to come back in 7 days for a follow up.
I've tried creams and lotions that the dermatologist recommended for a week and it didn't work. I tried the hydrogen peroxide and lamisil and that didn't work. I tried New Skin liquid bandage and it did dry the area however, it came right back. For those who don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on the dermatologist bill, making him- her rich, please give this a try for two weeks.
1. Wash the entire area with Apple Cider Vinager (use cotton balls dip in ACV then press and hold for two -three minutes for good absorbtion)
2. Apply the entire area with 100 % Tea Tree Oil (from Whole food store). Again, use a cotton ball (new one )and pour tea tree oil on the cotton ball, make sure that it is saturated with Tea tree oil, then hold and press the area for 5 mins.
Con't to follow this regimen for one to two weeks. I made a note of the first day I use this method and it added up to eight days. It was gone by the seven day but I con't to use it just to make sure that suckers is gone for good. Hope this helps

TOOTHPASTE!!!!!!! Works like a charm!! Antifungal creams weren't working and since you supposed it goes away by drying out, I figured since toothpaste is supposed to help get rid of acne(by drying it out) it would work for ringworm too, and sure enough. I left it on for a couple hours, wiped off and then applied neosporin. My husband also used bleach instead of toothpaste and that seemed to work pretty good too.
