TREATMENT ON KIDS:
After reading everyones diverse solutions for this condition, I concluded what would work for my situation. 1 yr ago my daughter, age 11, developed a sore on her head. Blistering, bleeding, and Terrible dander. Not even expensive medicated shampoos would work. Then I noticed developement on other parts of her body, eyebrows, elbows etc. I had to get this under control. As a baby she would occasionally develope red patches on her body which we would treat with oatmeal but I had forgotten about that till I read this site.
These solutions immediately worked for her. And by immediate, I mean after the first use! I bought the whole line of Aveeno products, found in the baby section of the grocery. This is a wheat oatmeal formula. Baby wash-shampoo, showergel, lotion, conditioner, leave in conditioner. $5-7 per bottle. I also bought a jar of sea salt bath and a bottle of centrum kids megavitamin (VitE). A total of about $50. After using the hair products she took a bath in salt-aveeno mix (very small amount of each). The next day was just leave in conditioner and lotion. This will be her routine for years to come. But she smiled! The blisters and redness went away on all areas, and the flaking was gone after the second wash. I cannot say enough about our happiness and results.

I m a girl who's had psoriasis since I was 9. I am now 21.
I am wondering if it has anything to do with the removal of my tonsilitis when I was 8, cause I heard that tonsils is essential and removing it will cause lack of immunity in the body.
Its hereditary in my case and I feel so bad about it. I go from depressed to angry about it cause my grandmother and dad from whom I get it make my life from bad to worse. It makes me upset all the more 'cause they are such control freaks and give me no space at all and I have to carry their stupid disease with me and my future generations. I almost don't want to have kids 'cause I don't want spread my disease to my kids and make them hate me for it.
I had only scalp psoriasis till 15. Now I have all over my legs, breasts, forehead scalp ears stomach. Its gives me no reason to want to live at all. Forget aesthetic reasons, it hurts physically- itching, bleeding and cant wax or do anything.
Regarding remedies, nothing ever works permanently. They say homeopathy works but I haven't seen any immediate relief and never tested it long enough to see any benefit either.
I don follow any medication 'cause I have just grown sick of trying and have no hope left.
From experience the ones that did work for me are
1) diavobet oinment
2) neem oil
3) salt water bath
4) not using soap but using natural cleansers (like gram flour with little water to form paste.)
5)steam baths
6) cod liver oil tablets and application.

I'm 23 years old and I have psoriasis all over my body. I've read through this forum so many times and thank you guys for the help.
I wanted to share my way of treating psoriasis after trying a lot of things you guys recommended.
I take a salt water bath for 20 minutes, scrub gently for all the flakes to come off. Then I stand in the shower and literally wash myself with apple cider vinegar/water mixture. After that, I rub my entire body with olive oil. That's day 1.
Day 2 I use tee tree shampoo for my hair and something minty and cool body wash for my body. (I live in taiwan so posting the brands might not be too helpful)
Day 3 I use Dr. Teal's Oatmeal Bath Soak (bought in America and had my mom send it to me) and afterwards just rinse.
I have been repeating these procedures every week, switching it up since I don't know which one works perfectly so I figured I'd do all three.
The lotion I use is vaseline moisture locking lotion. I think it's one of the best I've tried.
Also, if anyone is interested, I bought some shirts from this guy in Taiwan. It's one of those 'Dry-Fit' shirts. If you're itchy all the time, these are truly the best shirts to have.
The guy is a Taiwanese American like me and he has set up an Ebay store trying to sell those shirts to America.
It's 10 bucks for a shirt (compared to maybe 30-40 bucks a shirt in the states) and international shipping is 8 bucks. Good news is that 8 bucks shipping can pay for 2 shirts.
Up to you if you wanna try, I personally have 12 of these shirts in my closet. Having oil all over my body and then another shirt stuck to me is the worst feeling ever.
I started wearing these shirts, I itch less, I feel a lot less gross and even when I scratch it doesn't hurt as much because the material's really soft.
if anyone has any questions, feel free to email me.

I am 26 yrs old and have had psoriasis since I was 9. The best remedy, by far for psoriasis is Dr. Pagano's diet. It is 100% natural. Although the diet is very strict, it does wonders for light to extreme psoriasis sufferers. I started the diet when I was about 11 yrs old and stopped when I was 14. My psoriasis didn't come back until I was 24 yrs old and it only came back because I started eating junk food and stopped exercising. Google Dr. Pagano or go to Amazon to check it out. I garauntee you that you will not regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,
I am 52 years old and developed psoriasis in (extending internally) in about an inch and all around the anus, buttocks and inner thigh regions. As you know the inflamation, particularly when driving and walking has been very difficult to cope with. I went to a Dermatologist and he prescribed Dovobet gel. I followed his directions to a the letter, but it made absolutely no difference. I began to despair because as I know that it can't be cured, but to think that I could not ease it or bring it under control was really having a negative psychological effect on me.
I began to do a little research on the disease and I have found a combination of a number of things which have made a 'night and day' difference to me.
The following is what I am doing:
1) Drink between 6 and 8 pints of water per day.
2) Apply twice daily Aveeno Dermexa Moisturising Cream (this is the stronger of the two Aveeno creams)If possible, when applying going to bed try and not wear and night attire below the waste.
3) Shower each morning, low temperature, applying Aveeno within 3 minutes after dabbing yourself dry with a soft towel. Do not rub.
4) Bathe twice weekly in a luke warm bath with 6 tea spoons of Psoriderm Emulsion Bath Additive added. Soak for 5 minutes and dab towel dry only.
5) Apply the Aveeno cream within 3 minutes after drying to allow maximum effect.
6) Cut down on over consumption of coffee and tea.
7) Cut down on dairy products. I use goats milk in the tea/coffee.
8) Cut down on red meat eg steak and ham.
9) Cut down/out sugar in your tea/coffee, biscuits, sweets, basically anything sweet. Do not use sugar substitutes (seeteners) as they contain ingredients which can trigger psoriasis.
10) Alcohol is also a contributor to triggering psoriasis as it contains a lot of sugar. So you need to reduce your consumption also.
11) Try and avoid stressful people/situations
After 2 weeks I have all but cleared my psoriasis.
The very best of luck.
Kind regards,
John

Pure Petroleum Jelly!!!!! Try it with a warm Dead Sea Salt Water bath at the end of your day or twice a day if you can for 15-20 minutes! I tried this for the first time yesterday and my psoriasis symptoms are 50% better then what they have been. All my red spots and patches are really light almost like a very light peach/pink color, kind of blends into my natural skin color. I had red dots all over my thighs and when i woke up about 20 minutes ago I was the happiest i have been in a month and a half, no red dots at all on my thighs.
here's what i have done so far
-100% Pure Petroleum Jelly!!! about 3 to 4 times through out the day.
yes it very thick and oily but it works!
-Dead Sea Salt Bath for 15-20 minutes.
Warm Water, add about 1/2 a cup of Dead Sea Salt (i bought it at walmart, cheap! Brand : Dead Sea Classics Dead Sea Bath Salts 100% Natural) Let your body soak in the water for about 10 minutes, after ten minutes scrub your skin to get dead skin off, soak for another 10 minutes. After bath, petroleum jelly your body, its easier when your skin in a little moist.
it has made a difference for me so far and i have only been doing this one day! reduces redness almost completly.
Psoriasis first appeared for me when i was 13. never had it anywere else except for my elbows, now im 18 and its all over my body. i live in miami so its hard for me to cover up from head to toe in this heat (although i broke out in November when the temp went down) I hate this skin desease, im tierd of explaning what i have, i'm tierd of 'is it contagious' im tierd of the rude stares. my little experiment is working for me so far and i hope it works for someone else.
ps. in walmart they sell this little soap bag which lets you put a soap bar inside and scrub your body, if you can find this 'loofa bag' i suggest that during your bath you throw in some dead sea salt and scrub , it stings for a quick second but it really helps.
wish me luch and i'll keep everyone posted!

Hans's Eczema & Psoriasis 'Cure'
Eczema and psoriasis can be significantly reduced with exercise and diet. Work out in the sun and get a sweat going. Don't go crazy and if you're not in shape, that's okay. Just get out there and walk until you get a sweat going.
Drink plenty of green tea along with turmeric (curry spice). Drink these together as they are much more powerful that way. Drinking curry spice is not fun, but it works miracles (for a whole host of inflammatory problems including cancer and Alzheimer's).
Remember, get a sweat going when working out. The sweat will really help reduce the condition naturally and safely.
Now, for the itch...
1. Use Aveeno brand liquid soap and Aveeno moisterizer, period.
2. Use Neutrogena 3% acid shampoo on your skin to remove plaques *gently* (about 5-10 minutes...apply once or twice and lather into skin). Do not re-injure the skin by scratching hard or using abrasion. This will only cause more inflammation. (now the dead skin cells causing the itch will be removed and ready for the next step...ZNP Bar Soap)
3. Buy ZNP Bar (pyrithione zinc 2%) which is a blue soap bar you can get at a pharmacy and stops the itchies quick! It'll also dry out your skin, so use plenty of Aveeno moisterizer.
4. Now use a calamine lotion or cortizone (if you haven't been using it for years because it becomes less effective or even triggers symptoms) to keep the area calm.
5. Exercise, exercise and exercise. Get a sweat going, in the sun (great place to get Vitamin D). Or, if that is not an option, get a Nintendo Wii and DDR. :)
I posted this in the eczema section, but am reposting this information:
Turmeric (the stuff in curry spice) is an incredible anti-inflammatory and will help all eczema sufferers. It is proven as effective as steriods/corticosteriods, but don't let the pharmaceutical companies know that.
Buy Turmeric from healthfood store in pill form or at your local grocery store in bags full (to save money) and take 3-6 pills 500mg daily. Or mix with tea or put in food.
Eczema has a link with Candida fungus. When you eat sugars, it feeds the fungus which causes your body to 'overreact' or become inflamed. Your immune system attacks fungus around your entire body including skin, hence the itchie, scaly skin. (it's actually more complex, but I am shortening it up a bit)
Avoid sweets, gluten, dairy or foods with fungus to balance out your intenstinal flora. Find out slowly how much sweets, etc you can safely eat w/o showing symptoms. However, I suggest detox for the first few weeks including lost of Omega 3's (from Salmon or flaxseed, perhaps).
Many dermatologist don't recognize the above well established science and prescribe dangerous drugs.
Eczema is genetic and enviromental based. This means that you can effectively cure it, although technically it is not curable.

I want to thank everyone for there post! I also want to remind people that psoriasis is different for every person what works for one might not work for anothere! I have had psoriasis for 20 ish years since I was about 7 and have tried a lot of stuff! I have found for me eucerin lotion helps and the stuff for craddle cap helps for my scalp BUT it makes your hair very greasy not recommended if u want to leave the house without a hat even with several washes its still yuck! Crisco helps on my knees and elbows. Corn husker lotion helps some people and tea tree oil helps some! My best friends psoriasis cleared up after using dove body wash. And some people take codliver oil tablets (YUCK I tried can't stand the taste)also if I take 2 tbls of applecider vinegar twice a day after several days it helps some but I have a weak tummy and struggle to do it continuously. Try think perfume free lotions in general. Also tanning or being outside helps and chlorinated pools help me! Always ask ur dr before taking stuff. And good luck!!

Something that has cleaned my scalp p was applying glycerin(usp). I rub it into my scalp at night and wash it out with a good shampoo in the morning (use one without sls). At first I used it twice a day to get my scalp under control, but once everything was cleaned up I cut it back to one application. Give it a try if you have any kind of p, its cheap and easy to use. Its definitely nice to have a dandruff, flake, skin free head again. Also if you haven't all ready, check out inspire.com they've got some good information over there.

Hi I have posted before about taking vitamin B12 and zinc...I'm happy to say my palms and the sole of my feet are great! (I used Vaseline too, also worked great.) My feet and hands were so bad I had band-aids everywhere because of all the cracks. I stopped using all the medicines that the doctors had me get, because they didn't work. This is a immunity system problem, that is why the B12 works. Good Luck

i`m 25 yrs old and my psoriasis is kind of strange because till now it has appeared only two times during my life and in different forms...the first time i was 17 years old and i had psoriasis on my ankles, palms of my hands, knees...basically everywhere where one bone would connect with another one. At the time, i was not so sure what it was (i got sure this time when the P returned)and did not give the attention that i`m giving now, but the time when i got P was more or less the time when i was planning my vacations. i went to the mediterranian sea in greece and there i met this old lady which had psoriasis for years and she just said to me: 'NO STRESS AND SEA'. it worked 10 days of sun and sea and the psoriasis was gone!!! i forgot about it until two weeks ago my body got covered with red itchy spots, i mean the whole body (except for the face and my back)including genitals and breasts. after a few days the red spots got bigger and bigger and i went to the doctor which confirmed me that it was psoriasis. i realized that the only common thing between the first psoriasis and the second one was that i was overstressed at both times. for the second one my doctor advised me to make a test to check about streptococcus because in most of the cases one of the reasons why psoriasis shows is because of an streptococcus infection. the allowed level for streptococcus in our bodies is 200 and mine was 212 so basically the cure that i`m following now is: ciprofloxacin and vit c for the streptococcus infection, calcypotriol 0,05 mg/g ointment with which i apply it to my body during the night and betamethasonum acidium salicylicum 30 g for the morning. It is working great! after 5 days my red spots are getting lighter and lighter and the itchiness is not so strong now (the first days was terrible). i`m also taking d12 vit and zync.
hope it will help anyone else...

Hey everyone. This sight is amazing! My son has had psoriasis since he was an infant. He is now 7. It started out as little red patches and I wasn't sure what they were. His ped told me it was impossible to be an allergy because children don't develop them until they are a year old. So we went to another doctor and another, tried treatment after treatment...this has been a constant in his life up unil about a year ago. It covered most of his body, and he would scratch and itch without even realizing he was doing it. I felt awful for him because nothing we had tried worked. One night we even took him to the ER because he got up in the middle of the night crying and his whole body was cracked and bleeding because he had scratched so bad in his sleep. About a year ago we went to yet another doctor, an Alergist actually. It turns out that he doesn't have an allergy but he treated him anyway after hearing our story. My son takes a 'bleach bath' 3 times a week (1/2 a cup of bleach to a full tub of water, soak for 10 to 15 minutes) and we rub vasaline ointment after. We ususally do this before bed so it has time to soak in. (I know this may seem strange, but think of is as swimming in a chlorinated pool. That seems to help a lot of P sufferers.) He also takes viatmin D suplements every morning (I noticed some other people on the site take these as well). He is completly cleared up! You'd never know he suffered with it for so long. The best thing for me was when he told me, 'Mommy, I look like a real boy! Like the other kids in my class' I almost cried! I hope this helps!!

I have had psoriasis for 24 years, and not once in that period of time has it gone completely. I have tried everything the doctor has given me, and the only prescribed cream that worked (really well actually) was Dovenix ointment. It's excellent and so is the scalp solution. I also found puva treatment effective. However, NOTHING was permanent and as soon as I stopped treatment the psoriasis would come right back, so obviously, for me anyway, traditional medicine was futile.
I went to see a 'kinesiologist' who did all these physical tests on me to find out what was wrong with my system, what I was lacking, what foods I was intolerant to. She told me I had a candida overgrowth and put me on a very strict diet (short term) with supplements (zinc, magnesium, enzymes and probiotics). I stuck to it for six weeks and didn't see much improvement but then after another couple of weeks it started to just fade away. ... It's a long story.. but I stopped the diet (it was Christmas) and my symptoms all came back. The psoriasis for me is directly linked to my digestive system. If it is slow, in other words I'm consitpated, then the psoriasis gets much worse.
The candida has now cleared up and I am now on a less strict diet, and the skin continues to improve. It is 95% gone. I genuinely can't believe it and I'm really proud of myself for sticking to the diet and beating the psoriasis myself. At the moment I have to avoid dairy produce, wheat, sugar, coffee and chocolate... I do have an instant coffee once a day (and the odd bit of chocolate etc. especially if I'm eating out) but on the whole I never cook with any of those foods and I don't eat processed/ready made food because they all contain these things. I have a very regular digestive system and I now wear short sleeves to work and I hadn't done that for a couple of years.
I believe the candida was the main aggravator of the psoriasis.. causes of this can be a high sugar diet and too many antibiotics... both possible for me. And I'm intolerant to the other foods mentioned, which is why I still need to avoid them. Maybe in a few years I will be able to start eating them again - apparently this can happen with food intolerance. It would be nice to eat pizza again!!
Good luck!!

***PLEASE PAY ATTENTION IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD IS SUFFERING FROM GUTTATE PSORIASIS (USUALLY BROUGHT ON AFTER A STREP INFECTION, PARTICULARLY STREP THROAT*** MY SON IS 100% CLEAR NOW AND HAS BEEN CLEAR SINCE I TOOK ON THIS PROBLEM AND TRIED A FEW INEXPENSIVE OPTIONS. THIS IS WHAT WE DID:
My son was 9 when he got guttate psoriasis after having strep throat. We spent a year going to a Derm Dr. and about $2,000 on prescriptions that produced no longterm results. I decided to STOP ALL medicine, and try some other options on my own. I spent days researching and this is what we tried and something worked. I don't know if it was a combination of all 4, or 1 of the 4, or 2 of the 4, but I WILL tell you- if you are like me, you are willing to try ANYTHING!! And like I said, all together, I spent less than 100 bucks.
1. Nelsons Sulphur tablets (I bought them at Fred Meyer store in the nutrition center, but they are easy to find online and cheap- $5.99 for a bottle and I only bought 2 bottles to clear him up) Follow the directions on the bottle.
2. We tanned him at a local tanning salon 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes. The light box at our Dermotologist was $125 a treatment, but you CAN tan in a tanning booth safely if you do it right. We started him at 5 minutes, and built up to 10 SLOWLY. There is always a little bit of risk, because the UV light is a little higher percentage than a Dr. light box, but the results have definately been worth it!! Just make SURE you don't burn even once!
3. We used an incredible topical skin healing agent called Helping Hand by The Naked Bee. All natural with honey, bee pollen, and propolis. (thenakedbee.com)
4. We gave him 1 oz. of Green Envy vitamin supplement/detox every morning for 1 month. We bought this at Costco for $19 which lasts 1 month.
We did these 4 things, and within 2 weeks he was mostly clear, and by 1 month. Totally clear, and has not recurred since. (it's been 3 months).
Good luck!

Jojoba Oil mixed with Coconut Oil: Like most people on this site, I've been trying everything since my break out 20 years ago. At first I would take whatever the doctors would tell me to take. Later I found out that none of the ointments my doctor was giving me were actually helping, they were just masking the problem. Steroids eat away at your epidermal, D creams are expensive and after awhile stop working. Both have horrible reactions if you try to stop.
Try to keep your skin happy. I've found that Jojoba Oil and Coconut Oil calm my psoriasis.

Stop eating dairy!! (try almond, rice or soy milk and cheese)the human body was never to consume dairy. Also cut out eggs (you can replace for baking an egg replacement) and then cut out gluten (you can still eat brown rice or some corn). I literally would scratch my skin off until I blead and always had horrible skin/breakouts and low energy (still trying to bounce back from that). But stop dairy, eggs and wheat/gluten and the extra perk is 20lb healthy weight loss!!! Not that hard, you can do it!

I've had psoriasis all my life and it has always been a problem for me. I'm 16 years old and I feel like i cant go out or do anything because people tend to stare at my skin. I have it all over my face, scalp, ears, neck, back and chest so it's very hard to try and cover up. I have tried soooo many different treatments but the ones from my doctor seemed to make it worse with redness and itching. I moved to Spain two years ago and in the summer months it completely vanishes but as soon as October arrives its back again. I have found that daily washes with warm water and a table spoon of sea salt really helped me but be careful i don't know if this would work for everyone as it can burn the skin if not rinsed off with clear water. Hope i help someone else.

I have tried saturating my scalp with apple cider vinegar (which apparently helps to re-establish the balance of the PH) -- put it on with a towel on your head for about 1/2 hour to an hour, then wash it out with an herbal shampoo for dry scalp that has natural oils (jojoba, olive, etc) and no sodium laurel sulfate. At night, rub aloe vera and jojoba oil into the scalp and sleep in it overnight to let it soak in. I have been doing this for 4 days and it is a miracle -- itching and flakes are almost gone.

I have had psoriasis for almost ten years now. I've tried everything from banana peels, to over-the-counter products like psoriacin, to prescriptions like clobetasol... None worked.
I recently discovered that I am pregnant, and I bought some lotion to help diminish stretch marks. I put the lotion on after I shower, and after one week, I noticed that my psoriasis is nearly gone! I can shave my legs now (those of you that have it on your knees and legs can appreciate this)!
The lotion is Palmer's Coco lotion for stretch marks. Make sure it is that particular brand and type... It will say, 'for stretch marks' on the bottle. I've tried coco butter and other palmers products but this is the only one that worked for me!
I attribute my clear skin to this lotion... It might be from my pregnancy, but I feel like the lotion did it. It's non-greasy, thick, and feels great on my skin. I haven't seen my real, normal, non-red, non-scaley knees or elbows in years! It's been a true blessing for me!;)
Good luck everyone! I pray this works for you as it did for me! Heather;) age 27

I have psoriasis with various size patches all over my body for the past 7 years. I have tried numerous ointments,(both prescription and nonprescription) vitamins and have given up wasting money on dermatologists. I have found out that using Vick's Vapor Rub or generic brands helps with itching and just after one application started rapid exfoliation of dead skin flaking. It may not have gotten rid of this disease but it does help with relief of pain and itching. Its inexpensive and why not give it a try?

I have had scalp psoriasis for many years. I have embarassing patches of hardened skin that flakes over suits. I used bryl bream (red) to attend a 60's party and did not wash it off until the next morning. Hey presto when I did shampoo my scalp was clear. I now use it once a week at night with a different old pillow case and it is totally gone. This was several years ago after over 20 years of suffering. I did forget to take it with me when I went to Africa for 3 weeks and it came back with a vengeance. One application on my return and totally clear again.

I have had psoriasis for 16 years I have tried every treatment known and the best thing is an aromatherapy blend which is lavender, geranium and bergamot mixed with a base cream, drops in the bath, or a burner most effective when applied to the skin twice a day!
isnt instant and takes time but it will go! well it went for me! using uv light i.e. sunbed helps aswell!

My husband has psoriasis for last 2 years,he gets small patches on hands and legs only. He tried lots of allopathic treatment which only work as long as it is on. In last 3 weeks he got all patches cleared by following diet : Juice of 1 bitter gourd + 1 ripe tomato + 1 Cucumber, early morning on empty stomach. 1 portion of orange or red fruit or veg ( papaya, orange, mango, carrot, beet, watermelon) thrice a day. Sardines or mackerels thrice a week. Apply emolient on affected area at least twice daily.

I have mild scalp plaque psoriasis. Sometimes I even get it on my elbows, knees and ankles. For awhile I had a really bad patch on one of my ankles (I've forgotten witch one it was). My cure is swimming in the ocean. Right now it is to cold however but I'm thinking about walking to the beach and just filling up a spray bottle with it to spray on my scalp.

I have had psoriasis on my stomach, ears, and scalp for as long as i can remember. my doctors always told me it was something other than it was, and had been giving me medication and ointments for other skin issues. just recently one doctor told me it was psoriasis and prescribed me triamcinolone acetonide ointment (0.1%)
and it has worked tremendously on my stomach and ears. my scalp im still struggling with. before i had this ointment i was using caseline and tee tree oil and neither were working. i would complain to my mother that as an athelete i couldnt run around in a sports bra like everyone else. and it was hard to change in the lockerrooms and have people ask 'why is your stomach red?' and stuff like that. or when people would say 'you should cclean your ears theyre falking', i was trying to find a way to cover it up and treat it and couldnt. but 2 days after i used that ointment my p was entirely gone! get some! it also helpps acne i hear :)
oh and also- yesterday kim kardashian found out that she has psoriasis also, so were not alone ;)

For my dry itchy scaly scalp problem which flares up now and then. I finally found that a natural product called Flexitol does a good job on the areas around the nose and scalp line. I also got some Jason's aloe vera(84%) shampoo and conditioner. I use lots of the conditioner and leave it on for as long as possible and don't overwash it out. It has worked really well. Remedy shampoo by Lanza is also a good alternate but the Jason's product is the best so far.

I wish I had a remedy but I don't. I have severe psoriasis currently on my knees and my ankle. I use to also have psoriasis on my elbows and fingers, however, for some reason those spots cleared up and it has not returned. I will tell you that I believe I got psoriasis in the spots that I had severe injuries as a child. When I was young I fell on our hot tar roof, both knees were inbedded with pieces of tar. I was not taken to the doctor so I don't believe my knees ever healed correctly. I also suffered an ankle injury. If you suffer a severe injury please make sure you have the wound cleaned well and healing properly. I truly believe those injuries caused the psoriasis to appear years later. If you see that your nails are pitted yet you do not have psoriasis
make sure you pay attention to any injuries to prevent the onset of psoriasis. Stress also plays a major part in psoriasis.

My son has had horrible plaque psorasis for a very long time. Its from his knees down, very think, very scaly with some itching, becoming intense at time. I have see several doctors who say they cannot do anything due to his age. We have had a cream that was Rx'd for him, work for a while, quit. Ive did all that I know to do for him.
The first thing I tried was actually an ointment that I got from a tatoo shop, in a small tin canister, the name has left me at this time. I was desperate for something and it worked!!! I ran out, and my friend went out of business and I haven't been able to find it. I am thinking it had hemp in it. cleared it up quick!
Next thing I tried was Dead Sea salts purchased at walmart in a large jar, since, after his trip to the beach, he came home with 0 Psoriasis, he soaked in a tubfull of the salt, and while towling off, the scales came off too..leaving pink, tender skins underneath, I applied babyoil. That worked until he got older and was just not going to bath like that.
Next thing I took him back to the doctor, got the same reply, nothing. I think proceded to just let it go. During the summer is was hardly noticiable, but when winter set in it was worse than ever, covering his legs completley, with cracks and bleeding. He actually has two scars from this.
I went to the dept. store and bough psoriangel and it was amazing at how it worked so well, we used that and it brought it off his legs, but left the plaque on his knees and ankles, but it was undercontrol. It quit working. We have moved on to Dermarest Psoriasis Medicated moisturizer, large tube, last a long time had 2% of salicylic acid.
This worked super great at first, cleared it all up, my son could actually see his knees for once, but alas, it quit working.
Your best bet is to go with the dead sea salt soak bath, immediatley dry off paying attention to the affected area to try to scrub off all the scales you can, then apply a lotion that has dead sea minerals in it. I had some from AVON, Im sure you can find lotion with dead sea salt in it online. Sea Salt is the key! Also, winter months are worse because more clothes have to be worn, which keeps the disease in the dark. My son sleeps in shorts so his legs can 'breath' this helps too! Good Luck and I hope at least one thing I said can help someone, like they say, no two people are the same!

My daughter had psoriasis develop when she was six years old. I tried steroids the doctor gave me, the over the counter products, and nothing seemed to help. One day her grandma brought over some cod liver oil supplements for us to try. What we did was poke a hole in the pill and rub the oil on her spots. Within two weeks her spots started disappearing... it was amazing...just thought others might want to know about this.

I'm 22 years old and I've had psoriasis off and on for 12 years now. I've used just about every prescription cream and ointment you can think of and have had some success in the past but now in the last 2 years I've started to flare up and the creams that used to work no longer help. I still go to a dermatologist every couple months because I do take some medication to help. But last week I started to go tanning and using this cream and spray I found online Champori and after only a week I've had some promising results. I use it on my thicker plaques on my knees and elbows mainly which have really lightened up in a week. Hopefully it continues because it is much cheaper than all the presciption creams.

I have been dealing with scalp psoriasis for several years, only finding out last summer what the problem was. I've tried the Rx shampoos (VERY costly!!), the Neutragena, the store brand salacylic acid shampoos ... you name it! I've gotten two good suggestions from this forum ... fresh aloe vera and Dead Sea salts. I scraped out the insides of the aloe leaves into a blender, then used a meat flavor injector (needle removed!!)syringe to target the affected area. It worked very well. What has also helped me is Dead Sea Mud shampoo. Regular use of this shampoo has kept my condition down from severe to mild. One last suggestion: Natur-Leaf supplements. They regulate the immune system so that if your immune system is over-active it calms it down or under-active it boosts it. I hope you find this information useful.

try Baby's Butt-Aid from the Dollar Tree store. The scales have stopped even the redness is gone
only Baby's Butt-Aid (which is the name) from the Dollar Tree store works it comes in a yellow tube.
just put on the thinnist layer
we are up to over a dozen people with plaque psoarsis it has cleared up. still using it continually once a day. be sure to shower using head & shoulders for your soap or equiv.
We stumbled on this by trying everything on the market, we found everything works to a slight degree but after using for a short time the psoarsis came back. With the Butt-Aid it has stayed away.!!!!!!

Forget the creams and ointments. I've tried them all. I went to see an orthopedic Dr for back pain and mentioned to him I had psoriasis and he told me to take 5000 mg of vitamin D a day. A month and half later the psoriasis is almost completly gone on my legs. I know the drs say supplements don't work but it did for me. Its cheap and what do you have to lose? But you gotta keep at it for it to work!

I am a 175 lb 51 year old male who is otherwise healthy. I have had a mild case of psoriasis for years without really knowing what it was. I had these white bumps on my elbows and on some on the knuckles of my right hand. I finally asked my doctor about them and he gave me a physician sample cream that did the job but they returned once I stopped using the cream.
I had occasion to visit a dermatologist who told me there is nothing I could do so not to worry about it. It was at this point I Googled psoriasis home remedies and found this link at the beginning of August 2011.
I scrolled through the various submissions. There were several recommending Vitamin D and fish oil and those caught my eye. Coincidentally, I had just bought cod liver oil for my dog as the vet had recommended it for his coat.
Well, I must say the results have been wonderful! I have been taking this combination for over 5 weeks and the bumps are 95% eliminated and they continue to diminish each day. Needless to say, I am very happy to contribute back to this healing thread.
Previously, I was taking a multi-vitamin which contained 400 IU and 2 tabs x 1000 IU Vitamin D. The suggestions from this site seemed to recommend 6000 IU plus fish oil. Therefore, I upped my Vitamin D from 2 tabs to 5 tabs for a total 5000 IU + 400 IU from the multi + a teaspoon of cod liver oil has another 400 IU of Vitamin D plus 4000 IU of Vitamin A. This combination seems to be doing the job for me.
I have fair skin so I had previously done some research on Vitamin D. All the reviews were favourable and there did not seem to be any downside for taking too much so I felt very comfortable when it came to increasing the dosage. For greater comfort, I would certainly recommend you do your own research on this matter.
I hope this will help contribute to your healing as much as the other submissions did for mine. Good luck!

I was 6 years old when I was first diagnosed with scalp and skin psoriasis. I am now 45 years old and I still haven't found a remedy that works beyond a six-month period! Seriously, I have had all kinds of prescription and OTC meds, alternative and complimentary potions, lotions as well as all manner of dietary restrictions. Today I am a 5'2' 80lb non-smoking teetotal caffeine-free vegan woman who does yoga every morning and meditates every evening. Go figure! Having said that, what's been working for me - and when i say 'working' I mean keeping the existing lesions bearable - is organic virgin coconut oil. I use non-soap coconut oil bar to wash, generously slap on the oil twice a day plus the lotion several times during the day. I've been on this 'program' for the past 3 years and I find that it helps with the scarring, relieves the itching, soothes irritation and helps heal injury and trauma when I give myself a good ol' scratch! It's worth investing in the good stuff because as we know chemicals only aggravate matters. I use OrganicFiji but there are several good organic products out there. Hope this helps

first of all: thank god for this forum!
a year and a half ago i decided i was going to dye my hair black. i bought the dye from a pharmacy, went home and did it myself. my scalp burned me a little bit, but i didnt think anything of it. a month goes by, and i decide im going to dye it again... but THIS time, theres more burning. after i washed my hair of the dye concoction, i saw that my scalp had really reacted to the dye. there were little black spots of dye actually IN my skin! completely ignorant and stubborn, i just scratched the affected area of the weird burn and went on with my life. i dyed it a 3rd time (happened to be my last as well) and this time the pain was unbearable. the same black spots appeared, but this time they were much bigger and the areas that hurt me had some kind of peeling going on! needless to say i (finally) started to freak out.
i had always had a very mild flaking on my scalp, but now i had huge pieces of skin itching like crazy & lifting off my scalp. i was 22 at the time this all happened, and it was right before my wedding :(
i ended up going to a dermatologist, and she told me that this was a common problem with girls who used store-bought dyes to color their hair. the chemicals are POISONOUS, and she said she was treating a hair stylist with recently developed eczema too. she gave me ketoconazole 2% shampoo & derma-smoothe/FS scalp oil. they worked really well for a short while, but the problem kept coming back. i also didnt like that i would have to keep going to the dr to get a prescription filled for these products.
i needed something sustainable over time if what i read about psoriasis is true: chronic, no cure, flares over lifetime, etc.
THATS WHEN I FOUND THIS SITE <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
i have been taking fish oil & vitamin D supplements for over a week now and my scalp has BARELY flaked!! i get out of the shower and let my hair air dry --which usually would make such a mess on my head and itch like crazy-- but not anymore! i also have been using a milder shampoo/conditioner: aveeno. love them!
this is something that i really recommened if your story is anything like mine. taking the supplements is sustainable because i will always be able to find them at any store, and im helping the rest of my body too! who would have thought that vitamin d deficiency could affect psoriasis! the body is amazing.
best of luck to anyone who has this problem! i wish you the best!

from WebMD: Indigo Naturalis cream, a traditional Chinese herbal therapy, proved safe and effective in clearing plaque lesions in patients with treatment-resistant psoriasis, a controlled study found. An ointment made from indigo naturalis, a dark-blue plant-based powder used in traditional Chinese medicine, appeared safe and effective in treating plaque-type, treatment-resistant psoriasis.
After 12 weeks, indigo-treated psoriasis lesions showed an 81% improvement, whereas lesions in the same patients treated with a non-medical ointment improved by 26%, Jong-Hwei Su Pang, M.D, of Chang Gung University and colleagues reported in the November issue of Archives of Dermatology.
In 74% of the patients, lesions treated with the indigo ointment cleared completely or nearly so, the researchers said.
If anybody tried Indigo Naturalis for their psoriasis, please share your experience.

I was a previous eczema sufferer and used creams to mask the issue. 4 years ago I went vegetarian and slowly psoriasis started to appear along with my continuing eczema (psoriasis on neck/shoulders/upper back/chest, eczema on inside of elbows and knees). For 4 years now I've been battling both and a friend told me his sister suffers from both, went to the doctor to have her vitamin D levels tested. Well they were pretty low so the doc put her on vitamin D supplements and now she is all better. I have been trying all sorts of vegan/raw/organic diets. I tried kelp, wheatgrass, spirulina and chlorella. Nothing really helped. I started taking 6000IUs of vitamin D3 like my friend suggested and sure enough my psoriasis is starting to improve. Also I spend about 15 to 30 min during the summer in the sun to get extra vitamin D. I really like to wear tank tops and shirts that show my upper torso but it's hard with the psoriasis...but I will keep this up and report back on my results soon!

Someone on this site recommended using aloe vera gel for their psoriasis saying that they were afforded great relief. Well, I'm here to tell you that I am SO GLAD that I read this person's suggestion. Because I have scalp psoriasis, it's difficult to get anything past my hair and onto the scalp. I opted to use several fresh leaves from my aloe vera plant, carefully removing one side of the skin and scraping the inside jelly into a dish. I tried to mash and whip it with a fork, but it still stayed fairly slimy and my husband did his best to try getting it down onto my scalp. The next day my head felt better and, to my delight, the dried aloe 'goo' brushed out clean (quite the opposite of Vick's Vapo Rub!!). The next night I put the freshly scraped gel into my mini food processor and liquified it. I then took the metal tip off my poultry flavor infuser syringe and sucked up the liquid. My husband found that this was a much easier and effective method for application ... not to mention it gave him fuel to tease me about his 'basting' my head! :-) I've done this for 4 nights and my scalp is SO MUCH better!
Someone else mentioned mixing Neutragena T-Gel and T-Sal, which is what the dermatologist had recommended I do. I've not been impressed with the results. However, I did find a new shampoo at Wal-Mart called Dermarest (Del Pharmaceuticals). It is a shampoo/conditioner in one. While I still felt I needed to put conditioner on the ends of my (shoulder-length) hair, it didn't leave my scalp tight and dry feeling like the 50/50 mixture does.
So, right now I feel I'm on the right treatment path ... fresh aloe vera gel at night and the Dermarest shampoo a couple of times per week.
Also, do your best to keep your stress at bay, even if it means using herbal stress relievers. I am not an Herbalife distributor but I've tried one of their products called 'Relax Now' and it works quite nicely. Unlike St. John's Wort and some of the others, you can use it daily.
Has your dermatologist mentioned that psoriasis is an auto-immune disease and can be caused by an imbalanced immune system? Probably not. They're too into prescribing steroids and other disturbing pharmaceuticals. Plant sterols/sterolins have been found to put an immune system back into balance whether over-active or under-active. There is a product called 'Nature Leaf' that is said to have the highest, most effective concentration of plant sterols/sterolins currently on the market.
I hope that you can use this information and that it will help you as it seems to be doing for me. Take care.

I have tried everything I have heard of and nothing takes my psorisis away completely but I have found that products with 'dead sea salts' certainly diminished the effects. It makes the skin softer and the area has become smaller also. If you are looking for a product with dead sea salts I have found one that works well for me It's AHAVA. I use the foot treatments because they have a higher level of dead sea salts in it and the cream is thicker. Hope this helps.

I was diagnosed with psoriasis when I was 18, and I am now 35. I have tried every possible over the counter and prescription medications, including toxic meds to lower my immune system. Sure some of them did actually work while I was on them, however, most medications can only be taken short term and once discontinued the psoriasis came back worse than what it started as. Persistent to find some solution to this uncomfortable problem I have tried every remedy available and have found one that works for me and anyone I have passed it on to.
Here goes:
Soft water softner. Here is the best part, it only costs 3.95 at Wal-Mart.
Since I cannot afford to have a system put into my house, I used my creative ingenuity and made my own. (I did try just putting it in a bath and soaking for 20 minutes a day, way too time consuming) so here is what I did....
1. I bought a small laundry bag ( the ones you wash your fine washables in the washer)
2. Put approx. 2-3 cups of the softener pellets in the bag, do not zipper bag. You are going to use the opening of the bag to put the bag over your shower head.
3. You need to find something elastic to attatch the bag to your shower head. I used a thin scrunchie hair band. It held the bag in place for the water to run through the pellets and then on me. Shower as you normally would. You do not need to rinse this off with regular water.
Note: When you first start this it may burn if you have open lesions, keep with it, and that will stop within a few days. And your lesions will heal.
I did this twice a day for one month, and within one week, the itching was nearly gone, within 2 weeks the plaques were broken up into dots, the continuing weeks the dots became smaller and smaller until they were gone. Now I shower with it once a day, just for precaution.
If you are on prescription medicines, do not just quit taking them. Try this with your medications, and then talk to your doctor about discontinuing your medications.
I will honestly tell you I have no idea why this works, but it does. By no means am I saying this is a cure, as I on occassion have outbreaks when I eat my trigger foods. However, I resume to showering twice a day and stay away from the food that brought it about again.
If you are sick of this disease, and your bank account drained because of expensive treatments. Try it, what do you have to lose. About $5 and a 25 minutes a day for a month.

I have had psoraisis for years. I have found that if you use a shampoo without the lauryl sulfate that your salp won't itch. I have used Denorex which works wonderfully. You can also buy burts bees shampoo and that is lauryl sulfate free. Make sure your conditioner is the same way.

MUST READ!!!!!
My dermatologist recommends this to patients after I informed her of my positive results more than 20 years ago. I never had to go back again.
QUICK AND EASY CONTROL THAT REALLY WORKS AND IS VERY EASY TO DO. Unfortunately there is no cure for psoriasis, eczema and seborrhea dermatitis. Here's a quick and simple method of constant control I've been using since I was 18 years old. I'm now 45. JUST MIX NEUTROGENA T-SAL WITH NEUTROGENA 'EXTRA STRENGTH' T-GEL 50/50. Leave on scalp for 5 minutes while you're showering and then rinse and repeat but for only 1 minute the second time. My scalp has felt almost normal for over 27 years. My hair has even stopped falling out. My brother had the same problem and it worked for him also. The T-SAL breaks down the crusting so it can be easily rinsed away and the X-STRENGTH T-GEL stops the flakes from returning. (TRY IT, IT WORKS SO YOU CAN STOP SUFFERING)

I have had psoriasis for almost 2 years. I recently ran across a lady from India who advised me that sea salt helps. She also advised me to take one sea salt/epsom salt bath a week and a oatmeal bath the following day. The sea salts helps remove toxins from your body while the oatmeal helps moisten your body. Throughout the week take showers using dove but let the water immediately rinse as you wash so that it doesnt completely remove your natural body oils, take 2 cups of sea/epsom salt and pour into a warm bath soaking no more than about 30 mins at most. As you are letting your water run out of the tub rinse again with warm water, use soft lotion everyday. I personally have started using dove everything (soap, body wash, deodorant, and shampoo and conditioner) because it is very mild. The next day take an old stocking and fill the foot with real oatmeal and let it run under the faucet as you run a warm bath. Again 30 mins at most. Long shower with strong soaps reduce your body's oils and can cause your condition to worsten. I wont say this is the best thing to do for everyone, but my condition seems to be getting better by the week.

For scalp irritations I use a hair mask.
1 overripe avacado (mashed)
1 T. olive oil (or another oil that works for your psoriasis)
1 t. honey
mash it all together and apply to wet hair. I rub it into my scalp, too. seal it with a shower cap (saran wrap works just as well) and let it set for 30-60 minutes. It's great for my itching and it keeps my flakes reasonable. It is also great for restoring body and luster to limp hair!

Greetings, for the first time in two years ive been able to see my true skin tone. Im firmly against using pharmaceuticals. I finally tried using apple cider vinegar, both topically before bed time, and a teaspoon three times a day. I also use JASON aloe vera 84% cream, with supplements such as soy lecethin, omega 3 caps and sublingual golden seal root. Ive seen a dramatic change in less than a week. Im going to stick with it as it is a new thing , and we all know how this thing morphs...I also heard chineese herbal medicine is outstanding, once they have analyzed why one is prone to this disease. I guess that will be next if this fails. Be well, and good luck.

Hi, I would like to make a few comments. I've had Psoriasis since I was 2. I'm now 53. I've had some times when I was Psoriasis free. Each time, I was living in a semi-arid climate. Humidity seems to really make it worse. Also last summer, we took a 5 day trip to Black Hills in South Dakota. Its a higher elevation so you are getting more of the sun's radiation so I really tanned on my arms in particular and the Psoriasis on my elbows went from large patches to barely anything there and its been almost a year since and it hasnt increased at all. I plan to go back and soak up the sun all over this year. With that I would like to comment about those who saw results at the beach. The water, sun and wind can combine to make it easier to burn but also get the sun's radiation and that could be the real cause for your psoriasis improving rather than the salt. Or perhaps its a combination. If I ever wanted to get rid of it I would certainly move to a semi arid climate. Another thing I have started which will take time is to eat only organic and lots of fruits/veggies. I believe the toxins we have put in our bodies are the cause of many of our problems. We need to detox and eat healthy so our bodies can finally heal. I'm curious to see if this also affects the psoriasis which I would expect it should. We cant keep polluting our bodies and expect to be well. Thanks!

I've had Psoriasis since I was about 7, I am now 25. I’ve had severe scalp psoriasis since I was a teenager, and I’ve always had patches that come and go all over my body. I was diagnosed initially with eczema and was given topical steroids for treatment. I realized as an adult, and with research, I had psoriasis NOT eczema. Quite a difference in disease, but easily misdiagnosed. The medication I was prescribed is Diprolene (Betamethasone Diproprionate Augmented). It’s always worked for a while, and then with the stop of treatment, the patches always come back. I am currently uninsured and the medication is around $77 cash price. I was so happy to find this site and all the suggestions.
I didn’t however read about anyone having psoriasis around their eyes. Only around the age of 20 did this start to affect me. I would wake up with inner corners of my eyes swollen and cracked (to the point of bleeding and scabbing). This was EXTREMELY painful, especially near your eyes. I was unable to put anything near my eyes, being as to how dangerous it was. The steroid I was prescribed has a clear warning NOT to put near eyes, for a good reason. I asked my eye doctor what I should do to treat the psoriasis and he said that there were steroids in a much lower strength he could prescribe. The higher the strength, the higher the pressure becomes in your eye, which can cause HUGE problems. He did send me off with a script for a safer ointment, but a tube (no larger than my pinky) was $60. Sorry, way too expensive, and I wasn’t sure it was going to work.
Until recently did actually think to try Vaseline! It’s safe to put around your eyes (any medicated ointment has petroleum jelly in it already). Overnight I noticed a difference. The corners of my eyes had been cracked the night before, and the next morning, they were almost healed. My eyes were still a bit raw from rubbing my eyes in the middle of the night, but I had AMAZING results.
I apply Vaseline to the corners of my eyes after I shower and apply face lotion. (I can still apply eye make-up with no issues), and again before I go to bed. A little goes a long way. I also started applying Vaseline to my elbows and other affected areas. They have become less red and much less irritated. I haven’t been able to completely clear my psoriasis, but Vaseline does help a lot.
As for my scalp, I am going to try the sea salt water, as well as the apple cider vinegar soak, and olive oil overnight. I have used baby oil on my scalp in the past, overnight to sooth the itching and flakes—it has not always been successful. I’ll keep you posted! Good luck to all of you out there!
**Please keep in mind Psoriasis IS an auto-immune disorder. Many physicians are wary of putting patients with severe Psoriasis, plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis etc. on a Biologic medication (such as Humira, Enbrel, Stelara) because of the risks of cancer. I work for the manufacturer of one of the leading Biologics out there, and for MANY patients’ it is a miracle drug. Many of the manufacturers have financial assistance and there are independent co-pay foundations out there to help. If you are willing to learn more, PLEASE talk to your doctor and do some research. The risks can definitely outweigh the amazing life changing results.
Again, Good luck to all! <3

I am 48/172 Cms/Fair/Round Face/obese male. For last 8-10 years, I have been suffering from psoriasis as diagnosed by Allopaths. I face this problem only in the month of September-October and Mid February to Mid March (when weather changes from summer to winter and winter to summer). Sometimes the skin becomes so dry and hard that it cracks and bleeds and pains. But I never feel itching in the affected area.
I have tried allopathic medicines and ointments but could not click. For last 4-5 years I have been taking Chraita and Kuttaki (ayurvedic herbs) by soaking in glass of water in the night and drinking that water early morning, empty stomach. This works but I have to take every year whenever the season changes from summer to winter and winter to summer.

I am using aloe from the plant itself and it does help. It stops the itching and it looks better. I just put a drop of the sap on area and let it dry. I am not sure if it will heal it up but it sure does feel a whole lot better. I have tried about everything. Pills, lotions, even some weird stuff and by far this works the best. The good thing is an aloe plant is inexpensive compared to some of the stuff that has failed. I hope someone else can benefit from this.

Hi all.
I can strongly recommend a ointment called ''Triamcinolone Acetonide''.
I went to the doctors for a unrelated thing last week and he suggested it.
After only 1 day I saw a HUGE difference, the white scales completly vanished.
I have been using it twice a day for a week now, no more scales. The redness is still there but is getting better each day.
The best thing is that it was dirt cheap, I have a decent prescription plan and the small tube only cost me around 3 dollars.
I have had psoriasis for about 10 years now, steadily getting worse each year. I have spent probably Thousands of dollars trying to treat it.
This is by far the most effective thing I have tried.
I hope this helps someone, good luck to all of my fellow sufferers.

I just turned 19 two weeks ago and I've had psoriasis for about 5 years. I dealt with the whole conventional medicine thing for the first 2-3yrs. Eventually i began to see that it was a hoax for them to make more money. Anyway, once i began to get into the whole natural remdies, i eventually found a couple of things that worked for me. First, I visit a mineral lake twice every year. Found that works miracles. Secondly i cut out inflammatory food...re meat shelfish, junk food. I only drink water. But most importantly, thanks to a random woman i met in the supermarket that had psoriasis, I found that NATURAL ORGANIC COCONUT OIL works the best for me. I take 2 tablespoons a day and apply it to my skin basically like any oil after my shower. As a result, my skin has been clear for bout 2 yrs now.

Just started this about a week ago. I'M all ready seeing MAJOR improvements. I use Cetaphil Lotion and dead sea salts. Take 2 small hand fulls of Dead see salt, (you can buy at walmart for about $5), pour into a half bottle of cetaphil lotion. Make sure you dissolve the dead sea salt rocks thoroughly while shaking bottle to mix contents. Apply to affected areas, (not in scalp) You will start seeing results after about 2 applications. Keep doing this once a day, until skin is clear. Be warned, this my sting a little, I would not advise using on open plaques that are bleeding, it WILL sting! I also use H20 spa sea salt body wash. My skin is about 50% clear and getting better every day because of this treatment I came up with. Good luck!

I've always had a complex about it and as I get older it seems to be subsiding. I found that if you brush your affected areas with a loofer sponge in the shower with dove soap that I've always used will help. Also use vaseline intensive care total moisture conditioning lotion on your extremeties and affected areas 2-3 times daily, especially out of the shower has worked wonders for me and I can actually see my knees which I haven't seen in years. You should try it. You can get it in the supermarket or drugstore and its made me a very happy gal. Good Luck.

Saw Palmetto is a extract from the berry of the palm of that name and seems to have no adverse side effects. I hope this helps someone.

I had Psoriasis for many years and had tried many treatment options searching for cure. After much running about I found relief and have developed complete faith in traditionally used protocols that provide relief from this multi-factorial inflammatory skin disease. Biogetica – I have understood and experienced, the products in these kits improve skin function and cell-regeneration, and contain anti-inflammatory substances, which aid in relieving acute exacerbations. The innovative use of the Psorinum Nosode enables constitutional changes that reduce one's propensity to develop psoriasis. The therapies work internally, to eliminate the numerous underlying causes and triggers of psoriasis. They are safe and natural alternatives to Humira, Puva, Topicort, Anthralin and phototherapy.

Last week I started using olive oil, just a cheap brand from the supermarket, and it's nearly cleared completely. Well worth it.

My 5 year old son developed Guttate Psoriasis after a Strep Infection this summer and it has since taken over a small amount of his body.. He is on soo many meds and I was desperate to get him off the meds and try some home remedies.. Well I went on many blogs and found out that Vaseline really works AWESOME for him.. his face was covered with spots and scales from his hairline down to his eyebrows and he had some spots on his cheeks. I have applied Vaseline on his face 2 times a day for the past 3 days so far and his spot are almost completely gone. I also use an extra strength moisturizer on his face so it does not look so greasy for school. The spots on his body are a little tougher to get rid of, but I do see an improvement in the redness. I also use a gentle loofah pad with sentisive skin Dove to scrub the dead skin off.For his hair I read that mixing T-Sal and T-Gel together really works, so I tried it and have noticed a dramatic difference in his scalp itchiness and flaking. He seems alot happier too now that his face and scalp are not so itchy.. :) I have also purchased Dead Sea Salts since I have heard many good thing about it for Psoriasis.. Wish us luck and hopefully it will help along with the Vaseline..

I have had psoriasis for about three years now. The best way I have found to treat my condition is with Chammomile and Oatmeal. I read in one of my herb books that chammomile is used to treat common skin issues so I went to the grocery store and got myself some tea and lotion. I soak in a combination of tea bags (3-4) and oatmeal for aprox 20min. Dry off well removing all the dry skin and then I apply chammomile lotion 2-3 times daily and within a week my psoriasis is normally cleared up.

I would strongly recommend trying this. Apply distilled vinegar to open psoriasis it will string but that is good that means it is working. I just put some on toilet paper and let it soak in. Make sure that the vinegar goes into the skin so no flakes. I just scratch at them to make bleed to get into the skinIt take many time but will disappear. I get them on my knees and elbows but they are gone.I also had one on my eyelid for many many years and I tried it it is gone!!! I hope this works for you like it did me. Please let me know what you think in the comment box.

22 years old, been living with this since I was 15. Whenever I get breakouts it's literally from head to toe. Every time I visited the doctor it was USELESS. What works best for me now has been just staying healthy. I used to stay up late at night, drink, and not pay attention to what I ate. When I actually made the effort I saw a great improvement. When I do get breakouts though I always lay in the sun (sunscreen!) or under a UV light, and use Aveeno products. Also I just apply a good amount of unscented lotion every other hour or so. Hope this is helpful.

I am not sure if I have eczema or psoriasis, but I read something in my local paper that suggested rubbing a banana peel on affected psoriasis areas once a day. It was said that after 3 days the patches were 90% clear. I have tried it for almost a week now and have found that, once the burning stops, it does help, and the redness has improved alot. The itching comes back so I was wondering if more than 1 application would help? I think my main problem is that I can't seem to stop scratching, most time I don't realize what I am doing untill it is to late! Very painful and bleeeding, but not itching lol. I wish I could banish it forever.

I have psoriasis and I had major flaking in my scalp. I started using DR miracles oil and shampoo on my scalp and it keeps my scalp flake free.

Right now suffering from psoriasis I believe it's what it is(scratching nonstop which worsten and helps spread out). I had this few years ago and thought I got it from using old Jergens Petroleum Jelly (infested with micro fungus perhaps)found together with other body lotions under sink cabinet. This was few years ago. Now I am not sure what I applied on my skin...I suggest you throw away any beauty products 2 months old or more. But from doing research, I discovered being unhealthy and staying up late makes you vulnerable to skin allergy reactions. Also causing your body to dispose toxins through skin. I am not a food hungry eyes person. So I just eat whatever parents served and simply take supplements after--I mostly eat once or twice a day. But been weeks since I ran out of supplements...So I guess I have been vulnerable to rashes. To know if rash is going away, if it tends to flatten and spreads wide to levelling with unaffected skin.
Here's what I tried that works and didn't work:
1. Fragrance free lotion but gradually helps ease the itch and of spreading out. Safe-zone solutions if you got patience to waiting for days and days until rash goes away. Even using Sarna Sensitive (anti-itch lotion for Eczema and for other sensitive skin). Must apply frequently to avoid the pain.
2. Alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide is a NO NO. I even mixed these together day after. Only swollens the rash--tends to severe the rash if skin is dry and too much chemicals.
3. Salt & water helps ease the pain but have not seen results whether if curing the rash. But minutes later back to itchy skin......
4. Vicks Vapor Rub does help ease the pain but minutes later....itchy skin again. But does help shed the scales on the rash--of mother rash it shows. Apply only less than half of affected body and wait until the freezing cold feeling disappears. Then apply on the other half. You would not want to freeze to death -_-
Here is my new attempt (hoping will work wonders):
Wash skin with very warm water. Then apply salt/water and let it dry. Then wash the crystals with warm water. Then use white plain vinegar and let it dry for minutes. Then wash it off again. Then apply Vicks. Or next day I will use Sarna instead of Vicks or Sarna and Vicks.
I will update soon.

Using Johnson's Baby Shampoo and Rainbow Souffle Dead Sea Salt body scrub works well. You first wash with Johnson's Baby shampoo like a body wash. Rinse. Wash with Rainbow Souffle. Rinse.Dry!!! That's it. Quick, easy and works. Your body will be so smooth and you will feel instant result's on the first time use. The product's are inexpensive too. I use them all the time. I suffered with Rosacea and acne for 20ish years. Tried everything, also went to Dermatologist. Nothing worked. By accident and being desperate in experimenting I came across these two products and they have worked for me ever since. Hope this has helped you.

I am 61 and had Psoriasis since I was 16. There are several different types.
Mine WAS dry crusty scales. I read about a guy who advocated Cod Liver Oil.
Now this only works if your s responds to sunshine, like over a holiday it looks better! If so its the vitamen D thats doing the trick. So lots of Cod Liver Oil. Forget capsules, treated oil etc. use only Pure Liquid and its cheap
from the Supermarket ( use their own) How much should you take, well forget RDA's you need three Teaspoons a day. At first it tasdtes awful but after a while its OK. The only side effect is
greasy stools when you go to the loo. So no constipation either. 2 - 3 months it will be gone! Reduce the dose to one Teaspoon a day to maintain skin like a baby's.

I was diagnosed with psorasis 1 yr ago, it rapidly worsend until I got cellulitis in my legs from the itching and broken skin and was hospitalized twice. A nurse showed me how to care for the condition on my feet and within 2 weeks of leaving the hospital my skin was mostly healed and pink. This is my regimen:
1.Daily after bathing ( twice a day) I use a wound cleaner called SkinIntegrity which thoroughly removes any dead skin and bacteria. It also soothes the skin and not alcohol based.
2. I use over the counter Psoracin-gel or ointment which is coal tar based. It heals the broken skin and the redness disappears very quickly.
3. If I am not going to wear socks or plan to expose my skin to the environment, by walking in sandals, I will apply a light layer of some petroleum based, vitamin enriched skin barrier, like Aquaphor. This is to just protect skin from bacteria penetrating any small, not yet healed area and retain moisture in the skin wwhich is very important. It has been two months since the hospital stay and my feet are at their best in over a year.
three doctors who treat me are amazed at the rate of recovery with my new regimen. I also have been doing a liver detox along with digestive enzymes that I was told would help. I also do not eat pork at all, which seems to flare the psorasis when eaten...and I used to really enjoy pork. I was so desperate, I am glad that I found something that really works or me. Good luck to all of you.

I have had Psoriasis all of my life. Recently a doctor suggested a combination that works great. I use neutrogena shampoo tgel and t scalp every other day. Really helps control the dandruff and dry skin. Also, I wash my face with a mild soap such as Cetapohil and apply hydrozine anti itch cream to my problem areas. This works great!

I have had psoriasis for the past 20years, and have tried countless treatments, both prescription and home remedies, with little to no relief. Lately, I have been eating a cereal that contains flax seeds every morning, and you wouldn't believe the difference! I won't claim that this is a wonder-remedy, because I still do have the plaques, but they have thinned out a lot, and are not nearly as red or painful as before.
You can find flax seeds in the health food section of many grocery stores, and can sprinkle them in yogurt or in your favorite cereal, or whatever other variation you can think of.

I'm 19 years old and i just deveolped psoriasis. I'm trying to find the best remedy for it. I literally just developed psoriasis this week. But i thought id share a remedy from witnessing it. My grandmother had it all over her body even on her face. My brother who is now 20 had scalp psoriasis. My brother who had scalp psoriasis used a shampoo called T-gel. It can be found at any grocery store or pharmacy. He used it for about a month or so and the psoriasis disappeared after ritual use. It has been gone and hasnt come back for about 5 years now. I would recommend using that if you have psoriasis on your scalp. I read that products that have tar in it really helps.. and this shampoo is for many things such things simple as dandruff to psoriasis. I recommend it. I do not have scalp psoriasis. I just developed it on my right index finger tip. I thought i had very dry skin that was irritated but i found out its psoriasis, i will be seeing a dermatologist this week to see what he recommends. But if anyone has any recommendations for me that really worked for you please let me know.

Hi,
Aquired this problem 5 yrs ago. I have had very scaly and pustular skin all over, elbows, scalp and other places we do not discuss. I love wearing shorts, but massive patches on your lower legs making it a no no to wear shorts in the summer.
I do believe stress is a trigger for this.
However, my relief came from softening the affected area with sea salt bath, dermovate, and then shave the area so it cant re grow.
I then apply Johnsonsons baby oil and aloe vera cream after. You can also use aloe vera fake tan to hide the scars.
I must say I now go down to the pub on a warm summer night with a degree of confidence that my legs dont scare people.
Aloe vera, baby oil and shave the affected area so regrowth of skin is reduced.

Topically with a q-tip, I applied the following directly on the psoriasis sites on my scalp with the following items i already had in my own medicine cabinet at the time: Bayer Healthcare's Dermal Therapy Heal Care Cream (25% urea) in combination with Vitamin E gel, Aloa Vera gel and then a few drops of 'Obey your Body' cutical oil (with original dead sea minerals) then it was amazing. in only 2 days my scalp was soaking in the goodnesss and the scales disappeared and the red is greatly disappearing, the itch is gone and the psoriasis hold on my scalp seems to be leaving, hopefully for good! PS I sat out in the sun for a little while after that and shampoo only with nutragena TGel or Sgel

My son has a very treatment resistant form of psoriasis. I read about rubbing the inside of banana peels on the patches and it has really worked for him. It does really burn! It looked the best it has in years, though and is very easy and cheap! After a couple weeks, it started to return, though....the pharmacist suggested taking breaks from it, like a week on and a week off so that it doesn't become resistant.

I have found that Medicated Chapstick helps a lot. it takes the burn away, puts moisture in it, helps the redness go away. I just started using it a few days ago, but so far its a great thing! It's cheap, and it doesn't burn my skin. Can find it at any store, will definitely help when I don't have my Enbrel!

I am jeff age 12 and have had psoriasis since I can remember the best thing to do for my scalp is I use rubbing alchol in a eye dropper and put that in and let It set for a bit( it may burn but you get used to it) like say about 5 min then you take a fine tooth conb (ace hard rubber are the best)and take it out by hand and if you do this every other day it will go away! You have too keep on it though and even after is clear you have to keep appling rubbing alchol (even if it burns)! This works for years if you don't keep appling the alchol but if you do there should be no problem.!
Good luck!!

200 gr pot containing:
Coal Tar 10%
Salicylic Acid 6%
Dermol Ointment 42% (prescription needed)
in Emulsifier
I saw the brilliant results of this on a friend's skin and asked my pharmacist to make it for me. That was 5 years ago and I've used about 1/4 of it. One or two applications clears up an outbreak perfectly. I thoroughly recommend it!!

Have had psoriasis for about 6 years. For my scalp I used coal tar shampoo a couple of times a week. It smells awful but cleared it up. For the rest of my body I have tried about everything and the best thing for me was the tanning bed.

I have tried presciptions that I couldn't afford and didnt do anything. I tried psoriasis lotions. Cod liver oil that I heard a board like this helped a little but didnt make it go away.
I one day found some bag balm I had in my house. I have been using it 1-2 times a day for almost 2 weeks and my psoriasis is about 90-95% improved. Bag Balm is fairly reasonably priced and comes in a nice sized contanier. this is something that works for me.

Hi all, i have been living in mexico for the past 6 months and for some reason, my psoriasis got really bad, worst its been ever, I am trying a home remedy that was sugested from a friend. Take 10 egg shells and clean them well with water..NO SOAP. Put the eggshells(crushed) in a stainless stell bowl and add enough white vinager to cover the eggshells, wait 4 days and strain the mixture. It will create a sludge... Apply the sludge on affected areas on clean dry affected areas an wait one hour and rinse. Im doing it tomorrow, will keep you posted.

I am 21 and have had psoriasis for as long as I can remember. Mine takes the form of small scales all over my body. Within the past year or so the condition of my skin has gotten better and I believe I have been able to identify the sources of this improvment.
Firstly my attitude towards my skin. I know it sucks but it is the way things are and I have it and their is no sense hiding it or locking myself in a room. If it freaks people out that is their problem, if they ask me what it is, I just tell them. I still have friends I am engaged to be married, life still goes on. I believe this attidute has helped because the external is a representation of the internal.
Secondly the medicine I use. Firstly when I am in the shower I wash my hair with T-gel or a similar brand. Any shampoo that uses tar coal as the active ingredient. I then use a body exfoliator. The brand I use and have had great results from is 'firming' Body/Corps by Sundari. It comes in a big tub and is great for srubbing off the old dead skin. Then I use a bar of tar coal soap. I don't know what it is with tar coal it just has always worked. Then when I am done showering I use a moisturizer either baby oil or something with aloe.
Thirdly the RX drugs. The only one that I have come to respect is Ulox foam. It is a steriod and a strong one. However when I add it to my routine, before moisturizing, the effects are dramatic and long lasting. For example after having used the steriod three times; once in the morning, again at night and then once more in the morning, my psoriasis will be reduced to white patches where the red plaques used to be. And they will remain that way for roughly a week, at which point my skin will again begin to flair.
I hope this helps someone, I would highly recommend the body scrub.
