Scared to cut your guinea pig's nail for the first time?
That's alright, because here are some tips to make it a quiet soothing bonding time.
1)If you don't have the Styptic powder. You can use corn starch.
2)You can feed your guinea pig it's favorite treat to make it soothing.
3)Talk to it soothingly.

Hope this helped!

If you happen to find a baby bird or birds without their mother what do you do? Well if they are covered in feathers then you should probably do nothing. Observe them from a distance and wait to see if their mother comes for them. But if they are bald or have pin feathers(look like pins sticking out of the birds skin) then you may have to care for them. You should always try to contact a wildlife agency to come and get the bird or birds, but if you have NO OTHER OPTION then hopefully my information will help you to care for the birds ONLY UNTIL THEY CAN FLY AND BE RETURNED TO THEIR NATURAL HABBITAT!
OK, first get the birds into a warm dry , and clean place. A cardboard box with some sort of liner will work fine. If you feel like they will be more comforable you can even make a nest out of a bowl with a old washcloth in it or toilet paper works great too. The bird or birds will eat ALOT also so feeding them if ver imporant also. NEVER feed a baby bird bread or insects....that includes earthworms. Either give them canned dog food of you can take dry dog food and soak it in warm water. Then makevery small bites, about the size of a pea, and put them into thier mouthes when they open them. They will cry to be fed. And should respond very willing to eat. NEVER GIVE THEM WATER!! Giving them water will kill them. They are getting all of their water in with their food. Make sure that their home is kept very clean. Bacteria in their feces will make them sick, and it stinks too. When your birds are covered in feathers and their eyes are opened start taking them outside, and try to get them to fly. You will have to work with them, but it will all be rewarding to see them fly away, knowing that you saved their lives! I hope this helps someone! I am currently raising three chimney swifts, I got them out of my fireplace after their nest fell through the chimney. The were completely bald with their eyes closed, and I have now raised them for three weeks and they are all diong well. We go outside for a little while each day where they try to fly (but dont get too far yet) and play in the grass. They are fun, but it SO MUCH WORK!!! I will miss them, but will be glad when they return to the woods!

I had a tiny toy Poodle for 18 years. Easter weekend he got sick & couldn't get to the Vet til Monday. He was having kidney failure & the Vet wanted to put him to sleep. I took him home & put him on Noni juice, for over all health, aloe vera, for his stomach & mouth, & parsley water to keep his kidney's open, mixed in his food. He perked up & stayed healthy until his time came in Dec 5th the same year. I was able to hold him, rock him in the rocker, & sing to him as he passed of old age across the rainbow bridge...
There is always an alternative available for all of us. I don't want to suffer even though death is waiting for all of us. We don't have to suffer to get out of here.
Pau D'Arco combined with yerba matte herb will get rid of pain & the disease of cancer, which I can attest to.
Another good web site is www.earthclinic.com Lots of good info on apple cider vinegar, peroxide, baking soda, & more....another is www.curezone.com

Good luck to all, & don't allow the evil death of disease rot away any life form... Make it an ease/easy out...
Many Blessing of good health to all!

Is your dog not able to go to the bathroom because he ate something or is stoped up? Give the dog a half can of pumpkin. Keep giving to him until able to use the bathroom.

Cats in the house? And refuse to use a litter box? But like the carpet better? Here is a trick I learned and it works. Keeps Kitty from using the carpet as a litter box.
Place long stips of heavy duty aluminum foil on areas cleaned throughly where kitty has marked it's spot.
The noise of the foil turns kitty away.

FLEAS: I have had a terrible time getting rid of fleas till now. Borax laundry soap. Vacuum your carpet really good. Then sprinkle the Borax over your carpet. Use a broom and work it down into the fibers of your carpet really good. Don't vacuum for a week unless you have to. The fleas will eat the Borax. It will cause them to dehydrate and die. Repeat the process every week or so for a month. It really works, it's cheap and it is safe to use if you have small children.

A few years ago, the area below my rabbit's eyes was infected due to scratching himself with his dirty nails. The hair in that area was crusty, and fell off. Underneath his skin was raw. He had puss, some bleeding, and swelling. I managed to fix him up myself. I cleaned the infected areas thouroughly with warm water. Then I placed a couple of drops of betadine on some cortizone 10 (about a half inch squeeze, and mixed it up. After cleaning his skin, I rubbed some fresh aloe vera gel on the infected areas, and allowed it to dry a bit. Then I rubbed on the cortizone & betadine mixture. I did this for a couple of days and low and behold, it worked! And his hair grew back.

Bag Balm is great for 'clipper burn' after dog grooming.

Avoid clipper burn by clipping the sensitive areas first while the clipper is still cool. Use 'Kool Lube' spray also to cool clippers.

Cut in the same direction as the growth of the hair, not against.

Cover area (usually rear end) with old pair of men's briefs or small pajamas cut down. Tighten to fit with a SAFETY diaper pin. This will save getting greasy stains on carpeting, etc. and also keep the dog from irritating the burn so it can heal.

I came across an herbalist who said adding garlic powder to wet cat food will get rid of tape worms.
I did a particularly heavy dose on my two cats and sure enough it worked!
No more worms and for under $1
I'm sure if you added a smaller amount a few times it would also work.

To get fleas off your pet, try bathing them in Dawn dish washing liquid. It kills the fleas it comes in contact with. Borax worked for the carpet better than salt for me. We used it for roaches, too before we moved into our house. Advantage works to help keep the fleas off, but Dawn will kill most, if not all, fleas.

For fleas in your carpet: Sprinkle table salt on the carpet and leave a few days. Vacuum up. This will kill the fleas in the carpet and will thus lead to flea-free pets.

Some over the counter meds that dogs can take:
Benedryl for itching or allergies.
Chewable Pepto for vomiting or diarrhea.
Baby asprin is a great wormer and also for pain. (must be asprin, not tylenol or advil)
Plain yogurt is good for vomiting and diarrhea as it turns the 'bad' bacteria to 'good'

2 parts tea tree oil and 1 part water mixed in a bowl and sponged all over your pet is supposed to kill fleas. Don't try to drip it all over them, just sponge it on...too much might hurt the animal. I suppose it can't help if the fleas are all in the house unless you get rid of them in the house also, so you should probably try other remedies like Borax laundry detergent. Good luck and God bless!

To help with fleas on your dogs: take a new spray bottle and fill half of it with apple cider vineger and half with warm tap water. Shake well and spray on the dog's coat. Rub it in good. No need to rinse, just let it dry, and use it daily or as needed. My friend uses it for her dog, and it works well and saves money.

Dog Mange: 1% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide. You get this with a 3% Solution bottle from Wal-Mart poured into a container then fill the bottle with water twice and add to the same bucket. One part 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and 2 parts water equal a 1% solution. The water dilutes the 3% solution to 1% solution. Now put in borax until it won't dissolve any more and you're done. Borax is not a laundry soap it is a chemical (boric acid mostly) and is used as a laundry booster. Its cheap and available at Wal-mart as well. It won't hurt the dog...at all. There are some kennels that suggest a dose in the food (I think this is unwise) but the borax bath is harmless....it kills the fleas as well. Hope this helps as the previously left instructions are a bit convuluted....CHEERS!

THE ONLY THING FOR FLEAS!!!! My grandma was a crazy cat lady. She had over a dozen cats and 3 dogs. She tried everything to get rid of fleas. The one thing that worked was Advantage. Go to your vet (don't bother with an appt. some vets will want you to have an appt. so just call around) and each packet will cost you around $10s a months supply. Or even petco sells it but its usually like $50 for a box. Put it on your pet and have them walk around the house anywhere there is fleas. If your vet does not carry Advantage try Frontline it works very well but Advantage still has my vote. ALSO Do Not bother with drops by any other brand besides Advantage or Frontine! I promise you its a waste of money.

For dogs breeds that commonly get hotspots (oozy sores that appear overnight, get rapidly larger, and cause hair to fall out--all for no apparent reason and more common in hot, humid summers), such as labs, bird dogs, and pugs, you can visit the vet, buy the tube of ointment and treat it for two weeks or more before it slowly disappears or you can try this remedy: Take sulfur powder (also called flour of sulfur and available at the pharmacy) and mix it with enough rubbing alcohol to form a thick paste. Cake it onto the affected area of your dog and leave it there until it dries and falls off on its own. Do this for two days. It will sting the dog when it is first applied, but it goes away. The sore will dry up, heal, and hair will regrow. The cost is very cheap--less than 10 cents per treatment.

The Bach Flower remedies work wonders for horses. I have my 33-year-old gelding, my 18-year-old stallion, and my three 4-year old fillies on Walnut remedy, Honeysuckle remedy and Agrimony remedy - they work to correct various habits and moodiness as well as depression. Also, none of my horses have had any health issues since I started using alternative remedies to replace conventional medicine where I could.

ANIMAL NUT HEATHER

SAFE PEST CONTROL - Do you have trouble with ants but your afraid to use poison because of your pets. THEN DONT! Try putting out some cornmeal instead. They will take it to their nest to eat. Little do they know they can't digest it and will kill out their whole colony. Leaving your pet safe and your home chemical free.

How to keep your cats from using your inside floor plants as a litter box.

I had a problem with my cat using my inside plants as a litter box. Didn't matter that the litter box was clean, the cat just wanted to go in my plants, getting dirt all over the floor and making a huge mess. Not to mention that my plants suffered from it.

Put tin foil on top of the dirt around the plant/tree. make sure you cover all of the dirt that you can see or get to. Leave just enough room so you can still water the plant. This worked 100% for me. My cat stopped using my plants as a litter box and finally my inside banana trees started growing.

If you have a dog that won't quit barking, jumping, tearing things, jumping the fence, etc. (hyper), I have been given mine 1 Benedryl (or equivalent generic/store brand) capsule, and after 20 minutes, if that doesn't work another one. Can hide it in a piece of bread or cheese. This calms them down. Of course, the ideal solution is to walk or exercise them to get them tired, but that's not always possible.

To remove fleas from any animal, carpet, or whatever:

Pure white vinegar. Buy in the gallon containers and don't be stingy with it. Discount grocery stores sell it cheap, so use as much as you need.

The vinegar remnves smells, fleas, and kills other parasites on your dog or cat all while leaving them with a very healthy coat.

Did your dog or cat eat something bad? Hydrogen peroxide induces vomiting! Just use a syringe to force peroxide into their mouths/throats. Within a few minutes they will vomit!
