for mosquito bites: hot water - as hot as you can take it, for as long as you can stand it, and as soon after the bite as possible. if you scratch it first though all bets are off. ive lived in florida for 29 long summers and when my friend told me about this he literally changed my life.

The best remedy is Avon Skin So Soft spray bath oil. Spray the exposed skin areas. You may be oily but mosquitos will not land on you. Don't forget to spray your arm pits if your wearing a tank top. They will land were you don't spray.

I am allergic to mosquito bites and when ever I get one they swell up like a marble and are itchy and painful. I have found if you take a really hot shower, and let the water hit the bites it can subdue the itching. Yes, its going to be agony while its being hit with the water. After the shower they should stop itching for the most part. Also, if they are just comming up I take a cut onion and rub the juices onto the bite. This also helps with the itching/hurting. =)

I've just been reading the 'mosquito' remedies and I can honestly say, the only remedy to 'not being bitten by a mozzie' is DON'T kill it... The blood you attract from it, attacts more.
I have grown up in a 'mozzie' infested town and have tried everything possible. The old 'slap' on the arm isn't the way to go...

I won't use toxic chemicals on my body to repel insects. I've heard that if you Eat Garlic, or rub vinegar on mosquitoes won’t want to bite or sting you.
But it you have already been bitten/stung I found this home remedy to be really helpful:
For itchy bites, first I applied rubbing alcohol, then applied a poltice of baking soda, vinegar, toothpaste and salt, cornstarch and dabbed it on each bite. (If you don't have cornstarch that ok) This homemade poltice relieved the itching and reduced the inflamation and swelling. I Leave the poltice on for a few hours or overnight until things feel better then wash off with an non-fragrance organic soap. Hope this helps.

I have 10 dryer sheets spread up and down and all around my 8x8' deck. It has kept away several kinds of bugs, especially spiders, but has been completely ineffective against mosquitoes. I am going to try the mouthwash next. Will let you all know the outcome!!!

Castor Bean Plants repel the mosquito. They can be planted from a seed, grow very large in 6 weeks, very tropical. The entire plant is very poisonous though. Remove the flowers before they go to seed.

You won't believe this! Take a dryer sheet(New) and rub on your body. Mosquitoes won't even come near you. You can also take the dryer sheet and tuck in your belt or tie it on your wrist and you'll have the same effect. I tried this in hopes that it would also prevent chigger bites. For the most part, it worked. I did get a few bites but it may have been where I missed a spot.
