Well I hope this will help, as it works for me. I had a bad headache not long ago…. I had nothing in the house and called a friend who told me to try this: Take 2 cap fulls of Apple Cider Vinegar and add it to a cool 8oz glass of water. Add raw honey to taste and sip it slowly. It works for headaches, and other aches.

Drink water. When you're dehydrated your blood thickens and this creates pressure, especially around the forehead, where alot of small blood vessels are concentrated.

When you get a headache, apply pressure to the pressure point where the bones of your thumb and index finger connect. Its easy to find.. Press hard for as along as you can, and as you do, you will notice the headache fade away.. This almost always works for me and whoever else i tell. I actually read this in a magazine for campers, cause when your camping, you dont always have pain releving drugs.

I get severe migraines & I was told to try peppermint oil. You can find it at some special foods stores, I had mine special ordered at a pharmacy. It was around $10 for a small bottle, but you only use a few drops so it will last a long time. Dip a Q-tip into the peppermint oil and apply it where it hurts - forehead, temples, neck - careful not to get close to your eyes. Start with a tiny bit to be sure you're not sensitive and the vapors don't bother your eyes.. you might not feel the effect for a few minutes, so don't over apply it. This seems to last for a long time and produces a very nice cooling effect, also, the peppermint scent is said to relieve upset stomach which can sometimes come with a headache. You can add more if needed. If you lie down in a dark room with a ceiling fan lightly blowing this will make it more 'cool'.. also, if you use cloth ice packs, such a cloth bag filled with ice that has been kept in the freezer, you can apply 2 drops of the oil onto the pack - just don't place it directly onto your eyes. Hope this helps someone out there!

Way back then, my grandmother always did this for me and my brother when we had headaches. We loved it, and i use it with my kids today, they love it too! Boil some hot water and add some ground cinnamon and sugar and mix. Pour in a cup and sniff the steam. That is what you do if it is a sinus headache. If it is a tension headache, pour some of this sugar cinnamon water into a tightly closed ziploc bag and press to the area where your head hurts. This is great for the kids!

Headaches are a nuicance, but can be taken care of with some simple remedies:

Avoid:
Avoid bright lights, and loud noises or music.

Remedies:
Closing your eyes while slowly breathing in and out, while pinching the skin between your thumb and index (pointer) finger with your other thumb and index finger. Remember, if you dont feel a slight pain or pinch when you do it, it's not doing anything.

Another is to just simply sleep :) It usually relieves itself after a good night's sleep (or nap) unless it's really bad.

Hydrating yourself always helps.

Rub the affected area with slight pressure, constantly, for a few minutes.

Cold showers or hot baths :P

Just relax! Relax and think positive thoughts!

Massage your feet with pressure

Eat an apple. The natural sugars in it help your headache go away. This reigns true for all fruits, so you're not just limited to apples.

Tug on your earlobes. This doesn't usually help me, and leaves me with itchy earlobes afterward but with some other people it works. Maybe it'll work for you. It's worth a shot!

One of my personal favorites is making hot peppermint tea and putting some honey in it. While you're drinking, inhale the minty scent! :)

A moist hot towl around the neck, forehead or back of the head.

Gently pulling your hair at the affected area.

Items that help get rid of headaches:
Peppermint (Oil or otherwise)
Water (cold or hot)
Ice (or anything cold. Chewing ice helps or you can put something cold against the affected area)
Spices
Herbal Teas
Coffee, Soda (If you look at any meds they will most likely contain a high amount of caffiene which is something that helps headaches)
Dark Chocolate

And if all that doesn't work, you can takes some pills or go see a chiropractor, a masseuse, or a doctor! Wishing you the best of luck!

Go to your local Herbal and/or GNC store to purchase a small bottle of pure peppermint oil, and then dab a little on your fingertip and/or cotton swab and smear across the top of your lip and directly underneath your nose, and in minutes your headache will disapate. *note** the site where the oil is placed will tingle, and feel funny, but will not harm you in any way, or cause alarm, with, the reason for the strong tingling feeling is due to the purity of the peppermint oil itself) Trust me, it is used each and every time I have a headache. It works!!!!!!

I have been getting migraines for 10 years, although mine aren't as severe as those of many migraine sufferers. Tylenol and Ibuprofen don't touch my headaches, but over the years I've tried various remedies that sometimes work, sometimes don't. I've never found one that consistently works, every time. Here are some that work sometimes:

1) Take extra-strength Excedrin at the first sign of a headache. (I can only do this if the headache comes on in the morning or afternoon, because the caffeine in Excedrin keeps me up at night).

2) Take a decongestant. This works whether or not your headache is caused by your sinuses, because decongestants help constrict your blood vessels.

3) Drink 64 ounces of water over the space of about two hours. Then drink a strong cup of coffee, followed by another 8 oz glass of water. If your headache has anything to do with dehydration, this does wonders.

4) Apply Vicks to your temples, if that is where the headache is located. You can also use peppermint oil (even better) or eucalyptus oil (I've heard that lavender oil helps too, though I've never tried it).

5) At night, sleep with something soft yet firm pressed against your temple, or wherever the pain is. I just use a rolled up sock or something similar. The pressure on your temple will help ease the pain during the night and in many cases the headache will be gone in the morning.

Sometimes there is nothing I can do to get rid of a headache, but this seems to often help, especially if it is a tension headache: try rubbing IcyHot all over your shoulders and neck. Then lightly put peppermint oil (stay away from your eyes!) on your temples and along your forehead. Take some Excedrin Migraine, and try to rest for at least an hour. The topical cream and oil have a cooling effect which allows you to relax enough to get some rest while the meds start working!

If you have a headache that is terribly painful, try pinching the top of your nose, I was sitting at my computer, I had a very painful headache and for some reason I pinched the top of my nose and it was gone in about 5 minutes, I literally just sat there with my fingers on the top of my nose! This remedy will work on some headaches, but if it doesn't, then it will certainly relieve a lot of tension.

Try drinking lavender tea, hot/warm. Lavender will relax the muscles. Mostly headaches are caused by mussel tension, do drinking lavender will relax you. Also, don't use ice, it will cause stabbing cramps and may make the pain worse. You can use a hot pack or use a warm damp towel and put that over your face/temples. This will relax your face. happy healing!

Have someone pull your hair by starting slowly at the back of the neck and grabbing as much hair in two fistfuls close to the scalp.

Pull for 3 seconds and release, slowly working your way up to the forehead, releasing and grabbing the next batch of hair with both hands and so on.

Then work backwords along the sides of the head to the rear.

This will alleviate pain for about 10 minutes.

In headache medicine you'll notice that caffeine content is high in each of them. If you have a headache, drink coffee or other caffeinated products. Especially if you drink coffee on a regular basis your body will fiend for the caffeine and the headache will fade away. Also lots of water helps! You could be dehydrated and you need the water to dilute any pills you take. Good luck!

I found this remedy on my own when my head lots of pain and i was tired so here is what you do. Take a small amount of water that you can gulp down easily. You might want to sit down because you need to close your eyes.Take a sip of water ,gulp down the water and right when the water has passed down your throat open your eyes real quick you might feel strange after it because the pain may instantly leave.

And if the pain still lingers try ice wrapped in a cloth or something where you have the pain do the same thing with the water this time right after u gulp the water when You open your eyes remove the ice at the same time. hope it helps it works for me tell your friends if it worked that way you don't poison your body with pills and it is way faster. :]

headache
sinus or 'eyeball' kind. reach around the back of your neck (affected side) with 2 fingers, index and middle. Touch the bottom of your scull, by your spine, with index and the middle finger will be touching c3 or c4. Press on the side of that bone.. pain? press and rub here until you're sinus drains or less pain. You can use a bag of rice heated in the micro for a few minutes and put in a sock as a heat pack or for cold, use a bag of frozen vegies!
other pressure points are on your cheek, by your nose, press and rub. On the top of your eye socket, center, press and rub.
I am a licensed massage therapist and the neck thing really works! I use it all the time.
best of luck!

I have suffered horrible tension headaches for the last 5 years. Although I have not found any cure to a tension headache, I do have some tips that might help. I have found relaxing with a cup of chamomile tea helps. It's not an instaneous relief, but it helps you to sit down and relax. Also I have tried drinking a bottle of gatorade and surprisingly it really does help. When I have a really bad headache, I go to bed early, put on a sleeping mask, and put ice on my neck and forehead. (If you know you are definitely having a tension headache then put ice on your neck! It relieves the stress in your whole head) If you don't have a sleeping mask, get one!! It helps me tremendously. I also go to a chiropractor regulary to get adjustments and massages. This helps a lot!
Try to eliminate stress (who am I kidding you can't eliminate it, but try to find some time for yourself)
From one headache sufferer to another, I wish you all the best in trying to get rid of it. Best of luck :)

Wearing nothing on your foot, pull your big toe backward and run your finger along the arch of your foot. You should feel a tendon there that is pulled tight (because your big toe is flexed backward). If you have a headache, massage up and down the length of that tendon (with the big toe flexed backward) and you should get some relief from the headache, or it may take it away completely. This doesn't always take my headaches away, but it does always give me at least a little relief. Using peppermint oil on your fingertips when doing this massage will help, also.

Also, this may seem a little weird, but, if you have a headache where it hurts the most in a particular spot (migraine), after you steep the peppermint tea, save the tea bag and hold it against that area for a few minutes. The peppermint has a cooling, almost numbing effect.

The aroma of peppermint tea helps as well.

If you drink two cups of Gatorade it will relieve a headache almost immediately without the unpleasant sideffects of most traditional pain relievers.

An effective headache treatment is ice applied to the forehead and the temples--we have used bags of frozen peas and frozen gummy bears, but any frozen object will do as long as it is not unbearably cold to hold against your head.

Drink a cup of coffee or Mt. Dew. The caffeine in the drink will open up the blood vessels and relieve the pain. IF you look at any 'headache medicine' (not naming names here) but you will see that caffeine is a main ingredient.

Whenever I get a headache I always drink water first. If that does not work then I try placing an ice back on the back of my neck. This does the trick for me.

Heat a cloth, such as a handkerchief, in the microwave for about 1 minute. Tie it around your head and lie down. Make sure the knot is at the spot where the pain is worst.

Take a deep breath in while you place your index finger and middle finger against your temples pressing very hard. Do this for about 30 seconds. Slowly release the pressure from your fingers to your temples while exhaling at the same time. Continue to do this until you feel your headache fade away.

Headaches - I found out accidentally. Use this if you feel o.k. Place your hands including your wrists under cold running water for five minutes, this cools the blood, you should begin to feel better, my pain is usually gone. I use this especially in the Summer months, when the body is extra hot.

the very best cure for headaches that i have found is actually in henbane leaves. many people are afraid of this plant because it is highly poisonus, however they ussually never do any reaserch on it's many many uses. this plant is harmless and extremly benificial when used externally. as far as headaches simply take a leaf and place it on your head, whare it hurts the most, and put a warm wet wrag on top. your headache should be gone in about 5-10 min. if not simply add another leaf.

Drink some dill pickle juice. Most headaches are caused by dehydration and loss of sodium in the body. Make sure the pickles aren't sodium free. Best choice is Bicks Dill Pickles with garlic. The garlic probably helps too being a natural antibiotic.

I tend to wake up with bad headaches and one morning looked up some natural ways to get rid of them rather than just popping pills all the time. I kept reading about peppermint, peppermint oil and soothing, cooling things to apply to the source of the headache. I had some pepperminty shampoo and conditioner so I hopped in the shower, made it nice and hot and steamy and shampooed and conditioned my hair. I lathered it in and let it sit on my scalp for about 5-7 minutes (each) and I started to feel some relief from the headache. After I got out I had breakfast and downed a couple glasses of water and within about a half hour of my shower, my headache was nearly completely gone!

2 Ibuprofin 200mg with room temp water, turn off all lights and tvs, turn off all phones, close the blinds, and lay out some light bed clothes. Take a room temperature shower, don't rush but don't hang out in there, get ready for bed take 1 more Ibuprofin 200mg only drinking room temp water.
Then slowly crawl into bed and just think positive for a while, tell yourself headaches come and go.

This works for me very well as long there are no interruptions.
Best of luck to all of you.

If you drink hot tea then this is good for you. Make a cup or two of hot tea and use it as a type of heating pad for your forehead; I myself like to rest it on my temple. this doesn't work well if your tea isn't worm enough or it's burning you. Also drinking it is very good for you. Any would suffice, I like Portsmouth tea company tea in NH if I can ever get my hands on it. keeping yourself hydrated is very important also.

My remedy is the local Urgent Care where I get a shot of phengran and Toradol. Most of the time it works. I hve tried a number of medications and rarely does anything else work if my migraine is really bad. I have always had migraines but they seemd to get much worse after a tubal ligation I had at age 43. My husband tooke me to the ER at least once a month until I completed menopause. Once completed they lessened to about one every 3 months. I honestly believe the tubal was the cause due to an imbalance in my hormones after it.
