I found out I had gh about 3 years ago. I just had my first real ob this year. Before then I was sure that the doctor made a mistake. It wasn't bad as I expected however it was just a reminder of this 'thing' that I will have for life. I was depressed and sad for a minute until I realized that I'm still here and have my health. I would like for everyone living with gh not to be discourage, it could be a lot worse. Life is not over. I feel that eating healthy and drinking plenty of water will reduce my ob. I also take vitamins daily.

I got herpes about a yr and a half ago. My first ob wasn't bad at all. I thought I had cut myself shaving. If it weren't for the fact that I had to go in for a pap smear, I would have never known. Anyways, I didn't really have many obs until about 8 months ago. My bf and I decieded to get married. All the stress of wedding planning combined with a 4 yr, plus work plus full time school, I was having obs every freaking month! Normally I just take the meds (acyclovir), but it just recently started to not work as well. I had read a bunch of stuff on the internet about tea tree oil. I thought most of it was crap, but I thought, what the heck? I bought some at Walmart yesterday. (For $8) I was at thw tail end of an outbreak, I had about 4 more days before the sores would be gone. I put that stuff on last night and woke up this morning with the sores pretty much gone. I put more on this morning and they are gone completly! When you put the oil on it gets really warm down there (kinda like warming lube) but its not uncomfortable. I'm going to use it next time I feel like another ob is going to happen instead of spending more $$ on drugs.

I've had this for maybe 5 years now and I've tried just about everything. The only thing that I found to quiken healing and soothe at the same time is taking a warm bath with epsom salt, a little vinegar (about 2 table spoons), and after soaking for about 20 minutes, take a clove of garlic (peeled) and insert into the vagina as if you were inserting a tampon; if you want you can tie a string around it so you can easily pull it out afterwards. Leave in in for about 6 hours (best to do it while sleeping, with no panties), and the garlic will cleanse your body of the bad bacteria causing the outbreak. You will taste garlic through out the whole time so don't be alarmed, this means its in your blood stream. After that you will feel so much better. Just remember to keep area clean and dry at all times! Wear only 100% cotton panites or if you want to go without underwear for a couple of days then do so. I hope this helps, if not please see your doctor because it may lead to something more serious.

I was diagnosed with Herpes Simplex 1 on my vagina in October. It was extremely difficult because my partner at the time was Herpes free and I had no idea where I'd contracted the virus. Per my Gyno, I would've contracted the disease via oral sex from an infected person without an active outbreak - which is still contagious.

Since being diagnosed in October I have had constant outbreaks that were PAINFUL to the MAX!!! I cried, prayed, and searched for advice online from others like myself. I first tried a warm water ($0) and tea tree oil ($8) douche, which worked well for pain relief, but lasted only overnight at the most.

I found this website and was extremely excited to head to Walmart where I purchased the Walmart brand Tylenol-PM ($4), MERCUROCLEAR ($3), Vagisal Satin Cream ($8), and Abreva ($21). I smashed the pills mixed in all the fixin's, applied to my swollen and inflamed 'Princess' and immediately felt better. I used for several days and the itching, buring, open sores, everything cleared up.

I no longer wash with 'normal' soap as it is too 'strong' for that area. I use the Family Dollar brand Feminine Wash daily. I also take the generic Valtrex pills during an outbreak in addition to the little mixture above to spead up my headling process.

I've also cut back on the dark soda, eat more seafood, and green veggies. I also eat more fruit. I take 4000mg of L-Lysine daily, 2000mg of Garlic every other day, and a 1000mg Vitamen C daily.

I've since had no more outbreaks, I feel comfy around my partner who of course has since contracted the disease. It makes it easier dealing with a person who has Herpes, but we share a common interest in not getting anymore outbreaks :)

I can walk, cross my legs, and have sex whenever without the painful sores. Thanks to all the post before mine because you really helped me feel comfortable with the disease and control it as opposed to it controlling my life.

God Bless and I hope I've helped someone too :)

I was diagnosed with GH a little over a yr now, Sept 2010. My boyfriend of 5 yrs was unfaithful and unfortunately I fell victim. I stayed with him a whole yr afterward in fear that I would never find someone to look pass the disease and see my heart. For being with someone who treats u unfair is a far better option then no love at all... Right?? Wrong! I recently got the nerve to leave him and start over. It's been tough for I've struggled with my own demons of asking why me, and my thoughts of a lack of self worth. My outbreaks haven't been too bad but frequent. Every other month at times, only one spot most of the times. I practice healthy eating and lifestyle. Most of the time I don't even take the acyclovir, to prevent dependency. I've found the remedies on this website helpful. However, I just wanted to say life isn't over! It sucks at times, I still cry when I share my story but I'm making it with God, much prayer, and support. I'm happy to report that I now have a new man GH free and he's ok with me having it. I've been completely honest with him. I've shared the risks, the boundaries, and educated him on the disease. I'm living proof that there is life with GH. Be blessed, and keep ur head up. WHAT u have doesn't determine WHO u are.

Hello everyone! I got diagnosed with herpes in February 2010. I had constant outbreaks, I was put on once a day valtrex which did work, but as soon as I would miss one pill I would break out and it would be worse then all the rest of my previous outbreaks. I decided I didn't want to take a pill everyday for the rest of my life so I began looking at natural remedies and through a lot of trial and error and some very painful outbreaks I have found out what works for me. I hope that this will work for you too :-)
-I only wear underwear when absolutely needed, when at home I wear baggy pants that allow for a lot of air flow
-I clean the area where I get outbreaks religiously everyday and dry it out completely with a small fan everyday, I really think that this part is key.
-I take a multivitamin everyday to help my immune system.
-whenever I would get an outbreak before I monitored what food I was eating and was looking for a correlation between my outbreaks, I found that rice and I do not get along and that whenever I would eat it I would shortly have an outbreak.
-I have completely cut out alcohol.

I have been outbreak free for a month now, and for someone that would get them back to back nonstop that is a long time.
watch what you eat, write it down and see if there is a correlation between a certain food and your outbreaks. I know that everyone is different but I really hope that you can find what works for you. I know that it is hard to live with herpes, but you are not alone. I wish you all the best :-) love and hugs.

I was raped when i was 15 by a stranger who didnt think that rapeing me was bad enough but to also not even bother with protection. Ive had a very difficult childhood that most people wouldnt even bother getting out of bed if they had to deal with half of the stuff that i do on a daily basis. I had my first outbreak when i was 17. Before that time i didnt know anything was wrong. I got the diagnostics after i didnt sleep for three days due to the pain. It was a weekend so i just had to deal till i was able to see a doctor. Scared to death to tell anyone anything was wrong. The doctor gave me the results and asked if i had any questions i just asked if i could still have children. He replyed that i could then i remained silent. I then proceeded to make a list of all the partners i had and notified each of them of what i had just found out. I was safe with everyone else so i was just taking precaustions. One of the hardest things to do is tell someone that i care about what had happened to me. A painful memory to have to tell someone else. Then comes the time to see if they are going to run (like some do) but cant say i blame them. Or if they are going to deal with it with me. I have to tell my own family everytime i have a sore on my mouth so they wont drink/eat after me for fear that they would get it. (still hurts my feelings but i understand i wouldnt want it either). I hope that this story help people who are struggling with feeling alone or that their situation is the worst it can be. Trust me :) Its hard but there are people who will work with u...if not they dont deserve you or everything else you bring to the table.

I said that I would let everyone know I'f this zinc gluconate powder works. And you wouldn't believe it but it works better than Tylenol pm. I'f u have an extra 25 bucks it worth your money. When I posted about a week ago I had one spot. And yesterday I noticed another one in the same spot and then another one. So I just used the lid put idk a palm full and added some water, put it on. I dry it with a book for whatever I can find just so it will dry faster. (did this during the day) and I soaked in Epsom salt with peppermint before I put on some more . So llast night I went ahead and mixed a half of tylenol pm together with.( I used tylenol because it seemed to help it stick to me better) My bumps where red yesterday. And this morning they are my skin color. Their still their but never had. anything take down the size and color that fast!! hope this helps everyone!

I was reading through a lot of these posts last night and felt compelled to share my story with you. I was diagnosed with Genital Herpes 13 years ago when I was 18 years old. I, much like a lot of you, felt like a tainted, dirty person who no one would ever want, nor understand. I am here to tell you today that over the last 13 years, I can count on one hand how many outbreaks I have had. The first one was a painful nightmare, but the few that followed were just a small sore or two that subsided after a few days. I do not take Valtrex on a daily basis for suppression, but keep it on hand for when I do have one of those few breakouts. I attribute the minimal outbreaks to the fact that I try and eat healthy, exercise daily and try and keep the stress to a minimum when possible.

On to telling those who you are involved with…I have dated and had sex with about 30-35 people since I knowingly carried the virus and not a single one of them have contracted it. I know it may not be easy to tell someone you care about because you fear rejection and shame. Not one person that I shared my condition with ever left me or judged me. I did find a few ways to “ease” into the conversation that may not be the most ethical, but I found it easier. When I start dating someone, I will mention casually that it is that time for me to go in for my yearly well woman exam and joke about how I hate propping my legs up in those stirrups and getting poked and prodded. Then I will say that I am going to go ahead and get the full gamete of STD testing since it has been a while. I suggest that he should go do the same if he hasn’t recently. Three days later, I tell them that I need to talk to them and start crying as I tell them that I have herpes. I say that I didn’t even know how long I have been carrying it, as the doctor said that 1 in 4 people have the disease and are unaware. Another route I have used is to go in for a Brazilian wax and say that I got a bad rash a few days after. I then tell the guy that I am seeing that I am going in to see my gyno just to make sure everything is okay, where then I “find out that I have herpes”. There are actually several lawsuits that have been filed from women contracting herpes from salons that “double dip” their wands. Again, I know that lying is not best policy, but I feel that sometimes it can be easier to have a catalyst to start the conversation than just come right out and say it.

Again, I would like to reiterate that you life is NOT over once you have contracted this disease. So many people, like myself, have it and live a wonderful life and have found love with someone who understands. I try to always be positive and think that it can always be worse. You could have HIV or cancer and be doomed for death. These little flare ups that we have may not be ideal, but we can make it through it and live a wonderful life!

If you are on the Depo shot to prevent pregnacy, and you develope genital herpes, stop taking the shots. I had it so bad they were about to do laser surgery, but I stopped the depo and they all dissappeared within a few weeks.

After 20 + years of GH this what I've learned: (hope it helps you)

1. Avoid heartburn an acidic system-> The surest way to get an outbreak is bad heartburn. I always carry a roll of tums with me. If you've ever noticed after a bad case of heartburn, within a day or you get a canker sore-(HSV1), same thing applies to GH-(HSV2). An alkaline diet is best. (veggies)

2. Avoid Physical Or Mental Stress-> Avoid strenuous physical activity. Avoid letting your self get stressed out with your own mind babble, and avoid letting other people put you in that state. I'm not saying don't work out or stay healthy, I'm saying every time you put your body into a state like you see when people are falling down at the end of a marathon you'll get a outbreak for sure. Same thing applies to your mental state.

3. If you smoke, it will take 3 to 8 days longer for your out break to go away and heal.

4. Expensive medications that give you headaches and constipation don't necessarily work. In fact you want to keep those pipes/bowels clean. Eating right and being regular is more important than antivirals.

5. Covering the infection-> I use a product called 'New Skin'. It's a paint on bandage that you can apply and dry with a hair dryer (careful not to burn yourself). It lasts for 3 to 4 days before you need to remove it carefully/tweezers without touching the infected bandage. This idea of the blisters needing air is Bull, that's how it spreads.

6. Heating affected areas-> (if you can) with a blow dryer kills surface virus and kills the the itch for 1-3 hours. (to be done in moderation)

7. Wash your hands/keep your hands clean-> Obviously washing your hands will keep you from spreading the virus and not getting sick as well. But this especially needs to be done when you have an outbreak. GH spreads like wild fire, the minute you let your guard down you'll have spread it to another place on your body and it's there forever. Keep from touching your eyes, especially when you have an outbreak. Herpes can blind you.

What you need to know about herpes:

1. It is easily killed by temperature (hot or cold) and cannot live without a host for very long outside a host. It can live in a moist, warm environment like a bath towel for much longer.

2. Herpes can live in all mammals, some plants and even some fungi can be a host.

3. Your NOT ALONE. When I first got it about 1 in 12 people in the U.S. had it. Now that number is more than double. In 20 years we'll all have it. LOL...

GOD BLESS

I have a remedy that has really worked for me. I have been outbreak free for about 4 years now. When I got my first outbreak I was deathly ill. Just thougth I had the flu till I got the tell tell sign and saw my doc. I started researching differant remedeis and so called cures. One popped out and made sense. I found a website on Hidrogine peroxide treatments. I use a3-5% solution from the drug store and use it as a douche when I feel an outbreak coming on, or when I feel the tingling. I have been doing this for 4 years now and no outbreak. Last possible outbreak/tingling was almost 1 1/2 years ago. The peroxide will kill any harmfull bacteria or virus present. It will not harm any of the helpful bacteria that is needed in the vagina. Works great for me.

At the first sign of an outbreak, take L-Lysine and increase your intake of Vitamin C. Dab the area with tea tree oil, lavender oil or a combo of both for instant relief.

I am 22 year old Asia male.and I live in maimi now. At age 22 brithday, about 4 months ago I lost my virginity to a girl who is now a friend. The incident didn't last long, I believe a total of 7 minutes but not continually, as her parents were about to come home. I also didn't reach climax. The incident was unprotected which I know always poses some risk. Also she said she was on her period, but I saw absolutely no blood. I've asked her repeatedly if she had been tested. Her response was that she had a test after her last boyfriend and I believed he didn¡¯t have herpes . She also said she has no diseases. She isn't a herpes person either, although she has done drugs. I am a college graduate and she is a white female college student. She has had experience however, having told me she has had 9 partners but only two or three committed boyfriends whom she slept with unprotected. This is the only sexual exposure I've had although i've done other virtually non risk things with other girls. I know it was dumb and I am now somewhat scared to get tested although I know that if I have it, testing won't change anything besides the knowledge of my status. I just wish I could force her to get tested in front of me because if I know her test results for sure there is really no reason I have to get tested. I have had no symptoms, although I did have a fever for two days about 7 months after wards. She has also never traveled outside the country, if that matters in terms of demographic risk. now , we all have herpes, and i dont how to do with it.she felt very sorry and sad. i told my mother, and she felt sorry for me. i have passed a dark time. after i was told a nice site for herpes dating and supporting.it¡¯ 'sdloving,c0m'. i join, its very nice and fun , and i have found my new GF with herpes. we love each other very much. and now i can do myself again. so i want to share this with more herpes friends.now we have a nice holidays in China.she is very cute, and I can find myself when I stay with her.after our holiday we will come back to maimi and find a job. We want to get marry 2 years later..but herpes always make us feel uncomfortable. So I come to this forum to find some friends to share ur experience.i hope u guys can help me and my GF.thanks, hope all herpes people have a beautiful life in the future.

Thank you to everyone on this site! My biggest trigger is stress and I have been under a ton of it lately. So of course I have my first outbreak in over 10 years. It came on very fast so I couldn't do anything to prevent it. Twice a day I have been doing the epsom salts & apple cider vinegar baths followed by mercuroclear and then a blend of Abreva and Monistat cream. I use a hair dryer to dry the area in between - another great tip from this site. That has stopped the outbreak in its tracks! No itching, no burning, no new blisters, no open blisters. I wanted to try Tylenol PM in the cream mixture, but the types of pills around here are impossible to crush and have coatings on them.

I was diagnosed with GH on Feb 2011. It was the most painful experience of my life, I thought my life was over. I refused to believe what it was although I had all the symptoms until I tested positive. I was given valtrex and in two days I felt so much better. Since then I have had two outbreaks and I have to say thank God they werent as painful. I got an ob less than a month after my first. This devastated me and I looked for alternative methods to avoid having an outbreak every month. Lysine and olive leaf extract work wonders!!! 1000mg a day and if you feel a tingle double the intake. Take as many vitamins as you can, they help in one way or another. I didnt have an ob again until a few weeks ago tgat I went on vacation and stopped taking my vitamins, Im sure the ob had everything to do with that. The itch is intense, thanks to this website I made a paste with water tylenol pm and vagisol satin and the itch immediaty stopped it was like I was normal again. I was so happy I cried. I love this website. Its so hard to believe that this disease afflicts so many good people, I was ignorant to believe it only happened to promiscuos people. Therw is help out there, find something that works for you and stick to it. Dont let this disease take control of your life. Good luck everyone. You are not alone.

I was diagnosed with GH in 2008 only a few months after I had my son. My husband, a United States soldier was unfaithful and passed it along to me. We are now divorced as he claims it wasn't him) and have 3 beautiful children together. I came across this website and am so thankful that I did. :) For the past 3 years I've lived in denial thinking how could this happen to me, I was faithful to my husband, why me, what did I do wrong, etc. I was heartbroken when the nurse called me and said 'I'm so sorry sweetheart but your results are positive.' My Mom is my best friend and I didnt tell her until about a month ago. I was ashamed to openly talk about it. I'm trying out a remedy that I'm praying will ease some of my pain, as I have an outbreak due to an increase amount of stress along with my period. I just wanted to thank everyone for letting me see that it's okay to have GH and that life can go on happily. I'll keep you guys posted, I'm trying the epsom salt bath & aloe vera. Blessings to all of you and thank you again!

I contracted both HSV-1 and HSV-2 in September 2010. My first OBs of both were late September, and I found out with a pos blood test that I had both. Yikes.

I thought my life was over and quite honestly, the HSV-1 was for me worse because it caused pretty obvious cold sores on my mouth, rather than HSV-2 causing an itchy rash 'down there' where the public would not see.

I immediately went on Acyclovir, but it made me kinda sick. Still got a cold sore once a month right before my period started (was on the pill at the time). On the good side, the Acyclovir kept my GH OBs at bay, leaving my first OB my only one.

After experiencing heart flutters and palpitations (not sure if related to Acyclovir - talk to a doc about that one), I decided to go off both the BC pill and Acyclovir in Dec 2010.

Since then (it is now March 2011), I've only had one GH OB (about a week after stopping Acyclovir) and NO cold sores.

I may have lucked out with a mild case of both, but here is what I do:

- Herpecin lip balm on lips like ALL THE TIME. I put this under my lip gloss even. Use especially at bedtime. It comes in a chapstick size container with an OBVIOUS label...just peel the label off and BAM! regular blistex people - nothing to see here! :)

- Drink plenty of water and stay away from sodas.

- Eat foods high in lysine and low on arginine - google this.

- Get plenty of rest and avoid stress. Stress is still the most common OB trigger EVERRRRR. When any life stressors eat at me I say to myself 'you're still alive', remembering what it was like to get the news, overcome it, and be thankful and I didn't get something life-threatening.

- If you are on the pill, stop taking it if you can. You should be using condoms anyways.

- If I get a cold sore, I pop it. You're not supposed to, but you can speed the heal time of it if you DO pop it, but there is the risk you will spread it somewhere else. Please watch out for touching your lips and then rubbing your eyes; same goes for GH OBs.....

- When I feel prodrome coming on (the tingling feeling right before a HSV-1 or HSV-2 outbreak), I will ice the area, RELAX, drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest, and use the Herpecin on my lips if I can, and an acyclovir topical gel on the GH OBs. These creams are marketed and sold my a pharmacist for a REASON; they work.

- Take daily vitamins, and Lysine supplements don't hurt, either. I don't take Lysine supplements, but I've been told people swear by them.

- Tell at least one person you love that you are infected. It helps to not keep it a secret - you're not a terrible person for having this - it's a damn skin disease, just with bad social stigma that in time will fade, especially since they are working on a cure soon.

Chin up and remember - you're still alive, so go live your life and don't let this get in the way :)

20 years old and diagnosed with genital herpes in December 2010...I thought my life was over. I told my boyfriend I had it and he instantly said I didn't get it from him. But after doing a little research and educating ourselves it is possible to have herpes and be asymptomatic...herpes also can lay dormant in your body for years until it decides to surface. But since Dec I have had a total of two small outbreaks that I blame poor eating habits on (college student) but to take care of my outbreaks I haved used carmex to rub on any forming blisters and it also helps with the itching. I have also purchased organic apple cider vinegar that I drink 2 tablespoons in a glass of water 3 times a day. I also apply it topically but it burns like hell! But will also lessen the pain and itch DRAMATICALLY. Ladies do not give up hope. Think of herpes as nothing more than a simple skin disease :) do no let herpes stop you from enjoying life

I found a cure for herpes, drink food grade hydrogen peroxide mix it with 8 oz of water, follow instructions here at educateyourself.org look up hydrogen peroxide cure for herpes, also research this topic over the intranet. I was cured in 2 mo. and suffered from this for 10 years. This kills all viruses in your body.
you can buy it online at walmart.com

There are several things that help. A hot epsom salt bath to soothe and alleviate itching, apple cider vinegar is good for the pain and also for yeast infections which you can also douche with diluted as well. Hydrogen Peroxide which is said to be antiviral but so far I just noticed it to be a little soothing. Tea Tree essential oil is good for the symptoms and also seems to lessen the time span. That's my favorite remedy so far. Baking soda paste is also good to stop itching. All these are great in a hot bath for GH and a large array of other health benefits. Everyone should try it. Lemon Balm essential oil is said to be the best. Studies were done in Germany I guess and not only did it rid the symptoms but would stop or cure the outbreaks in just a couple days. That's something I'm definately going to have to try.

I can't believe I haven't seen this remedy on any of the posts here because this truly works and its cheap and painfree. The best thing is, especially when hearing some people are plagued with numerous outbreaks, is I only had one reoccurrance a month after my initial and it was so mild I barely noticed it. I mean really, I had two minor spots to watch.

So here's what you do. If its your first outbreak, do this vigilantly. I've read numerous professional journals that back up what I'm saying...I know you can find them online if you look. So, you'll need lyseine,, which you can get for a couple of dollars at walmart. Your going to take megadoses of this as soon as you know your in trouble! You can't eat enough of this mineral. Take 3000-5000 mg a day during the outbreak and for a few days afterwards cause it may not clear up when you tthink. Sometimes some blisters clear and you miss one. Also, take megadoses of vitamin c....super cheap at walmart also. You want to take the lyseine say 1000mg before each meal or with milk for best absorbtion. The vit c, take as much as you can throughout the day, not all at once. We do not eat a diet high in vit c but if we did our immune system could fight better to attack what shouldn't be there. Take what you can, and if/when you get the runs, back down and you'll have found a megadose good for you. Take this everyday of your outbreak and then go on a low does everyday otherwise of lyseine, 1000mg/day and about 500mg of vit c/day to keep your immune system up and strong.

Ok, this next part is super important! I keep reading about crushing tylonal. What does that do but kill pain. Here you go...when at walmart, buy aloe vera gel. Its maybe two bucks and it goes a longgggg way. Now, go to a health food store if your walmart does not carry this next item. To me, if I do nothing else, this paste does
it all. It can get rid of blisters in less than 24 hrs or less! Find a bottle of 'melissa' also known as lemon balm. The label may have either name so be aware. Find a small dish or tuperware at home for your paste. All of my measurements ar approximate but once you do this you should find it not difficult. Take the aloe vera gel...it has antiviral and antibacterial properties and is a wonder! Pour or squirt a good size dollop in the container. If I measured it with sometinhg, it would be a giant tablespoon worth. Then, open one of the capsuls of the melissa/lemon balm and empty onto the gel. Mix and make a paste. Iit should be an ugly green color throughout. Now, for initial outbreaks, I would with a cotton ball or your fingers, smear it all over your entire genital area. Don't forget going back a little.you know...let yourself air dry or fan yourself a bit. Reapply this every couple hours. When you go to bed, apply liberally and wear no undies. Important, keep your paste clean. Don't turn it into a petri dish! So everytime you put something in, a finger, a cottonball or a qtip, it should be new and clean. Keep a lid on this so it doesn't dry out so you can use throughout the day. You likely need to make a new paste each day of your outbreak. Keep this in your bathroom or take with you to school/work to reapply. I'm telling you, I read tons on aloe vera and melissa that some journals even sppeak of people never having reoccurrances. Lookk it up. Ok, wear no undies or cotton undies from now on. Don't worry, there are tons so sexy thongs with cotton where it counts and lace on the edges. And really, I've gone pantieless now more times than ever...its a fun little secret. So keep up the lyseine and vit c or at min, keep them on hand. Whenever I have suspected even a tingle or an itch, for some reason, usually at night, I get up, pour aloe gel on a cotton ball and cover the entire area it it. You can apply the lemon ball mixture if you want but I've found the aloe sufficient and its clear, dries pretty fast and easy. But this is when I'm clear and only suspecting a tingle. I have only had my initial outbreak, last nov. And on reoccurance a month later. Since then, I've been on it. I kinda feel like I don't have it since I nip it in the bud before anything pops up.

Last things: keep your hands rediculous clean and wash under nails. Do not treat yourself with your bare hands if you could have any cuts or nicks on your fingers...it can transfer and be visible. Look those pics up. Ewww. If you shave around your genital area at all, even just a bikini area, keep a seperate razor. I buy bic soliel. They have multiple colors, including red. I keep red for the genital shaving, and others for the rest of the body. I do NOT shave if I suspect anything. Even if its an ingrown hair. Be vigilent or it could spread. Oh yeah, there is a little lyseine gel you can get if you want. Its expensive. 8 bucks for half ounce or something. I bought it in the beginning. I suppose its good to keep in ur pocket or purse in case you're out and unexpected...buut really, the aloe vera is amazing. As side note, I've been using the aloe alone on my face everyday. I started thikning maybe I was getting a blister on my face/mouth. It didn't get far and I've never had an outbreak on my face. But it went from apllying by my mouth area to my entire face after I started reading about properties and uses for aloe. So now, on my face and neck/chest area morning and night. (Watch around the eyes...can sting.) It alone entices skins to rebuild the elastin in your cells, tightens skins, reduces wrinkles and fights sun damage. Read on that too. Amazing! I really think that pharmacies and the medical feild has us believing that we need their medicines to keep these things at bay. Cause really, for less than ten bucks or so, you can get the melissa/lemon balm capsuls, the aloe, vit c, andlyseine. Ok, maybe somewhere around ten dollars. I've read current great stuff on megadosing on vit c for all the viral ailments....can you imagine, no one even buying theraflu? But we're ttalking youhave to take a lot. But apparently, its safe and does the job. All of these items are safe, natural, and can be easily found in a fifteen min trip to the store. I know what iv written is a lot but, I've been so good, I'm happy with my results. So lastly, about what to do emotionally: I was beyond devasted when I found out. I can't remember when I've cried so hard. But then, the a-hole who gave it to me said to me finally, hey it is what it is. Go on from here. You knowwhat? He was right! So, I got rid of him for his lack of truthfulness and with this it is what it is, I put my mind to reading all I could. I read so many medical journals, blogs, etc. Then I read a lot about each of the items I've told you about.

I was 17 when i found out that i had gh. My partner who i was with was very unconsiderate in telling me he had already been tested, and found positve. Even though that did'nt stop him from having unprotected sex with me knowing that he had gh. Rumors started going around that he had gh and that's when i got nervous and went and got tested! Gh did not show up in my test so i thought i was fine! But after being in discomfert for far to long, i had started putting a&d ointment on my genital areas and noticing that it was easing my pain and makining it go away. After a year i had went back to the doctor when i noticed somethings just were'nt looking normal, and thats when they diagnosed me with gh. Now whenever i have a outbreak i put a&d ointment on and i feel better! This remedy works for me and hopefully it will work for you!

I was diagnosed with HSV1 located genitally over 13 years ago. I had a BAD inital outbreak (heavy valtrex was used)... but NONE ever since (there is hope for those just diagnosed) until yesterday. While not nearly as bad as the first one, the location of this one is painful (it's swelling and making it hard to pee). I came on here and last night I took a bath in espom salts, and made a tylenol paste.
I used tylenol, benadryl (which is what the PM is in tylenol PM), and vagisil. Mixed into a paste. I dried the area well, applied Abreva and then applied the paste. OMG ... IT WORKS! All night and some of the morning I was pain/itch/burn free and the swelling was lessened. It started again this afternoon so I again soaked and reapplied. SO HAPPY it works.

I dont know when I got GH, but im just now getting over my first outbreak. Its been 2wks. I first tried using the tea tree oil after seing it on here, I used that in combination with Mercuroclear (sp?) Didnt think the TTO did much so I just used the Merc and it seemed to help a little with pain and kinda started healing them. I tried the abreva and it made my sores soo much worse and even caused me to break out more!!! I only did abreva 1x and stopped. Continued the merc and also a&d ointment. Took tylenol for the pain & fever (
For the burning while peeing, since my sores are on my labia and outer labia (only on the left side) I used a plastic card to block my urine stream...works like a charm!!! Good luck to you all! I hope this is my first & only outbreak for a loooong time!!!!

I had an outbreak on my genitals this week and while I have not made it to the doctor yet I'm pretty sure it is HSV because I've had HSV1 break outs on my lips and face since I was 13. So now I'm certain the virus had migrated. I really did not do anything that I have not already done naturally. I for once have NEVER taken any RX meds from doctors. After being diagnosed at 13 I simply researched options for natural remedies. I have handled it very well with maybe 4 aggresive break outs in 20 years, and they have got less aggressive with time. I am now 34 yrs old. These are some of the things I'm doing now:

I do Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar with mother, Do not use any other brand! I can't handle the sting topically but I drink it with my tea daily....I find that keeping your body PH levels balanced helps lessen the strength of the break outs....Women need to be naturally acidic but if your acid drops you are more prone to infections and weaker immune system.

For treatment DURING a break out I take things that strengthen my immune system: l-lysine 1000 twice daily, vitamin C 500mg 4 times per day. Oregano Oil capsules as recommended on label. Kyolic Garlic capsules. A good Multivitamin with high B-Complex and high vitamin D (1,000 IU or more). Antioxidant complex to aid in healing the cells on the skin faster. A GOOD Probiotic with at least 8 strains of bacteria!...and a product called Monolaurin which in studies has been shown to suppress viruses.
Topically I mix a Lysine ointment by Quantum(which has olive oil, bee propolis, zinc and garlic oil) with a 99% pure aloe gel and half powder from a probiotic capsule...then I apply it on the affected area. Once you have a break out I found that sipping on water with baking soda (maybe a teaspoon per cup) through out the day helps weaken the virus by balancing the body's PH levels.
For regular days and to maintain my immune system I only do the multivitamin, vitamin c once per day, the oregano, the garlic, probiotic and the monolaurin. And of course the Apple cider in my tea once per day.
My diet has changed completely since I was a teen....no chocolate, no soda or extreme sweets/sugar, NO coffee, and minimal to non alcoholic drinks. Nuts are off the list too!
I worked as a manager for a holistic health and sports nutrition store/company which I can not name here for 9 years and the things above are what I had found most effective with my customers with HSV and by first hand experience.
EVERYONE's body is different so don't worry if some of these don't work for you, Keep looking and trying! :) there is so much out there specially to strengthen your immune system..... GOOK LUCK!

I've had HSV 2 for nearly 20 years- given to me as a 'gift' from my second partner. I was devastated and isolated and my world completely fell apart. It affects your self-esteem & confidence.
I'm happy to say that I have never once used a pharmaceutical drug/med to deal with an outbreak, & I'm happy also that the outbreaks came in the first year, and fortunately disappeared each year til now.. So no outbreaks for 18 years, until now, as I over-dosed on argenine(nuts).
Stress contributes too.
I eventually married a partner who loved me for me and never contracted HSV 2- amazing!
Initially, I would use salt baths & calamine lotion. Really cleansing & soothing.
Now, whilst enduring this outbreak... I'd actually forgotten I actually had HSV (by the way- I've never been diagnosed but it's pretty damn obvious!).. So this week I've used coconut oil... Amazing relief. Melted on to hands and smothered over the area. Also, Celtic sea salt diluted in warm water, applied with make-up pad.
I take Lyseine , Zinc, garlic.
I am considering using hydrogen peroxide so am researching it.
Thanks for sharing your remedies & I pray for calm & peace for all HSV sufferers.

I have discovered my outbreaks occure after shaving around the genital area.
I have had very sever outbreaks that require prescribed medication. But recently I have increased my L-lysine when an OB is occurring, keeping the area dry (with tampon/ hair dryer), & my biggest saviour is Bonjela. A teething gel, it stings like hell for no more then 1 min (very intense) but then I get 2-3 hours of no pain/itch/discomfort. I also find bonjela drys the blisters up very quickly prob due to the alcohol base. Works for me a lot more then aloe
Vera gel/lemon balm etc.
Hope this helps

SO i saw this thing about making a tylenol pm paste. Well i took it an extra step. One of the most affective numbing agents that i know of is cloves. so i made a clove, tylenol and abreva paste. crush the tylenol and clove together then use the abreva to make the paste. apply to sore. and WHALLAAAA.. the pain goes away. the clove numbs the sore. the tylenol keeps the pain away, and the apreva really helps the healing process.

My heart goes out to you all including myself. I was diagnosed 28 yrs ago. I unfortunately, took a shower and used the wrong towel. I thought my world was over. Was told by the diagnosing dr. I would never be able to have kids. We there is hope because there is a God above who heard my crys. This is what I did. You must first mentally refuse to accept. It seems that the stress of having it was a trigger for me. Once I refused it, I did my homework and used old fashioned remedies. I took a warm bath every night using Dial soap, the gold bar. My grandmother swore it could kill anything. Since my sores were on my labia and inside I put zinc oxide on the open sores. Its what they use for diaper rash. Your urine will run right over the open sores without any pain. I also held my vagina apart during urination to prevent my urine from touching me. Drink plent water to ensure your urine doesn't get too strong. That helps a lot. Wear loose underware and when your alone with no one around don't wear any underware. The air heals them in no time. Wash your hands often and AVOID the eye area with unclean hands. If you refuse to let it take over it can't. I'm now 50 years old with 2 children and a husband who was warned over 25 years ago that I ha d it but loved me despite it all. I noticed the older I got the less the obs come. I went for 5 years without any incident and then stress entered into my life and back they arrived and in different places. Also, Ester C vitamins helped keep my immune system in tact thereby keeping me free. Good luck. I hope this helps. You can live with it just don't let it control you. You CONTROL it! God bless. LM

Hello, im 23 and I've had GH for years and the best thing to do is keep the area clean and keep it dry. To get rid of the little boogers I soak in a bath of Luke warm water with bleach in it. Then afterwards I use a Q-tip to directly apply bleach to the blisters. Rub it into them for as long as you can stand it. The pain will subside and stay gone. Do this as often as possible and they will be gone within a day or so. Yea it hurts but bleach kills 99.9 percent of viruses, says so on the label and GH is a virus ;)

take 2-3,1000 mg tablets of L-Lysine daily. And wipe genital area with MERCUROCLEAR (a topical antiseptic/anesthetic). I got it at Walmart for under $3 for 2 fl. Oz. Surprisingly the active ingredient in both is a form of hydrochloride). I noticed some change since using the L-Lysine but way BETTER RESULTS since using the Mercuroclear. I have had two bumps that only stayed for 2 days each but never filled with puss & were not painful. Before that, I had two that would never fully heal for over 2 months! Those two are completely gone now. I also quit eating peanuts & started eating way more brocoli (like 2-3 times per week). I made that decision after reading about foods to avoid when you have herpes.

Run water in a tub as hot as you can stand it. While the water is running in, get salt and put about 4 tablespoons under the running water. Make sure you mix the salt around. You only have to put just enough water to sit in, making sure it's covering the area. This will ease the pain, cause it to bust, and thus heal faster!

TYLENOL P.M.....Please make sure that when you apply this that your area is clean and dry... You will need to make sure that after you apply the paste that you lay and let dry for a few minutes... Do not put any under clothing on until it dries... Lay and watch the itch and pain go numb!!!!...(He thicker the paste the better... I usually use about five or six tylenol pm crushed and dissolved with hot water (not a lot of water a tiny drop)... Then I just wipe unto my area! Cover it on the inside of the vulva and outside even the vagina... It will not hurt!...it will not burn, you may feel the sensation of the medicine starting to work but spoon (about two minutes) you will feel so at ease!!! TRY THIS!!!...

Just came on here to inform everyone about lysine dosage. I was taking 3,000 daily for 6 months because I had frequent outbreaks. Now I wish I was more informed on the side effects. This week I started having severe abdominal, liver, and kidney pain. I went to have blood drawn and everything came back normal except I had too much acid in my body that was eating away at my stomach muscles. They did further testing and, thank god, no major organs were affected. I stopped taking it today and still have some pain, but I know each day will get better. I was also taking bragg's apple cider vinegar for 2 months to help alkaline my body, but I think it did the reverse because my urine ph test was very low. Just wanted to share my experience so people can learn some times following someone else's remedy isn't the best until you explore all side effects and, most importantly, consult with a doctor first!

As soon as you feel run down or tingly like your going to have an outbreak, load up on orange juice and L-Lysine it is a vitamin sold over the counter and it is inexpensive, also eat foods rich in Lysine like yogurt. Drink lots of fluids and rest. You can take Lysine on a daily basis to prevent outbreaks also try echinacea another vitamin that builds up your immune system.

I agree about keeping the area dry and clean. I've been doing this for a while now and it's been improving. After showering, I gently dry the area, apply some Oxyfend cream, and repeat again in the evening.

Seems to be improving nicely. GH seems to thrive in moist warm areas so try beat it at its own game.

THANK YOU so very much for creating this blog/archive!!!!!!!!!!

I have had GH (diagnosed as HSV1) since 1988. Initially I had ONE MAJOR outbreak back then, two weeks after entering into a physical relationship with a man I had been seeing for about two months. That said, I had horrible pain and discomfort and thought that I had a tear in the back of my vagina. Low and behold, when I went to the GYN she tested me and I was diagnosed with HSN1 -- being 18 yrs old at the time was not helpful, as this was absolutely devastating to me! He was 8 years older than me and had an ex wife (he was recently separated) and a two year old daughter...

I was obviously young at the time and was undereducated about these types of viruses. I went home and told him about the diagnosis and he stated it was absurd. Well, at the time he wasn't aware that I was explaining it was simplex 1 -- which was caused by oral and was then transferred to me that way. He had frequent outbreaks of fever-blisters and just discarded them as if it were nothing. Back then, I had no clue that those little things were actually HSV1. Anyway, I had one outbreak 5 years after that, and another one about 5 years after that. I treated myself back then with tea tree oil because I was very familiar with it and the medicinal properties. I have NOT had any obs since 1998-99 until just this past week and OMG how I had forgotten the pain associated with it.

I take multi-vitamins daily, 1000mg of vitamin C, inter-muscular B, eat a lot of yogurt and liquid vitamin D3 twice a week. Over the past two weeks, I haven't been drinking water as I normally do and failed to take the vitamin C. In just two weeks -- I ended up with an ob. I was and have been in so much pain since Tuesday it's been unbearable and in fact, I have taken a low dose pain pill for it(because it hurt that bad!) NOTHING was helping and vinegar and tea tree were bringing tears to my eyes. :(

That said, I found this WONDERFUL page and just this morning read through again about the remedies you all have shared. Well... I left straight to the pharmacy and got the following:
TylenolPM
mercuroclear
vagasil satin
and mixed together the paste! WOW already! I am PAIN and ITCH free... not burning either.

Additionally, I did get a personal douche bag and hydrogen peroxide 3% and douched 50/50 water and peroxide. I am feeling pretty darn good! THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR SHARING!!!!!!!!!! WOW! You all are incredible and I hate it for all of us that we suffer through this pain however, I do eat right and knowing what I have now learned... I will NEVER skip my vitamin C again... I am doubling up on it right now.

I will report back and let everyone know how long it takes to 'heal'. Based on how I am feeling, I am guessing about two days.

Much Love and Blessings to All!

I've found attitude as critically important, to relieve the stress. Do whatever to rise above it. My research reveals that 40 million people have GH and over a million more get it each year, some populations it exceeds 50%, while the majority of those with GH have no symptoms. We are not alone... and just let the stress go and quit being so judgemental about our self! The more I read, the more I find GH becomes quite manageable. No one needs to blame anyone and we are all equally innocent, as each person probably got it much like we did.

I tried the nail polish remover and that made it so much worse. eek! The apple cider vinegar wasn't much help either.

Clean with hydrogen peroxide, use topical zinc, increase lysine and vitamin C, reduce the stress, and that's working well after just one day. Optional: watch a funny comedy... try laughing.

The next challenge is to know when and how to inform and educate a potential future partner, who probably already has GH but doesn't know it. If they're understanding, they're a 'keeper.' If they're not, then they're probably shallow and not my type. Anyway, protection is always a necessity.

I was diagnosed with genital herpes when I was 17 years old (2005) I got it from my ex-boyfriend/son father. Anyways my first OBb was the worst and since then I have had like 3 OB. Three days ago I started to have a tingling, burning feeling on the opening area genitalia and I felt a bump. I know it was an OB coming on so i decided to Google home remedies and I got to this site. I decided to try this remedy that I saw posted:
L-lysine 1000mg (3x)
Zinc 50mg (3X
Eat 2 clove of garlic
campho-pheqiue and Tylenol paste applied to infected area 2 times a day by day two all discomfort is gone and now day 3 the bump has been reduce. So I didn't get a blister and I really think it it because of this regimen. I would wipe the area with hydrogen peroxide before I apply the paste.
Whoever came up with this remedy God bless you

I just found this sight so thank you for the advise. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 6 years ago and thus put on high doses of Embrel then Humira. As those wreck havoc on your immune system I soon had my first ob. In my case it shows up in the most interesting area. Always on my lower left butt cheek. My Doctor says I could have had the virus for years but sat dormant as I had not been sexually active for quite some time. When the ob starts, within an hour I can tell if it will be a major or minor one. I currently take 800mg of Acyclovir daily but doesn't really make a major impact. I look forward to trying out these remedies and also remedies for the faint scaring that is happening to my snow white caucasian butt cheek.
I will certainly repost as I try these out.

Asyou all know , genetal herpes cannot be cured , once you have it , you haveit for life. But there are ways to help the infection heal faster and not hurt as much ..
What i do when i get a outbreak , is soak in a hot bath with 2 cups of epsom salt . When i get out i dry the area carefully , and i use extra sensetive baby wipes , and open my private area with two fingers. i then use the wipes n clean along the walls of my labias and the top of my clitorous .. this will hurt , but the area will be completely cleaned. then i use vitamin a&d on the sores. also if you need to urinate n cant because its painful , the best thing to do is take a toliet paper roll and use that to seperate your labia and pee through that .. its a excellent way to prevent burning. HOPE THIS HELPS

I haven't tried anything yet except for the baking soda. I wouldn't recommend using it because of the excessive amount of burning. Left me crying in front of my boyfriend, who is extremely worried about my condition.

I will be buying some Epsom salt either tonight, if I feel that I can go out with the pain that I'm in, or tomorrow. Otherwise, I read a few articles and stories about eating foods that are high in lysine and low in arginine. A few good examples are fish, chicken, peanuts, and soybeans. I heard that these should help your body process the food quicker, therefore somehow healing GH sooner.

If anybody has any great remedy that is natural or cheap, feel free to email me at Sumchikudunno520@aol.com. Thanks and I hope my information helped. Keep your fingers crossed. Like they say. 'no pain, no gain.' Sometimes the pain is worth it.

I noticed a small red bump on my penis about 4 months ago and was not sure what it was, I went to see a doctor and he assured me that it was not genital herpes and handed me a few lubes which I cannot recall the name of however they contained some sort of benzoyl.

I read through every topic on this forum and realized that Apple Cider Vinegar is perhaps the best solution, i proceeded and purchased all the necessary items.

For the first two days I used a cotton ball directly on the red mark, making sure that I do not use the same cotton ball when I touch another area and keeping that whole area sanitized. It didn't burn, but after two days it started burning and I couldn't sleep at night it was hurting so bad. I proceeded with the ACV treatment even though it was burning like hell and about 2 days later after I stopped I noticed that the vinegar burnt a whole part of my skin, which is alright I guess it was going to heal.. After a day or two the scabs fell off and other red dots appeared on the other side.. Now I'm treating that, and it sucks. I do not even know what to do anymore and it's making me very upset as I'm unable to meet women or develop any sort of relationship with them.

My plan right now is eat a lot of vitamins, Garlic, Vitamin C, Fish Oil, Oranges, Orange juice, anything with vitamins really, continue the ACV treatment until I can't do it anymore and then make sure the area is dry for complete heal. I have no idea how long it's going to take but I'll update if anything really happens.. I think that the only solution perhaps is to cut my dick off. :/

I was diagnosed over 3 years ago, so around late 2008 I found out. I am ashamed til this very day but my husband/babies father accepts it and supports my home remedies because he sees how horrible I feel down there. The thing that bothers me most is knowing I have this descusting std. I hate having to be super cacious around my children and especially my husband. As far as we know, he hasn't gotten it yet. I have no idea where I got this from, I have been with my husband for over 6 years and have had no sexual contact with anyone else. It's horrible; i feel gross, dirty, ugly, embarrassed and much more during an outbreak.

So as far as remedies; I've tried the L-Lysine and it works for me. I am in the mix of an outbreak right now and I was reading up on some of your guys' remedies. I went out and baught some Vitamin C pills and some bee propolis and royal jelly, I found these all at CVS pharmacy.

Good luck to you all and God bless. Without the power and strength from HIM, I'd be a reck! My husband is amazing, so as long as you find great emotional support, you'll be fine. I'm still trying to accept this, as you can see, but I'm getting better and better with each outbreak.

I found out about a year ago that I have genital herpes. Thanks to this site I have only had 2 minor breakouts since, and it is all because of the crushed tylenol pm/abreva/water paste. This is amazing. I felt so stupid with blue genitalia, and my fiance was laughing at me, but now he makes sure I always have some on hand. Let me tell you one more thing that will help. Neosporin. Oh. My. God. Why I didn't think of it before I have no idea. I literally use it the second I see a blister coming during the day, and between that and the paste, my last 'outbreak' was 2 barely there blisters for 2 days. I really hope this helps, and for all those who are looking here for the first time, you are not alone. It is manageable. Keep your head up! :)

I've had herpes for a little over a year. My initial outbreak landed me in the hospital for 4 days. My doctor said it was the worst case she had ever seen. I contracted HSV-1 genitally from oral sex. My fiancé, now husband, had a cold sore... And the rest is history. I've had two more out breaks since and both were absolutely nothing compared to the first. First sign of an outbreak I take Valtrex as prescribed my my doctor. I also take l-lysine, garlic pills, vitamin c, and my daily multivitamin. I do not take Valtrex daily when I'm not experiencing an outbreak, nor do I take lysine because both are damaging to the kidneys. Aside from that I use a Sitz bath with hot water and Domboro. Domboro is like Epsom salt, but I think it works better. Its an antiseptic and it relieves itching and pain. Also It dries out the sores. If I'm really burning or itching I may mix a little tea tree oil, alcohol free aloe Vera, and some Benadryl cream. I apply that to my perineum and it provides cooling relief. Other than that, I just wait for it to heal. Usually clears up in a couple days. Like I said, the two outbreaks I've had since my initial one have been pieces of cake to manage. I'd be careful applying peroxide or bleach to open wounds. I'm an ER RN and those are harsh chemicals that have caused many bad burns to people. Also, if your pregnant, please consult your MD or midwife before taking any supplements. Valtrex is okay and usually given a few weeks before delivery. A lot of herbals have terrible side effects during pregnancy, such as pre-term labor or placental abruption, which can be fatal to baby. So just be careful. Hope this helps.

Just diagnosed today with HSV. Married with two children and 8 months pregnant. Suffering through my first outbreak. I'm in severe pain despite the pain medication I've been prescribed. My husband of 8 years was tested today as well. (No infidelity involved, only one/both of us unknowingly infected.) Please keep us in your thoughts as we journey through this physically painful time.

Does the aloe vera gel sting? Thanks.

Over a period of years and by a process of elimination I was able to conclude beyond doubt that cranberries either brought on or exacerbated my herpes outbreaks (in my navel cleft, top of behind crack).
Steering clear of them, I can go many many months without but only a week ago I had some christmas cake, two days later outbreak. checking the ingredients, there they were. I'm not saying the same will apply to everyone but it is worth monitoring.

I have had GH for over 10 yrs I love this website I've read a lot of wonderful ways to help me through IE:tylenol PM paste and epsom salt baths. My OB's are few and far between and I am sure everyone is different. I read a lot of advice about certain foods triggering OB's. I do not drink alcohol but I am a chocoholic and I love nuts. I'm very laid back so stress is not my trigger I do notice however when I'm sick and prescribed a penicillen derived antibiotic I get a yeast infection along w/GH OB when I'm sick I always ask the doc for sulfatrim or something that's not fungal based.

This site is seriously a saviour for me. I just found a small cluster of blisters today and only have one repeat on my valtrex prescriptions. I want to save it for a time that the clusters are larger.

I have had herpes for one year and have had 4 outbreaks total. Usually when I have an outbreak, I put a cottonball over the opening of my vagina and use 3% hydrogen peroxide. The cottonball prevents the hydrogen peroxide from going inside me so I can completely douse the area. I have a spray bottle so I just spray it directly on. It tingles a little bit and burns at the blisters but they dry out almost immediately. It works wonders.

I just tried the tylenol pm paste (using tylenol, benedryl vagasil and water) and that also worked so well.

I'm going through my first outbreak (I think) and what I've noticed bothered the area most was my vaginal secretions. I know this might not be a great idea, but I've started using tampons to keep any secretions from coming in contact with the sores. It has worked well so far, I make sure I change them often to avoid TSS, and as far as the string goes, I just tuck it in with the rest of it so it doesn't rub up against any of the sores. Hope this helps!

As soon as you feel like your about to have a out break, keep the infected area clean and dry. You can keep it dry by using a cornstarch powder and sleep without underwear.

Desitin baby rash cream or any generic brand works well. It soothes it and keeps it dry for fast healing and comfort.

I have dealt with Genital Herpes for a few years now. I went from 6 out breaks my first yr, to one every 14 months now. For one, taking a daily med is best, however your immune system never gets use to the virus. Over time, outbreaks are less frequent. My trick has been to stay healthy! Anything that can compromise your immune system, viral and bacterial, can make you more prone to outbreaks. So, I decided to take a step in my own recovery. I went from the head down. I had my teeth looked at, filled/fixed/and cleaned. I see a dentist twice a year now. I maintain a proper diet of heavy micro-nutrients(watch fat, 40 and nearly dead!) I eat lean meats and I work out regularly. I also take Lycine pills daily (1500mg) as well as a daily vitamin, zinc, and garlic. I work out four days a week, and I shower/clean regularly. Stay healthy. Don't smoke dummies! Oh, mentally you need to stay fit also, be upfront with relationships. Remember everyone probably has warts or herpes! When you feel your outbreak happen (generally a tingle or burn) start your meds then. The 5 day treatment with acyclovir is what I do. Do not cover the blisters with anything!! They need to breath. The virus is very weak outside of the skin. That's why you can't be touching them, then touching thin skinned areas like baby's cheeks, your lips/eyes or anus!! Yikes!! Now, as I have stated I've dealt with this for years. There are set backs. You might get really sick, you will get an outbreak. You may get a 'second crop' or a recropping. All very normal. An some are stubborn and don't leave right away. Just stay cool. You won't die! Don't scratch. Once everything is healed, then apply the zinc cream. Do this daily if you want. It will return your skin color to normal. Good luck, and remember...it's herpes, everyone has it. Or at least 2 outta every 5 people you know! Gross! Haha! Bye!

I am a 42 year old female, contracted GH when I was 33 years old. Like everyone else who have discovered when they first have it, I cried terribly, thought it was the end of my world, and a complete end to any future intimate relationships. I felt dirty and useless. When I came to an understanding with myself that I can't let GH take control of my life, I went online and come across many helpful websites to help me deal with it. I was fortunate to have found someone who understands what I have and loves me regardless --he's now my husband. He's been also persistant doing research online for the most current treatements and possible (and hopeful) vaccines for getting rid of this annoying virus forever.
Initially, my OB was mainly on the same , small spot. Just two days ago, I now have small OBs on the sides of my vaginal walls. I was hoping it would not spread anywhere else, but I decided not to let it get me down all over again, and treat my OBs like I normally do.
As for my OBs, I can tell I'm about to have one when I feel a 'muscle ache' around my genital area ( when I flex my muscles down there ) or I have a terrible cramping that runs from my right buttock down the back of my thigh. I'm thinking the virus stimulates sciatica. Sciatica is the irritation of one of the many spinal nerve roots which results in pain--which we know that's where the pesky GH virus lies dormant. Sometimes, my right butt cheek feels like it's asleep as well --but those are my tell-tale signs that I will have an OB.
I take Lyseine (1000 mg )2-3x/day once my signs appear; for suppression I take 1000mg once a day. At times, the OB doesn't happen if I take them early enough, but when the OB does appear, it's present for 2-3 days. I also take Valtrex(valacyclovir) 500mg 1 tab once a day; if I have signs of an OB, I take Valtrex 1 tab 2x/day.
I do try and get enough sleep, be around positive people and have a positive outlook in my life, workout ( P90X and TurboFire are the programs I do ), yoga, and eat healthy as much as possible. I avoid foods that have arganine and nuts. I do have chocolate once in a great while, but I don't see that as a trigger for me.
Also, once in awhile my period will set my OB off, too.
My home remedies are pretty much what I have read on this site and others so far, along with what my husband discovered as well; I keep my vaginal area clean --washing 2-3x/day with Dial Antibacterial bodywash. ( I bought a cheap spray bottle and used it to mix my Dial bodywash and warm water, and washed the area.) Pat dry. I applied a light dust of baking soda with a cotton pad on the external and internal parts of my vaginal area( which did sting for a few )so I dabbed a water-soaked cotton pad to lessen the sting, which it did. I then appled a thin coat of Vagisil afterwards. I also put my blowdryer on low/warm setting on the area.I have to say--no more itching and burning! Since I am at home, I don't wear panties to help the area air out --what I do during an OB is to wear loose, guy's boxers. :)
Take care to everyone.

I came on this site to look for some home remedies for GH. I am greatful to everyone for sharing their stories and advice so I will share mine. I was diagnosed with GH when I was 19 which was 12 years ago. I used to call it my personal nightmare. At the beginning it wasn't so bad but about 2 years ago I started to have outbreaks back to back literally. I would have at least 2 outbreaks a month. They would last about a week. They were so painful that I would not be able to walk. I had to cancel engagements and lie constantly to hide my personal nightmare. The pain was so unbearable that I was buying percocet from people who had prescriptions for them. That became my only relief. I went into a deep depression for months. I felt dirty, ashamed, lonely and hate towards the person who gave it to me. I finally got out of my dark hole recently and I am doing better. I still have outbreaks but they are not as painful and I am able to manage them better. The one thing that I do when I have an outbreak is pop the blisters with a paper towel on top of it so it doesn't spread anywhere. It helps them to heal faster and it greatly reduces the pain. I have also noticed that when I drink liquor especially, it brings on an outbreak. Like everyone, stress always brings it on. If anyone needs some support, I am willing to listen.

God bless you...

The past couple of months been hell i tried everything from baking soda to apple cider. the best advice i can give u is to not touch ur herpes with unclean hands or use a towel to dry down there. my herpes spreaded to the crack of my ass and my left arm. Blow dryer or fan is the thing ever.

What i use

Since my last doctor's appointment my doc didn't prescribe me any medication i had to come out of my pocket and buy everything, i losted my job this may and money has been tight.

so i take three hot baths (10-20 min) a day using epsom salt(3.00), apple cider(1.00) and tea tree oil(3.00). all of these can be found at walmart, family dollar, cvs, etc. I feels so good because i can feel my bumps start to tingle and harden after three baths. i use to use baking soda, bleach, windex, alcohol, tooth paste, etc but it burns so damn much i couldn't take the pain.

So i did some research on many sites and came acrosds tynol pm and mixed and a paste. so i went to walmart and bought they brand (3.86).

After my bath, i use peroxide because it doesnt burn as much and blowed dried it until its no longer wet, i mixed the tyrnol pm into a paste using several drops of water. you do this by crushing 3-4 pills. i love it, it burns but not to extreme if ur someone who cant take pain like myself. i lay there until it dries and then put on cotton panties.

my doctor told me to wear granny panties or free ball so thats what i been doing. i also take l-lysine 1000mg (4.00) 3-4 times a day, multi vitamins (4.00), orange juice and i drink plenty of water.

it works after five months of having bumps they finally stop spreading and are going away. i still cry but my sister is my support system because she also has it on her lips. if u need anyone to talk to let me kno and ill listen its tough but never forget that you are not alone

You all are in my prayers, together we can fight this. i dont know when the next time ill be intimate with a man, but i went a year and half without sex and i can do it again.

Prayer, forgive others as well as yourself, and a positive support system who would not judge you will make herpes seem not like a big problem. Remember you are never alone.

i hope this helps

I keep reading all of the same treatments, but I have to be honest as a medical professional with GH there are a few things I would like to address. First off if you swear by Tylenol PM placed topically all that really does is apply a drying pain reliever that the main benefit is actually the PM part which is actually Diphenhydramine HCL which is actually Benadryl. It can help with inflammation and itching to provide relief. You can buy this in dye free soft gels where no crushing is needed or in the cream they make over the counter and you can either apply directly or mix with a topical anesthetic Lidocane being an easy one to get. Or the use of Aloe if you find that more soothing. Taking the Tylenol Or Advil by mouth works as well. You can take up to 4 of each if needed that is prescription strength. Also the use of hydrogen peroxide can make it worse. It dries out open sores so if you already have the ulcers this can make them worse because of them drying out and cracking which also prevents healing time. It is also why it should not be used on open wounds. Ever notice how dried out your fingers get turning white if in contact with it for too long? The use of oral medications is best but if you can not afford them I have had patients that have used some cold sore treatments with success but this depends on if you have type 1 or type 2 type 1 patients usually see the better results. The cotton application is good for every one and women who can should use tampons so they prevent the area from being warm and moist breading bacteria which can make the condition worse. If you want to go the natural route H-balm has worked for me and others as well as taking L-Lysine I recommend you speak to a doctor or health care specialist whether they be a doctor or herbalist before trying anything. I know how hard it can be to afford medications I have had that problem for you who can't think about appealing to the company that makes the drug many of them have patient assistance programs. I hope this helps in some way and hope everyone feels better.

After reading all your posts i felt compelled to share my story. I was diagnosed with GH type 1 about 6 months ago. This was absolutely the most devastating time of my life.. I had been with 3 people and all long term relationships. I went into a deep depression and was in a painful nightmare that I didn't think would end. I have been OB free so far without taking suppressive medication. My first OB was an absolute nightmare, but what helped me was taking acyclovir and applying lidocane gel to the lesions to ease the pain. I also took tylenol with codeine which really helped ease the pain. I pray that I never have to deal with such an intense OB again, but luckily i found a routine of meds that work for me. If you need to use a more natural remedy, i would suggest warm baths with baking soda, keeping the area dry, wearing cotton underwear and nothing too constricting. I have heard great things about coconut oil killing the herpes virus when applied to lesions, but i have not tried it. My heart goes out to all the hsv sufferers, remember you're not alone and it could definitely be worse. This site helped me so much in learning how to accept my condition and learn that there is life after hsv. I wish all of you the best!!

I HAVE FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING THAT WORKS!!! like many people that will read this, I was fed up with having outbreaks because of too much friction. I have seen everything on here from bleach to pepper. I actually tried the bleach with no success.I found that what actually works is propolis, found at any health food or organic store. 1 pill a day. I found it after the symptoms of an outbreak and it completely fought it off with no outbreak. i have been taking 1 a day for the past 6 months and have had no issues. Before, I was plagued with an outbreak almost once a month. And for those of you that want prescription help without having to see a doctor, you can order valtrex with no prescription at XLpharmacy. I ordered some after I got the propolis just in case it didnt work. Haven't had to use it yet!

I do not know if I have herpes yet, I am to be tested on Tuesday. However, I am positive that this is an initial outbreak. I got on this site and tried the Epsom Salt, Tea Tree Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar bath. I sat in the hot bath for about 15 minutes. Then I used the Abreeva and the Tylenol PM paste. Its been amazing. I started out by using a baking soda paste that hurt so bad when I put it on. The Tylenol PM paste doesn't hurt at all. I can already see the swelling going down also. ITs really a miracle 'cure'.

ZILACTIN WORKS!! Ive used it for years. I've had it for 16 yrs and taking a large amount of lysine when you first feel it coming on will help. Also, keeping myself shaved keeps me from breaking out. Something about having hair down there flares up a break out. The best thing I've found for breakouts is ZILACTIN... It's the best!!! It burns bad at first but it puts a protective coat on it and it will heal it up in no time. Don't waste your money on the other stuff. Eat more red meat during a breakout. Don't be so hard on yourself, you can control this.

I have had GH for 10 years now and for some reason my main Trigger is STRESS! So I don't always have the money for valtrex or acyclvoir because they are very expensive! Normally I only get 1 to 2 outbreaks a year but sometimes it can be just like the very first and everyone knows what that one is like! So I started thinking what would give me relief so that it stops itching and would dry up THANK GOD for my 3 y/o because I thought WAIT diaper rash~ So I took Baby Desitin and Baby Powder and it took the itch and pain away BE VERY CAREFUL USING THESE ITEMS IF YOU HAVE KIDS I RECOMMEND USING GLOVES BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO PUT THE GERM ANYWHERE NEAR THE ITEMS YOU PUT ON YOUR CHILD!!! Good Luck and I hope this helps

I have had GH2 for 12 years. The best thing that has worked for me is the Black Salve. It is a black cream and you put it on when you first feel it coming and it will stop the ob. It will sting sometimes and if you are not careful, it can burn. You have to monitor the amount of time you leave it on, no more than 20 minutes, or it could be less. You only have to apply it once and very rarely twice. The Black Salve dries up the sores so fast and you can see the abnormal skin turn off-white. I have tried everything and spent so much money on stuff that never worked. Try it, if anything try this, it works. You can also put some on the bottom of your spine, once or twice every two weeks. The cream will last you months. I also use DMSO 99.9% and Virgin Coconut Oil on my spine, back and front. Always wash first and spray with hydrogen peroxide 3% before putting DMSO and the VCO on your skin. You can do this once or twice a week, depending on your ob's. I take Lecithin 2500mg, Lysine 3000mg, Red Marine 900 mg with my vitamins every day. I have been taking MMS2 3-5 pills daily for six months and plan to do it for a year. I also take Cell Food drops in my water for Oxygen, and take a spoon of VCO in the mornings. I do take a baking soda and Apple Cider Vinegar once a day to alkaline my body. I haven't had an ob in almost a year and still counting. All of this has help me, but what made a difference was the Black Salve. Remember, it dries up to sores in 20 minutes or less, and stops it from multiplying. You don't have to wait days or weeks. Don't give up and good luck.

The more I read these, the more I feel like a failure... I am so depressed, scared to tell my husband, can't afford the rx meds and in pain! Crying my eyes out because I feel alone, but I know I'm not because of all this information here. Why don't we take care of our bodies when we have the chance? I hope my daughter or son never has sex, and I know that's a selfish thing to say, but the world is a evil place. I'm going to try these ideas and struggle to even think I have to do this, but I'm lost... I know prayers works, I hope it does before I die.

I have had GH for about a year, had my first OB on my penis about 6 months ago. I have tried abreava and it did seem to help a little with my first OB. now I am having my 3rd OB and it has been a week and a half. the first week I tried the acetone thing and abreava which seemed to work in the past but this time not so much. I also take the mega doses of L-lysine 6000mg daily during an OB and 1000mg when not having an OB but it dosent seem to stop the OB as I have had 2 in about 6 weeks. This time when the abreava and acetone didnt seem to work I found this site. I tried cleaning the sores with iodine and then applying lemon balm and that seemed to help. Then I read things about asprine and also alum (used in pickling) so i tried the alum and that did help a little, so I figured try them all..... so I made my own ointment if you will. Put it on before bed and in the morning things were a lot better. the sores were dried up and some had little black scabs, but felt much better. so my ointment consisted of the following..... about a 1/2 teaspoon or alum, 1 1000mg L-lysine crushed up, then enough lemon balm to make a paste. then since the alum is line salt i but that in the microwave for about 10 seconds to heat it up an dissolve everything. after mixing it up so it was a consistent I added a little abreave. I then cleaned the sores with iodine, a little sting, but not bad, then applied my ointment. Not saying it will work for you, as I think that different treatments work better for some people then others, but it work for me. I wish you all luck. hope it helps.

I have been suffering with genital for the better part of a year. I have tried most of the remedies her plus using Valtrex. I finally found something that has eliminated all symptoms for me. The first thing was for the lesions. It is called Silver Shield Cosmetic Gel. Dab it on, results in a few hours. Takes away pain. Tries up bumps. I also used Colloidal Silver Spray internally. But the best thing that I found is called Cerassee. It is a Jamaican Herb that you make into a tea. It is the plant from the bitter melon plant. Tastes horrrible...works great. I drink 2-3 cups per day. All symptoms have disappeared. This herbs has many medical uses. It can be found in Jamaican, Latin, and Indian grocery stores. Well worth a try. Also said to treat cancee and HIV.

I was diagnosed with it 2 years ago since than my outbreaks come than be gone for months than it will come again I learned taking hot bath in showers its a suggestion but I found if u put a small cap full of bleach or even a drop in ur tub cuts the outbreak into half time it usually disappears in two days. Also salt baths drinking water helps staying stressfree or listening tob calm music in the tub . Stay positive I do not take my antivirals every day . I have ms multiple sclerosis I notice once I started my treatment had fewer out breaks in fact I forget I have it until it shows up lol but I usually keep piece of paper towel down there after cleansing the area with warm salt water and a personal wash nothin harsh plus when using the bathroom besure you dry the area or just keep a wet one clean it dry it off .the biggest deal is stay dry in shave or wax because hair carries moistness you want to be dry as possible it is not the end of the world there are vitmans to boost immune system think as gh as you would the flu the higher and heathier your immune system is the less outbreaks you have bless day everyone

I've read about Hydrogen Peroxide and it's cures and I am proof of that, as soon as I seen the blisters start to appear I applied the 3 or 6% Peroxide from the chemist at least 3 times a day with cotton ball or Q tip and they never fully appeared as a sore! Doctors wouldn't dare tell you about a 3 dollar solution when they can get so much more money out of you through medications and vitamins. They know oxygen therapy works.. Also putting a drop in your drinking water everyday will oxidize your body and enable the virus to stop you from ever having another breakout.. I suggest searching hydrogen peroxide cures or drinking hydrogen peroxide cures. All the best.

I tried the h2o2 remedy and it worked but I could not stand the taste it left in my mouth.T asted like bleach. So then I bought an ozone generator to ozonate water as it is supposed to have the same effect. I bought one of the better ones as I figured I would be using it a long time. The first couple of weeks I drank 2 liters every morning after running the ozone through it for about 45 min.I was very emotional during this time and my sinuses and ears felt like they were very sensitive. Since then I generally drink the water 2 times a week or so.My main triggers were alcohol.chocolate ,excessive physical exertion. It has been 8 months since an outbreak, when I first started.During this time I have consumed chocolate, gone on a 12 hour drinking spree (wedding),and played sports to the point of dropping.I am not saying I am Cured, but I don't wish to change my lifestyle, and this is a small price to pay to keep this under control.I also haven't gotten sick, even though I have been exposed to many who have. IT also helps with hangovers. The water is easy to drink, just smells like ozone. The model I bought was the airzone xt301. I have no complaints.Hope this helps someone

I don't know if I have herpes, and I won't know until I see my doctor, and they couldn't get me in until the 29 of august. But, as from what I've read it sure does feel like it. I read about the crushing up Tylenol pm to numb it, and I was scared to try it bc I didn't know if it was safe to use such a thing down there, but I just applied it good amount about 5 minutes ago, and it stung just a little bit so I put some ice on it for a second, and now it just feels warm and soothed! Like I said I don't know I'd it's herpes or just a heat rash as I just jumped into to swimming since I'm training for a triathlon. And, I won't know until later this month, but I'm glad I have some relief of the pain that has been going on for about a week now, so hopefully I can make it subside until then. I have been engaged for a year now, and have been faithful, and last year I did not test positive for herpes bc when I called to set my appointment I asked, and the nurse told me no. So, either it wasn't in my system yet, or my fiancée was unfaithful to me. But he has never had an outbreak. I'm praying that when I go see my doctor the results come back negative and it was just a heat rash or chafing or a bacterial infection that got a little out of hand from all the itching as I thought it was just razor burn at first. But, it's been a week now, and none of the pain has stopped. It could be partially bc I am on my period, therefore I am unable to let it dry out, and it hurts too bad to put a tampon in, but with my new found remedy I could possibly start the use of them again and allow it to try out and heal. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for negative results, but if it come back positive I have already found a piece of mind here on this forum just by reading all your posts. Thank you so much, and keep me in your prayers an hope that I can keep this under control and not let it take control of my life.

I noticed what triggers an outbreak with me, and it makes me so happy that an herpes outbreak is possible to avoid. Underneath you read how to avoid an outbreak, not how to treat blisters.

I get an outbreak If I had sex or masturbated a lot, in a time I shaved my pubic hair, and this shaving causing some inflammation. I think fatigue adds to the chances of an outbreak as well.

In other words, your body can counter attack an herpes outbreak, but don't push your immune system too much. Once I feel the tinkling feeling of an outbreak I do the following (this really works):

1. I take 1000 mg L-Lysine tablets, at least an hour before my next meal, and avoid the arginine types of food, like nuts (I normally eat these daily) and I start eating Lysine types of foods, like fish.

2. immediately I soak the infected area with tree tea oil and wrap the area in plastic foil, so the tree tea oil stays at the area. If you wait too long, and this is a matter of minutes (!), the outbreak continues and you get these nasty blisters, and than you are screwed, cause the healing process takes weeks longer.

I also do this, but I am not sure to what extend this work (the above definitely does):
-I take vitamines B, C, Zinc and garlic capsules

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THIS: AS SOON AS YOU FEEL TINGLING, ACT IMMEDIATELY (like in minutes, not hours)

I just really want to thank everyone on this site for sharing your remedies. I have had GH since 2006 and recently I had my first flare up (I recently changed birth control.). I went into a really gloomy mood, but I found this website and it helped me so much to become more positive about GH. So, like I said before THANK YOU!!

Lastly, I have tried the tylanol pm and abreva remedy and peroxide remedy. They didn't eliminate the outbreak, but did subside the pain and stopped the spreading. I really recommend the tylanol for pain.

Please don't hurt yourself with these home remedies. I am reading stories of acid burns and chemical burns. It is not necessary. Please try and following remedies and NONE of them are uncomfortable. It will help you feel better not only physically by relieve some of the stress of your condition. The first remedy is based on a university study were 100% of the participants (all women) were CURED of the herpes strain that cause HPV within 90 days (no sign of the original infection in the blood stream). HPV can be cause by a strain of the virus, were males are usually the host. Can be used by men ans women. Use equally 1 part aloe (soothing and heals cells including cancer), 1 part tea tree oil (anesthetic), and 1 part bee propolis (anesthetic and healing). Use this as a topical solution. Please note this solution is safe inside (internally) the body as long as you are not allergic to the ingredients. It can also be used as a suppository or internally for ulcers located on the mucus membranes by dipping a tampon in the solution. IT IS INSTANTLY SOOTHING and the anestithic makes you feel CLEAN (physically and mentally). Don't use tea tree oil more than 2 a day for more than two weeks internally, your outbreak should be long gone by then.
Bee propolis can also be taken orally just as you would take honey.
A drop of peroxide in water can help as oxygen therapy. Also for those with asthma or other condition which effect oxygen in the body, please keep your asthma under control. This will help allot.
In addition to aloe for pain, Tylenol or Aleve taken orally will help.
Take a multivitamin to keep your immune system and general health at it best.
Please let me know how this easy and safe remedy works. Consult a physician as need.

I believe I got this from an ex boyfriend that I had for 6 months about 7 years ago. This is my 3rd flare up since that time.

This is what Im doing to see if it helps

1-I used a mortar and pestle to crush my pills - Lysine and Tylenol PM
2-Pored a small amount of apple cider vinegar into a bowl and mixed in the crushed pills
3-washed the area with anti bacterial soap
4-used my mixture on the area with a q-tip to clean it
5-let everything dry
6-used campho-phenique in the gel form not the liquid
7-braved a small swig of that apple cider vinegar (YUCK almost made me barf)
8-ate one of the lysine and a vitamin c... both 500mg

the whole process hurts a bit... stings... but immediately my 4 bumps got super white and hard as if they were drying out... they seemed to turn into one large hard lump instead of separate smaller ones

We will see if this works... but already the pain and itching feels better as I type this

This works amazing!
I was deathly sick for about 2 weeks and had my first outbreak. It was terrible. Between the pain and burning I didnt know what to do. I went to barnes and noble and got this at home remedies book for herpes. I tried a few of the remedies but this one worked amazing. Take a hot bath for about 15-20 minutes. When you get out, lightly dab the area dry or if too painful make a paper fan and fan the area dry. Then make a paste. Use baking soda and water. make sure the paste is kind of think. use a q-tip and dot on the paste to the affected areas. what this does is ease the pain, dry out the herpes and helps heal faster. you can do this up to 3 times a day.

I tried many different remedies on here, taking l-lysine, vitamin c, making a lysine paste, ACV, tylenol paste, baths...
I take baths with epson salt, ACV, tea tree oil once a day for ~25 min. I use the Tylenol PM paste technique at night which really helps but during my last OB (which is getting less and less severe) 2 days in i decided to take a chance on the Abbreva, yes i know it's meant for cold sores but anything was worth a shot. I was amazed it completely cleared up in 32 hours after i first applied it, i used it 5 times in 3 hour intervals and then went to sleep and when i woke up i was amazed to see myself almost completely healed.
I am used to extremely bad outbreaks, lasting 10-13 days and spreading to multiple places, then only having about 2 weeks between them. Combining all these remedies cut my OB to a very tiny area and only lasted 3-4 days... i am truly amazed.
I plan on changing up my diet and upping my intake of vitamins and lysine, hopefully over time my OB will become much father apart and less severe.

I have had GH for about a year now. I'm a gay male and it at the top of my butt so I don't know how it will work for the girls. But I have been using Caladryl that is used for Poison Ivy. It had really dried it out and works great for the itching. I have also been doing the Epsom Salt baths and putting baby powder on after the Caladryl dries.

I know someone had said the tylnol pm was hard to use because of the hard coat it has. I just get the bottom of my nail polish push down real hard n it breaks it apart leaving the coat to the side. So for about the last 4 days I've been using the tylnol pm leaving it on over night. The in the morning washing it off with peroxide. The. Soaking in some hot water with peppermint Epsom salt. ( read that peppermint helped gential herpes) n it has dried up. Pretty good. Just have been constant with it. Expect today had to work a long shift. Weird this I's my first break out was every where so was the second break out n this I's my 3 break out in 2 years. N it's in one spot just a dot. Always thought it would break out in more the. One area... Also I wear a tampon just too keep my self dry all day. Moisture irritated its. Keeping my self shaved also helps nothing to bother it. And loose cloths nothing pushing on it. Hope this helps. I've ordered some zinc gluconate powder. Read that it works really good. I'm sure by the time I get it my spot will be gone! But I'f break out again I'll let everyone know I'f it's work 25 bucks!

The outcome has been great and sped up the healing process compared to my last outbreak. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It is relieving to know I am not alone. Living with GH can be depressing and stressful. I contracted the virus from my ex-boyfriend. Needless to say he is my Ex. I came across this website because I was looking for a simple remedy other then meds. I used the Lemon Balm aka Melissa. It coms in a supplement capsule or liquid form. I was my vagina with Dial soap. It is 100% antibacterial, dried it completely and applied the liquid form of lemon balm. It stung for the first 10-15 seconds. I applied two applications using a cotton ball. I do not feel any irritation, burning or itching. I have a outbreak with one sore that hurt badly. Currently I am lying in bed typing, watching T.V and feeling pain free. I'll keep you posted on how well it actually works. I got the Lemon Balm remedy from this website...thanks!

I've had herpes for 4 years now and I suffer from horrible outbreaks! They are so painful that I don't even want to leave my house. The rx is far to expensive so I turned to a generic indian company for meds. They worked great for a while, and then the price went up. Oh well. Anywho, last week I felt a outbreak coming on and I decided to follow the advice of my aunt who is visiting from Brazil. When I first felt that awful tingle, I applied BLACK DRAWING SALVE at night (its very messy and smells), I also took 1- 1000MG OF L-LYSINE and 1-50MG OF ZINC. The next morning, I showered and blow dried the area, applied a small amount of BLACK DRAWING SALVE and took the same supplements. At noon I applied CAMPHO PHENIQUE treatment and took and same supplements. At night I showered and blow dried and applied the CAMPHO and took my supplements. I did this for 3 days and guess what? NO OUTBREAK! NO ITCHING! NO PAIN! NO TEARS! I'M SO HAPPY! Now I'm taking the supplements once daily. I hope this continues to help me. Oh! And the CAMPHO burns like hell, just to let you know. Hopefully soon I will be heading out of the country to receive and treatment to begin to remove the virus from my body all together, but until then, hopefully this will work. Hopefully this will help someone else also.

BLACK DRAWING SALVE (NIGHT OF TINGLE)
L-LYSINE 1000MG (3X DAILY FOR OUTBREAK)
ZINC 50MG (3X DAILY FOR OUTBREAK)

PROPOLIS - It totally works! Just go to whole foods and get the liquids drops. Take them orally as directed and also apply them directly to the sores with a cotton swab. It does sting a bit, because of the alcohol base in the drops but worth the small amount of pain. I had a really bad breakout that lasted over 30 days, nothing was working. As soon as I tried Propolis it cleared up in 3 days!! The bottle of liquid extract cost me $14.00. It is made from Bees so if you are allergic to bee products then this wont be a good idea for you.

Hello fellow sufferers,

I was diagnosed with GH October last year. The ulcers appeared around my perianal area. It was my first outbreak that lasted for at least 4 weeks. My question is to ALL of you & I do hope to get some replies, do you experience pain in the thigh area down to leg especially sole of the leg? I experience that & its always the left leg.

Anyway, thank God I don't have recurrences after my first out break last October. I stick to healthy diet, supplements, & exercise:

Healthy Diet:
Strictly NO COFFEE at all, and I mean it. Not even a sip. Coffee contains high amount of arginine which feeds the herpes virus. I have been abstaining coffee for months, but yesterday just had a few sips and today I already feel the prodromes are coming, so I double my supplements.

2) Strictly no PEANUTS
3) Strictly no Chocolates
4) Strictly no added sugar/sugary stuff

All these are trigger foods

Supplements:

We have to boost our immunity. I take these

1) Multivitamins & minerals 2 times a day
2) B Complex plus Folic Acid, Zinc, Vit. E - 2 times a day
3) Vitamin C 500 mg - 6 times a day
4) Olive Leaf Extract Liquid - 5 ml 3 times a day
5) Beta Glucan - 400 mg Once a day on empty stomach.

I used to take Lysine but during medical check up it shows my urine has a lot of protein deposits from lysine. Apparently lysine supplements (not those naturally occurring in foods) can damage your kidney filtration system. So I stopped taking it.

I try to worry less, trust in God & His providence. I exercise 30 mins a day. Any form of exercise that makes you sweat is good.

So far I never had any recurrences which people say most will get it, except nerve pain in my left leg after I had a few sips of coffee yesterday. So no more coffee for me.

All the best and pls answer my question. TQ

Buy a Juicer*
Juice Ginger Root
Make Ginger Tea= Hot water and pure Ginger Juice form your Jucier.
If you have an Out-break Pour some ginger on the bumps.
Home remedies = New Healthy Diet. Pure fruits and Veggies. Lay off the junk food and fast food. eat healthy and use your juicer to make veggie juice. The pills dont always work when you need them to but you should still take them when you feel an outbreak coming on. and if you need to dubble up on your dose. No more than 800MG/Day. acyclovir cost 12 - 24$ You dont have to take them every day.

After suffering and spending untold $$ I found Apple Cider Vinegar. I bought the Walmart bottle for .98, used it twice a day (applied with a cotton ball) and it is AMAZING!!! Stings a bit at first but I started using it the day I felt a breakout coming on and it halted the progress. Anytime I felt the itch and sting I would reapply the ACV. Cut down the days and severity of my breakout DRAMATICALLY. TRY THIS- you wont regret it!

I am visiting this page for the first time and i am so happy i found it. everyone has been so kind and helpful. i have not officially been diagnosed, with GH, but from the research i've done and pictures i've come across im pretty sure it is what is going on with my body. i'm not sure how to feel, i'm depressed and feel like i'll never find anyone to love me with this embarrassing disease.

i have been sleeping with one person for the past almost 2 years and we are not exclusive, so i'm wondering if it was him who passed it on? i guess now whats important is taking care of myself and not placing blame, because he had no obvious signs so i'm sure if it was him he was not aware.

i just went to the store and got some tylenol pm and herpicin, they were out of abreva so i figure there are similar active ingredients in it. until i can pick up some abreva i will see if this helps.

i only have 2 sores inside my labia, but my anus feels swollen and is itchy and sore. i'm guessing that the sores are down there as well. i have not been able to look.

i am a 28 year old female and feel i have learned a horrible lesson on taking better care of myself. i love all the support everyone here gives each other, and i'll post how my outcome is with the treatment i'm trying.

also are there any support forums that people go to just to chat and connect with each other on? i'm sure facebook does not have a 'living with genital herpes' fan page! haha if they did i'd join under a fake name, because of the stigma attached!!

once again thanks again!

I have had genital herpes for 5 yrs. I've noticed that oatmeal, and high stress levels, alcohol (in high consumption) and aspartame trigger the virus in me. My symptoms are extreme tiredness, sore body, and headaches. As soon as symptoms appear I cant hold my head up as I become very lethargic. Valtrex does not work on me what so ever and acyclovir made me start loosing hair. I took Valtrex for 8 months 500mg 2x a day, and it only made me sick and outbreaks would still happen every two weeks like clockwork. I have been bathing in a tub of warm water with 3 bottles of regular 3% hydrogen peroxide from walmart for 30 min, and it takes care of redness and bumps by NEXT morning. $3 H202 vs. $240 Valtrex, guess which one works? BTW the hydrogen peroxide 3% from Walmart is one of the only ones that do not say stabilized. Hope this helps someone out there.

I contracted the 'curse' from the 2nd guy i was intimate with, I WAS CRUSHED, thought my life was over. Over the past 20yrs i have found that adding a tablespoon of miracle 2 neutralizing water, and 1 tsp food grade hydrogen peroxide to my jug of water each day PREVENTS OUTBREAKS! The miracle 2 cleans the blood, and the hydrogen peroxide kills the virus. Its been over a year for me, and my boyfriend is still curse-free :)

first and foremost i want to say thank you to everyone here, you have all been such a big help to me for emotional support. i have tried every trick on here for physcial healing and none of it has worked but i sure do appreciate the time everyone has taken in sharing and dealing with me. My blood tests finally came back today, tested positive for hsv 1 but negative for hsv 2. Since it was negative for the 2 type my doc will not prescribe me anymore valtrex he says he refusues to for type 1 it shouldnt b that bad, i am currently working on 0y 4th out break since i contracted it just a short time ago. I dont know whats causing it to be so frequent and so horribly bad since its only type 1 anyway but i do know i cant deal with it. Ive done everything even the food grade hydrogen peroxide, i dont feel any better, i have burned bled itched and cried every single day for the last month. Im considering endidng it, noone will want me now anyway, being a big woman i have already gone nearly 3 years without love so that pretty much hammers the nail in that coffin. Before i go i just wanted to say thanks fto everyones, their is such a good support group here. To all the newcomers i hope u had better luck than i did with treatment and i. To everyone everywhere if u ever are in a hospital or medical situation as long as u r coherent inssit that they where gloves, thats how i got this. Thanks again to all.

I stumbled on this website, lookinkg for home remedies for the HSV. I found out I had the antibody that leads to HSV, about 2 weeks ago. I had been having OB for years but did not know what it was. I had never been told by any other DR. That I was infected. My new DR. Explained to me what it was, and how I possibly got it. When she asked me about the OB I lied an told her that I never get them. She then told me that if I did get one, she would call me in something. Well I had an OB and she called me in some VALTREX. I took the first dose and it made me kinda sleepy. I tried some of the remedies on this site, such as cleaning the area with witch hazel. That burned a little bit, but was ok. I get OB on the inner lips of my vaginal area. I found that putting cotton pads on the are keeps it from rubbing your panties. These are the same pads used to clean your face or remove make up. It really helps. I am Still sad about this but am realizing that I am not alone. I told my kids dad and he pissed me off bc he started to laugh and and poke fun. He now since then kinda understand, but not really. This is great site hope this helps someone. Remember you are not alone. ;)

I am so upset and cant stop crying, I was just diagnosed today with herpes after I went to my OB about a couple sores I have on my vagina that hurt. I don't know where it came from and if it wasnt for my husband being so supportive of me, God only knows what my depression would cause me to do. I am 9 months pregnant and only 11 days left until I get induced. I will start my 7 day prescription of acyclover that the Doctor gave me tomorrow but I need a remedy to heal my sores ASAP because if I hit labor any day soon I will get a c section which i want to avoid. I just went to Walmart and bought Lysine vitamins, vitamin C, tea tree oil, and aloe vera gel. I couldnt find a bottle of Melissa/lemon balm but I will go to the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC tomorrow to mix a capsule with aloe gel to use on my sores. Does anyone have any other solutions that are quick and don't burn too much?

Hey, there. I've had GH and OH for about ten years. Since I was 14 and had the misfortune of meeting a rather 'forceful' fellow one day. Anyway, I used to take Valtrex but some of the side-effects were bothering me. Not only that, I noticed it wasn't working like it used to do. I started only taking the pills if I felt an OB coming on. Tingling, achy muscles, feverish, fatigue, and discharge. I noticed that my triggers are mostly hormonal. Like my period.

My OH OB are usually triggered by me accidentally biting the inside of my mouth. Most blisters show up on the inside of my cheek and near the gumline. On the off chance that it's at the edge of my lips or tucked into the corners of my eye, I use Blistex. I'll take some of the chapstick and apply it. Helps a lot!

I'm looking for alternative remedies. Mostly painless remedies. One that hardly and/or don't sting.

I was diagnosed w GH about 3months ago, got it from a boyfriend who turned out not to be so faithful. Anyway, since then I have had a hard time dealing with it and have had many breakouts because of the stress. Everywhere, my private areas, inside my mouth. I don't know what to do to keep them from coming back or relieve the pain besides take the acyclovir when I can afford it. Besides less stress, what are your suggestions.

I found out I have GH almost a year ago during the same time I was having an HPV breakout. I slept with an ex boyfriend ( big mistake) and realized that I had a small cut a week later. I thought maybe I had cut myself shaving but the cut would go away and come back every month. I was finally diagnosed 4 months later. Each outbreak I've gotten since has been worse than the first few. I blame it on stress. I take Beta glucan pills every other day. I also take 1500mg of lysine 3 times a day during an outbreak. I make a white tea and while the water is warm I add Ginger pieces, cloves, and pop open a cayenne pepper pill of 455mg and add it to the tea, I also add a whole lemon (squeeze the juice).I let it sit for a few minutes to get all the benefits in there. I drink it twice a day for all of those ingredients have anti-viral and immune boosting properties. Seems to help. You can also add honey to the tea. I drink this with LOTS of water because the Cayenne pepper is so pungent. I also apply hydrogen peroxide to a blister with a cotton ball for 20 min. After I follow by adding tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a life saver! It heals my cold sores in 2 days and just recently started using it on my GH. Only add a little bit and with a q-tip. I usually do it before I go to bed. In addition to all of this I take a multivitamin and drink lots of vitamin c about 2000% of your daily value. All of this has helped tremendously hope it can help others that are seeking a natural way at coping with this horrible disease! But I always tell myself, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Good luck in finding what works best for you.

The best remedy I have found for GH is to get some epson salt put it in a bowl and add just a touch of water. Then I put that mixture on a bandaid and cover the sore. Within a day the outbreak is almost gone. I hope this helps.

Ugh. As if I'm not already miserable... I'm 8 months pregnant and was just diagnosed. I've never been aware or had reason to think that I had herpes, til now. Guess the stress of pregnancy brought on my first outbreak. Unless I can get this taken care of looks like I'll be having a c-section, which is fine with me if it's what I have to do.

Anyway, besides prescriptions - my Dr. recommended to get pain relief to take an oatmeal/Aveeno (hot) bath. And warned me NOT to use any kind of ointments as they just protect the skin and keep it moist - which is what you don't want to do! I'm trying it tonight... fingers crossed this works. *sigh*

Well, I just have a question or two plus some comments, and not so much a remedy...I am trying several remedies that I saw on here (the epsom salt baths, apple cider vinegar, lysine, vit. D3, Vit. C, Zinc, Abreva, tylenol pm paste, ice packs, bleach, my anti-viral med. acyc., garlic, cinnamon, green tea, white tea, honey, echineca with goldenseal, ginseng, baking soda, cornstarch powder, and mercroclear (sp?)). Anyhow, I was wondering why it is taking me so long to get over this particular outbreak of GH? I also have HPV, which has led to genital warts as well coming out at the same time as this outbreak. Long story short (ha), I guess I waited too long to go get medical help. I thought I was told a long time ago that the body will eventually fight this off, and one will get over the outbreak. So, I waited like 4-6 weeks before getting any treatment. Even when I did, I just for the first 2-3 weeks was just using the anti-viral acyclovir to treat this. It had been a while since I had any kind of outbreak. Must have been two years...that I can think of...so I had forgotten what all to do to clear this up quickly. I know there is something you can do, or take..but I can't quite remember. Anyhow, I started about 3rd week in, after the 4-6 week delay, looking at this site, and others, and started trying a lot of the stuff mentioned here, like I mentioned earlier. Well, in any event, I am doing them all at once..hoping something will be the magical key..so to speak. But, I just wonder why it is taking me so long to get over this. I fear this may go on for months...I hope not..but even just from the time I got medical help..it has been almost 6 weeks..and not fully better yet. I guess my immune system was down, and I was stressed, I have allergies to everything outdoors too (on allergy shots and take allegra), and thought nature would take care of things...but it hasn't or wasn't..so then I decided to get help..and I fear too late. Is there anything that will speed things up, that I haven't tried yet..maybe? I don't know how much more to try, or spend..but..I just want this outbreak at least...to go away. It is too much. Also, I am a smoker of cigs. Is anyone else on here a smoker, and able to get better quickly...?? I am just so sick of this. If anyone knows of anything to do..please let me know. I am thinking of going tomorrow to an herb shop to get more stuff...like maybe the red marine algae...and St. John's Wort..or something...but when is enough, enough? Am I overdoing it...or are others doing like twenty things at once too?? just curious...I also hope I am not doing more harm to myself somehow...and I don't want to end up broke either. 33 yr. old, gay, male, here. Live in Georgia. gastateman30215@yahoo.com. If anyone knows of any suggestions, then please let me know. I am hoping a cure comes along quickly. I will pray for everyone, and hope things get better. At least I know I am not alone in suffering..but this sucks..bottom line. Peace out.

SOLUTION TO PAINFUL URINATION!!
I was just diagnosed with Genital Herpes 1 week before the new year of 2011. Im experiencing my first outbreak and cant stand the pain. When I pee I cry for 30 minutes because it hurts so bad. I tried everything, peeing while in the bath tub, peeing in the shower, dumping warm water over my genitals while peeing, and covering the sores with wash cloths while peeing. I went to the doctor and she gave me the solution. Its going to sound weird but the answer is Crisco. Yes, the butter like stuff in the blue can.Its perfectly safe to put down there, its chemical free, perfume free and water proof. Just cover your sores with a light layer and you can pee with no pain at all. Its amazing! After you are done you just lightly wipe it off. Try it! No pain!

So i didnt have tylenol but i did have motrin and thank god almighty this is the cure.I have to let the world know vinegar baths then apply paste remedy stops the outbreak in its track. the blisters just suddenly fade away without even bursting. the pain is gone instantly. The swelling gone. Who ever came up with this is a genius. bye bye valtrex. oh and of course your diet is also major in preventing the outbreak.

Things to avoid like the plague if you have genital herpes and/or cold sores: nuts (major contributor!) beer, and chocolate, excessive coffee. I know, I can't live without chocolate or coffee but when I indulge I make sure to increase the Lysine- at LEAST 3000mg/day. Warm salt baths help heal the sores by drawing fluid out, I find that too much sun exposure causes breakouts for most people. Sometimes I use regular bee's honey for the sores, depending on where it is,like on the thigh is ok, ladies do not put honey in or on the labia or vagina... it could cause a yeast infection. Honey also aids in chicken pox and I understand herpes, shingles and chicken pox are all related, Why do these terrible ailments exist?!?!!?!? Be well everyone.

I haven't been diagnosed but according to my research so far, i think i have GH since i do have the symptoms and all (fever, genital sores, sore throat). anyway, i started having my first OB last week around sunday and began treating myself around tuesday. here's what i'm doing.

things i use:
1. Apple cider Vinegar
2. Salt
3. Water
4. Tea Tree Oil
5. Acyclovir Cream
6. Panadol
7. Anesthetic Cream
8. Cotton pads and Q-tips
9. L-lysine 1000mg
10. Vitamin - C with Rosehips
11. Laban (Yogurt)

Morning:
I drink ACV with the L-lysine and Vit C first thing in the morning and then wash myself with a vaginal wash and put some tea tree oil. I also drink Laban with my breakfast every morning.

All day:
Reapply tea tree oil (make sure the genitals are clean and dry specially if you have open sores). I also drink around 4g of L-Lysine and Vitamin C. and i drink LOTS OF WATER! I tried drinking orange juice too but apparently it makes your urine too acidic so it really stings. It's better to just drink water and take Vitamin C.

At night:
When I get home from work I would soak myself in warm water with salt and ACV in it. Then, crush 1 500mg of Panadol and mix it with the Acyclovir cream and spread it all over my genitals, making sure i apply the sores, blisters, or anything that is not supposed to be there. After this, I would drink ACV again before i sleep.

(if you have a sore throat also and some infection in your mouth, gargle some water with salt and acv.)

I've been doing this for the past 4 days now and I have seen a dramatic change. specially when i started feeling that there were other blisters growing. i applied the panadol paste on it and they started disappearing in 2 days. the open ones are taking a while to heal but i know that it is healing up because it doesn't sting as much anymore.

I also have an infection around my anus so it's very hard to do a number 2. hahaha what i do with that is, I would take dulcolax every other night before i go to sleep and when it's time for me to do a number 2, i would apply anesthetic cream like 2 mins before it using a Qtip to lessen the pain. the first few days, i was bleeding, but now i'm feeling much better even if my stool is solid now and i'm not taking any laxative. so there, i hope that i get better and thank you for everybody who shares their experiences and remedies here. i have learned a lot. and so i want to share what i'm doing to...hopefully it works for you too! more power to everyone here!:)

I had a very bad case of genital herpes for many years. Through that time I learned how to not only stop having outbreaks but also how to turn having the virus into a positive thing that helped me in many different ways, check out herpessavedmylife.com. Here you will find out how to deal with it from an emotional and a physical perspective. The truth of the matter is that the virus is very much linked to your emotions, hence why you get it on the skin. the skin in general reflects our emotions, hence why most skin conditions have an emotional/stress element. Approaching the virus from both angles helps to stop having outbreaks and to live an awesome life. Check it out.

Take garlic supplements daily to prevent outbreaks. Take with food and they are odourless and garlic is actually great for general health too. Garlic pills can be found at any drugstore, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. You should get LESS outbreaks as garlic is anitviral. My friend recommended it and it does work for me. Hope it works for you!

The Aleve helps with the swelling and if the swelling if relieved tben the pain is relieved. I wish I could find a way to get rid of it all together but thats not going to happen. And I personal don't want to take drugs for it. I do know that theres valtrex for herpes but the side effect don't appeal to me. I may try so of the remedy some of you have posted.

I was diagnosed with genital herpes 6 years ago. My first outbreak was torture. I couldn't walk, go to the bathroom, wear pants or even sleep normal. I don't wish this on anyone. The doctors put me on Valtrex and a topical but before I knew what I had I thought it was a yeast infection and was using Vagisil. This definitely helped the pain!!! It's not the perfect thing to use but I happened to have it and it helped. You can buy this anywhere so it's a lifesaver. I just had an outbreak for the first time in 6 years. I got lucky it took that long but it still sucks! Since I haven't had one is so long, I wasn't prepared but happened to have Vagisil again...so that's helping me for now. But I will try the peroxid or whatever i have in the house until I can get to the doctor or store.

Hello Everyone,
Im so glad a site like this exsists. It really helps me feel like im not alone on this issue. It makes me so sad to hear some of your stories and how much pain some of you go thru. I havent tried any of the remidies yet but hope to soon. My first out break ( about a year and a half ago) was tame comapred to my second out break i had. Valtrex works wonders for me but i am running out of it and no longer have insurance to cover any additional pills. The last six months i have been getting ob after ob. I feel i am lucky tho as usually i do not get to itchy and as long as i dont touch the sores i dont seem to get any pain. Does any body have a remedy that will clear the sores up very quickly ( like 2-3 days)? unfortantly i do not get any pre-warning of an outbreak. i go to bed fine and wake up to usually 2-6 sores.

on a side note i did notice something differnt with my latest outbreak. about 2 days before my sores developed i got what would be best discribed as something that looked like a burn blister with a bright white top. ( i did end up poping them and a white liquid and what appeared to be a chunk of white infection came out. Once i poped it, it just healed back to its regular state and i re poped it. i did this about 3 times before it went away. these never turned into a herpies sore and neither were they located where mu ob occured. has anyone else experienced this? thanks for your time! and i hope everyone is able to find themselves a remedy that works.Stay strong and know your not alone when dealing with this.

I contracted GH when I was 15- the first guy I ever slept with and 2 months later I realized I had one blister. I immediately knew what it was. I'm lucky enough to only have HSV-1. I didn't have another OB for many years but I'm now up to 3-5 times per year and want to stay away from meds. I've tried EVERYTHING. I don't usually get more than one blister but this time I got three.
I can tell you now I have never seen them go away so fast as when I use Acetone on them. This means getting some on a qtip and holding it on your blisters for as long as you can, up to one minute (yes it burns, it feels horrible- but I can tell you that pesky thing will go away in two days.)
Do this as many times as you can in a day until the blisters are gone. after the acetone dries apply the children's NEOSPORIN!! the one with the numbing cream in it will help with your pain if you have any. Hope this helps some.

Guys heres what I have been doing as soon as I see an outbreak (usually a cluster of blisters) right away I tie clorox disinfectant wipes around it and change it out when it drys, that dries them up right away and theres no scab that takes like a week to heal and I take salenium a natural antibiotic bassically that boost your amune system and dramatically reduces the risk of most cancers, it all cost like 3 dollars at walmart.
these things work for me and thats all I do! Try it hope it works for you.

I have been suffering from herpies on the top of my right buttoock for over five years. It has been frustrating and the best relief I have had is; thermal bath / natural spring which sounds equivalent to Epsom salt bath and taking garlic tablets. I wear pure cotton panties to keep the area protected and never use the bath towl on that areaof the body to avoid spreading.

i am going to try the Tylenol tonight. thanks, and stay positive. forgive your self.

I find Epsom salt baths good (2 or 3 handfuls of salt)with a splash of apple cider vinegar, and some tea tree oil. After the bath, dry the area with a hairdryer on cool setting. Then put some ice in a towel and put on the area, as the ice will kill the virus at the surface and prevent it from multiplying and spreading to other areas. You can also dab on some neat tea tree which is anti viral and helps dry out any sore spots and speeds up healing. Ice can also be used at the tingling stage before any sores appear and may even prevent an outbreak from getting worse. (The ice advice was from my doctor). Lemon balm is also supposed to be good, I make tea from the fresh herb(it grows really easily in the garden). Lemon balm is a calming herb also, and a positive frame of mind is important when dealing with this, as stress can trigger outbreaks. Good luck.

Hi I just recently contracted HSV2 and I found out that you can get Acyclovir at wal-mart for 4 bucks its a anti-viral medication that can surpress outbreaks. I take it twice a day and i take lycine 1000mg and vitamins. and i also find that washing with dial anti bacterial soap helps keep the area dry. I haven't had an outbreak since doing this but it is a must that you stick to the regiment . I hope this helps someone because when i first found out i had it i felt so alone... like no one will ever want me because of this virus i carry but i tell myself that i am me not a virus... and it helps if you have any questions feel free to email me @ hopenheart12@gmail

So I stumbled upon this page after looking for some home remedies to help the pain of my blisters.

Here's my story...2 weeks before my 19th birthday, I woke up with a massive headache. So bad that I could not even open my eyes! Later that day I noticed a bump that I thought was an ingrown hair. Turns out I had all the symptoms for herpes. I made an appt for the next day to see the doctor. I was so nervous/scared/upset....so many emotions! How could this be happening to me. It took a week to get the test results back, but in the meantime my doc prescribed Valtrex to take twice a day for 14 days. She said it would take about 3-4 weeks to clear up. A week later, I got the results back and I was devistated...I didn't know what to think. At the time I had a boyfriend, but we had only been dating for a month. I felt like my life was over..I mean seriously I'm only 19, how is this possible..what did I do to deserve this? About a month later, I became ill with Mono. I had my blood tested, and turns out I had gotten herpes from oral sex from a cold sore on my boyfriends lip..blah blah... I've had about 3 outbreaks in the 2 1/2 that i've had the virus! I do not take my Valtrex unless I start to have an outbreak. I read all these forums about people being able to feel an outbreak coming on, but I never have felt that before. I don't get sick like I did the first time, and it's usually just a couple bumps. I don't know if I lucked out or what...I know God has healed me because it could have been a lot worse than it is.

When I do have an outbreak, I make sure the area is nice and clean and dry. Then I use witch hazel to clean around 'down there' I then put alcohol and a qtip and dab the sores. I've tried baking soda...it burns a lot, but works very well. After reading other ppls remedies, I tried tea tree oil, so we will see how that helps for me! Thanks for this website, its nice to have things in common with ppl, even if it is herpes. I've realized talking about it helps a bunch!

I have just had an outbreak and found that bathing the area with TCP (diluted or neat) worked really well. It stings, but numbs the area and is a great disinfectant.

I just found out that I have gh, HSV- 1 and 2. Its been very painful, uncomfortable and depressing. Luckily I have an amazing partner to have my back emotionally and I have made a remedy of my own to help with the physical pain. I've been using 100% aloe vera gel and 100% pure honey ( which is a natural antiseptic). I mix equal parts of honey and aloe gel and apply as needed. It burns intensely for about thirty seconds, but afterward it is soothing and for me provides all day relief from that terrible itching. My love and thoughts go out to all of you out there going through this same thing....

I was diagnosed a Lil over a yr ago and have had 3-4 ob since than and was just taking acyclovir twice a day during an ob and keeping it clean and dry. I started feeling symptoms a few days ago an decided to try a home remedy. I cleaned the area with antibacterial soap an warm water and made a paste I used baking soda and apple cider vinegar but it burnt bad with no relief I added some biooil a tiny bit of glycerin and some crushed tylenol as well as cocunut oil cleaned again and applied the new mixture with a cotton swab and put a pad on I've been washing and reapplying and changing the pad every couple hours and haven't fully had an ob yet!!! It did burn a Lil but it was tolerable and so far has helped fully!!! I've also been taking the acyclovir but normally I still suffer a full ob for a few days so glad this prevented it all together!!!!

I have had genital herpes since I was 25. I am now 65. I have prevented outbreaks by eating lots of protein, kind of like the Atkins diet, so you lose weight too. I also take The amino acid, Lysine, regularly 1,000 mg a day and more when I feel a tingle. I have found that B vitamins in any form can trigger an attack. When I get a sore, I douche with water and apple cider vinegar, the natural kind. And that soothes it quite a bit and heals it. I am looking now for a lysine cream to apply directly to the sores. I think that should help.

So I'm not really sure if this is what I have or not. For the past few days I have been having sorness (stinging/burning) At first it was razor burn or a cut because I had Just shaved. Or maybe a UTI. But when I took a look at what was going on, I think I can see a blister or something. I'm really not sure, and at this point I just really don;t know what to do. I have never had cold sores before, and I have only ever been with one guy (My fiancé) but he says he doesnt get them either. I'm just very confused about this whole thing and not sure who to turn to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Girl with gh epsom salt and peroxide in the water while u shower dry realy well put a tampon on and then also that sheet cotton in between the lips.that they sell in rolls. It cost me like 9 dollars for a big ass roll. Guys also soak n dry well. Hold ur skin bak n wrap the cotton around n let ur skin go already. Girls guys keep it dry change often. N girls after break outs always keep wipes in ur purse n a lil wash cloth to dry don't use toilet paper in the front. N guys wen u pee n shake it off stop shaking n dry with paper or wash cloth keep it dry. Trust me if u keep doing this ur gonna be ok less break outs.

1. Stay away from the higher arginine foods-though I eat a lot of wheat, wheat germ, wheat bread- I don't eat chocolate much. I eat a lot of chic, fish little beef.
2. Plenty of veggies, fruits
3. Multi-vit/min
4. When sensing an outbreak 3-4 grams of Lysine/day
5. Here's the clincher and I have not found it on the net-DRINK 2-8 OZ GLASSES OF RAW MILK/DAY AS A REGULAR PART OF YOUR DIET. Can be tough to find-NH no problem-loaded w/lysine naturally.Raw milk is one of a very few whole foods and really good for you including the fat. Look it up on the net and you will see. Been drinking it for a little over a yr.
And add occasionally, WHEY PROTEIN TO IT.Optimaa Nutrition brand is the best and most pure as an isolate. Loaded with lysine and other good stuff like the raw milk for immune system.
6. This is a big one: friction avoid as much as possible-masterbation out of the question, it will bring outbreaks from the friction.
7. Avoid extreme stress

A easy way to keep the area dry is with a blowdyer. You don't have to go through the pain of wiping. Also I've been reading that black tea bags helps and apple cider vinegar. Keep dry. For mouth- ice the area at first keep vasiline or capstick on at all times or keep dry. Also drink cold milk at first sign of outbreak. and blow dry I did all of this and avoided a outbreak.

i am having my very first BO of GH. Im not sure how i came in contact with this because its been almost 2 years since ive had ANY type of sexual contact. However due to an meregency surgery i did have to spend some time in a very unclean hospital about 10 weeks ago and im wondering if i didnt somehow get infected there?? I know the percentile for that is low but because i know i havent been intimate with anyone and i know this is for sure my very first outbreak it seems likely it had to happen there somehow. Anyway, i found the peroside to very helpful, im using it every few hours. I bought the abreva since it seems to be the key ingrdient in the mixture ive heard about and have just been applying that after the peroxide air dries and it is working great the bumps have signifigantly gone done and no itching or pain. However, what im haaving the most troublw with is stomach upset. I have been very nasuea an dhad a lot of vomitting. I am always careful about what ieat because i am a diabetic and i added the lysn vitamins to o. But i am still getting very sick and had a lot of dizzyness the ltoo. Does anyone know what i can do to help my stomach an?? Thanks for the great advice on here its so wonderful! Great support!
