I can't believe no one has mentioned my all time favorite diaper rash cure...BREAST MILK!!! It's free, has natural antibodies, and works like a charm.

My first child (I have 4 now) had a horrific diaper rash that would not go away. I tried letting her go diaperless, about 10 over the counter medicines, Maalox, browned flour, cornstarch, and even a couple of prescriptions and nothing worked. One or two may have relieved the symptoms momentarily but the rash always came back.

A friend suggested putting breast milk on it. I did right before bed and the next morning it was a whole new butt back there. It is my go to cure now. It works with pumped, frozen/defrosted and 'fresh out the faucet' milk (although hubby says it's weird to watch me squirt it directly on their butts). Whatever it works! Just pour or squirt it on, let air dry for a minute and put on diaper. Can't hurt to try it.

Badger Baby Balm

When my son gets a diaper rash (its usually from some type of food he's digested/poopy diaper). We use Badger Baby Balm.

I stay on top of the dirty diapers as he has sensitive skin and some food allergies that show up in his diaper. The 'normal' routine is Creamy Desitin after a clean and dried bottom and then the diaper.

With a rash anything containing Zinc? seems to burn as he screems until we take it off. I found this product called Badgers Baby Balm (100% natural) and the first ingredient on the list is Olive Oil. It goes on supper easy and works great! I haven't been able to find anything else that doesn't burn when we put it on.

My son began getting diarrhea (pediatrician said it was teething) and very soon after his butt started getting red. At the first site of redness I started putting Boudreaux's Butt Paste and Aveeno Diaper Cream (worked great on my daughter) on him. But the diaper rash kept getting worse. Within days he had open sores on his bottom and was bleeding. We cut out wipes, used only warm washcloths and I tried every named brand diaper cream on the market; nothing worked. I visited every website I could find with home remedies and tried them; nothing worked. The pediatrician gave us Nystatin cream for what we thought was a yeast. It made it worse. They told me to mix Desitin, Nystatin and Maalox together, that didn't work either. I let him air his butt out everyday and once all night. Mild improvement, but not cured. 2 weeks into this, my poor son would scream with every diaper change. It broke my heart! Then a friend suggested Bag Balm. I had no idea what this was, but it is what farmers put on their cow's udders when they are chapped. You should be able to find it anywhere they have supplies for animals. Within 12 hours I noticed a vast improvement and within 24 hours his butt was only mildly pink. What a huge difference! Now he will be getting this on his butt even if he doesn't have a rash. If you are like me and feel like you have tried every remedy out there and nothing has worked, try Bag Balm!

Bag Balm

My daughter got her first diaper rash at 4 mos. We were using Boudreaux's Natural Butt Paste and are STILL happy with it. However, to get rid of the diaper rash we used BAG BALM. For two days we washed her bottom off with a warm wash clothes at every diaper change and used ONLY the BAG BALM. It COMPLETELY cleared up. We returned to using Beaudreaux's once it was gone and it hasn't come back.

The stuff is awesome! I bought it for around $8 at CVS. It comes in a cute green old fashioned tin with tiny red roses on it. It's original use was for chapped cow's utters but obviously it works wonders on diaper rash amongst other things.

TRY THE 'BAG BALM'...IT WORKS!

For Diaper Rash, wash babies bottom with cool water, let dry. Then with a clean cotton ball drenched in whole milk apply onto baby's bottom and let air dry. Repeat process 2 to 3 times before putting a diaper back on. Rash should disapear overnight, or the next. Works great for teething diapers too. Also, add a little cornstarch to milk dried bottom before putting on the diaper this will help protect skin from urine and bowel movements.

The absolute best remedy we have found for severe diaper rash was created by pediatricians from our state university.

Mix the following:
1/2 tube of desitin
1/2 tube of A & D ointment
1/2 tube of bactracin
1/2 tube of lotrimin
Maalox (not too much to make it runny)

Apply plentiful at each diaper change. I have seen it heal open sores overnight. I have used it for boils and infected sores also. It pulls the infection out quickly and removes the head from boils in less than an hour.

For a diaper rash that is raw from antibiotics or diahrea and everything else fails try this. My son had heart surgery and then got bacterial meninigitis so on came the massive antibiotics. He had the worse diaper rash I had ever seen! NOTHING worked that the doctors suggested until a nurse at an ER we had to visit seen his rear and suggested using Neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment). Until this time we had tried litterally dozens of creams and powders over 3 weeks. The Neosporin cleared it up overnight!!!!

I swear by Herbal Ed's Salve - you can get it at Central Market, Whole Foods, or probably any health food/herbal store - you can ask for it by name usually. It is a little pricey, but, a little goes a LONG way - it cured my daughters rash after one diaper change!! Now, whenever I even see a hint of redness I use it and it's gone immediately by the next change. I also use Burt's Bees Diaper ointment on a regualar basis - again, Burt's is pricey, but, you don't have to use much at all, it coats really well.

This may sound odd but my son (now 10) was severely allergic to his own bowel movements to the point he would bleed and the area was just so raw. I cried everytime I saw it on his little bottom and everytime he urinated, it stung him like opening crusted sores and pouring alcohol over the area, or so I would imagine). Stupid me kept on using commercial baby wipes (no matter how 'gentle' they said they were, and that poor baby & I both suffered while he screamed murder in store bathrooms, at home, anywhere he had a bowel movement. I could not get the diaper off him fast enough as soon as I saw or smelled the movement, no matter where we were and I'm sure all you mothers know from which I speak). Anyway, I began carrying my own softest washcloths soaked in hot water in ziploc bags (don't worry, by the time the baby has a movement, the towel will have cooled. Do not add anything else to the water. Miracle of miracles after trying literally EVERYTHING on the market I could find, a co-worker of my husband's told me about a ointment/cream that so far I had only seen @ May's Drugstore made by Mentholatum, which of course made me cringe to put this on his bottom. But, trust me please, it is an ointment based calamine-like product that is sold in small jars (white with blue lettering) usually on the top shelf. [Editor's Note: This ointment is called RESINOL] Oh God, it saved his painful bottom and my sanity. Tip: It is also very relieving for adults who have had a particularly bad case of diarrhea where their anal area is very sore. It relieves the pain and stays put!!

To get rid of diaper rash, gently wash the bottom with plain water and then blow dry the bottom with a hair dryer set on LOW every single time the diaper is changed. This usually clears it in a day or two - even the really bad rash that bleeds.

This ALWAYS worked for my 4 kids and the ones I babysat. Just make SURE that you don't get too close with the hair dryer! Keep it on LOW and constantly moving and just long enough to dry the skin, which should only take about 30 seconds.

I know it sounds crazy but it really works. I was actually told this by my dughters pediatrician. For severe diaper rash after you clean their bottom with a warm washrag (No Wipes they contain alcohol) put some Malox (the liquid kind) all over the sores. It will coat their bottom and it is for reducing acid in your stomach and diaper rash is usually caused by acid in their stools. Also be sure to change the baby often (even more than you think they need it) to help clear it up!! Good Luck!

This treatment has worked for all three of my boys when they have had non-yeast infection diaper rash. ( if after several treatments a diaper rash returns, never completely cleared up or starts after a round of meds. have your doctor check. It could be caused by yeast which needs to treated differently)
Treatment:At every diaper change use clean warm water and wash towels or cotton pads to wash baby's bottom. PAT dry never rub as this can be very uncomfortable. Make sure to get in all the 'rolls' of your baby's legs. Apply a thin layer of Vitamin E oil ( from a health food store or pop open a few of the capsul forms ment for taking orally) again by patting not rubbing. As this product makes a barrier between the skin and outside moisture it will help lower discomfort when your baby urinates or has a B.M. Next at bath times elimate all washes and bubble bath since most have chemicals that can be very irriating to the skin. Instead make an oatmeal /chamomile bath. Add one to two chamomile tea bags to warm running bath water. ( never hot) Next cut a square of cheese cloth ( can be found at most grocery stores near canning supplies. really cheap and will last forever.) and fill it with a handful of Quick Cooking Rolled Oats. Tie the cheese cloth up to make a little bag, then add it to the bath as well. After a few mins you will notice a white-ish milk coming from the oatmeal. This is referred to as Oatmilk and is wonderful for the skin! Allow your baby to soak for several mins, giving the tea bags and oatmeal bag a squeeze every now and then to get more out of them. You can even run the oatmeal bag over your babies skin to soften all of them. After bath dry your baby by Patting ONLY follow with above diaper instruction and make sure to moisturize all your babies skin as well. This has worked wonders for my kids. ( all of whom have sensitive skin) You can use the bath for all the time if you like since it is great for all skin not just rashes , is really cheap to make your own , and will moisturize your babies delicate skin without dangerous chemicals! A nice plus. You can use the the bath like a sitz bath to if your little one is really uncomforable a few times a day by just putting enough warm water to cover baby's little tush until rash clears.( never re-use tea or oatmeal bags) If the vit-E is not enough esp. in the first few days of a bad rash I would recommend Bag Balm or California Baby Calendula cream. NEVER use corn starch as it can actually cause yeast to grow. Of couase change your baby often, and if you can, allow them to wear a cotton diaper without a cover. ( I know this makes for a lot of laundry but it really makes a difference by allowing air to move more effectivly around the diaper area.) Also a quick note. It you are using cloth I recommend using 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle to remove all soap build up in the diapers as this can be a cause of the rash in the first place. Direct sun drying is also recommended whenever possible.( I use both and have found that switching between cloth for day and throw away at night can really help too.)If you are up to going to a health food store you can also grap calendula flowers ( either loose or in tea bag from) which have been shown to reduce the reddness of the skin and heal minor cuts / rashes similarly to chamomile.( both reduce inflammtion as well.) There are even a few product on the market for babies with this already in there. ( California Baby is one I really like.) Good luck to you and your little one.

My daughter gets horrible diaper rashes during warm seasons. A&D is the only thing that works. She just had a yeast infection and my doctor told me to use Lamocil (antifungal cream usually used for Athlete's Foot)twice a day, and on top of that A&D. I used A&D at every diaper change. It cured it in two days.

In regard to using cornstarch for baby powder: yes, that does work, but the caution is that it should not be used when there is already a rash present. If the rash is caused by an organism, such as a fungus, the cornstarch provides an ideal culture, and cause the organism to multiply. Some commercial baby powders have cornstarch in them, so read the labels.

I dont know if any one else said this but baking soda is a life saver in my house. My daughter is very prone to ear infections so of course from the antibodics she is prone to diaper rashes/yeast infections. My cousin told me about the baking soda and well it works. I have a two year old son also who loves to help mommy with his sister and the first time i tried the baking soda bath he ended up dumping have of the box in the tub instead of the 2 tbsp and my daughter's rash was gone the next day. So the more baking soda in the bath the better just from my experciane anyway.

The solid crisco oil. While in the Army in Panama, our son was born there, the Panaman doctor told me to always use that. It is very cheap, full of minerals, goes on very easy.

I used it on all my kids. Never even a slightly red bottom....

Here is a chemical-free cure!!!! My baby had constant diaper rash and I tried all the ointments to no avail. One day, she was sitting in her little chair watching me dry my hair with the blow dryer. She was fussing as usual so I blew some warm air at her and she smiled (something she hardly ever did). I soon learned that a few seconds of warm air on her tush was not only comforting to her, there was a definite reduction in the rash at the next diaper change. Not one to argue with a miracle, I tried it again. Within just a few days, she was completely cured. My procedure: I would simply use plain water and cloth to wash her, then use the dryer to blow some warm air on her tush for a few seconds before putting on the new diaper. She loved the ritual. The warm air from my blow dryer was my permanent cure for diaper rash. I never experienced even one case of diaper rash with her again nor did I have even one case of it with my next two little girls.

my daughter had a horrible diaper rash. it just seemed like she woke up one day with open sores on her bottom.

make sure that you haven't changed your brand of diapers, the rash could be an allergic reaction.

when they go to the bathroom there are acids that burn and inflame the rash even more so be sure to get the diaper off quickly. rinse them off in the shower or use a warm wash rag-baby wipes have anti-freeze in them that burns as well. when they are nice and clean apply the equate brand of a+d ointment thickly-about the size of a cherry tomato should do, add more if you need it. it comes in a tube and is no more than $2 located at all wal-marts.

it took me about a month to figure out the best remedy. the next best thing would be destin original nightime formula. avoid juices that have lots of acid, and feeding them yogurt while they have the rash doesn't hurt.

after doing this, her rash went away in about 3 days... completely, redness and all. now to help avoid rashes i use pure cornstarch baby powder and change, change, change!!!

Equal parts of;
Aquaphor
Maalox Advanced (Mint liquid-soothes and cools bottoms)

Works like a charm!

This may sound weird but the ointment is called Corona. Its for cuts, sores, chapping. scrapes, dry skin, and sunburns, but works great on diaper rash! I got mine at a horse feed and hardware store. You can also get it at walmart. Just a small amount will help instantly. Its a lanolin-based protection. And of course baby powder and desitin work great too.

no diaper, short bath, and wash really well with anti bacterial soap, pat dry.
no diaper is the best cure.If you can, find a small pair of training pants to protect the area from rubbing against carpet or anything else and prevent infection. apply no creams, lotions, ointments. If an ointment is necessary I recommend aquaphor (little expensive $5-$8), if a cream is necessary I recommend store brand with zinc oxide (I only say store brand because it is always cheaper).

COCONUT OIL! I know it sounds crazy, but this stuff works better than prescription diaper rash cream. My daughter had a GI bug that left her little butt red and raw with bleeding sores. It was TERRIBLE. We already use coconut oil for other things - like ear infections and skin burns - so I decided to just give it a whirl on her butt after nothing else was working. I even tried a few of the remedies on this site. You can get coconut oil at the health food store or at some grocery stores. Just wipe up the rear end with some water soaked paper towels or TP, then let it dry, blow on it or blow dry it, then just slather the coconut oil on there. It was the only thing that didn't make her squirm in pain while applying, too! It cleared up her BLEEDING BLISTERED diaper rash in just three or four diaper changes. AMAZING! And NATURAL!

My little girl got a diaper rash yesterday that was to blisters in some areas. A friend of mine told me about tea baths. She has 4 children and swears by it.
All you do is run a warm bath and through tea bags in the water. You need it to be strong so I used around 12 regular tea bags. You have them sit and play in the tea as long as they'll stay or until the water starts to cool. I was able to get mine to stay 20 min.
I then put triple antibiotic ointment on her privates and powder on top of that.
We did this around 9:30pm and by 4:30am it was completely cleared.

Anyways, this is what helped: APPLY THIS TO INFECTED AREA (external)... equal parts of PEPTO BISMOL, CORTAID, and TRIPLE PASTE. If you can spring for a doctor's visit, add NYSTATIN USP 100,000 units per gram too! Honestly, it went away in a couple of days!! Also my mom recommended Luke Warm Baking Soda Baths, so we did that every night as well!

When I went back to work and she went to daycare, I pulled out all the medicines to show 'Granny' what all I was putting on her pore little read, raw bottom. Granny told me by the time I get back from work the diaper rash would be gone. By the time I got off of work, I couldn't wait to see if it was gone. IT WAS. Ihad some left over from when i was breastfeeding. it occured to me that it healed mevery quickly so it might work on him too. it sticks and stays put well. the easist way to apply it is to warm the bottle in your hand or in hot water to make it melt a little and easier to spread.

Unfortanatly I can't find corona were I live. Corona is a salve used on cow utters when they get sore and it works miracles on diaper rash.

We forgo wipes when our daughter has a rash and use a damp washcloth to clean and a dry one to blot dry. The thing that works best for us is the lanolin ointment designed for moms to use for sore nipples from breastfeeding. I used Medela and I know there are other brands too. I apply the lanolin to the irritated skin and then I apply Boudreaux's Butt Paste(zinc ointment) to create a stronger moisture barrier. The Butt Paste alone wasn't enough, I needed something to heal as well as protect and this seems to be the trick!

I put a tablespoon of white vinegar into about 2 cups of warm water. Dip a rag into the water, squeeze it out, and dab it onto the diaper area. I usually do this after each diaper change. The only warning is if the diaper rash is bleeding or there is sores DO NOT use it will burn the child.

My daughter is 14 months and she had a bad diaper that wouldn't go away I took her to the doctor and he told me just to let it air dry before I put her diaper back on but that didn't work. So I looked up how to get rid of diaper rash and this is what helped me and worked in 2 days. Wash the area with mild soap and water. let that air dry. then put on Lotrimin Anti-fungal cream (it doesn't burn your baby bottom) let that set in for a minute then put on A & D Zinc Oxide Cream/Diaper Rash cream (also doesn't burn your baby's bottom) on top then put on the diaper do that every time you change your baby's diaper and quickly the diaper rash will go away.

VINEGAR AND A&D OINTMENT Guaranteed to work!!! My son at age 2 months had severe diaper rash to the point he was actually bleeding. My doctor told me to use vinegar, and I thought he was crazy that it would burn his bottom. But I tried every cream out there and nothing worked but this. Here's what you do: Run a sink full of water, add 2 or 3 capfuls of vinegar (little more for a large sink). Then dip babys bottom in water and splash it up on his bottom. Next lay baby on his tummy and use a blow dryer to dry his bottom (hold dryer far away and careful not to burn his skin). Last step is coat the area with A&D ointment. If you do this about 3 to 4 times a day it will be completely gone by the next day. Also do not use baby wipes! No matter what brand or type these burn and hurt a baby with severe rash. I cut up a receiving blanket and used those as wipes while he had his rash. Another tip...vinegar takes the heat out of a sunburn and you wont peel :) Hope everybody uses this tip to help their little ones because it works wonders :)

Mix 3 TBSP of cornstarch with the contents of 1 chamomile tea bag. The cornstarch helps keep the skin dry and the chamomile helps to reduce redness and inflammation. Use at every diaper change you should see results within a couple hours. It's the only remedy that has worked for my kids.

Paper towels or cotton balls to fix diaper rash due to diarrhea or other skin irritation (won't work for yeast or staph infection). Avoid using diaper wipes. Use paper towels or a cotton ball soaked in plain water to clean baby's bottom. Apply vaseline to protect skin and voila the rash is gone. (Don't use the other creams because they irritate the skin and make baby feel worse) My daughter had diarrhea for a week and I was able to avoid diaper rash using this method passed down from grandma. When the rash is cleared and diarrhea gone switch back to your regular wipes.

I used fresh aloe, straight from the plant, all over and allowed to dry. Then I put on cocoa butter, left over from my pregnancy. Then last I put a dusting of plain cornstarch in his diaper before I put him to bed that night. The next morning it was a million times better, I was about to take him to the doctors before, but this worked!

I STARTED OUT USING A TABLESPOON OF EACH AND JUST MIXED UNTIL WELL BLENDED. UNUSED PORTION CAN BE STORED IN PLASTIC CONTAINER FOR LATER USE. APPLY TO AFFECTED AREA. GOOD LUCK!

LANSINOH CREAM!
I read on here that someone had used it and it worked, and I still had some from when I was breastfeeding.. so that night I gave my 3month old a bath, dried her bum then applied the LANSINOH cream heavily to her blistering, inflammed diaper rash. Within 24 hours it was completely gone! I have been able to just use baby powder now, and if I notice a rash coming on I just apply it and VOLA, its gone!

My daughter had the nastiest diaper rash, very red, very raw, I tried everything, cornstartch, baby powder, letting her run around naked, desatin, and even went to the doc for nystatin ointment, that didn't even work. So my mother told me about my horrid diaper rashes when I was younger, so I tried 100% petrolium jelly and that started clearing it up in just 2 diaper changes. Works wonders!

The easiest and most available cure is to separate an egg and after normal change and cleansing coat the babies 'parts' in the white of the egg. Allow to dry in the air of the room then fasten on new nappy (diaper)
Clears a bed nappy rash in less then 36 hours every time - and I have 4 daughters that can testify that this works !!

I THOUGHT MY SONS DIAPER RASH WOULD NEVER GO ANYWAY. IT BECAME REDDER AND MORE IRRITATED TO THE POINT THAT IT HAD TURNED INTO RAW SKIN. AFTER CRYING OVER THE SITUATION ANS TRYING EVERYTHING ON THE SHELF TO TREAT THE DIAPER RASH THIS REMEDY IS WHAT CLEARED IT UP. FIRST ONLY USE WARM WATER AND COTTON BALLS TO CLEAN THE AREA. LEAVE THE DIAPER OFF FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES THEN PUT SOME WATKINS PETRO-CARBO SALVE ON THE IRRITATED AREA (THIS SALVE IS KNOWN TO DRY UP ANY KIND OF RASH)THEN INSTEAD OF USING JOHNSONS BABY POWDER USE PURE CORNSTARCH UNTIL IT IS HEALED AND THEN USE BABY GOLD BOND POWDER TO SPRINKLE IN THE DIAPER AFTER EVERY CHANGE. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WORKS FOR EVERY BABY BUT I PROMISE YOU THAT THIS IS WHAT DID THE TRICK FOR MINE. I SAW INSTANT RESULTS.

Im a Live in Nanny and recently we have started using nothing but cloth diapers on the infants again. Even though I change both children very frequently ( this could have been why the mother decided to go back to cloth diapers : ) ) the oldest has gotten a horrible diaper rash. The poor thing screams everytime we change him. Today I started using neosporin as a last effort before I was going to just ask the mother to take him to the doctors and its working GREAT! thank goodness for this site.

First of all I'd just like to thank everyone for their remedies. My 6 months old daughter had her first really bad diaper rash this week. I gave her a bath ever night of oatmeal and camomile tea. About a cup of oatmeal and one tea bag of camomile. I never made a cheesecloth bag for the oatmeal and I actually ripped open the tea bag and let then soak in a warm bath for about 5-10 minutes. When my daughter was in the bath I'd squeeze the oatmeal to get the parking out. For diapers i'd not use wipes, instead I'd used warm water and a cloth to clean her bum. I'd then used Medela on the rash and then I'd put penaten over her whole bum and used a regular diaper. Her rash was really bad when I'd found these remedies and after 2-3 days of doing the above her rash is completely gone! Thank you again for all the help :)

first wash your babys bottom with warm water and pat down her/his butt and let the bottom area breath freely for 10-15min. after each change, my daughter had a very raw bottom yesterday and i tried everything from desitin to butt paste.....i took her to the ER yesterday and they wrote a perscription for hydrocortizone 2.5%. I swear by it as last night her butt was as red as a tomato, and about as raw as it gets before the bleeding process. This morning her butt is back to normal and all it took was less the 24hrs!!!! Love it....p.s. Hydrocortizone could be used for a face breakout or rash as well per Dr.

My son has very sensitive skin, so every time he has loose stool or diarrhea he gets a diaper rash. I use oatmeal and alot baking soda in the bath. Then follow up with bag balm, athletes foot cream, hydrocortisone ointment, & bacitracin. Also I try to keep a cloth diaper on him. It begins to clear up after one night of the whole regimin. During his stomach upsets I stay away from anything acidic, including juice, fruit & veggies. Culturelle is a great way to get the digestive system normal. I usually brake open a pill & dump the powder in his bottle.

This is what I use to treat diaper rash:

1. PAPER TOWELS (select-your-size) used as wipes. I moisten them in
2. WATER (about 1 cup) that has been mixed with one small drop of BABY SHAMPOO, a PINCH of BAKING SODA and a pinch of SALT (salt is not bad in small doses, saline solution is used for the healing of skin wounds). Sometimes I add a small squirt of HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (First Aid Antiseptic).
3. JOHNSON'S BABY LOTION or EUCERIN DAILY REPLENISHING LOTION
4. BAG BALM
I do an initial wiping with the paper towel halves moistened in the mild antiseptic water.
I do a second wiping with the baby lotion or the Eucerin lotion. I spread it all over and then wipe it off with dry paper towels.
I let the skin air for about 10-20 minutes and then I spread the Bag Balm all over the affected area, just before fitting the new clean diaper.
I have seen it work really well, the skin heals very fast, within a day or two.

Nothing was working on my daughter. I tried every creme I could think of and the tea baths people raved over. Then finally at a party I met a woman who told me about a German creme called Penaten Creme. This creme is simply amazing! One full day and the rash is almost completely gone. Thank God! It is hard to come by since it is a German remedy. But very much so worth the search!

Silvadene ointment is the best cure for diaper rash. It is a cream usually used for burn victims and you will need a prescription from a doctor for it. It is a miracle for diaper rash! Clears the rash overnight! Second to that is Panaten cream. German over the counter remedy.
My daughter had some very bad food intolerances as a baby and some foods, like tropical fruits, would turn her bottom blistering red. The sign of such intolerance was a red ring around the anus like a target symbol. Eventually I found out from her gastointestinal doc that a dose of benedryl would help to stop the reaction internally instead of suffering through days of burning poops.

My 14 month old son had diarreha for more than a week, his poor bum was so sore, we tried everything. I didn't use wipes, I would rinse him bum off with warm water in the tub, then pour room temperature green tea over his bottom and little boy parts, tried soaking him with 'Domeboro' (a soak used for poison ivy/oak etc) and every diaper rash cream under the sun, but nothing seemed to help. Finally I tried giving him a bath with Aveeno oatmeal bath and baking soda then after his bum was dry I put a thin layer of hydrocortisone, a layer of desitin, and a thick layer of bag balm on top. By his next diaper change his bottom looked so much better!

My first daughter, when she was a baby had gotten a yeast rash..you need anti-fungal cream to get rid of that nonsense.

My 2nd daughter..believe it or not, would get a rash from being wiped during every change. That took me awhile to figure out. I just stopped wiping her after going pee and used wipes only after bowel movements. She never had rashes like that again after that.

Recently my niece has had a diaper rash that would NOT go away. So after trying a little this and a little of that I used them all :P I mixed vaseline, anti-fungal cream together then baby powder on the bottom AND in the diaper. Gone in 2 days after she had had that persistant rash for months. I also discovered you can use triple antibiotic ointment instead of vaseline to help clear it up even better.

To relieve and prevent diaper rash, bathe your baby in infusions of German camomile or bur marigold. This is a Russian remedy that has been used for centuries on cloth-diapered babies, who are particularly susceptible to diaper rash.

To prepare the bath, steep approximately 2 tablespoons of dried flowers in 1 cup of hot water for about 15 minutes, then add to bath. For practical reasons, I wash my baby with soap and shampoo first, with water running through his infant tub, then add the infusion to the bathtub, plug it, and let him soak for about 10 minutes. Keep the room well heated to prevent the standing water from cooling too quickly.

My daughter had the worst diaper rash last Christmas. She cried everytime we have to lay her down for a change. I tried all the over the counter cream but nothing worked. It is very frustrating, as I literally cried with her everytime when I had to change her. Her bottom is all red and bloody! One of the moms at the playgroup suggested to me 'Dr. Lee's diaper cream' and I tried it on for one time, and it was like MAGIC!!!! I couldn't be happier and no more tears or rash. I think Dr. Lee's Diaper Cream was formulated first as a home remedy by some mom as well. Anyway, I would highly recommend anyone who suffers a severe rash. This thing rocks!! My daughter had an awful diaper rash due to switching detergent for her diapers and her being allergic to it. Nothing we tried worked and then my grandma brought me a bottle of silver water. After each bum change we wipe her down with a warm wash cloth, spray some of the silver water and let her air dry for about 30 minutes. Then before we put on another diaper we spray some more.
In less then 24 hours the rash is looking MUCH better and she is no longer in pain from it.
