I've heard that apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup diluted in 1/2 cup water will help. Another idea is to get a shampoo that is fragrance-free. Make sure you are drinking 8 glasses of water per day.

Ok, so me and my best friends were at the pool today and we always bring shampoo so we can wash our hair afterwards. Me and only 1 other friend have dandruff problems and she brought Men's Axe Dandruff shampoo. Well I tried it and it works like a miracle! You have to get it and it smells minty so it doesn't have to smell like men's. Just try it. It works like a DREAM!

Look at the ingredients on the back of you shampoo bottles. If you see ammonium lauryl sulfate. I suggest to discountinue use. Ammonium Lauryl sulfate. Is what they use to make the shampoo soapy. This causes dandriff, itchy skin, and burning. If will be hard to find a product with out this ingredient. Because 95% of shanmpos contains this. I would try looking for organic

Use apple cider vinegar, to get rid of dandruff. Apply apple cider vinegar into your hair, enough to wet your scalp. Do this five minutes before you shower, then wash your hair as you normally would, while showering. You will start to see a difference within a week or so. You will also notice that your hair will be healthier, and softer.

Apply warm cocnut oil on the scalp and hair. Leave on for 2 hrs. Wash off with a shampoo that does not contain Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate. Once a week, use nizral shampoo (2% from Johnson and Johnson), on the scalp alone. This is the only most effective treatement for stubborn dandruff.

Baking Soda! Dandruff is a fungus and baking soda kills fungus. It's easy and cheap. Wet hair in shower, pour a handful of baking soda on it, massage in & rinse. Use daily for 1 week or more. Then use weekly thereafter. There is no smell, it's non-toxic (except to fungus) and it treats even the most severe dandruff.

I have had dandruff for the past couple years now, specifically around my hairline near my forehead. I have tried numerous things- baking soda, Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue, Neutrogena T-Gel, tar shampoo, and my doctor prescribed me with a steroid-based lotion which made me break out.

Then, I rescued a dog who had a skin condition (flaky, itchy). I did some research and found that fish oil could be beneficial for him. I have been giving him fish oil supplements daily, and have been taking them myself... and I HAVE FINALLY SEEN RESULTS!!! No more flakes, no more itching! TRY IT!!!

The answer and only answer to dandruff is to REMOVE THE CAUSE OF IT not just keep having to get it out of your hair and as much off your scalp as possible. Remove the fungus that is killing your scalp's skin cells. Use Nizoral shampoo. It's about $13 cad for a small bottle here but you only need to use it every now and then and it's good for 10- 30 treatments; depending on hair length, personally with long hair I just focus on covering my scalp not the full length of my hair. At the canadian website you can get a decent coupon and some free samples to try. Hope it hold true for the US to. You'll be convinced after using. Use your other favorite shampoo/conditioner for quite along time in between occasional treatments. You won't need luck on this one and you won't be chasing flakes anymore!

Dandruff can be associated with imbalanced scalp conditions. Many people have tried medicated shampoos and other nautral products (herbs). Imbalanced scalp conditions can also come from scalps that are over oily, and this was my problem, so i tried using a shampoo that treats oily hair, and this worked for me. My problem was not dry scalp, but rather over oily scalp and caused an imbalance so applying shampoo for oily hair worked on my hair...now i am dandruff free!!!

I have very bad dry scalp, lots of dandruff. I put Hydrogen Peroxide, which comes in a brown bottle on my scalp. Then I showered a few hours after. Took a few tries, but it worked.

Don't leave it on your hair overnight. When you come home from work/school. Put Hydrogen Peroxide on your scalp. Shower it off before bed.

I've had dandruff for years. I've tried almost everything from salt rinses to medicated shampoos. The only thing that seems to be helping now is Tea-tree oil. I've been using it for almost two weeks and I've noticed a remarkable difference. I've stopped itching my scalp, my hair looks healthier, and the dandruff is going away. Before you use the oil make sure you have no scalp abrasions. You just take some of the oil and gently rub it into your scalp. Wait about two-three hours and shampoo and condition as normal.
