This sounds a little crazy but it works! If you burn your tounge, immediately dump a sugar packet into your mouth. Let the sugar sit on your tounge until it's disolved. You won't even notice you burned it. Since I heard this, I never leave home without a sugar packet in my purse.

Remedy from burns

Three years ago I fried chichen in oil and along with it two fingers on my right hand.. lol! Instantly, I had a 3rd degree burn, the skin on both fingers turned into one huge blister, so it was painfully even look at it. My pain level was 11 on scale 1 to 10, so I had to fill an emergency prescription for Vicodin... In short, my burns very very severe. The doctor prescribed some medicated ointment which did nothing but to prevent an infection. I had to wear a huge bandage on my fingers, so I couldn't type or write. Two weeks passed by and I didn't see ANY improvement. The blistered skin deflated and ripped, and the naked flesh was very painful to touch. It was a torture to change bandages every day. So after two weeks of no improvements I started searching for alternative cures. I came across a website, which claimed that natural HONEY is the best remedy for burns, and some individuals treated their severe burns in a week time. It sounded crazy, but I had nothing to lose. So, I've bought natural honey at Jewel, sterilized cosmetic scissors and removed dead/blistered skin to expose unprotected flesh (this step is essential in order to prevent scars). It was brudal and gross at the same time... I've applied generous amount of honey DIRECTLY on the burns and then bandaged them. I've changed bandages twice a day, reapplying honey again (there is no need to clean the area before each application, because honey sort of melts and part of it gets absorbed by flesh and a bandage). Only seven (7) days later - I've got new skin and din't have to wear any bandage anymore! It was like a miracle! Evidently, honey is a natural antiseptic, that is why it helps to heal as well as to prevent an infection. But the best part was a surprize after my skin was healed - I have no scar whatsoever! Looking at my hand no one can tell that I had any kind of burns on my hand.
If any of you need to ask more questions about my experiece - please don't hesitate to email me: devchonkat@yahoo.com.

Came across your site and thought i'd submit something.

I know of an exceptionally effective natural remedy for healing burns and lowering a fever: egg whites.

Egg whites are by far the best method to lower a high temperature within MINUTES! When I was about 4 or 5 years old, I had acquired a fever so high that I started to hallucinate. My mother was in a panic, she feared brain damage if something didn't lower the fever and FAST. My grandma told her to soak 2 cloths or hankerchiefs in egg whites and put on the soles of the feet (cover with socks). The egg whites instantaneously start to draw the temperature DOWN from the brain (where it is dangerous) to the feet (where it can do no damage). After that incident my mom used this method successfully every time I had high temp.

The egg whites are also a miracle cure for burns, even severe ones. Soak or coat affected area in egg white. While the egg white is still wet you will feel no pain from the burn. As soon as it dries up the pain comes back so reapplication is necessary. This method not only aleviates the pain it actually heals and prevents scarring from the burn.

I submited this remedy to earthclinic.com and there has been a lot of positive feed back: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/fever.html

I would like to let more people know about the miraculous effectiveness of treating fevers and burns with egg whites so please post this on your site if you deem fit.

Best regards,
Ani from Ontario, Canada

Clean with household anti-bacterial soap (aka Dial or Safeguard) then take a bowl of COOL, definetly not cold, and soak a few regular grocery store black tea bags into the water for a few minutes (during this time, take an Advil or other ibuprofen type based pain reliever to reduce swelling as well as the pain). When the tea has steeped into the water, soak the affected area (the tannic acid naturally found in black tea dramatically reduces the pain associated with household burns that do not require professional medical treatment). Once the area begins to feel better, do NOT rinse the tea off the skin; however, just GENTLY bandage the area with NON-STICK breathable (aka no plastic bandages). I hope this helps you should you ever have to endure the pain of burns. See also, the topic of sunburn.

Burns:

If you have a small burn, take witch hazel and put it on the area where the burn is..if u keep the witch hazel there the burn will not hurt, but once u move the witch hazel ur gonna feel that pain again..it helps for temp. relief..

Also for burn use a aloe vera plant, take one of the leave type things open it up to where the gell type stuff is out and rub it on the area where the burn or cut is...

a few years ago my mom was burned pretty bad. she had 3rd degree burns on her legs and they turned black and had pus sacs off the sides. My grandparents were telling some of their friends about it and they happened to a lady who could help. she gave my mom a sun-tea jar filled wiht 'mushroom tea.' you keep it in the closet and this mushroom grows in it and itll grow another mushroom off the side and you can fill another jar with water and keep that mushroom in it too. the stuff tasted terrible but my mom drank it daily; her legs got better and didnt scar at all. i dont know what kind of mushroom did it or anything because we accidentally let ours die. does anyone know?

A few years ago while draining some pasta, I accidentally poured the boiling water over one of my hands. Needless to say it blistered and the blisters eventually ruptured leaving raw, painful sores. My mother put some Epsom Salts into a bowl of very warm, too warm (almost hot) for comfort water and had me soak my hand in this water. Within 24 hours the open sores had scabbed over and the pain was gone. After a week the had was almost healed and a month later there was no scarring.
I have used this method since on other burns with the same results but did not wait for the blister to burst and leave a raw sore.

There are many treatments for burns. For small burns i would recommend icing immediately even though everyone else says not to. I'm 75% burned from a large fire. Severely burned. I keep getting minor burns and i find that immediate icing with quick removal when icing burns and re-ice when that calms. Keep a happy medium of comfort for at least a half hr or so and keep away from heat for a while. If blistering i'll have add another remedy.

Take a cool wet paper towel sprinkle libreal amout of of baking soda on paper towel. Make sure baking soda gets fairly moist with water also. Apply baking soda side of cool damp paper towel directly over burn area or wrap it with paper towel baking soda towards burn if burn is on finger. After a few minuts the baking soda will pull the burn out. Reapply as necessary

Raw Mushrooms work!
I read in a small book on home remedies to take a raw mushroom or slices and apply immediately to a burn. It will not only relieve the pain, but will promote healing so that you often don't end up with a blister and if you do, it will heal in a day or 2. I burnt my fingers badly not long after reading that and applied mushrooms pieces to it. The throbbing pain stopped and I placed bandages to gently secure the mushrooms. (It will smell like mushrooms but it is worth it!) I left them on overnight and the next day, the skin was discoloured but no blister. It healed up so rapidly (within the next day) that I was amazed. I keep mushrooms in the freezer in a baggie for this purpose, and I wouldn't to be without them. I wish a burn specialist would find out what is in this and use it on the poor patients they treat.

When you get a burn quickly apply cold water soaked camomile tea bags,(do not squeeze the water out) directly to the burn and apply pressure for 10 min. The tea will take away the redness and the sting and keep your skin from blistering.

TOOTHPASTE & EGG WHITES
THE MIRACLE CURE FOR BURNS.
ESPECIALLY ON FINGERS OR HANDS/FEET.

Instructions:
I will use my finger as an illustration:
Crack an egg into a bowl. Cover finger with the egg white, then take your finger out of the egg-white. You should then apply a generous amount of toothpaste to the burned area on your finger. After you have applied toothpaste, put the finger(s) back into the egg white, covering the entire burn without taking finger out of the bowl of egg white, leave in for 15-20 minutes. When you bring your finger out, the toothpaste and egg-white will dry quickly. Leave this dried 'paste' concotion on your finger for about 45 minutes, you should be entirely pain free from the minute you stuck the toothpaste covered finger in the egg white, all the way until you wash it all off your finger an hour later. THIS REALLY WORKS. I have done it a number of times and it truly is a remarkable pain reliever. Thanks.

Try a potato - A friend of mine works in a restaurant and she swears by it; says something in the juice helps to neutralize the burn.

Several times a day cut a fresh slice of potato and rub it on the affected area or at least squeeze the juice on it if possibly. It helps with the sting and cuts healing time in half.

I recommended this to a nurse friend of mine recently and she was rather impressed.

As a side note, according to Shriner's Burn Institute in Cincinnati, OH, Placing anything on a burn (i.e. toothpaste) only traps in the heat and allows it to continue doing damage.

This might seem a bit weird, but when you get a burn, pour melted candle wax over the area and let it sit for about 3-5 minutes and the oils in the wax will releive the burned area.
