...the Remedy that worked for me is something you can find in the summer outside or at the grocery store. My grandma saved me once when I had a terrible case of something worse than athlete's foot. My skin was literally rotting off and had to be removed by a doctor. I had very large blisters between my toes that were just horrible. My grandma went out into a field and picked a tall fluffy kind of plant called 'Fennel'. You boil it for about 20 min in a large pan and allow it to cool. Soak in the boiled mixture for about 20 min. Dry off and repeat about 2 -3 times a day. It worked WONDERS!!!! I had tried everything, trust me. I recommended it once to a friend who had been trying all sorts of creams under her arms because she had some type of yeast infection. But for you women, I wouldn't suggest using it in personal areas since I don't know for sure about that. I guess since it is natural and if you were desperate, maybe. Anyway, throw it out after a day and start over. It may stain clothes because the liquid is green, so beware of that. Hope it helps someone! (You can find Fennel in the produce section close to the cabbages and such.) Be sure to apply several applications over the course of a couple days or however long it takes. You should definitely see improvement almost immediately.

Take it from a medic-
Even though you are finding a great many 'home remedies' on this site, you should proceed carefully when choosing a method!
True Boric Acid IS NOT meant to be used ON A RASH or on your skin! It can be toxic to adults, children, and pets alike! It is meant for socks and shoes as a cleaning or drying agent and is NOT meant to TREAT the fungus!
Onion & garlic extracts have been used as homeopathic remedies with some success (though not proven to be full proof-it may work in less than 15% of the people who try it).
Baking Soda helps with drying and balancing PH
The use of household bleach as a direct topical application or soak for tinea pedis is not recommended, as it is a well documented irritant and diluted as an environmental decontaminant to prevent the spread of dermatophytes between animals, and from animals to humans.
Some podiatrists recommend soaking the feet in a solution of Epsom salts in warm water.
If you want true help in getting rid of the Athletes Foot, the key is not only keeping your feet dry but drying out the often raised rash which is sometimes accompanied by blisters or sores. Change your white cotton socks at least 2 times daily. As athletes foot can lead to jock itch and a variety of other problems, do NOT take a BATH-try a shower (wash the area gently with a mild facial cleanser or anit-bacterial soap). Then get a basin (clear plastic storage bins work great) & Soak your feet in warm water (NOT HOT-hot water irritates the areas and makes the rash worse). You can either add regular table salt to the water, vinegar, or plain tea bags (all three of these options will help dry out the rash and give an anti fungal cream or spray a better chance of being fast acting). Beware of corn starch as it often 'feeds' this sort of rash and makes it worse. Remember that chemicals like bleach, nail polish remover, tilex, etc & household liquids like Listerine may kill the fungus and germs but they can also have adverse affects including chemical burns and blood infections. It's always best to consult a doctor before trying home remedies as you may be allergic to many of the ones suggested online.
I've seen a case where a man used Listerine on his foot and ended up with 'jungle rot'-NOT a pretty picture. While it's GREAT for toe nail fungus, it's not so great for your whole foot!
Something else to consider is your stress level and body PH. High acid foods like sodas & tomatoes can contribute to skin rashes. Try adding more water, fish oil, nuts, & PH balancing foods to your diet! Also, de-stress...after all, everyone needs an ooosaaah moment! Hope this helps!!

I know this will sound nuts nut it really work... urinate on your feet where the affected areas are let it soak there for a minute or two then rinse off with warm water. It does not have to be your own urine.. its easiest done in the shower or 'peeing' in a cup. You will feel results after one or twice and see results in a week or so.. the more you do it the better!

Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash Cream! This stuff works wonders! Depending on the severity, it takes a day or two, sometimes longer. The only thing about it is, you have to be diligent about it. Apply at least twice a day! Dries area out good!

I just had to add my two cents. I've seen some really bizarre home remedies on this forum, but please try Vinegar its cheap, all natural non-toxic and on the money!!!
I had athletes foot for close to 40 years. I got it as a teen camp counselor when I monitored kids from the poolside while barefoot. Last Summer I just happen to read about the vinegar cure online which recommended soaking feet in a small amount of vinegar added to warm water. But Instead, I did my usual 1/2 cup bleach to a foot tub of hot soapy water with my usual cool water rinse, scrape, scrub and dry pedicure routine.
Then, being the extremist that I am, the NEXT DAY after showering I put some undiluted vinegar in a smallish spray bottle and THOROUGHLY sprayed my feet 2- 3 times daily for about 3 weeks. It was Summer and I was usually in flip flops or open sandals. The Vinegar was quite cooling and the itching stopped immediately. But what I finally figured out, which only two of the 71 respondents on this forum barely mentioned, is that:
YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST TREAT YOUR SHOES AND HOSIERY TOO
so that you don't re-contaminate your feet. Funny I don' recall reading that on all those tubes of Dessenex, Tinactin and Lotrimin I've consumed over the years.
I got a bottle of vinegar and poured a little in the toe area of EVERY PAIR OF SHOES I OWN. I swished it around then THOROUGHLY wiped the insides out heel to toe. I even put a few pairs in the sunlight to dry. Not only did the acidic vinegar kill the fungus but it also acted as a natural deodorizer so my shoes were all smelling 'springtime fresh' when they dried- not at all vinegary.
I am happy to say I am 8 months athletes foot free, I have NOT had one ferocious midnight itching episode since my treatment; and. my feet are actually starting to look attractive. I'm finally looking forward to being barefoot on the beach.

soak your feet in warm water, and then file them to get as much hard skin off as you can. Cover you feet with a thin layer of oregano oil. It smmel bad but in 3 or 4 days it will be all gone! Plus oregano oil has so many other uses. Good luck

I got athletes foot a few monthss ago and used lamisil which I know is not a home remedy but after my athletes foot went away I got a hard rough spot on the bottom of my foot that itched a little bit (but not bad at all) I tried putting bio oil on it and the next morning it was gone and I haven't had any problems since.(:

I'm back and writing again just to testify that after 40 years of misery, I am now nearly
***** TWO YEARS ATHLETES FOOT FREE!*****
******** VINEGAR RULES!!! **************
I'm making spreading the word about VINEGAR instead of all the toxic anti-fungal creams and drugs my personal mission. I still fume when I think of all the money wasted, and the pain and suffering I needlessly endured
Finally The gritty hand towels I used for the ferocious itch at night no longer reside in my nightstand. No more hours 'cleaning up' before a professional pedicure. No more ugly peeling feet on the beach. No more trying on only one shoe in the shoe store. LIFE IS GOOD!!!
VINEGAR is the way to go. Apple CIDER VINEGAR or WHITE VINEGAR either will do.
Some like to dilute and soak, personally I liked a full strength spray.
BUT, If for any reason you don't feel VINEGAR is working for you, no matter what cure you try, be sure to treat or disinfect ALL shoes, socks, and surfaces too. They are where the FUNGUS LIVES ON just waiting to RE-CONTAMINATE your feet.
That explains why all of the expensive creams only work for a while, The fungus is alive and well just waiting for you to run out of it.
LONG LIVE VINEGAR!!!

I know this sounds dumb and gross, but nobody else put it so i will. Get in the shower, piss on your infected area each day till it goes away. If.... it comes back do it again. I did this as advice from a family friend because i used to get it so bad i would bleed. I seriously thought about chopping off my feet. I peed on my toes in the shower, let it sit for a couple minutes, then rinsed it off. I know it's gross. but my daily life with athletes foot is over. I did this three times in a row, with instant relief and instant healing that was noticeable. I haven't had it since. That was ten years ago! take it or leave it, its up to you, either way im cured and never looked back.!!!!!

Okay so we've all had it. That case of Athletes foot that just wont go away. I tried everything. Nothing seemed to work, and then when my sensitive skin had an allergic reaction to the lotramin spray. Forget it. My foot looked horrible. So I tried something on my own.
3 times a day I used Hydrogen Peroxide (3%, the stuff you buy at the grocery store for under a 1$). I poured it on my foot, concentrating in between my toes. I'm not going to lie to you all, it burns, and fizzes. But thats okay it cleaning out the infection. So three times a day, followed by the application of Neosporin on the affected area. In one day I saw a big improvement in my foot. After a week the infection was almost completely gone. Remember to air out your foot to keep the area dry and of course wear well ventilated shoes. And don't forget the most important part..
YOU MUST TREAT YOUR SHOES AND HOSIERY!!!

I recently had to fight with athlete's foot. It started with my toe nails, was being treated by my doc. with lamisil pills and soon after the itching started. I have to say that I tried it ALL!!!!! vinegar, tea tree oil, deodorant, lamisil cream, clorox, everything. Then I came across more comments from people like me. Frustrated I came across the one guy who suggested LYSOL. Let me tell you that I simply washed my feet, dried and sprayed a light coat of LYSOL. That night I was finally able to sleep!!!!! I continued with it and now it's completely gone!

So yeah, I got athelete's foot from the shower at the campground this summer, and had a heck of a time getting rid of it. I tried everything- tinactin, anti-fungal creams and sprays, but I work as a waitress and every time my feet got a touch of moisture, it came back. It was a good year for me to contract communicable disease- check out my post on head lice lol. I had that twice! Anyway here's what I did to finally rid myself of the fungus amongus!
You will need:
Apple cider vinegar
Fungi-cure liquid
Dawn dish soap
cotton socks (80%) at least
So my itching was so bad I seriously wanted to chop my foot off, I was losing sleep and patience, and those darn anti-fungal sprays gave some relief but were ineffective in the long run. The vinegar helped, but by itself wasn't enough. That's when I discovered fungi-cure liquid. It's a godsend. I think it's just basically tea tree oil and alchohol, but boy does it work. What I did was- when showering, scrub the feet vigorously with a shower puff and dish soap. (I used a special puff for my feet only) If you need to scratch, now's the time. It actually helps the other treatment work by opening up the sores, and of course the scratching feels really good. Then just before you get out, douse the feet in vinegar and let sit a while, then air dry. You can also do a soak in hot water and as much vinegar as you can stand. It burns, BTW! Make sure the feet are completely dry, and use the blow drier to dry between your toes. Then apply the fungi-cure liberally at least twice a day. Although I'll admit, once I found out that stuff worked I used it a lot more often. Wear flip flops or the cotton socks only during the day if possible, and change them if they're even a tiny bit wet. Wear different shoes every day to allow them to air out for at least 24 hours, and spray the inside with vinegar or sprinkle a little tinactin powder if you have some. Remember to keep your feet dry and in the future, always wear your shower shoes!!!

P.S.
in addition to treating your shoes and socks with the cider VINEGAR, use the household cleaners to thoroughly clean and disinfect your tub, shower, bathroom floors, carpets and other areas where you are typically barefoot and have left some fungus. The fungus will just stay there, waiting to reinfect you after all your hard work.
Also keep a small bottle of the cider VINEGAR spray on your night table. When your feet start to itch during the night the VINEGAR will PUT THE FIRE OUT right away.

Athletes foot/Nail Fungus So yea wow I've tried like every thing. Went to Walmart and bought everthing under the sun but White Vinger soak every day for a hour works best I saw result in less then couple days... What I do is soak for a hour when my feet get pruny I take them out and scrub them to get all the dead skin off cause that what the fungus like to eat... after a week my feet were smooth and looking allot better I think if I do this for a couple months I'll be allot better.... I still use all the crap I bought at the store too during this main important thing is to keep feet dry and not humid and hot which is hard for me cuz I live in texas... I take my shoes off like 3 times a day to air them out trust me I got get rid of this now I'm 25

I went without athlete's foot for years, and in the past year it has been horrible. I only get it under the pinky toe for each foot. It was to the point that I could not even sleep and was using tinactin spray to cool the itch and pain. The other day I was even bleeding from one of the toes and was in horrible pain at work.
I have read some of the remedies here and have tried a few of them. I tried the water and white vinegar mix in a tub for 15m (this did nothing and I was still in discomfort). I had read about using lysol disinfectant spray and decided to give it a try (this did work and I was feeling better within minutes). I had also read about vicks vaporub and have been applying it with q-tips before bed (it has also helped).
I have been using the lysol spray daily and applying vicks before bed. I have also been spraying the inside of my shoes with the lysol spray (to kill the fungus and not get this again).
Sorry for the rambling, but wanted to share what I have tried and the results.

This Is a RE-POST (page 8) but
I AM ON A MISSION.
I'm encouraged by the fact that the original post got so many responses and that overall VINEGAR post seem to get the most votes every time. I thought the purpose of this site was to share effective NATURAL CURES. Too many of these post still advise using chemicals. Remember what everything you put ON your skin is the same as EATING the thing. Household cleaners, OTC and prescription meds tax your body over time.
Please TRY VINEGAR and remember to also treat your shoes and hosiery with the apple cider VINEGAR ( whatever your ph ) in order to KEEP ATHLETES FOOT AWAY.
BTW Skip the bleach soak. Thanks to VINEGAR, I am now almost 3 years athletes foot free!!!

On and off, I have had persistent athlete's foot for the better part of my life. I've used a diluted bleach solution effectively in the past, but only when desperate, as it is a carcinogen. For my most recent outbreak I was given a prescription (again) from my dermatologist (can't remember name or strength). I used it for several months with no end to my problem. I then looked online for home remedies and saw that someone had mentioned vinegar as a solution. Since I wasn't interested in trying bleach again (a strong basic chemical), I thought I would try a strong acidic chemical this time - and one that won't give me cancer in the future, to boot. Short answer - vinegar works very well! Long answer, my method to follow:
1. I soaked my feet in pure vinegar for ~30 minutes, then air-dried my feet. When my feet were dried I scraped my feet with a foot conditioning stone. The vinegar really softens the callouses on your feet and makes removal very easy (note to self for future pedicures!). Since the fungus hides in the nooks and crannies of your foot's callouses, removing the callouses and opening up all of the blisters helps air them out.
2. After doing this, I applied the prescribed athlete's foot medication. I honestly believe that an OTC medication would work just fine. It might be good to alternate between treatment types so that the fungus doesn't develop a resistance to one or the other.
3. I followed the foot soak and cream application twice a day, and scraped my feet every couple of days at night before going to bed.
4. I would follow this regimen for at least 2 weeks. If you are diligent, I am confident this will work for you. If it sounds like too much work, then perhaps you're not as sick of your athlete's foot fungus as I was.
5. Don't forget to clean all of your socks and shoes! Launder socks, insoles (if removable), and shoes (when possible), and set shoes and insoles out in the sun to dry. If you have work boots, launder insoles and use a foot powder inside the boot. If you wear high heels, you can clean the foot bed with a cloth soaked in vinegar. I would do this at the beginning of the regimen and then again after a few weeks of treatment.

Until I found this quick, easy and inexpensive treatment, I suffered for years with chronic athlete's foot infections. I have spent a fortune on various remedies over the years to get each infection under control. Within a few weeks, after each “cure”, the infection would be back. Early on I learned to do a better job of keeping my feet clean and dry, changing shoes or insoles frequently, always wearing clean dry socks, etc., etc., which helped but did not stop my chronic problem. Then I discovered what seemed like a miracle at the time. I simply started to apply 99% isopropyl alcohol on and between my toes every morning as part of my routine (note that the 70% solution is not as effective). I have been infection free continuously for several years now, ever since I started applying the alcohol daily. Nothing could be easier or cheaper and it is readily available at most drug stores. I use a small plastic bottle with a dispensing tube on its end to control the amount applied each morning. This absolutely works for me.

My Husband Had Athletes Feet for so many years, working every day in work boots, and alot of times working in wet conditions. We tried everything on the market, and never won the battle completly, untill he started using a blow dryer to dry his feet after towel drying. That and using Blue Star Ointment, just that little jar that last forever, and a blow dryer!. it has been so many years since he has had this foot problem, and it never ever flares up. also use blow dryer if you are bothered with Jock itch, towel drying is not enough.our whole family uses a blow dryer, It Works!

Nothing seemed to work and my feet were on fire and itching so bad I was going crazy. I got the apple cider vinegar, put one part vinegar to four parts water in a five gallon bucket and started soaking my feet. The relief was instant. After the soaking, I scraped the dead skin off my feet and toes with a callous scraper that you can buy at the drug store, continued with Lotrimin ultra cream and poured baking soda on my feet and toes. I soaked my feet twice a day and did the cream and baking soda routine, and my condition was cleared up in four days. I would suggest continuing the process for two weeks and periodically after that. Creams and sprays by themselves did nothing, but the vinegar and water sure did the trick.

I finallly got a handle on my athletes foot!
I sparyed my foot with Lysol three times a day and then spent time in the sun, making sure my foot got plenty of sunshine. I bought the Lysol for $2 at Target.
In between, I'd coat with over the counter fungus cream and Vicks vapor rub.At night, I slept with the foot exposed with a thin treatment of Vicks.
After three days of this treatment, the skin stopped sloughing off and the itching finally stopped. Now the skin is looking much better.

I have experience and this works: Wash feet with wash-cloth and soap - rinse well, dry thoroughly. Spray on entire foot and 3 inches above foot on leg with 'Lysol Disinfectant' spray in scent called Crisp Linen (agreeable scent.) With hand, rub lysol spray into foot only 30 seconds then dry off excess with clean dry cloth or paper towel. Repeat on other foot. Put on clean slippers and wash hands. Never wear the same pair of shoes 2 days in a row-they must dry out inbetween wearing. Change socks 1-2 times day. Let feet air when at home but always have something on your feet like clean slippers or flip-flops. I know Lysol spray is not made for this, but I was desperate. Even if skin is broke, spray on, rub in quick and wipe off/dry again, limiting your exposure. You should feel relief first time you do this.

My 3 year old has Athele's Foot from wanting to walk around barefoot everywhere. I hated the idea of using those strong harsh OTC creams on her, so I looked around for home remedies. She was crying because it hurt so bad, so I combined a few of the home remedies and this is what is working for her:
-foot soak with 8 cups warm water and 1 cup Epsom salt
-rinse
-foot soak with 8 cups lukewarm water and 2 cups vinegar for 10 minutes
-rinse
-a quarter-sized amount of Cortisone 10, rubbed in well
-light dusting of baking soda
I sprayed her sneakers with Lysol and set them up to dry. In the morning, I plan on rinsing her feet with vinegar and water, rubbing more Cortisone cream on her toes and applying more backing soda before putting her socks and shoes on.

I had athlete's foot for months, and couldn't fully get rid of it. After reading the suggestions on here, I tried the tea tree oil mixed with aloe. I also thoroughly spray my shoes with Lysol spray as soon as I take them off. I can't afford to just throw away my shoes and buy new ones. Of course, I'm cleaning my bathtub with bleach and then spraying with Lysol after I rinse it. I am also spraying the bathroom floor and bathmat. I rinse my clothes with 1 cup of vinegar added to the washer instead of fabric softener. I noticed an improvement right away. Before, even though the rash was gone, my feet would suddenly start itching intensely at times, sometimes during the day, but often at night. One thing I started doing that I think was the key for me--I spray my bed with Lysol when I get up, especially where my feet were. No more late-night itch.

I fought Athlete’s foot for twenty years. I tried everything over the counter, and the athlete’s foot always came back. I had the crud so bad I bled between my toes, and the itching and burning you see in TV commercials woke me at night. I won’t tell you about the odor. My toe nails were discolored and disfigured from the fungus. I was embarrassed to go barefoot. Not anymore.
I researched causes and many natural cures, tried various mixtures on my feet and those of friends, and Clear Feet is the solution everyone agreed worked the best at eliminating athlete’s foot and fowl odors. If you, or someone you know, has these symptoms, you need Clear Feet.
Clear Feet works. It is all natural, and is infused with the essential oils of: Thyme, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Camphor, and Peppermint.

Hydrogen Peroxide
Soak your feet in a basin in over the counter Hydrogen Peroxide (Brown Bottle). Soak for 20-30 minutes. Save the same solution to repeat the following day. Twice is all that I do and it works.

Chlorine bleach works well (like about a 1/2 cup diluted in about 5 gallons of warm water in a pail or basin) for the kind in between the toes and does some good for fungus on the soles of the feet (it stops the itching), but I've never been able to completely get rid of it on the bottoms of my feet...

In a large bowl (big enough for feet):) fill it part way with hot water and add...
1 cup of vinegar
1/4 cup of epson salt
3 table spoons of Boric Acid
Boric acid mixes very well when whisked!
so whisk it up and soak feet for at least 15 min , dry thoroughly,
dusting with cornstarch is good for keeping dry.
We noticed right away the decrease in odor and after only one week and four treaments the fungus is leaving! Yay!!
It is very important to treat your feet well. shoes that breathe and sandals, clean socks always! let them piggies get air!

I've had really bad athletes foot now for over two years. No medicines that any doctor has given me or otc has worked. My feet burned so bad, I could hardly walk. Especially in hot humid weather. The only thing so far that has helped was 'Dr. Bronners peppermint soap'. I wash once in the morning and then once in the night leaving a small amount of soap on my foot and drying with a hair dryer between my toes. Also, changing my shoe insoles every few hours throughout the day. You need to use Dr. Scholl air pillows which allows you feet to breathe. You also need to have a couple of pairs of them to switch off when your feet get damp. Also switch your socks if them get hot and damp. My feet are finally responding by becoming smoother and burning less. Hopefully they'll continue to heal and the skin will become less thick on the heal and sides of my foot and between the toes. Dr Bronners peppermint soap is all natural and can be bought at GNC and most other healthfood stores. It works the best if you make a lather between your hands with a dime sized squirt and rub it into your feet after you have washed and rinse them with this soap. I hope this works for you like it has for me because there really is no safe cure.

MY PROBLEM IS that the fungus is on my RIGHT HEEL. Only the heel, not on the toes. My doctor suggested 2.5% hydrocortisone with Denorex Powder afterwards. It's a week, some relief but I do not know if it will ever go away.
I've had this ailment for 4 months thinking it was just an insect bite at first.
The itch comes and goes, the pain goes and goes, burning comes and goes also.

Stop Athlete's Foot for good! When your feet feel like they are burning and itching, just spray some TILEX MOLD AND MILDEW REMOVER on them. It will relieve the burning and itching and make them feel good. Wait for about 3 minutes and wash off with water. If you had Athlete's foot for years, doing this 2 times for only 2 days will fully cure your Athlete's Foot!!!! Just read the bottle, it says right on it that it KILLS ATHLETE'S FOOT FUNGUS! Try it. I've had athletes foot for over 25 years, tried a LOT of things T tree oil( gave bad reaction, blisters etc etc etc) Garlic, silver solutions sprayed on feet, a silver rod in my shoes, other things i can't remember, and of course the countless (harmfull) creams and talcs. OOOOHH HONEY! - Didn't work.
So any way came across this site advising apple cider. I tried it undiluted( you might want to be carefull with the white vinegar, i found it to be very agressive) and needles to say it worked, i found a direct imrovement the next day with excess skin caused by the fungus, peeling off. THIS WAS THE first day. Acually the first day i tried it i knew something was changing i knew it. I tried it again last night and i will keep on doing it for the next comming weeks. I am hundred percent clear this will solve my athletes foot and i urge ANYONE to try it,please . .
I never felt so clean, and i tell you: it really ups your chance of getting a nice girlfriend.

Hello.. I have been battling Athlete's foot for about a year now. I treated it last year with apple cider vinegar (AVC) after reading many of these home remedies. It cured it! However, when this winter rolled around, the AF came back. I wanted to come onto this site and write a post because ACV was the only thing that saved me the second time around.
I have tried all the creams, sprays, garlic, hydrogen peroxcide, teas, ect and nothing worked. It was so painful and swollen I could barely walk after a day of work. I would sit at my desk in cry because I was so uncomfortable.
I went to my local supermarket and got the biggest container of ACV they had. I began soaking my feet in only ACV three times a day (morning, on my lunch break and at night after I showered) for 15 minutes. The pain and itching has dramatically decreased. I now am soaking only twice a day and after this weekend will reduce to once a day for a week. It is honestly the only solution I found that really helps. I made it a point to write this because I know how upsetting it can be to deal with (and embarrassing).
Currently I lysol my bathtub after every use and only wear flip flops in my house (even though it is winter). I try to change my socks twice a day, change my bed sheets every couple days and put baby powder in my shoes after each wear.
Also, during the most painful AF period I left and went on a weekend vacation to Puerto Rico and the sun and salt water cured my feet as well.
I hope anyone suffering with AF can find relief with ACV and lots of patients. And remember that even though you THINK it might gone, its not. Soak for another week just to make sure!!!!
Good luck!

I tried vinegar on my effect foot for about a week. I did notice improvement but the vinegar started to dry my foot out. So then I found in a home remedy book to use garlic. Garlic is a great antifungal antiseptic. There are several ways you can use the garlic to treat athlete's foot.
1. Crush a couple cloves into small pieces and add a small amount of rubbing alcohol and water; soak foot for at least a half hour.
2. Crush several cloves and add to olive oil for 2-3 days. Then rub the mixture all over foot. (I found this to work the best because the olive oil keeps the skin moist)
3. You can even try cutting a clove of garlic and placing the pieces directly onto the skin.
Also do not forget to keep shoes and socks clean by using lysol or bleach. If you forget this step the athlete's foot will never go away.

So I have athlete's foot ewww. I went to my regular doctor who prescribed a cream, an expensive cream I might add. After almost a year of using that it seemed to only control it. I will say that like alot of people I backed off using it when it seemed to get better. Not the thing to do. Use it every day every day every day. I eventually went to a dermatologist who told me to use his cream and wear the same dirty sock every night for a week. Again ewww...I did not do this. He did not however say I had athletes foot. I have tried OTC products for athletes foot and again they only seemed to control the problem. One, guess I can't mention the name but it started with a LO, made it worse...much worse. i did try the vinegar...ouch. Not fun and did not work. Then I found someone on one of these home remedy sites that mentioned VICKS vapo rub. Really? Vicks? yes. So I figured I would try it and if it didn't work I would only be out a few bucks. Well remeber the last thing I used had my atheletes foot so bad it had almost surounded my bid toe. The Vicks was at least soothing I thought and somewhat controlled the itch. So I began using it daily, anytime I put on socks or shoes at bedtime just whenever. I am about 1/3 into my little jar of generic Vicks and are you ready for this? wearing sandles. Unbeleivable to me that after all the suffering I have had to enddure and the ugliness it creates Vicks has been my answer. I every now and then get an emery board and rub off the excess roughness. I am now down to one little spot and it is barely red. I continue to use my Vicks (almost daily) and continue to exfoiliate the dead skin my as I type this I reached down and touched the top of my foot and it is smooth. If you are at your wits end please give this a try. For just a few dollars what can you loose right. I even bought the generic. Thank you for whomever posted this remedy in the first place as it has worked for me.
Good luck people.

Vaginal anti-fungal medications only work on some types of athletes foot...
If you have athletes foot with cracks or open, raw spots from itching the skin off, other bacteria can get in there.
Yeast infections are common complications of athletes foot infections. If your athlete's foot is oozing or pussing, it might be a yeast infection.
In that case, vaginal creams will do wonders.
If it's not a yeast infection and just regular athlete's foot, it could possibly make the infection worse because the cream is designed to kill yeasts, not fungus.
Anyways, I hope this helps.

-Try to keep your feet as dry as possible during the day
-if your socks or shoes get wet, replace them.
- soak your feet with 20 drops of teatree oil and water 2-3 times a day.
-When wearing shoes, brush your feet or the inside of yours shoes with garlic powder.
-eat lots of garlic or take garlic capsules
Hope this helps! also if you have yellowing toenails, this remedy also is good.

Recipe:
**2 Cups Rubbing Alcohol
**4 tsps of Boric Acid Powder (not as dangerous as it sounds and can be bought at any drug store without a prescription)
**16 drops of 1% Gentian Violet (Also can be bought at any drug store without a prescription --May have to ask the pharmacist)
Shake this mixture well because the boric acid powder never fully dissolves. Pour it over your feet into an old bucket. **THIS WILL STAIN YOUR FEET BLUE.** It will stain furniture and clothing too so be careful.
It wears off your skin in just a few days and it is worth it. Just a few treatments and your Athletes foot will be gone. Be sure to rub your feet with a file to exfoliate all the dead skin ---that way the treatment can get under the dead skin and kill off the fungus.
I used this mixture for my dogs constant ear problems. I figured if it killed the yeast in her ears it would kill the fungus on my feet. I was right. Worked like a charm! Just use it in the winter when no one can see your blue feet. :)

Use nail polish remover in the affected area (between your toes). It stops the itching and burning, gets rid of the redness, and the athlete's foot will be gone in 1-3 days. I found this out accidentally when I had athlete's foot, and was removing the polish from my toenails. I now use this at the first sign of athlete's foot and it really works!

Okay, this cure worked for me in about a week - a week and a half.
First: Afetr every bath/shower/swim ALWAYS dry your feet. The fungus won't feed on it then.
Second: Soak your feet 1-2 times a week in about 2 cups of water and 2 cups of apple cider vinegar
Third: Grab a cotton ball/a tissue soaked in ACV and leave it rested on the area for a good 45 minutes.
Lastly: File your area daily with a foot file then apply tea tree oil.
Hope it works for you! worked fast for me and it still hasnt come back.

I have plantar hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the feet)and developed an awful case of Athletes Foot complete with cracking between my toes and oozing/weeping/itching. I went to see my podiatrist who told me to do the following:
Soak feet 2X a day in hot water and Epsom salts for 15 minutes. Dry feet well, especially between the toes. Use a blow dryer to dry between toes. Apply Dakins solution (a diluted mixture of bleach, purified water and baking soda) with a cotton ball. Let feet air dry. Then apply Gentian Violet with a Q-tip to affected areas only. After several days the macerated areas of your feet/between your toes will start sloughing off.
Gentian Violet will stain your feet 'Barney purple' so let it dry completely before walking around and don't get it on clothes, carpet etc. Continue this routine for a minimum of 3 weeks and it will eradicate your Athlete's Foot.

I had a case of athlete's foot that lasted for the better part of a year. I tried over the counter Lamisil for a month with no improvement. I went to my doctor and was prescribed Itraconazole capsules and a Ketoconazole topical cream for 2 months and saw no improvement. I was at a point where I thought this is just something I would have to deal with for the rest of my life. A friend at work suggested that I try using potassium permanganate. I was able to get my hands on a 500g bottle. I filled a plastic dish wash tub with water until it covered my feet (the infection was on top of my feet). Then, I added 2 heaping plastic spoonfuls of potassium permanganate powder and stirred it until it was dissolved (3 spoonfuls would irritate my skin). I soaked my feet every evening for a half hour until I used up the entire bottle. After soaking I would just pat my feet dry with a towel and put on socks to keep from making a mess around the house. Within 3 days I noticed real improvement and after 2 weeks the infection was completely gone. This was 2 years ago and the infection has never returned. This treatment will stain your skin brown for a few weeks and your toenails will be stained black until they grow out, but it's a small price to pay to get rid of this problem. I got my potassium permanganate from Sigma chemical company, but I also believe that you can get it at plumbing stores as it is used for removing iron from water.

Ok so i picked up AF at the gym, I had it bad on my big toes, the itching and burning were so fierce sleep went out the window. After checking out cures on this website I I tried the salt and vinegar bath,it helps but the fact that you have soak your feet which brings actually more humidity. After I tried tea tree oil but it just wasn't strong enough; then I tried oregano oil and that one almost burned the skin off my feet. so I looked up more remedies posted here and the I saw the Lysol spray. Desperate and lucky to have a bottle lying around I used it. believe me I loathe using chemical stuff, since I'm totally pro natural products. however, in this case it worked instantly, I was able to sleep that night, the soothing feeling was great. I'm still convinced it's highly toxic for you, and just having to breathe the stuff while you are in bed is horrible. but hey, extreme measures for extreme times. Just spray it on your toes twice/thrice a day. Also put it in your shoes and clean the crap out of your bathtub. Good luck.

This is working for me I took a little info from some of the cures that I read here goes. I soaked every day for a week 20-30 mins in APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (twice a day EVERYday would be better). Then I soaked in peroxide for one day and that boiled all of the dead skin away but it will be painful if you have open blisters and you will have to rinse in cold water to stop the action of the peroxide. After each soak I squirt a mixture between my toes and let it dry naturally or with the aide of a fan, put on some cotton socks and go to bed. The mixture is jojoba oil, tea tree oil, aspirin and alcohol

Spray your feet with a half vinegar/water solution. Dont forget to spray your shoes and your carpets also, it stinks at first but will deodorize your house and kill any fungus living in your shoes and on your carpet. This really works, i had athletes foot for almost a year and bought all the crappy creams sprays and finally realized after spending about 250 dollars that their was a better solution, a two dollar bottle of vinegar and a spray bottle from the dollar store, Grandmas done it again, thanks.

This is what is clearing up my athlete's foot:
You will need 3 things: Sea Salt, Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo, and Caladryl lotion. It's best to do this every night before bed. Don't skip a night. Be patient and vigilant. This will actually work.
1) In a bowl or plastic tub of warm/hot water, mix 1/2 teaspoon of SEA SALT and 1 teaspoon of Head & Shoulders DANDRUFF SHAMPOO and soak affected foot for 30 min.
2) After soaking for 30 min. rinse and dry affected area, and apply CALADRYL lotion. This is the pink stuff normally used for poison ivy. It will keep the itching down and probably works to keep it from spreading.
3) Practice good hygiene: Always wear clean socks and never wear shoes that are too old. Feet weren't made for shoes. Take off your shoes during the day, and go barefoot at home as much as possible. This will solve any foot odor problems while keeping your feet fresh and helping to make your shoes last longer.
4) The idea is to heal, not to attack. I know it's frustrating and you want to rip your toes off but absolutely never use harsh chemicals. The people on here claiming it works are saying that to amuse themselves. Harsh chemicals will poison and burn your skin, possibly very badly. Not only does it not work, but now your skin will have to heal from athlete's foot - plus chemical burns.
Good luck and be good to your feet :)

sandals are the answer but flip flops are better, if you cant wear them outside the just walk about when in your home with them. most fungal infections cannot live in dry conditions. drying your feet also removes the smell.

A soak in hot epsom salts for 5-10 minutes, dry thoroughly, really thoroughly, and use Gold Bond Medicated powder all over (esp. between the toes). Don't use anything ointment or creme based as fungus thrives in moist areas! This might take several applications (in the same order) for a day or so but will work.

HONEY HONEY AND NOTHING BUT HONEY. It takes away the itch fast. It works ten times better than what you buy at the store. It is cheap and sticks to your feet and works like a charm. Try and remember once a month to put it on when your feet don't itch and keep it away. And change those socks every day. Nothing but honey. Won't burn your feet or stink like other proposed ideas. Honey is anti microbial and anti fungal, that is why it does not go bad EVER and will kill your fungus!

All I got to say is URINE!!!
I know, it sounds disgusting, but it works. I've had chronic athlete's foot majority of my life. The medications don't work very much, and I've very impatient.
Idea: when you're taking a shower, pee on your affected foot/feet. It'll stop the problem, and then you can immediately rinse it off, then clean it.
If you want more effective way of doing it, pee on the affected foot/feet, let it settle on you, then turn on the water then clean yourself.
By the way, I hope your drain works well.

Athletes Foot was an ongoing battle for me for about 2 years ...I am glad to say that it is finally GONE. however I still give my feet attention once a week and this only takes 5 mins in the shower
you need to try everything! something that works on one person may not work on another.
Even doc recommended prescriptions didn't work for me!!
My cousin is a podiatrist and she recommended ($4 Friars Balsm) from the chemist/pharmacy for me and I would use it every night before bed applied with a cotton swab this I think was what actually helped me the most.
a list of other things I used and used to do:
Tea Tree ( to kill bacteria and help with the stinky smell)
Hospital Grade Disinfectant or diluted Bleach in a foot soak once a day
foot scrubber
spray on 24 hour deodorant
Nipple Cream really helps when your feet are dry and itchy ... and try to avoid scratching as much as you can because it only makes the fungus spread and take longer to heal... use the tea trea as often as you need and keep your feet clean even if you go to a friends house ask if you can wash your feet and keep tea tree with you to reapply when needed
Use your own judgement with this and it will go away ... even if it takes over a year just be patient ... and good luck or if you really can't stand it go see a podiatrist ... its worth it

I had a mild case. Before it got too out of hand (even though it is the worst i've had it) i decided to try some homeopathic remedies.
I put some baking soda in my socks. In the morning my feet were sore even one of my toes were red. I guess baking soda isn't the greatest idea!!! But i think i added way too much. It has a pH of 8, our skin is 5, fungus likes 5. It doesn't do well in acidic which is lower, i looked for lime juice which is 1.8-2 and i couldn't find any so i went with something really different to 5, something way higher. Mylanta/milk of magnesia.
i soaked my feet in approximately 2 cups vinegar (pH 2.4-3.4), about 6 cups hot water and a tablespoon Epsom salts which is soothing for my feet since they were sore from the baking soda. Just warning you it tingles to a slight very bearable sting (could be from the baking soda). This shocked me that it would sting, but i guess that meant it was working.
i soaked that for at least an hour while i read magazines. Then i used some selsun blue anti-dandruff shampoo since i previously always used cedel to wash my feet which has 2% pyrithione zinc which is double the concentration of head and shoulders, i figured it had a slight resistance to it and Selsun blue contains another chemical selenium sulfide. I put the shampoo on my foot brush and scrubbed my feet well. I pumiced; since the fungus feeds off dead skin, and then scrubbed it again. I rinsed feet in the same solution i had before (not a fresh batch). Then i dried with a towel, then with a hair dryer and used Mylanta (or milk of magnesia). It has a very high pH of 10.5 so it should make it tough for the fungus to thrive. It makes your toes white but after i dried it with a hair drier it wouldn't rub off on clothes and stuff much at all.
So far i've noticed it cut down in itchiness and actual flaking by at least 80% and i didn't harm my feet in disastrous ways. I think the baking soda in my sock the night before probably was a bit over kill. I will try mix some corn starch with baking power next time to dilute it a bit.
Hope that helps someone out there. I'm going to do the same tomorrow and then just use the scrub of selsun in the shower because it takes up too much of my time and i just need it in control. I'm airing my feet out for 8 hours and as much as i can, i don't want to sleep with them uncovered incase i put the fungus in my bed sheets.

Absorbine Jr. worked for me. I didn't have any open soars or oozing, just regular athletes foot that the over the counter meds. would never take away. It has been many, many years, but as I recall, I used this for about a week once a day after my shower. It burned a very little at first then stopped as it quickly dried. I did not rinse it off. It permanently cured the athletes foot. There were a couple of other times over the past 30 years where I thought I may have caught athletes foot again. So I used it on the suspected area and it fixed it.

After reading through the remedies on this site, I soaked my foot twice per day in a mixture of salt (two tablespoons) white vinegar (one-half cup) plus enough hot water to cover my foot. Then I dried my foot thoroughly and used an OTC medication and baking soda or powder. The soaking got rid of the pain and itching and the OTC med got me on the road to healing. But some last lingering cracked spots just would not clear up, and I was worried about reinfection. I put some lip balm on those spots (Kiehl's Lip Balm #1) and they disappeared.

1. Boil water enough to soak your feet
2. Add about 1/4 cup table salt
3. use a spoon or any object to mix the solution
4. add water additional water to cool down the water a bit
5. soak your fit for about 9 mins
6 dry your feet
Do this before and after work (morning and evening)

The only thing that has ever worked for curing my athlete's foot is Kombucha's SCOBY. I have tried everything under the sun to help my athlete's foot and nothing worked: vinegar, listerine, tea tree oil, coconut oil, Vick's Vaporub, conventional meds, turmeric, foot cream from LUSH, henna. So you can either buy a scoby from Laurel Farms or make your own- just google how to make a kombucha scoby. I just applied strips of the SCOBY to my feet between the toes- twice. My problem is GONE!

Well, I've tried the vinegar as most swear by it, it helped, but that was about all, I tried the bleach, same reaction, helped but nothing great! The lysol DOES help the burning ,itch. The over the counter products ,um helped, but didnt cure or even make it any better! So today I tried the monistate cream for yeast!! So far???? It's helping !!! I even tried the perioxide...........but Im telling you the female vaginal creams seem by far the best!!! And take a lesson well learned by me, DO NOT try shoes on at the store!!! Thats how I caught atletes foot ,make sure you take a small thing of lysol with you and spray the shoes BEFORE trying on!! I've never had this condition in 48 years, now I do, and I'll be so glad when its gone!!! Also there is such a condition called **JUNGLE ROT** so check with your doctor !! My mother had that for years !! and finally after about 15yrs got rid of it!!! Good luck out there!!

I really suffered badly from athlete's foot. At times the itchiness almost became unbearable and the sometimes it even hurt, especially when I was in the bath.
After trying a few treatments that didn't seem to work, a good friend of mine suggested I try Zerofungus. I figured I had nothing to lose so I gave it a go and for once, a treatment that ACTUALLY works! My athletes foot cleared up in a few days and I'm back to my local gym...although I'm now definitely not going to go barefoot in any public shower!

I went camping and initially thought I had a bug bite on my toe. One week later, I am beginning to realize it's athletes foot. I've been spraying the area with rubbing alchohol, allowing to air dry ( about 15 seconds) putting a clean cotton ball between my affected toes and covering with a clean white sock. Repeat twice per day. I've been doing this for two days and can already see a recovery.

My foot was itching uncontrollable and tried it. My foot didn't itch at all the next day. Put it on your foot. Leave it on for about 10 mins and wash off. Keep doing this at least once a day until content. Trust me ive tried it all!

I will give the remedy and explain why some things work for some but not others. The vinegar may have helped some people because it could change the Ph value of the skin and make it inhospitable for fungus. People have different Ph values in their skin so they get different results.I have read a hundred of these remedy's and no one has mentioned salicylic acid. Until recently it was in acne medications. It drys the skin by washing away the oils that help hold the skin together. I used it twice a day for a week, applying very heavy. My skin began to peel like I had a sunburn. It cured me. There was a product in the early 70s made by Blistosol that treated AF by making the top layer of skin peel away. They removed it from the market but it did work very well. This sort of thing is dangerous so I am not recomending you try it. These are just my experiences.

Use 1 cup of white vinegar and three cups of warm water, as hot as you can stand. Submerge feet or affected areas in mix for 10-20 minutes. If you have open blisters or sores, this will burn but not as bad as peroxide. Soak feet. Then dry with paper towel, works better than bath towel. Get in between each toe and make sure they are very very dry. Use paper towel to rub off any dead skin. Apply Tinactin generously to affected area. It immediately relieves the itching and burning. Rinse hands very thoroughly and dispose of water. I just tried this and it seems to be working.

Cedarwood is the most natural way for fighting athlete's foot and similar foot diseases. It's because of it's antifungal attributes mother nature has invented.
In practice you can use special cedarsoles - insoles made from cedar wood. They stop any fungal infections.

My father was an Infantry man for as long as I can remember and had feet SO BAD, that they were completely scaled, toenails yellow and jagged, and with athlete's foot so bad, his skin would crack and bleed. I advised him on the benefits of garlic, so, every morning, he would peel one clove of garlic, crush it on a spoon, and chase it with grapefruit juice or orange juice-much like a tequila shot! Then, after a short period of time, not only were his feet COMPLETELY healed, but he was also able to stop taking his high blood pressure medicine. His heart was thumping like a teenager again and feet so great that they could have modeled shoes. And I'm talking regular colored nails, NO scaling, and NO dried, cracked, bleeding skin between his toes. He still can't thank me enough to this day!

The cheapest thing I found is Blue star ointment . Rub on feet and inbetween toes with q tip daily until symptoms are gone then continue to apply a couple time a week to prevent recurring.I tried a clorox mix in water once and it burned my feet up.

Then, started soaking my foot in ocean water twice a day and put mentholatum ointment/rub on it overnight and saw results immediately. Continued this routine and 5 days later the soreness is gone, no itch or burn, no mini blisters anymore! The color went from deep red, almost purple, to light pink. Healing more each day!

Use a disposable emery board to file away any dead skin between your toes. Soak your feet in the sink in HOT water with LOTS of epsom salt. BLOW DRY your feet to get rid of every ounce of moisture. Apply Lamisil (require Rx) to toe cracks. Chan your socks daily and THROW THEM OUT EVERY DAY! Buy disposable foam inserts for your shoes and Tinactin (Over the counter) foot powder to put in your shoes until it clears and then once it is gone THROW THE SHOES OUT JUST IN CASE SO YOU DONT GET IT AGAIN - Better SAFE than SORRY!

I scrubbed my tub every day and I rubbed it directly on my feet. Within a couple of days, I noticed my athlete's foot clearing up. Within a month it had completed cleared up. I still scrub my tub once a week with Soft Scrub and the athlete's foot hasn't returned in a year.

I was bothered by athlete's feet for years - the cycle was itching, burning and cracked skin between the two small toes on both feet, apply antifungal creme - three weeks later start again. Then I discovered the secret: stop washing between the toes! It must be the abrasive action of the washcloth that strips away outer skin cells reducing the skin's natural barrier to the fungus. Simply spread you toes and swish or rinse in the bath or shower - and of course the spaces between your toes should be thoroughly dry.

Sprays and powders work for some people but not everyone. One effective way to help your feet is to remove the moisture that allows Athlete's Foot to grow. You can walk around barefoot, change your shoes and socks in the middle of the day, or try a new thing called ShoeSharks. They're foam devices that you wear inside your shoes and they keep your toes dry in the exact place that the fungus grows. They're at shoesharks.com

No matter What treatment you try over the counter creams, or home remedies the key to permanent relief is making sure that you also treat your shoes, socks and surfaces like showers bathroom floors, bedroom carpets etc so that they don't recontaminate your feet. I don't believe the fungus is in your blood, but I do think that diet is a factor in feeding the fungus. For example I noticed that my middle of the night itching fits were usually followed by me eating bread, a late pasta dinner (starch, yeast) or a very sweet desert (sugar). Beer and liquor (yeast and sugar) are also likely culprits. start to make your own observations and modify your diet as needed.

If Anti-fungal remedies aren't working, and the area between the toes is red, itchy, and chafing, it may be bacterial. Wash and dry thoroughly, and apply 'Neosporin + Pain' cream - not ointment - to the area. Cream absorbs into the skin and breathes better. Go without socks as much as possible, especially overnight. Use Gold Bond or regular baby powder to keep the area dry while in socks and shoes. Change socks often and maintain good general hygiene. You should see results in a couple of days. Be consistent. If it's still going on see a doctor.

For foot fungus, athlete's foot I use OxyClean (the pre-soak). First I scrub my feet with soap and water then soak them for a few minutes in a tub of Oxyclean made according to directions on the label. Oxyclean works best in hot water so I use the warmest water possible without burning my feet. Oxyclean is made from hydrogen peroxide so it's a fungicide. After soaking my feet for a few minutes, I air dry them with the solution still on.

I didn't tell my parents and ignored it. 2 weeks later my athlete's foot was exponentially worse and I needed immediate relief. I went searching and found a tube of Cortizone 10. At the time I didn't know what it was nor what it was used for. I tried it anyway. Immediately the iching went away and the athlete's foot healed faster than any cream I had used before. Don't know why this was and haven't used it since. But it did wonders at the time.

The home remedy I have found to really help keep athlete's foot in check (or from spreading): Keep your shoes clean. I used to spray my shoes with a product called Mycomist. But it uses chemicals and is fairly expensive. I now found a shoe tree that uses ultra violet light that is completly chemical free. Sanitized foot wear seems the ofter overlooked key to keep athlete's foot at bay.

If you can find it, Henna (sometimes called Mehndi) works great on athlete's foot due to its natural antifungal makeup, and it's all natural! The only problem is, Henna is used to create designs on the body, so it will stain your feet for at most a month, but if you wear shoes regularly, it might just do the trick for you. However, do NOT use BLACK Henna or any other coloured henna besides the natural brown stain. Black can compromise your immune system, and any other colour is a synthetic and unnatural henna!

It will drive you crazy.... the insane burning, itching and peeling. I tried a number of things this last time (i've had it before but this last time was the WORST).... and the best three things that helped me clear it up (and stop it from driving me crazy)...
1. Soaked my foot in hot water, apple cider vinegar and epsom salt. It will sting a little... but the longer you last the better the relief
2. Friar's Balsam (the brand i used is herb farm), applied undiluted morning and evening after spraying the affected area w/peroxide and drying.
3. Vicks VapoRub applied before bed (very soothing).
I'm practically clear in two days... and I've already suffered for more than a week w/it.
Hope this helps.

Much advice is given on this topic, and quite frankly are harmful. Antibiotic resistant bacteria is extremely common in the treatment of foot disorders. And, therefore a podiatry recommended course of treatment, should always be your first choice. But, I won't leave you without hope during our 'medical crisis'. The best product on the market for the treatment of athlete's foot is hydrogen perioxide. We used to have available this product in the gel form, and without it, frankly were quite lost. But repeated uses of the hydrogen perioxide liquid 3% (with sloughing) will eliminate the bacteria, and it will not return. Also, the recommendation for fennel is a great one since, fennel is one of the strongest antioxidants in your home. It captures the nitrates within your system and converts it to a nitroxide, thus freezing everything in that region. The reaction is mild yet effective. This most common side effect is hypothermia (freezing) so avoid this method during the winter. That is why hydrogen perioxide is the best method. Both methods eliminate free radicals that attribute to the growth of phages, or antibiotic resistant bacteria.

I tried most of the remedies, and they worked for a while, but the condition always returned. Most fungicides are made with copper salts, so I made a copper toe ring. I wear it all the time and have been symptom free for 20 years, except the time I lost it once and the itching came back. The ring has to fit very closely, so it has to be custom made.
The best way I have found to make one is to tie a small copper wire (14 to 24 ga) snugly around the toe with a simple overhand knot. Slip it off carefully trying not to stretch it much larger and solder the ring together. Cut and file off the excess, then work the ring back on. It will not be easy to get it on, but once you do you can forget it.
If your toe turns green, then you really needed to wear some copper because your body chemistry was deficient in copper too.

After mistakenly thinking I was suffering from vaginal thrush (turned out it was actually an allergy to scented loo roll!) I gave up most sugar and started to take grapefruit seed extract daily (a powerful antifungal I believe). Unexpectedly Made my athletes foot disappear!

I have to admit I was scepticle about these cures after years of doctor visits and thousands of dollars. I had athletes foot for 15 yrs i was never able to find a cure. I tried tea tree oil, garlic, peroxide, salt soaks, otc meds all apart and in conjuction with each other. After reading suggestions i made one last valient effort to rid myself of this modern day leprosy. I took a week off of work ran around outside without shoes. I drank only lemon water and cut all sodas and juices. After my feet were nice and crusty I sprayed tilex mold and mildew everywhere in the bathroom. I cleaned every spot of that place i also sprayed my feet and let it sit for 20 min. I performed this two days in a row. For the first time in more years than i can remember i slept throught the night without scratching. I removed the insoles from my shoes and sprayed them with the tilex. I rinsed the insoles and wiped clean the inside of the shoes. The third day i soaked my feet with 100% apple cider vinegar for 1 hour. It was at this point I noticed the Jungle Rot was no longer there the itching was gone and the smell of vinegar never smelled so sweet. I continued the soak the rest of the week. Weekly i clean the bathroom floor and twice a week the tub. Every week one night a week I soak my feet in the acv to be sure and every day i wash my feet with selsun blue. I thank God i am free of the scourge and believe me I know what some of you are going through. I am fungus free and able to go to pool parties without shoes. I believe that the greatest help was the change in diet. I no longer consume refined sugar and love lemon water. Good luck to all of you and If my posting helps just one person I know ive done a great service.

Soak in undiluted clorox for no more than 5 minutes during every shower for two weeks. Get a cheap tupperware cassarole container. Forget vinegar. Nothing lives through the Clorox. Your skin may be slightly sore, but you'll be cured. New shoes or Lysol in the shoes completes the cure. I had it bad and nothing worked but this. Also 5 bucks for beach sure beats 100 dollars worth of lotrimin that won't work.

Soak your feet in a 1/2 and 1/2 Clorox and cold water solution. Scratch them good to open up the sores. It will hurt granted but will stop it in it's tracks. Works for Jock itch as well with 1 gal to bathtub full of LUKE warm water.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Over the counter Antifungal treatment.
I read over many of these hair brained treatments, and formulated a treatment of my own, that worked after two weeks of use. Before and after showering I would swab the infected area with HP and wait till it stopped foaming. Shower, and then reapply the HP, wipe dry and then apply the Antifungal cream all over specially between the toes.
Worked like a charm, I had tried alot of other remedies but found that nothing worked better than Hydrogen Peroxide and Cream.
Good Luck

Ok. I have it.
Very simple and effective.
Go to your hardware store and get some aquarium silicone sealant/caulk.
Make sure it smells like vinegar when you open it. You should be able to buy a smallish tube with a screw cap.
First. Dont apply to broken skin, cause I think it will hurt a lot, and Im not sure what else will happen.
Smear on a thinnish layer. I reckon about 3mm depending on how long you can wait for it to dry. It should be a clear sticky gel and smell strongly of Vinegar. Use something to apply it so you dont get it all over your fingers. Its great for getting between your toes etc.
Drying, It will vary depending on how much you applied, and the humidity in the air and temperature. 2 to 15 minutes?
When the silicone gel is drying, It will smell like vinegar or Acetic Acid as its also known. ACID yes and its pretty strong too, It will tickle the tough and sting the weak. It just tickled me :)
Like what lots of people have said above vinegar is great for the fungal infection. Did you know acetic acid is also a large part of vaginal fluids? Anyway, it could sting a bit, more if your skin is inflamed. Thats just the acid burning into your skins nerves!
Now the great thing about this is you put it on, let it dry and leave it on as long as you can. Up to a week? The acid is a byproduct of the silicone drying, this is actually trapped between your skin and the silicone layer. It will kill the fungal infection, it will also protect your skin and let it heal, and stop fungal spores from growing. The silicone will actually let your skin breath too.
Try a little area first!
Dont coat your self in the silicone!
Dont be an idiot!
Dont over do it!
Dont use it to prevent an infection.
It is acid it will burn your skin if you keep using it.
See a doctor!
You must kill the spores in your clothes, shoes, bed clothes floors carpets, bathrooms etc.. or it will come back and get you. Sunlight is great for this.. DONT go putting silicone all over stuff!! Thats just stupid. Hey! Vinegar or bleach could be good for cleaning things?
It will probably come off by itself after a few days or you can peel it off once its dry pretty easily. Re apply if you need to.
Good Luck
Let me know how you go!!!
Cheers
Mat
*Next topic.. crazy/supa glue and duct/electrical tape! great for cuts!

I used those Kinoki foot pads, the as seen on tv stuff and my atheletes foot disapeared for weeks at a time, when i tried to go back to walgreens and get them they were no longer selling them, however you can get them online. The foot detox pads worked so well, I have the worst athletes feet ever, they are always red with blisters and swelling, I also never wear shoes so I dont understand why I have it so bad. I will swear by those detox pads though.

For those who have less serious cases of athlete's foot, a simple, completely free short and long term remedy for the itching symptom I have finally found! This works everytime, and has no drawbacks. SIMPLY PUT your feet (infected area) under hot water, (about the temperature that won't burn but is very uncomfortable to leave your foot under), and like magic it will work. It will make the itching go away, and clean the area.

Those that have this yeast problem lack the natural defense to eliminate the yeast overgrowth and that the body needs probiotics to build the immune system. Eithy per cent of the immune system is in the colon and if there are colon problems or constipation problems then the immune response will not be adequate to fight the yeast and athletes foot will thrive.

I had moccasin type athlete’s foot, in which the sole of the foot is affected. The thick skin on the sole makes treating this type of athlete’s foot very difficult.
After trying several commercial treatments I decided to try the following approach. First, after showering when the skin on the foot is softer, I used a pumice stone to remove dead skin. Next I soaked my foot in apple cider vinegar for 10-15 minutes, then dried my foot with rough towel to further exfoliate the skin. Finally I applied a 50/50 mixture of neem oil and tamanu oil and put on a pair of clean, cotton socks.
After doing this twice a day for about 1 month my athlete’s foot is gone. It is important to practice very good hygiene during this process. Clean your tub/shower, pumice stone, rough towel, and socks thoroughly after using to avoid re-infection and wash your hands after applying the oil.
It takes a little time and effort to get results with this treatment, but it works.
