have your child hold it a little longer each time has to go potty. then he does this everytime it will cause his bladder to streach and he will be able to hold it longer thourgh the night.

I was potty trained and for the most part I used the toilet, but At 7 years old I still had frequent accidents. I had a problem and finally a doctor realized that I needed surgery to have it fixed. The tube between the bladder & kidneyt had not grown with me. At 7 It was still the size of a newborns. They went in strached it out and it has grown with me ever since. Sometimes you need to look deeper as I went from on doc to another quite a few times and took lots of meds before someone figured out I wasn't 'lazy.' |

At home, we had a chart, every night that i didnt wet my bed, a star would be put up on the chart. every ten stars or so, my mother would reward me with some stickers or something, you know what kids like. This and additional praise helped me overcome my problem which ended up being more of a competition than a goal. |
| Submitted at 2007-01-10 07:34:30 from 75.128.115.188 | I asked my sons doctor about this and was advised NOT to do it because she says its not good for a child to hold it. it actually makes the bladder weaker and when they get older it will make them not be able to hold it at all.
Before you take someones suggestions on here, PLEASE consult with a doctor FIRST! do not use your child as a guinea pig!
Holding your urine for a longer amount of time can cause kidney infections and bladder infections and who knows what. |
