I get abscesses all the time. I usually take an extremely fine sterile syringe(if it hasn't come to a head-yellow/white on top-yet)and pierce it several times, close together, it doesn't hurt as the syringe is tiny and the pain from the pressure of the abscess masks the pain from the syringe.MAKE SURE YOU USE A BRAND NEW SYRINGE, .5cc/29 or 30 guage(needle size).Only pierce it, dont try drain it. Apply hot compresses, if you do it properly(to the depth of the abscess, no further, and multiple times, spaced extremely close together)by the next day, it will come to a head. When you see that white/yellow head, pierce it again, with a larger guage needle, or same size, but again, don't try to suck it out, it will only clog up the needle, instead place a gauze or clean kleenex/paper towel over it and squeeze it, on all sides. It may stink like sewage, but it will empty, I guarantee this. Using all of your fingertips surround the boil(under the towel, otherwise it will go everywhere)and continue to squeeze, yes it will hurt/but far less than if you let it continue to fill. Hourly compresses held in place for 5 minutes @a time, til it cools, repeat the hot compress three or four times/3-6 times a day, not more as the bleach in the water may cause chafing. Recipe for the compresses as follows;2tablespoons of 'LaParisienne'bleach with 1 litre of sterile water(full rolling boil for five minutes)the compresses should be as hot as you can stand. If you're lucky, you'll get the core out, yayyy, it's a hard whitish/yellowy chunk, and it will only bleed when you continue to squeeze if you still needed to drain it. Apply alcohol, and use any of the following, neosporin/polysporin or any antibiotic ointment. OINTMENT>NOT CREAM, as cream will just absorb into the dressing, which you will need as soon as you are done draining your abscess. Keep the area sterile, continually change the bandage until the swelling comes down, it may continue to drain, if it doesn't drain, you've succeeded at getting the core, however the swelling will be there, as the skin and surrounding tissues will be irritated from the pressure applied during the draining.Once the redness and swelling/pus stop coming out, remove the bandage. Continue using polysporin/neosporin as a precaution for another day or so, and it should be ready to air dry, the skin will repair itself. Avoid topical steroids on open wounds. If you want to try(I have without success)applying hydrocortisone cream to the abscess before trying to drain, try it, it may be an insect bite/rash etc. DONT MISTAKE A BOIL FOR AN ABSCESS. A BOIL IS MERELY A LARGE RAISED BLISTER,IF NOT INFECTED, IT'LL BE CLEAR WATER. I lance these too, but they arent serious, and if they get too big, can pop at a very inconvenient time, if on an area like your butt, it may look like you wet yourself. I hope this info has been helpful to you. I try home remedies all the time, but this is one I've used on other people(my ex had an abscess for over twenty years, and it had hardened, the doctor wouldn't touch it, I did the same as mentioned above and it healed and you can't even tell it ever existed. Dont pierce it with a needle it will only make it worse. I tried piercing my abcess with a brand new needle i sterilized the skin prior to poking it and everything. I poked my abcess several time cause the pressure was killing me. It was located on my arm right above the crease at ur elbow on the front side. It made it ten times worse i had to go to the hospital and have it surgically cut and drained which is not pleasent. It hurt alot even with the area being numbed for the procedure. The doc had to squeeze the area to get out all the infection. The holes i had put in it made it possible for bacteria to get to it even tho i kept it extremly clean. So just put warm compresses on it until it comes to a head on its own. Also soak it in warm water and episom salt to speed things along. Just never poke it with anything. I know they hurt and you want it gone but ive got a huge scar to prove that u shouldnt mess with them till there ready. Once it busts dnt squeeze it either apply pressure and pull your skin back away from the break never squeeze an abcess like a bump it could cause the infection to go deeper in your tissue or in your blood stream. PLEASE DONTCPOKE UR ABCESS LET IT COME TO A HEAD ON ITS OWN !!!!!!!!!

I get abscesses all the time myself (you would think after the first couple of them I'd get the hint and just quit using lol) and I do exactly the same thing with mine. I have never had to go to the hospital or clinic to have mine drained, my doctor gives me antibiotics and I do the rest. Abscesses are extremely painful, some can be downright debilitating!! Anyways,as soon as I notice its an abscess I get the heating pad out and keep it on the affected area as much as possible. After a few days, I'll take a brand new syringe, always use a new one for this part, and poke a few holes in the abscess. Depending on how bad it is and your.pain tthreshold, this may hurt so much you want to scream or it may not hurt at all. Now is the time to make sure you've got plenty of toilet paper, Kleenex,, whatever, because this part can get quite messy. What I do,depending on where the abscess is,I normally put both hands on the area surrounding the abscess and gently pull the skin away from the abscess. This should be enough pressure to start it draining. Once the pus.starts coming out, place your toilet paper, Kleenex or whatever you are using (as long as its clean!!)directly over the abscess and squeeze it. I guarantee that it will drain and although it may be.sore frfrom squeezing it, you should notice immediate relief. It will more than likely fill up again and it may drain on its own or you may have to do it you're again. You really should try and get the core out, mine have always been a yellowish color, you may have more pus come out after that.but it shouldn't be that much. Afterwards, put a sterile bandage, you know? The big gauze pads? Put one on the abscess with some polysporin, or some other antibiotic ointment. To be honest with you, when you get the polysporin, neosporin or whatever you are using, the cream is better than the ointment. The ointment will absorb mostly in to the bandaid or the gauze pad so the cream is much better. Also,I've had quite a few abscesses and none of mine have stunk in the least!! I hear from people and read it online that it will probably smell like a sewer but never, not once has any of my abscesses ever stunk and I've had numerous abscesses over the last 10 years!! One more thing,if you can avoid it,instead of squeezing it, press down and spread the skin down, it may possibly drain like that. Hope this helps.

I also forgot to.mention that if you do squeeze the abscess, remember there's always the chance of the infection spreading to the surrounding tissues and into your bloodstream so please be careful and when in doubt, go to the hospital or clinic.
