last night i went to bed around 12am, only to be woken up again at 1am with this throbbing pain in my tooth as well as my ear, right side of face and even my right ear. i was up until 8am and found this site, and i hate to say it but nothing worked.

this has gone on for a while now with me, off and on. and i finally was able to sleep from being so tired and not being able to keep my eyes open long enough to stay awake and do more research, but let's just be honest here - not all of us have clove oil, peppermint oil, garlic cloves, etc. sitting around our house. but i did read that sitting up helps out a lot because of the built up pressure that gets to your head/face/jaw when you lay your head down. it didn't take away the pain, but the pain was definitely worse when i laid down my head.

i'm still in a lot of pain today, but it's nothing compared to what i went through last night. i rinsed with salt water, hot water, cold water, put ice on my face, in my mouth - nothing.

Last week I had the same problem. I tried everything mentioned on this site. I also tried Ibuprofen (didn't touch the pain), paracetomol (same). After three days of increasingly intense pain my partner came home at the weekend and suggest I tried his co-codamol. I was sure nothing would work but it did within five minutes. The pain relief lasted eight hours. The dentist said I need a root canal and I made an appointment, but doing research on it, I preferred to try and see if I could cure myself naturally. I got onto the Earth Clinic website and looked through all their suggested cures. I tried the tea bags, clove oil, hot salted water etc, but what did finally work for me was cutting a garlic clove in half and putting the flat side against the affected gum. It was incredibly hot and made my eyes water. I persevered and then chewed it, followed by lots of water. That night I didn't have to take the co-codamol, but the next day it throbbed again. I tried another garlic clove and left if on for over an hour, making sure I bit into the flat side to release the juices and putting it back onto the affected gum. It burnt and made my gum very sore, but after that time the pain went but left me with a sore ulcer. Along with the garlic I also swished around with some collodial silver which I bought on line and it came two days later, and also bought some bee propolis, which an alternative practiioner I know suggested was as good as any antibiotic and which I took 5-6 drops in warm water every 2-3 hours. I had read that one could die of tooth infection if it spread throughout the body, so I wasn't going to take any chances and, having had breast cancer six years ago, did not want to take regular antibiotics as they would compromise my immune system. I bought some organic pumpkin seeds which I take for mouth ulcers which do work after three days. I am also putting some bee propolis on a cotton bud to put directly onto the ulcered gum. I have been totally pain free now for about four days and the last two days any swelling on my cheek and under my jaw has disappeared. I am playing safe though and making sure for the moment I eat on the other side of my mouth as I don't want to tempt fate by putting too much pressure on the tooth. For the last few days I have also been taking four capsules of Serrapeptase and two capsules of Blockbuster Allclear first thing in the morning on an empty stomach 30 minutes before food, as I read that these help to repair nerves, so hopefully the nerve in my affected tooth will repair itself. By doing this myself I have saved £1,000 in dental fees. I also paid for an e-book on how one can repair dentine by improving one's diet and including fat soluble vitamins. Apparently, fluoride stops the teeth from remineralizing. I also bought some 3 per cent hydrogen pyroxide which was already made up and used it to put on my toothbrush and brush around the affected tooth. But it was definitely the garlic that did the main job. Hope this info helps a little. Good luck.

I was heading for greater and greater pain as I had experienced at simmer solstice and couldn't face it again
So I found this site and tried the only suggestion I had at home and want to report 100% success with neat peppermint essential oil
No swelling no pain completely clear within 1 day and pain free within 1/2 hour
Thank you

You should go to the ER. I had the same problem last year and I was sure it was my tooth. I went to the ER and found out it wasn't my tooth at all. I had a terrible ear infection.

I agree with the sitting down the to relieve the pressure. Also, laying on your back make is tolerable to sleep
