Anal itching in children can be caused by pin worms. Place a piece of scotch tape over anus over night to look for evidence. The worms will crawl out and get stuck on the tape as they are more active at night time.

what if the child needs to make a bowel movement?

stick that tape where?!!!!!!!!!

jane

i doubt any kid would let there parent put tape on there bum and send them to bed so they can trap worms....get real!

No doubt! LOL!! I could see me stickin' tape on my child's butt. Who knows? It may work, but I would like to know what kind of child you got.

You don't need to use tape. If you suspect pinworms, after the child is asleep, use a flashlight to check their bottom. The worms are small, white and easy to see with the flashlight, usually swarming around the anus.

According to my children's pediatrician, it is easier to just treat a child that is suspected of having pinworms than it is to actually detect them. We have always just treated and that was the end of it. Make sure you treat everyone in the house though.

The tape thing is what my childs doctor said to do. He's old school and the best dr I've ever delt with! my child was 2 and didn't even know it was there.

the flashlight works sometimes but the tape is very effective...used it alot in latin america, treating children. you don't leave it on them over night, just when the child wakes up, place it remove it and observe. for those who say the child won't let you... it's for their benefit. MAN UP AND BE THE PARENT!!!
